Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I had my left knee injected with Durolane in December 2019. I had previously had successful injections of Synvisc over a period of four years, and that gel worked great. This time, United HC approved both Synvisc and Durolane. I wanted the synvisc, but the doctor wanted to spare me three injections. I stupidly accepted her advice and did the Durolane. Holy Moly- my knee still hurts like anything. All the time. It's on fire. My new doctor said I may have to wait another six months before he could inject Synvisc. My advice - stay away from Durolane."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I am a 49 year old female suffering from severe osteoarthritis of right knee. Have tried steriod injections with very temporary relief (less than a month) Dr recommended Durolane. Had my injection yesterday (2/4/2021) Pain was very intense and nearly fell when I stood up to leave. Had a pounding headache by the time I got home and had a rough time getting in the house. Iced knee and took ibuprofen as recommended. Ached through the night but I was able to sleep on and off. When I woke this morning the pain is worse than before the injection. As I walked into kitchen knee gave out and I nearly fell. I am off work today and tomorrow. Praying that taking it easy and icing knee, the pain will subside soon. I'm wishing I didn't get the injection at this point. I have pain radiating in both directions (from knee to ankle/from knee to hip) I'll keep you updated on when and if this pain lets up."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I am 65 with osteoarthritis in both knees. My orthpaedist gave me a round of cortisone, saying if it helped, the Euflexxa most likely would as well. Luckily the cortisone helped; I proceeded with 3 sets of injections. Both the cortisone and the first 2 sets of Euflexxa were excruciatingly painful, all administered by different people with scan guidance. The 4th set (3rd Euflexxa) was absolutely painless due to skill of person administering. I almost didn't finish the series because of the pain of injections. However, in the long run, the Euflexxa gave me 5 months totally pain free. One knee has started to become painful again but the other is still great at 8 months. Time for another round of Euflexxa!"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before having this injection or I might never have tried it. My left knee is bone on bone and I tore the meniscus on Christmas Eve 2020. My knee is in such bad shape the ortho surgeon wouldn't do a repair - said it wouldn't be worth it without replacing it totally. He suggested trying the Durolane injection and I did. It didn't do anything for the first almost 3 weeks but then one day I realized I didn't need my crutches anymore and could walk without pain for the first time in about 2 years. Yes, the injection is very uncomfortable. And yes, I feel crappy afterwards and my knee is swollen, painful and stiff. But I had 6 pretty much pain free months before needing my second one just this week. I'm 53 and if this can help me put off knee replacement then I will be a happy camper."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I had the injection on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I have started having trouble walking on/moving my left knee without pain. My doctor said it might take a couple of weeks before I see positive effects so I will reserve final judgement for the next 10 days."

Supartz (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I got no relief after I started my Supartz injections so I just waited and hoped that eventually I would get some relief. I received the 5th injections 2 weeks ago and my pain now is worse than ever and some days I’m almost immobile. I am not able to even step off of a curb without help and some days the pain is so bad that I can't get out of bed. I opted for it because of the positive reviews. I’m sure it works for some people. I’m glad I tried even though it didn’t work for me."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "Try orthotic insoles first then Durolane. I had knee pain diagnosed as osteoarthritis and it got worse over time. In October, I could not walk, the pain of bone on bone was impossible. Signed up for double knee replacement. In the meantime tried orthotic insoles. What a lifesaver! Cartilage was worn out on both knees on the inside only. This indicated a biomechanical problem. The doctor preparing the insoles noted I had flat feet and these insoles straightened out my walk. This allowed the inflammation to subside as the load was now spread. A few months later, to stabilize the knees, I tried durolane. 1 week into it, and some stiffness and discomfort in the injected knee, but I can feel a big reduction in pain and more stability. The injection was no problem. Now my worse injected knee is better than my better non-injected knee. If you have addressed the underlying issue, maybe the Durolane becomes more effective. Good luck!"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I have osteoarthritis bone on bone both knees. The pain in the right knee is worse than the left. I had no relief from a cortisone injection. The right knee was injected with Euflexxa. About 72 hours post injection, I developed bruising and swelling in the area that was injected. I was nauseous, hot and sweaty, but had no fever. The knee was extremely painful, with increased swelling. Nothing relieved the pain. The doctor aspirated fluid, and sent it for analysis and sent me for blood work. Results were normal. My experience with Euflexxa has been a nightmare. I still have pain at night and cannot sleep, and there is a constant nagging pain in the the area where injected that is hard and extends upward a few inches. The doctor cannot tell me what happened. He has referred me to a surgeon to discuss knee replacement. I am thoroughly depressed over the entire experience not to mention the constant pain."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I had such high hopes that these Euflexxa injections would work for me. Did absolutely nothing but waste my time Tip! If you are going to get these injections I recommend that you go to someone who uses the guided ultrasound for proper placement of the injection site . If I had know this before I went to my doctor, I would have requested the guided ultrasound"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I'm a 43 year old with a left knee that has osteoporosis. I had my meniscus repaired by surgery. I went to the required physical therapy. Everything was fine until it started hurting and swelling again. The orthopedic doctor then gave a steroid injection to my knee and my knee got much better but because I knew that would probably be a temporary relieve, I wanted a bit more longer term solution. My doctor then suggested I get the euflexa shots. I agree and was hoping for longer relieve. I received 1 injection and that was enough for me. My knee was hurting for almost 2 weeks, I could barely walk, it was swollen and medication was not giving me relieve at all. Now almost a month later my knee is not better. Still gets swollen, it hurts and I cant walk like I used right before the euflexa injection. I regret getting this injection and do not recommend the injection to anyone. It was a waste of money and a waste of time getting it."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "im a 55 y/o female who suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and polyneuralgia. I had my first injection yesterday. The injection was a bit more of a sting than most shots and there was a brief period of pressure, but overall, not that painful. It may or may not be related to Euflexxa, but a couple hours later, I was curled up in bed in incredible inflammatory pain. I received the injection around 2:30 pm, the inflamed state began around 4:00 pm, but by 11:00 pm or so, I was feeling great! I didn't get to sleep until after 3:00 am, slept in to 10:00 am, and woke up a bit weak. After meds and a cup of soup, I was revived and ready to go! I ran my errands full of energy! It felt weird that I wasn't limping!"

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "Got first shot 4 days ago and my knee has been swollen every day since, ankles are both swollen, cannot bend knee and scared to even move...especially walk. Not sure I will make it to where I need to go. Before the shot at least I could get around now what am I to do? Knee replacement seems to be the only option. Contemplating!!"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I had injections in both the right, and left knees at the same time. The right knee did okay, but the left knee was absolutely horrible. Within 4 hours of injections I had the most horrific reaction. The pain was the most extreme pain. I had pain killers and it would not relieve the pain. It was so bad I wanted to call an ambulance . The only reason I didn't was because my bedroom is up stairs, and I couldn't make the trip downstairs. I knew the only way the paramedics could get to me was breaking a 1500. Dollar door down. So I kept taking more pain killers and finally after 7 hours I had relief. Since the injections I have severe leg cramps in both legs, wow over the top! Itching over my body, bad lower back pain, RLS, and nausea. This continues. .. every day. My legs barely moves. Before treatment I was walking 2 1/2 miles daily, and I 'm 65.... obviously, I had a severe allergic reaction. Would not ever recommend. ...."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "Osteoarthritis is part of my life in hips, shoulders, ankles, and most of all those knees. My knees are bone on bone and cortisone (not good for long term) is not long lasting. Noting the complications and side effects of total knee replacements, to say nothing of pain and rehab, I am not interested in giving up my golf and life for months. My Ortho Doc suggested Euflexxa a year ago and as a last resort, I agreed. I had my third week of injections yesterday and all I can say is that I have had a HUGE improvement. On a scale of 0-10, my pain was 9.9 and now I am at a minimal discomfort around a 3. Hoping it lasts for the full six months. It is wonderful to go up and down stairs forward rather than turning sideways."

I just wish the insurance would cover the injection. They wont cover it because they state the ankle is not a major joint!?"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "Finished up my 3 rounds euflexxa shots 2 weeks ago on both knees. Both knees have no cartilage but only one with severe arthritis (left.) Have had cortisone shots which first worked well (I am jogger). When the cortisone started wearing off after a shorter time, dr. recommended euflexxa. The injection was very painful and almost didn't go back. I shouldn't have gone back, for now, I can't even jog anymore. Before I could run with some pain but now it's unbearable. I am very active, exercising 5 days a week and now it's extremely difficult. I will never do this again."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "Thin 55 y/o runner with bone on bone osteoarthritis and lots of pain. Decided to do the 3 injections of Euflexxa. Doctor did the first 2 and had minimal problems with little pain and a NP did the last with out the sonogram for placement of the injection and it was a very painful experience and I have not been able to walk since then. It’s been 2 weeks and I’m hoping it gets better soon. Upset that I let the NP do the injection. Given my experience I will not be doing this again. As mentioned before by others many times, not worth the time & expense. I hope to get back to where I was before the treatment. I’m in a great deal of pain with lots of difficulty walking. Really bummed for I travel a lot and have great difficulty walking now."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I had Supartz injections several years ago with good results. When I moved, the new Dr said Euflexxa had fewer side effects. This was certainly not the case for me. I was in constant pain and almost a cripple for 6 months. I couldn't walk up stairs, or do most of my normal activities. I spent most days on the couch with bags of ice on both knees. Cortizone was useless. There appears to be no treatment for this side effect. I am an active person, of normal weight. Both knees are still swollen, but the pain is better than it was. I read that it could be another 6 months before I feel better. I wouldn't recommend this medication to anyone. It's not worth the risk of losing 6 months of your life that you'll never get back."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I love Euflexxa! I've had 5 rounds of it over 5 years. Yes, I'm bone on bone, but still have a bit of space in my knee joint for the medication to get in and be useful. Since I've had 2 orthopods tell me that studies show that knee injections done blind only actually get in the joint space 2 out of 3 times (despite the claimed skill of the doctor in doing injections) I have the Euflexxa injected under floroscopy by a radiologist to be sure the medication goes to the correct space (my husband is a radiologist who suggested it this way if I wanted to be sure). Euflexxa is the difference between me being able to walk (limp) 20 feet in severe pain, and me being able to walk for long distances for many hours WITHOUT pain. I'm not ready for knee replacement mentally and this is a wonderful thing. I've never had any reaction and find pain subsides after the 2nd injection and lasts fully for 6 months and then I start hurting again and need another round at about 8 to 10 months out."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I am 68 years old and have OA in both knees. I have been nearly bone to bone on the left side. Three years ago I had so much pain that it was difficult to walk, and could hardly stand. I work 8 hours per day on my feet, so my Dr suggested Euflexxa injections and I must say they were a MIRACLE for me! I have had them every 6 months in both knees for the past three years and I have always gotten great results and relief. I have been able to work daily and not miss any time off, as well as work in my yard, and chase the grandkids around. I just started another round, and I am having a lot of pain in left knee but right knee is responding as usual, however, it is feeling like I may be facing a knee replacement on the left side. If your insurance will cover this drug, it is WELL worth the investment. It has bought me several years of mobility and pain free, even though it may be replacement on the one. I will come back and give an update after series is complete."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "I am 66 years old, with bone-on-bone arthritis in my left knee. I had mild discomfort walking, and it took away my favorite activity, walking two or three miles a day. Euflexxa has worked great for me. I asked the doctor if I should return in six months for another series of injections, and he said not necessarily. He said for the patients Euflexxa works for, it tends to work very well and be long-lasting. And hopefully in a few years regenerated cartilage will make knee replacement surgery a thing of the past."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "1st shot I had started relieving my pain of going from sitting to standing. Had 2nd shot yesterday, sitting icing it now. My trainer is due in an hr so we will do upper body only which is what the ortho said for the day after a shot. I had a torn meniscus repair in December 2013 and my pain started again in March, I thought I had torn it again but he said nope, bone on bone. So far so good on this and I am 62. I am active with my personal trainer 3 times a week for the past 1.5yrs and I can't wait to be 100% active again."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) for Osteoarthritis "This works for me-usually between 8 to 12 months. Relief has been quick-even after the first injection. I have had this (I think) 5 times. My knee is never perfect, but it significantly delays the inevitable progression of knee fixes---surgery to clean it up, knee replacement, etc. I started when I was 45 years old as bad knees run in the family. The injections can be somewhat painful and some are very painful--for a few moments at least. It is hard to voluntarily go in knowing it might be intense. BUT--- I can walk around and live a fairly normal life by suffering a bit. Well worth it. I'd be in a wheelchair without these things-so I can't complain."
