Sibutramine "You must be your own advocate and do your research about Meridia and the current drugs you are taking! I was overweight, diabetic, with high blood pressure and high liver enzymes. My doctor thought more pills and/or shots or increasing dosages was the answer to everything. I was on 11 different medicines and had no energy and just wanted to sleep all the time. Doctor prescribed Meridia, nothing happened. Four weeks later, she increased the dose, no change. So I was complaining about not losing any weight, and someone said, 'maybe there's a drug interaction with something you're already taking.' I never even considered that. Went online and gee-whiz, and bang, it wasn't just the Meridia, there were several interactions going on! Don't do this without consulting your doctor! I went off all the medicines and started from scratch. Began with 2 of the diabetic and 1 blood pressure medicine. My appetite dropped immediately. Took sugar and blood pressure readings every 4 hours for a week. My sugar and blood pressure stayed normal. So I added the Meridia. I ate only half servings of whatever I wanted other than sweets. My goal was not to diet but to learn a new eating behavior. My weight was 199.5 lbs, and now 6 weeks later, I've lost 16 pounds (2-3 pounds a week). Had to reduce the dose of my diabetic medicines two times. (I'm totally off the insulin.) Now I only take the 2 diabetic and 1 blood pressure medicine and the Meridia (15 mg) daily. I feel good and have normal energy. I have very mild nausea every day and get massive heartburn if I eat too many carbohydrates. The cost is $196.00 a month. But this is well worth it to get my weight stable and improve my health."

Sibutramine "I decided to start taking sibutramine to lose weight that I had gained last year. I chose this because you can use it long-term, unlike the stimulants. When I first started it, I barely noticed any effects (15 mg). My weight was 240 lbs starting. Then, about a week in, I started to notice a major reduction in appetite and was doing quite well. I was able to get down to 231 lbs in 1.5 weeks. Sadly, this weight loss came with major dysphoric side effects, such as tremors, anxiety, muscle twitch, insomnia, mood swings, akathisia, etc. It felt like I was poisoned/going crazy. Therefore, I had to stop it. I wish I could have continued as the weight loss was going great. Bad reactions stopped after discontinuing the sibutramine."

Sibutramine "I started using Meridia in February 2009. I weighed 190 lbs. I eat healthier, don't crave junk food anymore, and walk for about an hour every day or sometimes every other day. I now weigh 149 lbs and have so much energy. It's expensive but worth it."

Sibutramine "At 30, I've been a size 14 my whole adult life. I started Meridia one year ago at 185 lbs following the birth of my second son, and although I plateaued for several months around the holidays, I'm now 140 lbs and nearly a size 4."

Sibutramine "I started taking Meridia about 2-3 weeks ago and haven't lost a pound. In fact, it actually has been doing the opposite of what it is supposed to do. It doesn't really control my appetite and actually makes me crave lots of sweets."

Sibutramine "I tried this drug out a year ago. Very expensive and worked wonderfully in controlling my cravings and appetite, but then the side effects started. I had horrible headaches. This is not a symptom I could deal with, so I had to give it up. Hopefully, it won't cause headaches for many people, but if it does, I'm so sorry because they truly hurt."

Sibutramine "I started taking Meridia in November of 2008. When I started, I was 220 lbs. I now weigh 179 lbs. I have arthritis in both knees, and it's hard to exercise, but with the extra weight off, I find I can go for walks now. I have had one good side effect with Meridia that is not on the list. I used to suffer from migraines. I was having at least 4 a month. Since I started taking Meridia, my migraines have gone down to 1 every other month. I told my doctor, and she was shocked and happy for me."

Sibutramine "I have been on Meridia since April 1 and went for my weigh-in again, and as of June 5, I have lost 22 lbs. I have had no side effects at all. I have tried everything in the past to lose weight, and this is the only product that has worked for me. I give it 10/10."

Sibutramine "I took Meridia in 2000. I lost 60 pounds in 6 months. I had no side effects, the only thing I noticed was that my tastes changed. I didn't want the fried foods or the sweets. I never knowingly changed my eating habits, it just happened. I have to confess, in the nine years, I have gained 40 pounds, but I can pinpoint the cause of each group of weight gain. I gained 10 pounds undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer (they say it is due to eating comfort foods...like a bowl of ice cream every night for the eight months I was undergoing chemo and radiation), 10 pounds when I had shoulder surgery 2 years later, and 20 this 2 years ago when I quit smoking. I am considering going back on the pill, as I am a firm believer that it works."

Sibutramine "I have used this drug before when I weighed 265 lbs. I went off of this drug because it became too expensive, but I weighed 190 lbs after three months. This pill really works, but you have to at least eat less and try to be more active, that's all I did. Plus, when your weight is in the 200s, it's easier to get the excess weight off. This medicine is expensive, but it is worth it."

Sibutramine "I have been on Meridia 10 mg for approximately a week and a half. The only side effect that I have had is jittery sleep (i.e., I wake up a few times throughout the night and am very alert but can go right back to sleep - it's odd! I am usually a VERY heavy sleeper), but this is no deal-breaker. Meridia has already been extremely effective - I have lost 6 pounds in a week and a half. I am about 40 lbs overweight, so I still have a long way to go, but it is such a relief that this is getting the ball rolling - the weight loss finally feels surmountable. Other reviewers are certainly correct - you do have to put in effort on this medication - it isn't a magic pill. I have stuck religiously to a 1200 cal diet & cardio for 30 min 5 days/week."

"I lose more weight when I combine this pill with Weight Watchers or the equivalent. I don't feel hungry and can easily skip a meal. It does increase your heart rate, so cut out all excess caffeine or you won't feel well at all. Terrible cramping and urgent bowel voids if you eat fatty foods on this medication, so stick with a healthy diet plan. After I plateau around week 8, I double my daily dose and started losing again. It's becoming harder to get online."

Sibutramine "I was under doctor's care on Meridia for weight loss for about a year. I had consistent normal blood pressure all my life. My blood pressure started to go up slowly, which seemed okay with the doctor at the time. Well, now I am off this drug and on blood pressure medicines for life! Without the blood pressure medicines, my pressure is high all the time. My doctor said this can happen when a drug sparks it. Be careful with Meridia!"

Sibutramine "Extremely effective. No cravings for anything, and even when you eat small portions, it will satisfy you. 33 lbs in 3 months, and I have a lot of energy and mental clarity. Dry mouth and some insomnia."

Sibutramine "I had 6 weeks to plan my wedding, and I wanted to look my best. I started taking Meridia, and I lost over 15 pounds in the 6 weeks. It helped so much with the cravings and late-night eating. I didn't even want to look at food. Plus, it made me feel happy. It got me through a very difficult time in my life while trying to plan a wedding. Rather expensive, but worth it. No noticeable side effects."

Sibutramine "At a starting weight of 162 lbs, I was about 30 lbs overweight. I have taken Meridia for exactly one month and have had no side effects. I lost 10 lbs by taking the pill, watching calories, and exercising. I make sure I exercise for 30 minutes at least 4 times per week. I am happy with the medicine. I believe it's important to learn to have better habits while you are on it. Going off the medicine should not cause weight gain unless you start consuming more calories or aren't exercising."

Sibutramine "Works well to control appetite by making you feel fuller, longer. I need this medication because I am overweight from certain medicines I take (for bipolar affective disorder), which cause an unrelenting appetite. Not good if you have poorly controlled hypertension, but mine is controlled with medication, and I monitor it every few days. Watch if you take it with an antidepressant (become familiar with the symptoms of 'serotonin syndrome,' which is a dangerous condition that can result from the combination of the two medicines). Not covered by my health insurance-Rx plan; will cost over $100.00 cash a month. You can maximize the benefits of this medicine if you combine it with reduced food intake, better food choices, and increased physical activity."

Sibutramine "I have lost 11.5 lbs in the first six weeks of taking this drug. However, the first week, the side effects were horrible (anxiety, insomnia, irregular heartbeat) until my body got used to the product. As I enter week 7 of my 3-month course, I find that Meridia is having an opposite effect on my appetite. I am constantly hungry at this point. My doctor will probably have to increase my dose for the next month. Please keep in mind that you have to do everything you can to control your own diet and exercise schedule. This is not a miracle drug, but something to get you over the hill for a short period of time until you are comfortable enough to continue weight loss of your free will. Hope this helps. Good luck to all."

Sibutramine "It really was upsetting this drug was removed from the market in 2010. I lost 98 lbs by 2 years with the help of Meridia. It was nice to see immediate results with my weight after I made behavioral changes. This helped motivate me to do more behavioral changes, eating less and exercising more. Now most of my weight is back and everything is, once again, a struggle..."

Sibutramine "I have been taking 10 mg since Nov. 5, 2009. I have gone from 203 to 177. I went off for two weeks this past month, and I have not gained but have stayed the same. During my time off, however, I had times of high anxiety and irritability, especially when starting the medication again. My blood pressure and pulse rate have been fine. I have had some constipation problems. I think my Dr. will raise my dose to 15 mg at my next appointment. My goal weight is 150. I feel so much better. It has helped with mild depression as well. Good luck."

Sibutramine "I have now been on Meridia since May 25, 2009, and am happy with the results. I started walking 20-30 minutes once a day, three times a week. I don't have the usual cravings for carbohydrates or sweet and salty foods, and for once I feel like I have control over my appetite, thanks to Meridia. I was also approved for one year on my insurance. When I started, I weighed in at 239 lbs, so far, I have lost 6 lbs. Good luck to you all."

Sibutramine "I am 31 and have been on Meridia since April 29, 2009. I have to date lost 28 lbs. I have not experienced any major side effects besides dry mouth, which usually goes away with water. The pills are expensive since they are not covered by my insurance. Therefore, I don't plan on being on them for more than 5-6 months. I work out a few times a week and really watch what I eat. If you don't change your eating habits, you will definitely gain all the weight back. I wish you all success."

Sibutramine "I have been on Meridia for almost a week now. I have not weighed myself due to the fact I hate the scale. The drug took effect after about 2 days where I can honestly say that my cravings/snack sessions have ceased, I have begun to try portion control, and it seems to work (where I am satisfied with a lot less). I am not constipated, and I do feel like I have more energy, but I'm still able to get a decent night's sleep. I notice if I exercise (even if I don't feel like it), I get energy. My blood pressure is fine thus far, but I will continue to monitor it as I progress. No headaches or breakthrough bleeding, no stomach aches. I have a slight lower backache, but that may be due to the sit-ups being done improperly."

Sibutramine "After much research and visits with my physician, I have decided to give it a try. Although it is costly ($135!), I am hopeful that it will aid in my weight loss goal. So I took my first dose today, not sure if I'm just mentally in the right frame of mind since it is only day 1, but I have zero appetite whatsoever, I actually had to force myself to eat something. Food seems unappealing right now, so it makes it easier to select healthy choices. No side effects (yet). Best of luck to everyone in their endeavors to a healthy body!"

"I have always have a problem with weight and food. I was a fat kid, fat teenager, and fat man. Finally, I got my life back and lost 150 pounds (73 kg). But with no medicine. It was a very stressful and miserable journey. A lot of relapsing in binge eating and gaining back the weight. I always have the question: why am I always hungry and craving food? Untill last year, I took sibutramine by accident. Miracle, just a miracle for me. No craving, no open appetite, no food noise, nothing, I became a normal person with a normal appetite. But this medicine is not available legally. I get it by illegal means. I am so sad because the world has a miracle medicine, and it is not available for obese people. I think the FDA should reconsider it."
