"I've had this prescribed for surgical procedures, with migraine medications, and when I take opioids because they cause swelling and intense itching. This is great. It ends vomiting, suppresses nausea, eliminates swelling and itching. The generic is very inexpensive and works quickly. The drowsiness side effect is unlike most drugs with this caution; I can wake quickly and think clearly, no 'drugged' or heavy, fogged thinking."

"My wife has taken this medicine in pill form to combat nausea due to chemo, with no adverse side effects. Last week, she was given a dose via her central line. She became psychotic and combative. Phenergan via IV was not good for her. Zofran is an excellent alternative."

"I absolutely love this medication. I was sick often from chemo, and this helped miracles. I also was having it for sleeping, and when I took this, I would fall asleep, and with cancer, you often just want to sleep and not be sick. This was great. I also had lots of morphine but decided I wanted this more than the morphine. So, to me, this was the better choice, and I was in la-la land, but it was my preferred drug, and to this day I still ask for Phenergan."

"This drug is wonderful for stomach viruses, motion sickness, anything involving stomach nausea. The only side effect I have felt is the sedative effect. If you are a nervous flyer, I would recommend 12.5 mg 30 minutes before takeoff."

"In preparation for a colonoscopy, I was given this medicine in case I became nauseated. I took 1 tablet as I was feeling a bit nauseous after taking the 'cleansing' drug prescribed by my doctor, and within 15 minutes, the nausea subsided. Then I fell asleep for several hours. Does what it is supposed to."

"I just had a bilateral mastectomy due to breast cancer a month ago and will never forget the huge injection of Phenergan the nurse plunged into my I.V. when I came out of the anesthesia and said, 'I'm going to throw up!' It halted my nausea IMMEDIATELY - wish I'd known about this stuff years ago! It would have saved me after a few of my surgeries. Now, they've put me on Tamoxifen, which is making me incredibly nauseated. When my doctor's office called me the other day to let me know they had called in an anti-nausea medicine for me at the pharmacy, I was overjoyed to find out it was Phenergan. Sure enough, it's working great. Last night I had my first enjoyable evening without nausea since starting the Tamoxifen."

"In 2015, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and had emergency surgery to save my life. Seven years later, I have ups and downs with flares and how it makes me feel. Mainly, it’s nausea. So, my doc prescribed promethazine (Phenergan) to help, and boy, does it. I can be sick and not want to eat to keep weight on. But after one or two, I can eat anything."

"I suffer from migraines and frequently have extreme nausea and vomiting. Since I can't keep my migraine medicine down (Zomig) at times like these, I have to be taken to the emergency room for shots for pain and nausea. The last time I went, they gave me a prescription for Phenergan. I didn't know how I would manage to keep it down if I did need it. I thought that was odd, but since the bad migraines usually come in threes, I had a chance to try it the next day. It was great! I could keep the Zomig down. I got a little rest too."

"Second trimester of pregnancy and had lost 30 lbs due to hyperemesis. None of the other nausea meds were working, they even gave me suppositories. I was admitted to the hospital, and I ended up on an IV drip of Zofran for a couple of days to give me some relief. Once they took me off the drip, I was scheduled to get the Zofran regularly. One particular nurse was terrible about giving me my medication on time, and I got so sick they had to look for an alternative. She gave me Phenergan, which made me drowsy, uncoordinated, disoriented, and gave me restless leg for a while. That experience was terrifying. When the doctors came in to check on me, they told me that I was given too big of a dose, so they were going to try it again at half a dose. That half dose was AMAZING!!! It took away the nausea immediately and allowed me to sleep comfortably. That became my regular nausea med for the rest of the hyperemesis, and I was given a prescription to use at home as needed. It saved my life."

"I use Phenergan for nausea. I take 25 mg to 50 mg. More effective than Zofran, which doesn’t work on me. It causes a bit of tiredness, but not the putting me to sleep type—just relaxes me, which is appreciated when I have nausea."

"I take a Zofran disintegrating tablet, and this tablet just holds me over, laying down not moving until the Phenergan kicks in. Then I’m up and functioning like I was never about to vomit or had nausea."

"As a type 1 diabetic, I occasionally get nausea and/or vomiting with low blood sugar. If blood sugar levels are severely low, you may feel nausea and something similar to a migraine headache, in my case, with locking-tight neck muscles. It is hard to get blood sugar levels up when you are vomiting. I have found a Phenergan suppository is the only thing that works for me during these episodes. It works very quickly to stop nausea and gives me enough time to eat before making me sleepy. I have been diabetic for more than 40 years, so it is not as though I am inexperienced, and I have both an insulin pump and blood testing equipment with which to check my glucose levels before I ever consider going to sleep. I do not recall ever being truly 'knocked out' long term, but asleep for a few hours, long enough for the headache and tight neck muscles to subside."

"I have chronic pancreatitis and have severe nausea almost every day. My doctor tried many different medicines for nausea and vomiting over the 8 years I've been sick. Several years ago, I tried Phenergan and had a severe allergic reaction. I later learned it is called a tonic reaction."

"My experience was awful. This medication was put into my IV and in seconds, I felt myself going into a deep sleep. I wasn't fully in the hospital when it took an effect. I thought that I could not breathe and screamed for oxygen. The nurse stated that I was breathing just fine. Well, I didn't need oxygen, just a bad trip. Yes, nausea went away quickly. I guess it is effective, but not worth the trip, very scary."

"This has been a game changer for my migraines. If I do not catch them in time, I cannot keep anything down, which means the Imetrex doesn't have time to work. It becomes a vicious cycle and can last for a few days. Phenergan stops that cycle! The only drawback is the drowsiness - I am limited to taking 1/4 pill at a time so I can still function when the migraine has gone away. Do NOT drive until you know how this medicine will affect you."

"Received Phenergan (IV) in the hospital for nausea and vomiting. Did not have any history of hypertension, but my blood pressure spiked after 3 doses of Phenergan. I am now on a beta blocker and have not been able to have my BP return to normal since being discharged. Just really a strange situation. Historically, I have not been on any medications."

"I was sick for two days in a row. I had to go to the ER, and I was on Zofran, which helped during the day, but at night my morning sickness, a.k.a. HG, ravaged. My mother-in-law suggested this drug as a suppository because she had similar problems! I still am nauseous, but I’m finally having a night out of the ER. Now if it could only make me sleepy, lol."

"I've been taking this medication for a minimum of 15 years. It is a very good medication. I use it for nausea and vomiting. It does the trick. It also aids with my pain & insomnia, only when combined with other meds. But, even though I'm well educated on Phenergan, if I take it too frequently, it gets built up in my system and gives me severe restless leg symptoms! If you've never had it - avoid it! Just take it only when necessary."
