Selenium sulfide topical "Selsun Blue had been suggested to me by my doctor for tinea versicolor, and as soon as I started using it, I woke up the next day with my 'spots' doubled pretty much. Now I'm so itchy that I can't sleep sometimes."

"A dermatologist said to use Selsun Blue 1% - coat my body with it at bedtime, let it dry, put on old PJs, leave it on overnight, and shower it off in the morning - do this once a week for 3 weeks. This worked incredibly well, right from the first treatment. I did have a bit of chemical burning in my armpit area - in creases like that, just blot a little of the wetness off before it dries - no problems after that. Part of the reason I went to see the dermatologist was to get help with the overall bumpiness of the skin all over my body. It’s like every hair follicle was inflamed and had a little bump in the follicle. Although she recommended other treatments, it was the Selsun treatments that completely cleared this up from the very first night. I’m from Canada, so no cost for 3 dermatologist appointments (plus a follow-up in 2 weeks) and the Selsun was purchased at Wal-Mart for less than $15 (maybe $12/$13)."

Selenium sulfide topical "I've had some success using Selsun Blue for tinea versicolor. I've had it for years, not knowing what it was, but I pinpointed it. I value the healing that Selsun Blue has done for it, but I really don't like the smell. I leave it on for about a half an hour and shower it off. It hasn't fully gotten rid of it, but it's gotten pretty close."

Selenium sulfide topical "Efficient if you do washing with Mercryl solution before using. Then you keep Selsun on skin 20 minutes before rinsing. I used it that way for three weeks every two days, then two weeks every three days, then two weeks every four days, then one week every five days, one week every six days, and once a week for three weeks. It's not very comfortable to keep it 20 minutes on skin and it does smell, but this is really the only medicine with good results and quite cheap, with Mercryl about 10 euro/month."

"I've had this condition for at least 15 years. It started with a small spot and now covers my left buttock, a large patch on my lower back, and several patches on my left leg and foot. I visited my family doctor shortly after noticing it and was told it's permanent and that there's no cure for it. I was driving a truck at the time and being in work boots all day every day, I suspected it was a yeast issue, but he discounted that. NOW that I'm reading all of these reviews and everyone having positive results, I am so excited to get home from this vacation to purchase some Selsun Blue and start using it. I really hope this works. As so many of you can relate, I'm sure you all know the stares from people wondering 'what's wrong with his leg?' I came on vacation one year and didn't apply sunscreen to those areas, wow was that a mistake. I burned right away and blistered. It was painful the whole time I was away. I'll share my results with you in a few weeks, hopefully great results!"

"I am not sure if this will work for me. I followed directions on my bottle from my pharmacy that simply said, apply once a day for 7 days (conveniently leaving out the part where you rinse off in 10 minutes). I just found this out (day 4, applying after taking evening showers and leaving on): chemical burns under my breasts, feeling pretty dumb but also upset my directions weren’t more specific. Not bashing the product (I’ve been using it wrong)."

"Wash with Selsun Blue. I left it on for 10-60 minutes, then pat the spots with apple cider vinegar. After drying, aloe vera. Great results in 5 days."

"Works like a charm. It's a bit messy, though. Leave it on 30 minutes, then take a shower and repeat in 3 days."

Selenium sulfide topical "I bought over the counter and added 7 drops of tea tree oil, which is an antifungal. I have had this condition for 40 years. I have been to doctors, but I try different methods. This is the first time with Selsun shampoo. I showered and then used the shampoo and left it on for 10 minutes. The itch is already better. It is hard to rate it because it is the first time I used it with the tea tree oil."
