Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had a reclast IV done on March 8, 2023, at 1:30 pm and was told to take two Tylenol and drink lots of water that will reduce the flu-like symptoms. I was fine all day when about 10 30 pm comes around and I got really light-headed so I went to my room and laid down. My right shoulder started hurting thought nothing of it. When 12 am came around I was in excruciating pain and when I say pain it's an understatement, it felt like every bone in my body was broken. From top to bottom arms, ribs, legs, hips, knees, head, everything. Flu-like symptoms are an understatement. I will not recommend for anyone to take this I know I will not."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had a Reclast infusion November 2023. After reading reviews I drank a lot of water and took Tylenol leading up to the infusion, though I was never told to do this by anyone. I was very nervous about it, but thought maybe the bad reviews were by people who hadn’t hydrated and taken Tylenol. I thought if I did that, I would be okay. Wrong! I have never been so sick in my life. I felt like I did the first time I had Covid. Every bone in my body hurt, and I had the worst headache ever. My knees were so painful. I couldn’t walk for three days and had to use a cane for a few days after that. They were terribly swollen. The whole thing really scared my family. It is May 2023 and my knees are still bothering me. About a month ago, I felt and heard some popping behind my knee just from kind of twisting a bit to sit down at the table for dinner. I feel like my leg could just give out from under me. I’m wondering if it tore a ligament. I would never take the chance if I had it to do over."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Had the Reclast infusion on November 16, 2019. Seemed fine after the infusion but the next day woke up with every joint hurting. Couldn't hardly stay awake all day. Severe chills and then a 100.5 fever. Took Tylenol and alternated with Ibuprofen. Nauseated and no desire to eat. Had to force myself to drink. Day 3 started with rosy cheeks and still have them on day 4. Looks like a butterfly Lupus rash. Headache for about 24 hours. Neck is still a little sore but luckily the hips don't hurt as bad. Also had stomach pain and seem very bloated. I don't think I will do this again. Just hope no other symptoms come along as some of these posts talk about."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had the reclast infusion done in Oct 2017. I recently had my repeat bone scan and my osteopenia has improved significantly in the two years since. My PA didn't see any urgent need for me to have the infusion again although where I am on prednisone 10 mg every day, its recommended and since I did not have any post infusion side effects, I'm eager to have it again. I'm 68 and I have never broken a bone (yet) lets keep it that way!"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Less than 36 hrs after my first Reclast infusion I began shivering violently for over 2 hrs. Then I spiked a temp of 102.7. Within 24 hrs that had gone. Day 4 post infusion my left arm, wrist and hand began to hurt. This was the arm I received the infusion in. Now it has been 8 days since the infusion and each day the pain gets worse in my arm and hand. When I awaken the entire area is swollen and so painful even a sheet touching my fingertips brings excruciating pain. 2 extra strength Tylenol last about one hour. 4 Ibuprofen last about the same. Aleve (Naproxen) will last about 6 hrs. 2 Tylenol #3 gives relief for about 2 hrs. The pain and swelling have traveled up my arm, into my upper arm above the elbow."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I was given my first Reclast Infusion 5 weeks ago. What a nightmare, after being told I probably won’t have any side effects. I had it on a Wednesday, by Wednesday night I had horrible nausea, my body aches were horrible and I had a-fib. This lasted for about 5 days in which I couldn’t eat anything. I literally had to drag myself upstairs to sleep my body felt so heavy. Fast forward a week out the joint pain in my ankles started. I am an avid walker and can’t even walk without severe pain and limping. They finally called in steroids after numerous calls telling them my joint pain was not subsided. I’m very scared this won’t ever go away at this point. I will never have another infusion again."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I don’t know if the reclast infusion has helped or will help. I do know that I won’t chance it again. On June 24 2022 I received my first infusion. I was given an info sheet explaining the side effects that required you to seek medical help (which I should have done) and the ones that were common that didn’t need urgent attention. I was perfectly fine the rest of the day and most of the next (Saturday). Saturday evening I started feeling the flu like symptoms and took Tylenol for for the aches a pain. That didn’t help at all. By Sunday my head was hurting worse than any migraine over ever had. My eyes felt like they were going to pop out of my head and we’re extremely painful. I couldn’t move then without pain. I had extreme light sensitivity. I was like this for three days and too sick to go to the ER. It’s July 11 and I’m still having painful reactions. Won’t be taking again."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I also had horrible pain from a Reclast Infusion this year. I was in the ER and was going to be admitted but the pain was finally relieved with steroids and many IV pain meds. My pain in my spine, ribs and shoulders was unbearable. I had severe fatigue for many weeks. I continue to have pain in my upper back. Horrible drug!"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I've never posted to a drug reaction site before, but feel compelled to share. Had my first (now will be only!) infusion of Reclast. They gave me Tylenol at the clinic, but I had no idea what I was about to experience. The first 12 hours were fine, but woke with a horribly stiff neck, shoulders, and back, and a low-grade headache. Thought I just "slept wrong." The next 7 days have been a journey of joint and bone pain like never before. First hands (unusable). Shoulders, neck still so stiff I couldn't turn my head. Even my clavicle and rib cage hurt. This lasted 2-3 days. Then my toes felt broken. Through the first 5 days, I alternated Tylenol and Advil, with Aleve PM to try to sleep. On day 6 went back to the doctor and was given IVs (hydration and anti-inflammatory). Also Rx pain meds. Now on day 8, and pain has moved to my legs and knees. Pain meds allow me to function, but am wondering if this will touch every area of my body. Never again!"

I woke up in the middle of the night after I got the infusion…I was so cold and chilled, nauseous, and my muscles and joints hurt everywhere. It also made me constipated. I will never take this awful drug ever again!"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Cancelled Reclast infusion 3 months ago after seeing many negative and alarming reviews. PCP changed my decision by informing me of the high percentage of possible fractures. Had 1st Reclast infusion a few days ago. I took a couple Tylenol and drank a bottle of water. After arriving at a clinic my vitals were taken, I.V. line started and the infusion given. I arrived and left in less than an hour. Going home I drank more water and had a couple more Tylenol. During the next few hours I did mental body scans looking for pain, muscle cramps, aching bones, chills or nausea. I found nothing. And I've continued with no difficulties. No discomfort of any kind. I experienced no side effects of any kind from the Reclast infusion. I'm 70 years old and shall continue to ride horses and have no fear of falling. Hopefully my next year dexascan will show improvement."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I have very bad osteoporosis plus I need surgery on my spine. The surgeon said he couldn’t do it until my bones were stronger and I needed to take medication. I was terrified about it after reading reviews about Prolia and Reclast but I had no choice. I had my Reclast infusion June 2022. I was literally terrified about what might happen afterwards. I am glad to say nothing awful happened to me afterwards. However after 3 months I noticed obvious hair loss on the top of my head. I have also realized that the terrible constipation I have had started just after my infusion. I have unexpected bouts of dizziness and feeling faint, hot sweats, instead of getting a bruise I get big patches of blood just under my skin that takes ages to go away. I have also been getting sharp pains in all my joints. Check out ALL the side effects."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I am sharing this because I was very reluctant about taking Reclast because it stays in your body for a long time and I was worried about the side effects. I decided to take a half dose in 2021. 12 hours after the infusion I had severe inflammation in my fingers where I have slight arthritis. Then after 2 days, I had a severe headache for 2 weeks. I took Tylenol which helped only a bit. I was told not to worry by my doctor and finally, it was fine. Then the following year I decided to take another half dose and this time the next day my hip was on fire and hurt so much I couldn’t walk properly. Along with flu-like symptoms, I felt miserable. My hip pain lasted for about 3 months! My doctor finally told me that any “itis” arthritis, bursitis, etc will get inflamed from the procedure. It was awful. 6 months later I wanted to do Invisalign to straighten a couple of teeth and was told I can’t because Reclast would affect my teeth and bone growth. Unreal! It’s not worth the side effects."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "(FOR MALE JUVENILE OSTEOPOROSIS) While this medicine did seem to increase my bone density in the long run, the night after caused far more pain then the injury that fractured my spine, though this could be on account of my age. PLEASE be sure to check with your doctor over how it may effect you. That being said, calcium supplements and medication over a longer period of time also helped, even without a second Reclast treatment."

"I, too, am a "victim" of zoledronic infusion. I had been taking Prolia for 3-1/2 years. I went in for scheduled Prolia injection. I had a scheduled dex-scan prior. Report showed bone density increase of 6.8%. Doctor said "good", "but we not doing Prolia today. We going to do something better than Prolia. He said it is infusion, better than Prolia." He said "sometimes" insurance does not want to pay for Prolia beacuse it is expensive. He told me nothing about side effects. He said, "nothing to it, you come in, sit in chair, takes about 15 minutes, you get up, walk out, you are fine, You come back in one year." Everything he said was true until I got home. I started with flu-like symptoms which lasted for two days. The headache, chills, went away, but I still suffer with horrible pain in muscles & joints all over body and occasional diarrhea. I went back to doctor after two months of constant pain. He brushed me off saying my pain could not be because of injection."

"Wednesday I had an zoledronic acid infusion. That night I had a hundred and two fever and chills and everything ache from my bones to my muscles. By Friday morning I was having seizures on the floor of my kitchen, I woke up in time to watch my body flopping around like a fish! It soon stopped and I got up off the floor and walk to my husband's condo which is three steps away, I told him I don't feel very well and immediately did a face-plant in his dining room! I hate this stuff, my jaw is locked and eyes are fuzzy off and on! Time will tell what other damage will have been done..."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Painful, sums it up in one word. Had event-free infusion, No problems with the injection site. Within 48 hours, I began feeling burning pain in all my arm and leg bones, and all my joints. Mild at first, it ramped up over the next few hours until I was rocking. At that point, I gave in and took codeine. It is three weeks later and the pain has decreased from beginning around 4 pm and lasting all night to daily/nightly intermittent. Except my thigh and hip bones ache all the time. I have little energy and tire out much faster than prior to the Reclast. I just read that the infusion will affect me for 12 to 24 months. Lovely thought, that. I won't know if it works until my next bone density scan."

"I used this drug zoledronic 3 months ago recommended by endocrinologist for mild hypercalcemia due to vitamin D overdose! The first day was ok but then have got 3 days of fever, malaise, tightness in the chest and neck pain followed with tachycardia for which I got medication. Thought I’ve passed the side effects! In the week 3 got tooth pain and hypersensitivity which continued to the present time ! After a month got dizziness for about 6 weeks or so! Now it has been a months since I started having bone , joint and muscle pain all over and stiffness in fingers. Can’t walk normally because of plantar foot and finger toes joint pain and my left ankle hurts much , my wrists got weak and have forearm pain! This is so potent drug that will take you away from normal life for months! Never use this drug if it would be a substitute for that ! I still pay for what I’ve done and think gonna be lasted ! Hope not to have its serious side effects ! The drug is a real junk!"

"I had my first infusion of Zoledronic acid on 15/6/18. Everything was fine until about 7pm when the pain hit me and I couldn’t move. I was told I would have flu like symptoms but it was far worse than that. I couldn’t sleep or get comfortable in bed because of the pain. The next day was even worse and by the 17th my husband rang the 24 hour helpline I was told that the pain was normal and to ring 111 for stronger painkillers from the out of hours doctor. The doctor phoned and told me I may have high calcium levels and I needed to go to A and E for urgent blood tests. I did this and all the tests came back normal I was given stronger painkillers and told if the pain got worse to see my GP. It is day 6 now and the pain has eased but not gone. I have no energy, very tired and feel this has put my recovery from Breast cancer back months. I am now uncertain as to whether I will be having another infusion."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "When suggesting Reclast my APRN said I may feel flu-like for 3-4 days. She strongly encouraged adherence to keeping hydrated and using Tylenol. I had my infusion Friday afternoon with no issues. I continued hydrating and taking Tylenol every 6 hours as instructed. I was fine on Friday but began feeling fatigued Saturday morning. This got progressively worse during the day. I moved slowly & had difficulty staying awake. By night, I had body chills. I had some pain in the area of my bladder and several of my teeth hurt. Took Tylenol before bed and woke on Sunday feeling better, no chills, no tooth “pain" I still felt tired and some bladder discomfort. I actually slept 1-2:30 pm (I never sleep during the day). I woke up feeling better and even met a friend for dinner out. Today is Monday and I am feeling pretty normal. Maybe the best thing to do is realize you are going to feel flu-like for a few days, plan to lay low, sleep as needed, hydrate & take your Tylenol."

"Next day after injection I could not lift simple light items, lean forward, bend over all due to pain in my chest. Every breath hurt. Saturday woke up in tears to the same breath pain and still couldn't lift anything. Sunday felt confused, major headache on left side started (same side as injection). By Sunday night my breathing only hurt on a deep breath, but left eye socket pain started along with headache. Monday still severe eye socket pain and headache, woke up to eye swollen shut. Doctor said to go to ER and they admitted me for 2 days, eye swollen shut, bright red in a large area around eye. They wrote it off as Cellulitis, but I had no pain due to the redness and white blood cells never elevated showing I was fighting infection"
