For Bowel Preparation "This was the worst by far bowel prep ever! I have had several colonoscopies, and I will take a gallon of Golytely over this any day! The first mixture smelled like rotten fruit fermenting in a dumpster on a 100-degree day, barely choked it down before I was so nauseated and vomited. The next packets were better, but not good by any means. Again, I will stick with the Golytely..."

"Whoever thought of flavoring this as mango with salt water needs to drink it themselves. This had to be the most foul-tasting I ever had. I'd rather drink my own urine than drink that again. I drank it at my own pace with an iced tea chaser after every sip I took of that foul drink. An hour after I drank it, I still didn’t have to poop, but my stomach thought it would be a better idea to vomit it up. I still have to take the second dose tomorrow morning, if my body lets me, that is."

For Bowel Preparation "I’m 19, and I have a colonoscopy in the morning. Many of my family members and close friends have had this procedure along with similar preps, however, none of them were ever recommended Plenvu. And let me just say, absolutely never again. Not only did this taste horrid, it left me nauseous throughout the entire night. While drinking it, I threw up 3 times, so most of it probably didn’t even stay in my system, and the chills were absolutely unbearable. I understand I do not have experience with other people, but I can say that I will not ever recommend this to anyone, not even my worst enemy."

For Bowel Preparation "Totally new to this. First time doing bowel prep for first colonoscopy. Dose 1 was salty fruit punch. Managed okay with it, only took an hour to work. Word of advice: be close to a loo. Half a glass of dose 2 left (salty mango), and I am currently curled up in a ball in my bathroom and have vomited twice already. Probably the worst thing I have ever experienced. NEVER AGAIN."

For Bowel Preparation "I was very apprehensive after reading many reviews. I talked to the doctor's staff, and she said not to drink it too fast. I followed directions carefully about eating light three days before, and although not pleasant, it hasn't been hideous either. No vomiting and little stomach gurgling. The taste was salty juice but tolerable. I drank a lot of Propel to help avoid loss of electrolytes."

For Bowel Preparation "For my 3rd colonoscopy, I used Plenvu. It was different from my two previous preps. Less water to drink (good), but the taste - OMG - DISGUSTING. Far worse than the previous two preps. I could manage the first dose, using a straw. It was awful but had a slightly fruity flavor which I could stomach - just. I thought the second dose would be the same, and it was beyond what words can describe. I struggled... really struggled. Thank goodness for the straw - without which I'm sure I would have vomited violently. I took 45 mins to drink as I just couldn't stomach it in the time period specified and didn't finish it in the end as I had already started to rush back to the toilet. I figured that if this sachet was fine for a big man, then, being a small female, surely, I wouldn't need the full dose? The only positive about Plenvu - in comparison to the previous two preps - it was quicker and cleaner to purge. So, my bum wasn't on fire like it had been in previous preps. And I could sleep between doses."

For Bowel Preparation "This was horrendous for me. I have no idea what is in this, but I have never been allergic to anything in my life. I drank about half of the first dose, and my eyes got itchy, then I vomited and got the chills, and my face began to swell, then I broke out in hives. For about 12 hours after taking this, my eyes were still red, and they stung really bad. It hurt to have them open or closed. I couldn't get my colonoscopy done, which annoyed me because I'd done the 3-day prep and had my kids looked after, all for nothing. Instead, I ended up in the emergency room. This gets 0 out of 10 from me."

For Bowel Preparation "There's got to be an easier way, surely?! I managed to get through my first dose in 35 minutes. It did not take long at all to kick in. I managed to sleep but woke up approx every hour to go to the toilet, no problem. The 2nd dose, however! Absolutely vile, it was like a thick salty smoothie. It was a struggle. I got 3/4 of the way through, needed the toilet, mid-poop I needed to vomit, and fast. The vomit was so thick it led to the contents of the toilet splashing out everywhere!!! Honestly, it was pretty traumatic at the time, but I can laugh about it now."

For Bowel Preparation "Like many, I made the mistake of reading reviews, which freaked me right out. Lots of reports of vomiting, which scares me, so I asked my doctor for ondansetron and took this an hour before each drink. The reviews said that the Plenvu was the worst-tasting prep they'd ever had. I thought it was fine, much easier than I thought to get down - but I am a sweet tooth."

For Bowel Preparation "1st dose was bad, as everyone mentions. I sipped it all in about 30 min, followed by apple juice. It took around 1 hour to begin working. I washed up after every bowel movement. I didn't want to hurt myself wiping so much. Here comes the 2nd dose. All I can say is that I must agree with the rest, it was by far the worst. It took me 30 min to drink, didn't have apple juice (wish I did). It worked quicker than the first. An hour later, I started shaking, felt weak, and my stomach pumped, and by the time I stood up, I vomited very violently. I kept shaking and feeling weak, I must say it was horrible. I continued going to the bathroom afterwards, and it was light yellow. I hope my GI tells me I'm good for the procedure because I don't want to go through this again. This is by far the worst prep. I gave it a 2-star because there has to be a better way..."

For Bowel Preparation "I would not recommend Plenvu. First dose went down OK (and stayed down), but spent the next 5-6 hours running into the bathroom. The product works but in a violent manner. I had a mild headache also. Had the second dose 8 hours later. Stomach was very upset after drinking the second dose, and after 45 minutes, I started throwing up - how lucky I was already in the bathroom due to the violent and ongoing output. In an 11-hour time period, I had 2 hours between the first and second dose that I could rest. The rest of the time was spent staying close to the bathroom and cleaning up my vomit. Not sure why the second dose was so hard on my system. When it was time to drive to my procedure (14 hours after the first dose), my system was still running, and I had a full-on headache and dry mouth. While it was effective, it's too violent and comes with too many side effects. I would not recommend this product and will not use it again - ever."

For Bowel Preparation "I have had 5 colonoscopies in the past. This was the worst prep that I have ever had. I mixed the solution with cold water, making it easier to drink. I also used a straw. I started the first dose around 5 pm. I drank the 17 ounces within the 1-hour limit. Around 6:15 pm, I started projectile vomiting. I lost all my Plenvu and never had a bowel movement. I decided against waking up at 4 am for round two."

For Bowel Preparation "Plenvu was the most disgusting thing I have ever had to try to swallow. I managed to get the first dose down, only gagging two times. I had to hold my nose to drink it. The second dose was worse. I held my nose and tried but threw up most of it. I managed to make it to the bathroom, where I threw up all over the sink and floor. I can tell you my behind was as raw as hamburger and bled from the watery mixture that was expelled. I will never use this product again, and I've told everyone I can to reject it as a prep for a colonoscopy."

For Bowel Preparation "Having my first colonoscopy, first sachet at 6 pm tasted bad, but I managed to get it down. No movement for 9 hours, but it then did its job (to be fair, I had probably too much lunch, if doing again, I will have a much smaller lunch). Mixed sachet 2 at 6 am, and the smell got me, I was gagging all the way. Just finished it, but then projectile vomited with little warning. Fortunately, I had got enough down to still have 4 trips to the loo. I phoned the hospital, and they still managed to do the procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "Absolutely repulsive taste, which makes you vomit. It does still work as a laxative, even if you vomit some back up. So you are not only pooping out all the liquid in your body, you are also vomiting it too, meaning you have a raging thirst, but you can't do much about it as you feel sick and can't keep water down. Just what I need as a cancer patient who is already feeling rubbish!"

For Bowel Preparation "The main comment on here I have to say had me laughing so hard because you nailed it. I’ve been having yearly colonoscopies since I was 24ish, so let’s share my age now by saying nearly 16 years. Either my bowels are truly defective, but preps & my body don’t work as they seem for many on here. Any prep is absolutely horrible. If you enjoy drinking salty-thick type “drinks” or enjoy it more with a straw? Props to you. I need to chug this stuff & get it down & stop the torture & pray I don’t vomit. Preps do not kick in for me until like 3-4 hrs BEFORE my procedure, so after the 2nd dose 85% of the time, even after a full day on clears prior. You’d think this far along preps could be capsules consumed with high liquid intake, something more tolerable."

For Bowel Preparation "If I never have to experience this bowel prep solution again, it will be too soon. I took the first dose at 3:30 a.m. and didn’t find that too bad, apart from my back passage burning from the bowel motions. The second dose, I have felt sick to the stomach since taking the full amount and am vomiting (only fluid). Please bring on the end of this experience."

For Bowel Preparation "Female, 51, 162 cm, 56 kg, 4th colonoscopy. Previously taken Picolax (ok) and Picoprep (very sick). General anxiety, insomnia, migraines. Kept food low for 3 days prior and adhered to a low-residue diet. First 350 ml ok. Sipping on water and Hydralyte achieved final 150 ml. Took over an hour before 1st movement, then everything kicked in. Started dose 1 at 1800, finished by 1845, continued water until 1900. Movements stopped by 2130. Went to sleep. Woke at 0120 (husband used loo), brief movement (husband not on loo!), back to bed but not sleep. Started dose 2 at 0415. Easier to drink than dose 1 until the last 300 ml. Felt ‘full’ and nauseous. Had Hydralyte mixed with aspirin (migraine prevention). Had another 100 ml. Paused due to nausea. Vomited (lots) twice. Drank water. Finished off final 100 ml. Drank more water. Most movements done by 0730. Put Vaseline on anus between movements and dabbed rather than wiped loo roll (spared soreness). Bowel prep ok."

For Bowel Preparation "I read comments before I started Dose 1, as I had been given Moviprep 3 years ago, and I was fine. I made my first dose up at 6 pm, and it says to drink all of it slowly in 30 minutes, then 500 ml of water in 30 minutes after. I did struggle. Moviprep dose 1 is drunk over 1 to 2 hours and started an hour earlier. I found this okay. The Plenvu worked, and at 6 am, I started my dose 2, also to be drunk over 30 minutes, followed by 500 ml of water in 30 minutes. This was brutal. I vomited an hour after taking it and struggled to drink it. I put this down to the fact I cannot drink a lot in the morning due to gastritis. Anyway, it worked for the rest of the day. Moviprep dose 2 is also drunk over 1 to 2 hours, and I tolerated this well 3 years ago, still with gastritis. This prep was for an afternoon appointment. While both products have pretty much the same ingredients, I feel Moviprep is tolerated better due to allowing 1 to 2 hours to drink it. I personally prefer Moviprep and will never use Plenvu again."

For Bowel Preparation "I was given a 'sample' of this for some bowel issues (not a colonoscopy), it was the whole box. I won't be putting anything into my body which does any of these horrible things. Diarrhea and evacuation of the bowels is A-OK, but not all these other things: vomiting, etc. SO MANY one-stars. I called my doctor and requested they just prescribe me the 1-gallon awful stuff I had before, that can be put over ice with a straw and gotten through. Not taking a chance with anything that has two phases, the other is so much easier. No way I will ever consume this much PHK (think aspartame), my liver will be happy without it!"

For Bowel Preparation "Absolutely the most vile-tasting thing I ever drank! First dose was almost impossible to get down. Made me feel feverish, have chills, and have a headache. Second dose was even worse (didn't think that was possible). Caused me to vomit about halfway through and could not finish the dose. Tastes like wet sand mixed with salt water and lemon. Recommend very light meals leading up to the first dose and liquid diet the day of the first dose. Never again! 1 = effective (but horrible)"

For Bowel Preparation "When my next colonoscopy comes around 10 years from now, I will still remember how utterly vile this product is, and will insist on something different. As others have described, the taste was very salty, with an overbearing addition of artificial sweetener, and something fruity. That being said, I was able to gulp it down, and it starts working VERY quickly. The day 2 dose had my stomach screaming 'NO NO NO.' I vomited the entire 16 oz and my desperately needed morning coffee. In spite of that, it is so powerful that even the 20 minutes I was able to keep it down had me running to the bathroom again. Just not worth it, especially when there are other products that will give you good results without the extreme nausea."

For Bowel Preparation "I agree with everyone else, this is the most disgusting thing I've ever consumed. As soon as it hits your tongue, you are blasted by an extreme salty, bitter taste, followed by a thick, overly artificial sweetened aftertaste. It took me 5 hours to get through the first dose without vomiting. I only had two hours to get through the second dose, so I only made it halfway through. Would gladly go back to the gross but not as vile Miralax in Gatorade prep."

For Bowel Preparation "I have never had such a frightening, horrific experience. Part one of the prep was as expected. Part two sent me into violent vomiting and diarrhea. While vomiting into the toilet, the other end was spraying the walls. Because of this, my colonoscopy was almost canceled. I begged them. This is the last colonoscopy I will ever have."
