"I've been on ramipril for a year now. Had a headache for 2 weeks, went to see the nurse. Said I had high BP, was put on 2.5 mg. All was good for 3 months when the dreaded headache returned for 2 weeks. Was put up to 5 mg and just before Christmas, again headaches returned. I'm now on 10 mg and my BP the other day was still 167/102, which for 30 years old is high. I'm being monitored, but I am on a course of steroids for eczema, so could be that why it hasn't lowered, but the ramipril is great. Had no side effects at all."

"Blood pressure picked up after attending the minor injury unit for something unrelated. The first drug made me dizzy, so I was prescribed ramipril 2.5 mg. After 2 days, I felt like someone was sitting on my chest, BP still high, anxiety, and generally feeling crap. I went in feeling fine just for a check-up after a minor accident at work and was medicated ill. Stopped and seeing the doctor."

"I've been on 2.5 mg for a few days. So far, I've had dizziness, tiredness, and a dry throat, but no cough. The side effects, although annoying at the moment, are easily bearable. I had a prior reading of around 180/110, and a few days in, it's still the same. I read that the drug began working straight away, but I will persevere until my next medical in 3 weeks and see what happens. So for the moment, I've rated it 1 out of 10, as for me, I've not seen a drop in BP and now have additional side effects to contend with."

"Many years on Coversyl plus 4/1.25 mg. BP unvariable at 118/86. However, product changed to 5/1.25 mg, started suffering from diarrhea. Changed to ramipril 5 mg, 4 months ago, mornings. Recent morning BP 135/105, lunchtime 120/90. Evening 135/95. Diarrhea disappeared with change of medication. Amlodipine 5 mg added recently. 4th day, lunchtime reading 115/75, but some side effects being felt. Earlier this morning, prior to ramipril, 120/90. Diastolic BP seems to be my problem. Anyone with some experience there how to manage it with less medication?"

"I am diabetic following pancreatitis. Ramipril has lowered my blood pressure from around 145/90 to around 135/85 in just a week or so, but as soon as I started taking it, I started having a lot of hypos. I have had to reduce my doses of Levemir from 18 units twice a day to 12 units twice a day. No other side effects."

"Went to the doctor with ear ache and tinnitus, came out with high blood pressure 220 and vertigo. Been on tablets almost 3 weeks, 2.5g, also given up Coca-Cola, 2 bottles a day, no salt, 8 hours sleep, not 3 hrs a day. Also cut down on alcohol. Tinnitus is still here, but BP has gone down slightly, 158 was the last check. No side effects apart from tinnitus getting louder after 2 maybe 3 hours after the tablet. I don't seem to have dizziness or any other symptoms, probably as I smoke bud and I'm used to it (best to be honest). I'm on a 28-day course. I will get back to you all. Feel free to comment."

"I'm 72 and just started taking this. I was very reluctant, as I don't like taking any medication and am very wary of all medications. However, I took it, and it works fine for me. I don't have any side effects. I already have a bit of a cough from asthma, and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. I've only been taking it for a month, and it's working, so I will see how it goes."

Ramipril "I have taken Altace along with a diuretic for about 20 years, and the problem was it lowered my blood pressure too much that my doctor had me take it only 3 times a week. Other than that, I have no side effects."

"I used to take ramipril capsules made by Bristol for 3 months, never had a broken capsule. Since the chemist changed my capsules to ramipril capsules made by Brown & Burk 3 months ago, I have had 3 broken capsules so far. This happens when I pop it out of the bubble, and I end up with powder all over my hand. It happened with 2.5 mg and 5 mg as well."

"I started ramipril on 2.5 mg a day when my blood pressure was still high, so they put me on 7.5 mg daily. I had a blood pressure reading done, and yes, it's still showing 160/98. I have been on them for a month. Does anyone know why it's still up?"

"I've been taking 7.5 mg ramipril for about 6 months. I found that it worked when I took my BP at home in the morning, going from 160/120 down to 109/80 - 125/85. But since I have gone back to sea, it's up again to 160/110. I have a month left at sea, I'm a little worried as I know people who are older and a lot less healthy than me on a lower dose. It makes me worried, job in the balance. I haven't had any side effects so far."

"I have been taking Ramipril for about six months now, and since I started, I have started to suffer from anxiety every day and all day. I stopped taking it for a period and felt much better, but my blood pressure rose. My GP prescribed Clonazepam, but hasn't helped at all."

"I was taken to A&E as my BP was 219. The doctor gave me ramipril and within hours came down to 184. Felt great. Gave me a prescription for indapamide which worked well, but when the tablets ran out, my doctor put me on ramipril which is making me feel so ill. I have a constant dry cough, am falling asleep all day, and have completely lost my balance, causing falls. I have lost all my energy and have a tummy ache after meals, which I never had before. Trying to get the doctor to change me back to indapamide which appeared to suit me better without all these awful side effects. Both drugs have been 2.5 mg, but I think 1.25 would be better."

"Was prescribed this medication at 2.5 mg Ramipril as a daily dose. No side effects other than feeling a great sense of calm and relaxation that I have never had my whole life. I don't snap or shout anymore, and my blood pressure has gone from an average of 157/86 down to 119/72. I feel so good on this medication I can't believe it. Started intermittent fasting and gym 3-4 times a week has possibly helped me too, can cut out crisps, biscuits, chocolate, and cakes from my diet, so lost a stone in my first 4 weeks."
