Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I have been on Cozaar 50 mg (brand name for Lozartan) for 15 years. Apart for stuffy nose, it worked well. However, in 2020 it started to wear off as I waked up with high BP and shortness of breath. 3 months ago, my Dr changed to Micardis 40 MG, then increased to 60 mg. Since then on Micardis, I developed anxiety and very awful insomnia in spite that I swim regularly. I am planning to quit this awful medicine, and see a cardiologist."

For High Blood Pressure "I have tried several medications for HBP. Telmisartan has great 24 hour control of BP @ 80mg daily. Orher meds such as lisinopril wear off too quick and don't offer good 24 hour control. I have also read that telmisartan even has a slight positive effect on people that may be prediabetic with A1c of 5.7 or more. It is true that there is some orthostatic blood pressure drop when bending over, etc but this is minor compared to other BP meds I have tried."

For High Blood Pressure "I began taking Telmisartan (40mg) for high blood pressure in Nov 2018 - age is 77. My pressure went back to 120/80 but as time went on I experienced muscle pain (tendinitis); difficulty in putting a sentence together, could not remember words and forgot them right away after being told what they were; gained weight; had mild headaches; swelling. Today I decided to do a little research and I realized I was experiencing side effects. Hopefully I will find another way to deal with my blood pressure."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "On starting 40 mg Micardis experienced severe dizziness that lasted about a month, eventually subsiding. Okay for another 4 months then started to have burning and pain in feet and lower legs especially at bedtime. Had to stop even though was doing a good job with blood pressure. Now taking Diovan and doing well."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I am fifty-nine years old, I have been on 40mg of Micardis for over five years now, it does control my blood pressure, but the side effects include the following. When first subscribed Micardis, leg pains were like charlie horses, lasted about 7 months, mostly at night. For the last 2 years, my insomnia is getting worse, so I started taking 2000mg of vitamin D3 that helps with insomnia, now I'm dealing with the constant coughing mostly at night. I will meet with my cardiologist within the next week, will ask for another blood pressure med."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I have done much better on Micardis than on the other one I used to take, Cozaar. Micardis lasts longer and seems to get my pressure way down. I'd say all in all I'm very pleased. My doctor said It's a great drug."

For High Blood Pressure "I've tried pretty much all of the usual medications to manage my blood pressure since being diagnosed with malignant hypertension (200/130) about three years ago, and none of them did more than just take the edge off and caused new and "interesting" side effects. My Dr. suggested Micardis about four months ago, and my blood pressure has been consistently 100-110/60-70 ever since. No side effects."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I suspect causation between Micardis (40mg) and BPPV. I've missed my dose a couple of times, blood pressure rocked up to 140/90's and I felt great the following day. Normally BP is 120/80's on 40mg but I feel like crap with a general level of dizzyness through the day. Sparadoic episodes but this BPPV episode has lasted 6 months now. Worse in morning and means lying down/standing up takes special headmoves to minimise dizzy episode."

For High Blood Pressure "I have taken Telmisartan 20 mg for three days and find the effects/side effects very unpleasant and scary. I have a constant headache, dizziness whether getting up or standing still, increase in chest pain & dyspnea, and increase in blood pressure with systolic up to 190s & diastolic up to 90s. This is similar to effects I had with ARBs 20 years ago but the hypertension expert I saw claimed that the newer ones had virtually no side effects."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I took this medicine 2 years ago for about a month because of my other hypertension medicines were causing rashes. After a couple of medicines were recommended, I took Micardis and although it lowered my pressure some, I was waking up every two hours at night. So I switched to several other medications that also did not work well. I told my MD I would try Micardis again because the side effects were less than all other medicines I had tried. So far (8 months) my pressure is better and the insomnia is workable and not so constant."

For High Blood Pressure "My doctor too me off Amlodipine and Losartan and put me on Micardis now up to 80mg a day and it has not helped my blood pressure at all, in fact my blood pressure has gone up! She didn’t want to believe me, had me bring in my blood pressure machine, then said it was inaccurate and would not change to another med, so I in the process of finding another doctor altogether"

For High Blood Pressure "Have taken it for over 20 yearas. Handles my blood pressure for 24 hours Its the best alternative for someone thats over weight and can't seem to lose the weight. I do get a runny nose and post nasal drip I use otc Clearall that controls it. I tried calcium blockers but they made my ankles swell. Short of losing weight this was my best alternative"

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I had taken Micardis for about 3 years, starting from 40mg and recently 80mg. My doctor said the drug also helped prevent cardiovascular disease. The initial 40mg went well without any side effects. Blood pressure was consistently 130-140/80-90. A few months ago when I turned 38, during my routine blood pressure checks, I noticed that it was 140-150/90-100 even with the 40mg pill. Monitored this for about 2 weeks and it remained thereabouts. After consulting my doctor, he recommended a higher dosage of 80mg. It worked, and the pressure stabilized at 70-90/120-140. However, I did notice a slight discomfort in my respiratory tract or somewhat a mile heartburn (I think!)."

For High Blood Pressure "Started telmisartan in the morning and had to come home from work, due to a headache, being agitated and had trouble with vision. Took my BP and it was 145/106. Rested and now it is normal and I feel better except for the lingering headache. I will take it at night and see if that helps with side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Tried telmisartan for HBP as my father was on it. It DID control the BP, BUT, I developed awful palpitations, found to have frequent (4/min) PVC's, and with exercise and/or anxiety had trigeminy and bigeminy. Did not resolve with beta-blocker. Stopped telmisartan, PVC's resolved in about 7-10 days. As taught in med school, when the patient is getting sicker, sometimes it is best to stop all of the meds."

For High Blood Pressure "I’m 44. I was taking micardis 40mg for the past two months without much problem except ocassional weird pressure in my head and diarrhea. It lowered my bp very well to 120/80 and below. But that could also due to me losing weight healthily and exercising for the past two months. The third month was horrible. My anxiety level went skyrocket, I had fatigue, pressure in my head and all over the body, weak feeling in my knees and elbows. I was admitted for two days due to palpitation which was ruled out as anxiety after my echo/stress test/holter/ blood test came back fine. While wearing the holter I was 100% sure I was having palpitation but the result was otherwise. Now four days without micardis, I am still battling the withdrawal symptom. I am the unlucky one with bp medications, tried amlodipine before and had to go thru 3 weeks of terrible withdrawal symptoms."

For High Blood Pressure "Developed essential stage 1 hypertension of 150-160/90-100 at age 57. Tried Lisinopril 10mg which is the gold standard in the ACE Inhibitor class but immediately developed a gagging cough and had to stop. Next logical step was to try an Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARB) so switched to Telmisartan 20mg but dosage was ineffective. Upped it to 40mg and BP now averages 130/85 which is acceptable for my age. I have a medical background and have read all studies published in refereed professional journals of which there are numerous blind and controlled. Still, always be vigilant for side effects from any long term drug as they can occur without warning at any time. When it comes to essential hypertension, this is as good as it gets!"

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "I've been on Micardis for about a year because I complained about the side effects of Accupril (dizziness). The Micardis is better but I stay around 140/90. I've noticed a reduction in sex drive since starting this drug, all else seems okay. I'm 35 years old."

Micardis (telmisartan) "I took Micardis on and off for over two years. It caused me to have leg cramps. It controlled my blood pressure, but I would avoid taking it at times because of the leg cramps. I developed severe hip and leg pains, which I think may have been caused by the Micardis. I have switched to another blood pressure medicine in the last couple of months and I'm hoping the hip and leg pains will continue to subside."

Micardis (telmisartan) for High Blood Pressure "Started using Micardis HCT 40mg only 3 days ago, as an initial treatment for high blood pressure. No drastic side effects yet, except for slight dizziness, and abdominal pain related to gas (once). I am worried about sexual issues, since there are lots of reports going around saying that Micardis may hamper erectile function. Other reports say exactly the opposite! Will have to test this on a long-time basis. All in all, seems pretty good."

For High Blood Pressure "I have tried this medication twice. It did a great job in lowering my BP and pulse, but I have severe dizziness even while sitting. I cannot walk without help. I took it only 3 days both times. Last time the dizziness and weakness lasted a week. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again as I just went off it."

For High Blood Pressure "I was on Coversyl for high blood pressure for a few years. Doing a fairly decent job. Then I was switched to telimistran 40mg because I have Pulmonary Fibrosis to rule out the cough associated with this condition to my BP med. I was put on telemistran and I feel lousy. My legs feel like they weigh a ton, my sinus issues are magnified, dizziness is present and I get these headaches which are hard to get rid of. Not to mention irritability , sleeplessness and confusion. I'm taking myself off. I'd rather gave the disease than the cure."

For High Blood Pressure "Telmisartan worked great at first. There was a dizziness that passed eventually and then I had a couple months that were just fine. Side effects then started showing up. Diarrhea first. Then a cough started which continued to intensify. Chest pains radiate in every direction, stomach pain, belching, reflux, back pain, intense hip pain, and my feet and legs ache. Weird abdominal pain and not sleeping well. I am a fit, very active person who works out 6 days a week. I feel awful. Did lower my blood pressure with random spikes though"
