"I had my infusion on Friday. My doctor gave me Tylenol at that time and said take one twice a day for 3 days. On Sunday, I woke up with some leg muscle pain. I took 2 Tylenol and an Aleve later on in the morning. Felt fine all day and I resumed my gym workouts on Monday. This was a breeze."

"Follow up on initial Reclast first taken 3/2022. I was never informed of any prep to do beforehand, I suffered violent, severe side effects for 8 days immediately after the Reclast infusion. I was so ill I was unable to call 911 and get myself to a hospital. I was completely incapacitated with severe bone pain, rolling head-to-toe cramps, extreme flu-like symptoms, chills, fevers, and a blinding headache that lasted for 8 days. Now, one year after, I am still experiencing severe and extreme bone pain that many times causes me to be unable to lift my arms and has impacted my quality of life. Additionally, I suffered another compression fracture with zero exertion in June of 2022. I also require several implants and refuse to potentially destroy my jaw. Reclast side effects outweigh any possible benefits. I will be 57 years old this year, and prior to 2022 had no knowledge I had osteoporosis. I pray I have no further issues!"

"Had my infusion on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020. Was just tired and weak at first, then in the middle of the night, I had the most excruciating pain in my bones all night until morning. Doctor then gave me tramadol, which helped the pain, but the next day I vomited all day long. It’s been 4 days, and I’m nauseous, my head still hurts, have no strength to get out of bed or eat much."

"I recently turned 67 and had my second annual dose of Reclast five days ago. After the first infusion in 2022, I developed body aches and night chills for perhaps up to one week. My second infusion experience has been quite worse, although I read that it's uncommon to feel side effects after the second infusion. My symptoms began the evening of day 2, with mild head and neck achiness. By nighttime, I had severe flu-like chills and more severe aching radiating to my arms and shoulders. Day 3, aching in legs, calves, big toes, areas where I have mild arthritis in my joints, milder night chills. Day 4, yesterday, extreme aching, now upper-mid back on both sides, radiating through my breastbone, actual spasms. Excruciating to roll over at night in bed. Today is day 5, and upper back pain and spasms are only on the left side but quite painful. Still spasming. I've been taking Extra Strength Tylenol, but it is not really helping. I decided to discontinue Reclast in the future."

"Had my first Reclast infusion on Wed, Aug 26. My whole body hurt that night and the next morning. Could not walk, my sciatic nerve also kicked in. Today is Fri, Aug 28. Still have trouble walking and need assistance. Was not told about water or pain reliever before the infusion. Hoping this goes away soon. I'm 56 years old with a dex score of -34 in my L-1 through L-5 and borderline osteoporosis in my left femoral neck."

"I took Reclast injections for 4 years. My doctor was unaware that Reclast could potentially cause jaw bone issues. Well, my dentist, in taking X-rays, found I had jaw osteoporosis as a result of taking Reclast injections. I took the injections because my family physician thought this would help me from going into osteoporosis. Instead, it took calcium from my jaw and put it in my other bones. Please know that while Reclast, which is a zoledronic acid, is a product of the bisphosphonate group. I am happy for those who benefited from the drug Reclast, but my experience didn't work out."

"I have been having Aclasta for the last 4 years and am due for my next drip in October. The drip needs to be administered slowly, and you need to drink plenty of water beforehand. I have had no side effects! There has been an improvement with my bone density."

"I can't speak to its effectiveness as I had it infused only about 4 weeks ago, but the side effects mostly went away in about 1 week. What is left is skin irritations, general tightness of my body, and extra sweating. All seem to be going away soon. If it works, I will take it again."

"I had no side effects. Before the dose of Aclasta, I had a typical tennis elbow. It is still painful at times. What I only experience now is hair loss since getting this in Feb. I'm aware that you do shed a couple of hairs before a season change, but this is different. After a hair shampooing, the hair came loose as if I'm having cancer treatment. Where I walk, all over in the house, you will find hair on the floor. Did anyone else experience this same effect?"

"I had the Reclast infusion. Not one side effect. Day before and day of and some the day after the infusion, I took Tylenol extra strength every 8 hours and drank lots of water. I believe this is the key to no side effects."

"I am now 65 years of age. I had been given Fosamax for three years due to early menopause. It did my BDM good. Then, after some years, I went for a bone density test and was given Aclasta for three years, 2014-2016. Then I went off for three years. The radiologist/doctor doing the BDM scans was furious at me in 2020 for taking the gap. I then had Aclasta again in 2020 and 2021. I do regular 4.5 km walks during the week and also sometimes other pleasant walking outings. I do eat all the recommended foods high in calcium and also take calcium supplements every day. Lots of money spent on all these and my bone density dropped with 7.9% in 2022. NEVER EVER was I told about the severe side effects as I have lost bundles and heads of hair since 2014. Then it goes better, then it sheds so badly. I have constant severe back pain up my whole spine and joint pain. I have night sweats. I am tired due to anemia. Palpitations, high blood pressure. Name it. I WILL NEVER TAKE TREATMENT AGAIN. Dr suggests Prolia @R68000."

"My first dose of Reclast was given on 5/3/25; I was not given any instructions prior to coming to the infusion center. The attending nurse did give me instructions to go home and take Tylenol every six hours; she also mentioned that I might have some bone pain later that night. The infusion was seamless, and I even made it through the evening with no symptoms. Around 9 PM I started to feel exhausted and went to sleep; I usually go to sleep around midnight. I awoke at 3 AM feeling like I was being stabbed in the chest and neck, and every bone, muscle, and joint was on fire. I also had the worst headache of my life, nausea, chills, and fever; I was truly afraid to move. I got up to go to the bathroom, only to find that my legs and lower back felt like they had cement blocks on them. It was beyond excruciating! I went back to bed and woke up at 8 AM feeling like I had the worst flu of my life. The day very slowly got better; I still feel like I have the flu, but most definitely on the mend."

"Had my first Reclast IV on Thursday morning. After a couple of hours, started hurting all over and feeling terrible. By evening, started running a fever of 100 - 101, had chills, nausea, pain all over, and couldn't get out of bed until Saturday evening. Took Tylenol every 4 hours. On Sunday, still did not feel a lot better, but fever was getting better. Hope this gets better really soon."

"Had 1st Aclasta in Feb 2019 for osteoporosis and I also have OI type 1. Had a fall and smashed kneecap in June, then had 2nd Aclasta infusion in Feb this year with a bone density test that went from osteoporosis back to osteopenia. So it's working. I was also given pamphlets to read about pros and cons beforehand. So I knew side effects."

"On 12/6/22, I received my first (and only) Zoledronic Acid Injection (Reclast) to prevent osteoporosis from coming back (currently osteopenia) after taking Prolia shots for 2 1/2 years. I don't know whether or not the Reclast injection worked to prevent osteoporosis yet because I'm not scheduled for a bone density test until June. What I do know is that I have been in chronic pain every day since that day! There was literally ZERO warning from my rheumatologist about potential side effects or things that it could possibly trigger. And I foolishly did not research it myself. Within 6 days of the injection, I was limping and in intense pain. They had me come in the next day. Long story short, it is their belief that the Reclast triggered Psoriatic Arthritis that was already in my body (never had it before, but I did have mild psoriasis). I've had 2 BAD flares since the original flare, been in PT, on multiple medicines. In pain every day of my life. NEVER AGAIN will I have Reclast!"

"I had my first infusion for osteoporosis on Monday morning. I followed all directions with hydration and paracetamol and was fine during the day. Everything changed at 2 a.m. I woke up with a fever and in excruciating pain with intense stomach cramps and began vomiting. I then experienced a tightening of my rib cage as if something was crushing it. This made it hard to breathe. I continued to experience vomiting for the next 2 days despite taking anti-nausea meds. I could not even keep fluids down and could not sleep. I also continued to have back and side pain. On day 3, I started to feel like I’d had a shot of adrenaline and was highly agitated, paranoid, and started experiencing heart palpitations. On day 4, I experienced sore, severe jaw pain, especially near my bottom lower molars, and my lymph nodes were swollen. On day 5, I was extremely breathless and had chest pain and was sent to a cardiologist. My heart is okay, luckily... It’s now day 7, and the symptoms continue. Never again!"

"I have been reading the other comments about side effects that happen months later. I have been taking Reclast once a year since 2009, after my cancer treatments were over. I have never had any side effects or bad experiences with it. It's cool as heck to me. I will definitely continue to use it for as long as my oncologist sees it necessary."

"I had my first Aclasta infusion in October 2014 on the recommendation of my oncologist. I had been on Arimidex for breast cancer for 10 months. As yet I have no idea how effective it has been for my bone density. I took two days off work in preparation for any side effects - but am happy to report that I had ZERO side effects, nothing, not even a sniffle!! :)"

"I had the Reclast infusion on Thursday, and first my vein collapsed and fluid built under my skin. Perhaps a poor choice of veins. I am 68. My arm hurt the rest of that day, of course. Then the next two days, I have had the 'flu'-like symptoms (fever, muscle aches and pains, weakness). I am hoping this subsides soon. I have things to do, places to go, people to see. Ha, the jury is out as to whether or not I would take it again."

"I had a Reclast infusion last Thursday and felt fine the rest of the day. I was tired and went to bed, waking up with severe nausea and bone pain, which created anxiety on top of that. The pain was intense, and I felt like a truck had been dropped on me. This is day 3 after the infusion, and the pain has receded some. The doctor said to take ibuprofen and Tylenol. That didn't do it for me. I took Tramadol to get some pain relief. My doctor said I only had to have it once every 3 years, and that will be soon enough to decide if I want to do it again. Today I'm a little unhappy over how sick I was, and reading other comments, I hope I don't have residual effects."

"I tried oral biphosphonate and experienced severe bone pain, nausea, and reflux. My doctor suggested Reclast. I had the infusion and within 6 hours experienced nausea and tiredness. I had taken the recommended Tylenol before and after. I went to bed and began to experience waves of severe rib pain from my back to front and vomiting. It was many times worse than childbirth. Luckily, I had an opiate pain reliever. That helped a lot. The feeling bad lasted for about 5 days, but the reflux stayed. Never again will I take this drug!!"

"When I started using Aclasta in 2019, something changed in my body. I started feeling too much pain in my thigh, but I thought it was maybe because of the back pain I have. After that, I started feeling pain in my legs, knee, and under my feet. In 2020, it became worse and worse, my GP suggested physiotherapy for three months, but nothing helped. I stopped my job because of the pain I had. When I checked the side effects of Aclasta, I found out that exactly what they said about the side effects is what I have. I have an appointment for another one on 29 October 2021, but honestly, I will never take another one anymore! I should have checked a long time ago when I started getting too much pain. My legs and feet swelled badly. Finally, after waiting for three months, I met a doctor of pain management and he said that I will get injections for back pain. He told me that Aclasta can cause the pain I have."

"Had my first infusion with Reclast yesterday. I was very nervous after reading the reviews, but some positive ones mentioned not only taking Tylenol, but also an allergy pill right before. After getting permission from the doctor, I followed suit. Week before I took 2 calciums per day and drank lots of water, no alcohol. I have been taking 2,000 mg of D3 daily for the last year, hoping it would prevent needing the Reclast, but not so. Day of had a full breakfast and drank about 40 ounces of water. 30 minutes before, I took 2 Tylenol at 11 AM, 1 Zyrtec at 11:20, then off to appointment. I had a glass of water next to me during the procedure. They ran saline through the IV for about 10 to 15 minutes before they added the Reclast. Ran Reclast for about 35 minutes, then 10 minutes more of saline. When I got home, I was tired, but hungry so had soup for lunch, then took a nap for 3 hours. Taking 1 Tylenol every 6 hours. No pain, no fever."

"Horrible experience. First infusion and after this terrible pain, I'm not sure I would do this again. Extreme joint and muscle pain. This is my third day after treatment and the pain just moves from one place to another. I doubt that I would do this again. I want my life back."

"Had my first infusion Nov 15, 2019. I started getting the flu-like symptoms about 8 hours later. Thought it was the end of me. I shook for 2 days with chills. Couldn’t pick my arm up to get the Tylenol off my nightstand. 5 hours later, I finally got them and every blanket I owned. It hurt so much. Then started with throwing up and diarrhea. It’s been 4 days, and I’m still in bed, beyond tired. Not sure how to rate the medicine because it hasn’t started to work yet. But the side effects are really bad. Make sure you have lots of water, Gatorade, and Tylenol or pain meds, you’ll need them."
