Pseudoephedrine "This product seemed to work for my nasal congestion, but it made me EXTREMELY sleepy. I have never experienced drowsiness with Sudafed or its generic. I took one 30 mg Nexafed pill at 8 pm, and I actually had to take 2.5 hours off of work in the morning because I could not function! I didn't feel myself again until 10 am. I suppose if I took the medication very early in the evening, I might be able to wake up in the morning. But having young children, I must be present for nighttime routines, and I can never guarantee that my sleep will not be interrupted. For now, Nexafed simply will not work for me. I will be returning it to the pharmacy and will have to find a new pharmacy to shop from, as mine is currently only carrying this new product."

"I have moderate to severe allergic rhinitis, and I take cetirizine daily. Pseudoephedrine is the only thing that works when the congestion gets really severe. The medication is available over the counter and is relatively inexpensive. Plus, the medication also works for colds and sinus congestion due to other illnesses. Make sure to purchase pseudoephedrine and not phenylephrine or other similar non-prescription decongestants, as they do not actually work. Phenylephrine has been proven completely ineffective in many studies. Phenylephrine was substituted for pseudoephedrine in many over-the-counter combination products when the government started placing restrictions on how much pseudoephedrine individuals can purchase."

"I had a horrible reaction to pseudoephedrine. I sweated profusely after taking it for a week. It got worse every day. I didn't take it at night as I was warned it would cause insomnia. It did help my sinus infection along with Bactrim."

"The new version does not dry me up, this dries my sinuses and stops the runny nose that is so annoying with some head colds. So annoying that they have renamed Sudafed and tried to pull the wool over our eyes, this is the one that works."

"For me, it didn't work. I didn't have any noticeable difference in my congestion, etc. I get a very bad stuffed up every time I have a cold, particularly at night. This didn't help me, and it made me feel very nauseous, which is not a pleasant side effect when the aim of this is to relieve discomfort."

Pseudoephedrine "Let me start by saying that I have horrible anxiety, and Sudafed didn't make me shaky or anxious at all. I need to mention that I'm very weak already, as this infection has made me extremely exhausted. I'm also on an antibiotic that makes me a little tired. Sudafed definitely helped some, but since I have an infection, I'm still dealing with issues. It's opened my head partially, but a few hours ago, I had nearly 100% blockage of my sinuses, and when lying flat, I couldn't breathe at all, and now I can. I have serious sinus pain, as I've battled a 2-month-long chronic sinus infection. It started viral, I believe, the first few weeks. I wished I had started Sudafed sooner. I'm afraid of the rebound effect, so I don't plan on taking longer than a week. I'm supposed to start steroids if this regimen doesn't help, and oral prednisone makes me an anxious and moody mess, so I'm hoping I don't need to take it. I already had a steroid shot that didn't help and antibiotic shots too."

Pseudoephedrine "I think this drug is a person-to-person basis. For me personally, I took it at 12:40 p.m. It says non-drowsy, but it made me KO for 3 hours (probably from it being strong). I woke up and my nose was still stuffy and thought to myself, 'What’s wrong with me?' because it works for everyone else. I haven’t found one review that says it didn’t clear them up. Well, it DOES WORK, but weirdly for me. Laying down, it works 0% stuffy both nose. Sitting up, it works 50% (1 nose unclogged, 1 clogged). And standing straight up walking around, both of my noses are 95% cleared. So it does work! And the side effects part that I’ve read a lot of people be experiencing, I don’t have that. I do tend to get panic attacks a couple of times a year, but I did not get a panic attack from this medication. I did, however, feel very dazed. Like I’m zoning out, but not thinking of anything. I think it’s also because the dose, in my opinion, is high. In conclusion, it works. Try it out!"

"I keep hearing that many are kept awake when using this. My doctor, MDVIP, has me only take two pills in the morning. I also use a special dry nasal spray called Qnasl at dinner, then only Afrin before bed. This combination is not perfect, but I sleep well. It always helps when you have a doctor who totally understands how this should be used for the person using it. My inner ear is ringing so loudly that it is like a swarm of bees attacking it. I have already experienced some relief, but am only on day 2 and was told it would take three to seven days for this to subside. Hopefully, I can get over this continual and severe sinus/allergy situation. I went to an ENT who did not help me at all. He put me on steroids that made me absolutely crazy, especially at night. It did not help at all, as my sinuses were 100% blocked. Had an MRI scan to determine this, but I was given a steroid that only had a 50% chance of working... side effects were unbearable."

"Took 12-hour Sudafed with pseudoephedrine, and it definitely helped clear my nasal congestion from a bad head cold (not Covid or flu). However, I discovered, despite all the advertising, it did not last 12 hours for me. My nasal congestion returned around the 8 to 9-hour mark. I am not sure if that is related to the age of the package I have, which was over a year old, or my own biology or how bad my cold is. The drug works for me, but I had to take another dose before 12 hours."

"The FDA allows lactose as an ingredient in prescription drugs. Symptoms of lactose intolerance include gastric upset, stomach pain, gagging, nausea, diarrhea, and constipation. My symptom of nausea and stomach pain began after several doses. I talked with my doctor, and he had me change to an alternative drug that did not contain lactose."

"I had a terrible experience with this medicine, and I do not recommend it at all. Instead of helping you to decongest, it just makes you more congested. It stops the phlegm from being coughed up, which would make you feel worse. The minute I stopped taking the medicine, I started being able to get rid of the phlegm. Same as the majority of medicines over the counter, they are just a temporary help, but on them long, they make more damage to you."
