In 2013, stroke fell from the fourth to the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. Decline in stroke mortality has been attributed to overall population health improvements in acute stroke treatment, prevention, and education. However, about 795,000 people have new or recurrent stroke annually and stroke remains a leading cause of disability. This one and a half day symposium will equip health care providers with practical, evidence-based knowledge for early stroke identification, evaluation, treatment, transport, and management.

Through lectures, interactive sessions, and open discussions, this conference will explore the critical issues surrounding the assessment and management of stroke patients. Additionally the course will review recent AHA/ASA acute ischemic stroke guidelines, cutting-edge interventions, treatment recommendations, and research.
