Now in its fourth year, the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Heart and Vascular Conference is recognized as one of the regions premier events for cardiovascular disease education. The 2012 conference will showcase nationally renowned speakers and faculty who will discuss advances in cardiovascular care, as well as the state of health care reform and the effect it may have on the medical practice. Keynote speakers will include Jim Craig, former goaltender for the 1980 Miracle on Ice Olympic Hockey Team. Following the death of his father from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, Mr. Craig became the national spokesperson for the Ultimate SAAVE campaign, a public awareness initiative to encourage awareness and screening for aortic disease. In addition, Daniel Gross, DNSc, RN, Executive Vice President of Hospital Operations for Sharp Healthcare, and 2011 appointee to the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association, will provide invaluable insight regarding the latest developments in healthcare reform.

Guest faculty includes David Shavelle, MD, who will discuss percutaneous treatment of aortic stenosis. Dr Shavelle is an Associate Clinical Professor University of Southern California, Director, Cardiac Catherization Laboratories, and director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Los Angeles County- USC Medical Center.
