Selsun Blue (selenium sulfide) for Tinea Versicolor "Selsun blue had been suggested to me by my doctor for Times Versicolor and as soon as I started using it I woke up the next day with my "spots" doubled pretty much, now I'm so itchy that I can't sleep sometimes."

For Tinea Versicolor "I’ve had Tinea Versicolor since highschool. Up until recently nothing I’ve tried has helped. Someone recommended I use Selson 1% and it was the best advice I’ve ever gotten. Within 2 days the intense itching had gone away and the spots have already begun to fade drastically at 3 weeks. I have an upcoming vacation to the beach and I’m actually excited to wear a two piece!"

Selsun Blue (selenium sulfide) for Tinea Versicolor "I bought over the counter & added 7 drops of Tea Tree Oil which is an antifungal. I have had this condition for 40 yrs. I have been to Drs. but I try different methods. This is the first with Selsun Shampoo. I showered & then used the shampoo & left it on for 10 min. The itch is already better. It is hard to rate it because it is the first time I used it with the Tea Tree Oil."

For Tinea Versicolor "I put Selsen Blue on overnight as directed by my DR. And what a mistake. If you do this treatment only do it for 15-20 min NOT overnight. And keep away from you neck as it’s very sensitive and I got a bunch of burns that I hope are healing."

For Seborrheic Dermatitis "So after 15 years of unsuccesful fights against this serborrheic dermatitis, I found a way, the 5 min shampoo does not work, I use a surfers hat or swimming hat with selsun rubbed in for 2 hours with vaseline, then washed out, now all good, but need this every 3 days and no flakes AT ALL, But it must be SD or Malassezia you tackling cause I was never totally sure it was SD or psorisis, Yes 2 hours all gone for days! Well Thats my remedy and it did the trick"

For Tinea Versicolor "A dermatologist said to use Selsun Blue 1% - coat my body with it at bedtime, let it dry, put on old pj’s, leave it on overnight and shower it off in the morning - do this once a week for 3 weeks. This worked in incredibly well, right from the first treatment. I did have a bit of chemical burning in my armpit area - in creases like that just blot a little of the wetness off before it dries - no problems after that. Part of the reason I went to see the dermatologist was to get help with overall bumpiness of the skin all over my body. It’s like every hair follicle was inflamed and had a little bump in the follicle. Although she recommended other treatments it was the Selsun treatments that completely cleared this up from the very first night. I’m from Canada so no cost for 3 dermatologist appointments (plus a follow up in 2 wks) and the Selsun was purchased at Wal Mart for less than $15 (maybe $12/$13)."

Selsun (selenium sulfide) for Tinea Versicolor "Efficient if u do washing with mercryl solution before using. Then you keep selsun on skin 20 minutes before rinsing. I used it that way for three weeks every two days ,then two weeks every three days , then two weeks every four days ,then one week every five days, one week every six days ,and once a week for three weeks . It's not very comfortable to keep it 20 minuts on skin and it does smell, but this is really the only medicine with good result and quite cheap, with mercryl about 10 euro/month"

For Seborrheic Dermatitis "This dandruff shampoo is AMAZING. I have scalp psoriasis. I've tried ALL other dandruff shampoos. I even elocon lotion. But no matter HOW much dandruff shampoo or elocon I use, I STILL have a lot of flakes, even after a good hair wash. BUT I tried this shampoo, & even after just ONE application, when I got out of the shower, for the first time in YEARS, absolutely NO flakes. Not even one. Brilliant product. I LOVE IT"

Selsun Blue 2-in-1 (selenium sulfide) "I developed tinea versicolor as a teenager, I'm now in my early 60s. I've always used topical creams and refused pills. I began using Selsun Blue 2.5% in my 30s. I apply the medication very generously, twice daily for five days then daily for 2 days and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. I air dry my skin (except under breasts) after a shower with water as cold as tolerable and the spots disappear sometimes to up to a year."

Selsun Blue (selenium sulfide) for Tinea Versicolor "I've had some success using Selsun blue for Tinea Versicolor. I've had it for years not knowing what it was but I pinpointed it. I value the healing that Selsun Blue has done for it but I really don't like the smell. I leave it on for about a half an hour and shower it off. It hasn't fully gotten rid of it but it's gotten pretty close."

For Seborrheic Dermatitis "I've tried it several times, once it was prescribed for my scalp as a shampoo, now it's been prescribed as a face wash (it's still a shampoo) twice a day Mon - Fri. I'll be honest here, I've got severe flakes from my goatee and eye brows as well as my scalp but this while it may work, smells so awful that it makes me want to vomit, it's kind of like rotten egg smell. The only saving grace is that usually you are the only person that can smell it. I just asked a co worker to smell my face, from one foot away she didn't smell anything but from 3 inches away she did and said it smelled like an acne lotion she use to use (selenium sulfide) so that's a saving grace. The stuff I use is basically just a stronger version of the over the counter Selsun Blue shampoo, which also I've noted this smell even after thoroughly rinsing my hair but not quite as strong. I can't use either, the smell is just too much for me to handle."

For Tinea Versicolor "I am not sure if this will work for me. I followed directions on my bottle from my pharmacy that simply said, apply once a day for 7 days (conveniently leaving out the part where you rinse off in 10 minutes) I just found this out (day 4, applying after taking evening showers and leaving on) chemical burns under my breasts, feeling pretty dumb but also upset my directions weren’t more specific :( Not bashing the product (I’ve been using it wrong)"

For Tinea Versicolor "I've had this condition for at least 15 years. It started with a small spot and now covers my left buttock, a large patch on my lower back, and several patches on my left leg and foot. I visited my family doctor shortly after noticing it and was told it's permanent and that there's no cure for it. I was driving a truck at the time and being in work boots all day every day, I suspected it was a yeast issue, but he discounted that. NOW that I'm reading all of these reviews and everyone having positive results, I am so excited to get home from this vacation to purchase some Selsun Blue and start using it. I really hope this works. As so many of you can relate, I'm sure you all know the stares from people wondering 'what's wrong with his leg?' I came on vacation one year and didn't apply sunscreen to those areas, wow was that a mistake. I burned right away and blistered. It was painful the whole time I was away. I'll share my results with you in a few weeks, hopefully great results!"

Selsun Blue Medicated (selenium sulfide) "I had eczema as a kid. I thought maybe this red, itchy spot was just eczema. It spread everywhere, so I bought a humidifier, left my skin wet, didn’t shower as much, and it was terrible! It was tinea, and I made it worse on my own. After a year of hiding my skin, I saw something about tinea and tried Selsun. I left it on my body like lotion overnight. The next morning, it was burning and stiff, but I washed it off and let my skin dry. All of my spots were darkened, thick, and raised. I dry brushed off the dead skin and decided not to use moisturizer. I did this for two more days, and my skin slowly but surely healed. Lots of flakes, lots of burning and irritated skin, but it was worth it. I highly recommend dry brushing the dead skin off before you shower and anytime you go a few hours without any moisture. Hope this helps, and it’s worth a try!"
