Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Infection "I took Bactrim for 4 days. On the 4th day, I started having leg pain. The day after I quit the meds, I had all over body aches, a low grade temp off and on and just a feeling of being ick. The next day, my aches went away but held on to the low grade temp, headache and weakness for two more days. During the course of the medication, I also had a pounding heart and no appetite. It did clear the infection though. I think I had a bad reaction and only wanted to report these so that others might know if they have the same thing happening to them. It took about 5 days from my last pill that I feel better."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim for a UTI. Felt fine the first day. By day 2, I experienced horrible symptoms or side effects. I was having severe anxiety, nausea, increased heart rate, and shaking in my body. Called my doctor and she said to continue taking it but after reading all of these reviews I’ve decided to stop taking the antibiotics. So scary to see so many other women going through the same thing!"

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Acne "I love this. It is the ONLY thing that has ever cleared up my acne (face and body) completely. I've tried Proactiv, Retin-A, salicyclic acid products, benzoyl peroxide products, the sun, avoiding the sun, only skin-healthy foods, enough sleep, etc., etc. and nothing works long term consistently. Life is just miserable when you have to show a pimply face- you are perceived as ugly and not clean. I'll take the risks of too much antibiotic use over being treated poorly for my appearance."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Skin Infection "Day 3 on BACTRIM due to MRSA. Abscess was lanced and drained 5 days ago. Swelling/Pain of the abscess has finally begun remission. I did suffer from the reported migraine headache all day yesterday and it was quite debilitating, but no such headache today and I'm finally back at work. Also suffered from some seriously painful abdominal cramps that produced very loose/watery stool. Not much of an appetite today and feeling a little shaky so make sure you eat even if you don't want to. This drug is definitely very effective for treatment of MRSA. If the migraines were constant as others described I wouldn't not be back at work today. All my best wishes to everyone reading this."

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "I'm very obsessive. Somewhere around a few years ago I started obsessing and being paranoid about medications. So, as I'm sure you are all doing right now, you're looking up reviews on this medication to determine if you'll take it. Just like I did. I almost gave myself a panic attack thinking about possibly taking this medicine and then having a serious allergic reaction. Luckily though, while speaking with my pharmacist he let me know I took this medicine last year and I remembered I was fine. The point is, every medicine has adverse effects. Chances are, you won't have major side effects. "

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "honestly not terrible. I was prescribed Bactrim 2 doses/day for 7 days after they prescribed keflex (which didn’t work). A little nausea after the first couple doses, some indigestion, some lower back pain. As long as you drink lots of water with the pill and throughout the day the side effects are pretty mild. I had ginger chews and pepto for stomach issues that worked well. Eat a big meal before you take the pill too. kombucha, yogurt, and probiotics during and after the course will help your stomach heal. I would much prefer this over a kidney infection. If you’re having major side effects from day one, perhaps try something different. Everyone reacts differently!"

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Infection "3 days into the course, and I am experiencing: 1. Very bad dizzy spells. 2. Feelings of great weakness. 3. Feelings of great anxiety. 4. Feelings like I am dying, 5. My head & stomach are aching up a storm. 6 I am nauseated & vomiting. 7. Vagina burning, that started on the second day. I HAVE had Bactrim before for UTI's but have NEVER experienced what I am with this darn one. My question is what have they put/added into the drug to make me react in such a horrid nasty way?"

Septra DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "I feel like it saved my life. I got my first UTI and it was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I didn't sleep for two days and was not only peeing blood but peeing clots of blood. My back ached, my hips ached and I was completely exhausted. The morning after I took my first pill, all symptoms were gone. ALL SYMPTOMS WERE GONE. I of course was still exhausted but that was from little sleep the previous days. I had zero side effects. Now I'm back to normal, loving life."

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "Bactrim did a great job! My whole lower part of the body hurt and burned, it was awful. I couldn't even walk for a while without feeling strong pain. Going to the toilet was a nightmare and it happened every five minutes. I took Bactrim and the symptoms got worse, but then in two days I was cured. no pain, no nothing. Bactrim is perfect."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Skin Infection "I took Bactrim for a while now for bacteria of the hair follicles and it has helped a lot plus using dial soap. But every time I get boils it heals them. I don't have any side effects to the medicine. Every time I get this infection I have to take Bactrim because I can't take penicillin."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "This drug is terrible!! Run if the Dr prescribes this. Day 1 I had a headache and aches to my kidneys. Like I could literally feel the pain to my kidneys!! I felt bloated, vomiting, fever of 101, pain to kidneys, jittery and chills. Pls pls don't take it. The ratio of the ones that had no symptoms to the ones who did is a big difference! I took it for 2 days then threw the rest down the toilet. The ONLY good thing was I took 1 dose and the next day felt relief...but still.... eff this stuff!"

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "I am the type of person who is sensitive to chemicals, smells, sounds, etc. I rarely need meds and recently had to take bactrim ds for five days due to a UTI. I was sooo nervous about taking it. I was convinced I would be allergic to it, or at least have side affects. Well, all that worrying was for nothing. I took it as prescribed for five days with no problem at all! I hope you do well on it too if you need it!"

For Bacterial Infection "Worst antibiotic ever. Felt like I was a losing my mind for the 5 out of 10 prescribed days I took it, thought about death constantly, severe anxiety/panic attacks, I felt high like out of body. Weird, awful dreams. I am usually able to calm myself and just zen out, not on this stuff. Literally asked God to take care of my son and husband when I die due to death obsessed thoughts. Please ask for a different medicine if you can. Scary stuff."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Skin Infection "I went to dermatologists for five years because of cysts/boils that were on my butt. I'd get one, it would go away, and I'd get another one. Doctors would put me on expensive medication that did nothing. Then I found the best dermatologist in the city and waited for four months to see him. The doctor said I would take Bactrim/sulfa 500mg 2x's a day for 30 days. I did that and they disappeared. He said some people have to take them for life, others would take them for 10 days when you have any little sign or a boil or cyst. I start taking the medication and the cyst or boil disappears. What a miracle treatment it's been to me as a person prone to cysts and boils!!!"

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Diverticulitis "I have frequent episodes of diverticulitis. My doctor prescribes a 10-day supply of Bactrim DS. Many times 10 days is not enough to completely clear up the problem so I wind up needing an additional 10 days worth of medicine. I have not had any bad side effects from this drug. I wish someone would create a drug to prevent diverticulitis."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "Had not read side effects so did not realize what I felt was caused by the med. My first day on bactrim I had side effects of feeling achy and depressed. By day 3 I was shaking, shivering, anxious, insomnia. By day 5 nausea, dizziness, 100 heart rate, very low blood pressure, extreme anxiety. Pain everywhere, pain in my kidneys, very dehydrated, painful muscle spasms. Day 6 was going to go to emergency room when I realized it could be the bactrim and read side effects. Find it difficult to believe a doctor would give this to anyone. It was horrible."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "After reading about possible side effects and reading all of the negative reviews for Bactrim, I was scared to take it after the Macrobid failed to cure my UTI. After 7 days of taking Augmentin, which also failed to work and gave me diarrhea, I braced myself and took the Bactrim. I want to report that I had no side effects at all, and it cleared up my infection. I would advise anyone prescribe this drug for a UTI to go ahead and take it, and don’t drive yourself crazy with worry like I did."

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "Hey you, yeah, you reading this review. Take a breath. If you're speeding through all of these experiences, you're probably looking for potential side effects and reactions of other people. I know, because I'm just like you. I can tell you the first day I took Bactrim, I had a horrible migraine. The worst I've had in months. But guess what--I also didn't drink coffee that day after having a constant intake for weeks. I had other problems like chills, but wait, I got this medicine for an infection! So many symptoms people experience are likely a result of other things. My uti went away. I drank lots of water and milk with it. Other than experiencing a few more headaches, and a bit of tiredness, I was fine."

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "This Bactrim stuff is awful!!! Taking for a UTI. I am used to taking cipro, but have stopped due to the nasty side effects of that one. Have been taking the Bactrim for the UTIs instead. Every time I take this stuff I feel weak and dizzy, my head hurts so bad, and I get antsy and stir crazy. I don't want to eat or sleep and the nausea can be overwhelming. This stuff makes me feel like I am going to fade away and die. Once the medication wears off I feel much better, but then its time to take another dose and it starts all over again. Ugh!!! It gets rid of the painful infection, but my I just feel so awful while I am on this stuff."

For Bacterial Infection "This antibiotic is very effective at clearing most bacterial infections quickly. You'll usually feel improvements within 48 hours. But as a bunch of other reviews have stated, bactrim gave me terrible anxiety and had my heart pounding out of my chest for 10 hours straight. Sleeping is nearly impossible. So 10/10 efficacy but 1/10 for side effects. I wouldn't take it again unless my life depended on it."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Infection "There seems to be a lot of people who have had side effects. But seriously, Bactrim is a drug with not many side effects for most people. The people who mainly think to write comments are usually the few that have had the bad reactions. For me it was fine."

Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Bacterial Skin Infection "Currently on day 3 of a 10 day antibiotic blast of Bactrim after 2 days on Keflex. What I had originally thought was a pimple on my septum just inside my right nostril turned out to be a staph infection. I had lances the "pimple" when it came to a head, thinking it would provide relief, however the infection spread across my nares and over the tip of my nose overnight. Went to urgent care as I instantly suspected staph as the culprit and was prescribed Keflex and Bactroban topical until my follow up with my PCP. Infection showed moderate improvement at my follow up, but was then prescribed Bactrim. Within 24 hours the itch and swelling had completely subsided. By 48 hours the sores were cluster-scabbing, and today they're falling off!"

Probiotics are over the counter. Before I could not take Bactrim or Keflex. Now no problem. I am on Bactrim for boils and taking the probiotic. "

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim) for Urinary Tract Infection "I asked my doctor for a different type of antibiotic to take for this urinary tract infection instead of Cipro. This is my second day taking Bactrim for my UTI and I can already see improvement! It feels like the infections almost gone. I do however get a little bit of an upset stomach so eat something substantial just before taking it and drink a few more bottles of water than normal and you will be golden!"
