For Bowel Preparation "Absolutely NEVER take this. I got the first dose down with some serious struggling. The second dose at 6 a.m., and I started gagging after I was about 3/4 finished. Then I started vomiting and having diarrhea within minutes. I vomited more than I ever have in my life. No matter how many fluids I drank, I felt like a prune. -1,000/10"

For Bowel Preparation "This was my third colonoscopy. I found the flavor of the first packet of this prep, which I refrigerated, very offensive. Took it at 4:45 p.m., and it just sat in my stomach hurting it. Threw pretty much all of it up 3 and 1/4 hours later. Why not let the consumers select a flavor of choice? This medication didn't work until I vomited, and then it started to cause mild movement. Ended up mixing a double dose of Miralax to compensate for the first phase since there was no way to reach the prescribing doctor after hours. I drank plenty of water too. I mixed the last dose and drank 4-6 sips at a time throughout the night, which helped move things along. Couldn't finish the whole prep though, and I usually can. Luckily for me, I had fasted most of the week, so I accomplished this process successfully. I much prefer the last brand I had over this one. Also, I was given a coupon to use that the pharmacist insisted didn't work, so I lost money purchasing this brand to boot. Won't use this brand again!"

For Bowel Preparation "Everyone's experience will be different, and I was determined to be positive, but they couldn't have made a worse-tasting prep if they tried! Ghastly. Stage one tasted nasty but worked. Stage two (commenced 5 a.m.) had a truly dreadful taste and mixture so concentrated it makes you vomit. Instructions say to take over half an hour, but the nurse said later it's better to take Stage 2 over one hour or you do get nausea. Sipped both stages through a straw to get it down and chewed gum after every sip to take the taste away. 3rd time endoscopy, would go back to Moviprep next time. It's awful too, but not as bad as Plenvu. Rating based on effectiveness, doctors prefer it apparently."

For Bowel Preparation "Never ever again. I just finished the second dose of the prep, and I'm lying in bed with a bag, taking deep breaths, praying not to vomit. This is my 3rd colonoscopy, but the first time during my cleanout that I've felt like I was going to puke. I'd rather drink a ton of liquid and feel okay than drink this 'low volume' prep and feel sick to my stomach. I can't imagine ever tasting that disgusting liquid again. In fact, I may just delay my next preventative procedure. I'm now scared of the prep."

For Bowel Preparation "You know how the dentist always had that fluoride paste that they let you choose the flavor of as a kid, bubblegum or orange or chocolate, and the supposed 'flavor' was always a lie? This is like that but worse. It supposedly tastes like mango. I've never had a mango that tastes like saltwater. The flavor and consistency is disturbingly similar to semen. So hard to get it down without retching. I swear the prep I did for years ago, which made me want to die, was less disgusting than this one."

For Bowel Preparation "So I was absolutely terrified to use this medication due to the reviews and the fact that every time I have done a colonoscopy prep, I get violently ill, like both ends going at the same time. It is just horrible. But this one surprisingly did not make me vomit. I will say this time around I made sure throughout the day I stayed very hydrated, and I took Zofran prior to starting, which I think helped a lot. I did notice chills at the beginning, and then I did have some body aches, but this went away. I kept the prep super cold and drank it slowly. I also put mine over ice and chased it with water or apple juice. For reference, also I am 23 and 112 pounds. It is a tough prep but just breathe and take your time. :) It is all for a good cause."

For Bowel Preparation "I have had 4 colonoscopies due to a family history of cancer. This prep was absolutely awful. It was so salty, and they ruined my love for mangos by giving it a mango flavor to hide the wretched taste. The 2nd dose was worse. I could hardly get it down and then felt like vomiting. They flavored this one 'fruit punch.' I told the doctor that I wanted it charted to never prescribe Plenvu again!"

For Bowel Preparation "Upon completion of the first dose, I vomited immediately. The dose tasted so awful, I felt as if I was drinking poisonous chemicals. I prefer the old way of bowel preparation, more complicated, however, it never made me violently vomit."

For Bowel Preparation "I just had a colonoscopy on 8/4/21, plus I am years post-op Bariatric Surgery. Well, I was told to take Plenvu, and it made me throw up both days due to taste and quantity. It did do what it was supposed to, but the taste is awful. I then found out I could have taken 24 pills total (very expensive) or Suprep (not as expensive as pills) unflavored but more to drink. Plenvu is nasty tasting, no matter how you take it!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "A two-day prep. Colonoscopy set for the afternoon. So Dose 1 at 6 pm yesterday evening. Wish I had a straw in the house after reading these comments. Trying to get the stuff down while simultaneously sipping weak orange squash had me gagging somewhat, and I think I forced it down quicker than the 'sip slowly over 30 minutes' recommended in the instructions, solely to get it over with. Started working about an hour later,... then about 4 or 5 times after that. Dose 2 was worse, mainly because my first drink of choice as soon as I wake is a nice strong tea with milk, not a hideously sickly sweet and salty powder concoction, with a side of weak squash and a sinking feeling of an impending long visit to the bathroom to follow. Hurrah. On the whole, it does what it says on the tin. I am at the clear yellow stage, though I do wonder when it will ease off as I have been in and out of the loo for about 2.5 hours now. Bearable discomfort for necessary probings later."

For Bowel Preparation "The first dose was horrible but productive. The second dose in the morning went down but was extremely horrible, and I threw the whole thing up. Awaiting a callback from the doctor to see if the colonoscopy was canceled! I do not recommend it."

For Bowel Preparation "First dose was bad. Really bad. Tried to be proactive with taking Zofran about 40 mins before. Still struggled to choke it down. It was thick, sweet/salty. Absolutely disgusting. Fought off gagging with every sip. Struggled trying not to vomit it up. 2nd dose was worse if that's possible. I have done a colon prep 2 other times. First was over 10 years ago. They gave me a gallon jug with a powder you mixed with water. Did another back in June prior to hysterectomy. That time was Dulcolax, 8 oz bottle of Miralax mixed with 64 oz of Powerade. So much better than Plenvu. And it cleaned me out fine! Not sure they use Plenvu. Plus, it's expensive and not covered by insurance. I will not be doing this again."

For Bowel Preparation "I followed the low-fiber diet for 4 days, the last day I followed the instructions provided by the Plenvu manufacturer, not by the hospital leaflet. I dissolved two doses of Plenvu in bottled water in the morning and kept them refrigerated until the required time. I had a last meal of scrambled eggs, white bread toast, and soft lactose-free cheese with a cup of chamomile tea at 2 pm. I started sipping the first dose of Plenvu with a thin straw at 6 pm. The taste reminded me of the taste of salty water/concentrated tears mixed with sweetener and flavor. It was quite difficult to consume, but I did not have any nausea or gagging. My first bowel movement happened 70 minutes after I started drinking Plenvu. I drank 1.5 liters of water between 6:30 and 9 pm. The second dose was more difficult to drink and tasted worse, I made 3 sips at a time, followed by a small sip of water each time. I drank 1 liter of water after it. The bowel was completely clean by 11:30 pm. The colonoscopy was at 11 am, and I was told my prep was great."

For Bowel Preparation "The most difficult experience to take this I have ever had with drinking medicine. Struggled not to vomit and had to block my nose to reduce the taste. I could not finish drinking either of my doses within the advised 30-minute drinking time for each and had to drink each over an hour. I tried using chewing gum mint and polo mints to help with the taste, but it didn't really work. I suggest using a straw and avoiding your taste buds completely. I had chills and became incredibly anxious as I felt drinking it would never end. Traumatizing has been used to describe this by others, and I agree. It worked with its bowel clearing, but it took me so long to drink the second dose I had to finish it on the toilet because things started moving before I could finish. After the second dose is taken three hours after the first, as prescribed by my particular doctor, it was five hours until I could sleep in the middle of the night, as I kept needing the toilet from my bowels."

For Bowel Preparation "There are a lot of negative reviews of Plenvu on this site (and other sites), possibly because people are more likely to post negative reviews of a drug/medication than a positive review. I've never taken a bowel prep before, but have to say that with Plenvu the experience wasn't as bad as I expected..... - Taste: It's not *that bad* in my opinion and tastes a bit like a saltier version of a sports drink. Refrigerate it beforehand and drink it through a straw and you'll be OK. Why are people complaining about the taste? - It's a medicine, not a cocktail. - Volume: It's only 2 liters (1 liter of prep and 1 liter of water) - less than many other solutions. - Effectiveness: It does its job. I didn't experience any nausea/vomiting, no chills and no cramps - and I would class myself as someone with a sensitive digestive system. You will be dehydrated afterwards, so continue to drink plenty of water up until the procedure cutoff time."

For Bowel Preparation "This medication worked, but the side effects are significant. I vomited on dose 2 and experienced chills and nausea with both doses. Whoever thought 'mango' and 'fruit punch' were a good idea should take a long, hard look at themselves. Nope!"

For Bowel Preparation "This prep was horrible as compared to another prep I took 8 years ago. It is salty, frothy, and tastes horrible. I had to drink it in the shower because I almost vomited. Ask your GI doc for an alternative before your procedure. I now require a colonoscopy every 5 years, and I told my doc I would not ever be taking this again - she said there were others to choose from. Stay away from Plenvu!"

For Bowel Preparation "OMG! My fourth colonoscopy and this is the worst, foulest, horrible, tasty prep I have ever had. Not only is it disgustingly putrid, it has an odd jelly-like texture. Had nausea on and off. But on phase 2, it was not as jelly-like texture-wise, but still not good flavor at all, and unfortunately, nausea came on immediately, and after I was done, I ended up vomiting up about half of the second dose. Now I don't know what to do about the colonoscopy scheduled at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I guess I'll just sit here and continue to drain and then make a phone call in the morning. This was horrific in flavor."

For Bowel Preparation "It’s my first time preparing for a colonoscopy, and I’ve got to say, I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Had my first dose at 3 AM. The taste was awful, made me nauseous. Drank 32 ounces of water following. This is the amount needed just to get rid of the aftertaste. Kicked in after 20 mins. I was on the toilet for two hours straight. Made it to the yellow/clear phase. I slept for an hour before taking the second dose. The first sip made me vomit. I immediately mixed it with more water to make it even slightly tolerable. I made it through 3/4 of the dose, but had to stop before I was sick again. Drank another 32 ounces of water. The water definitely helps lessen the burning and irritation. To note: with the second dose, I’m cold, I have the chills, and I’m still going clear. Hoping this does not last as many hours as some of the reviews state so I may be able to sleep for a little bit before my procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "I’m a 27-year-old female, and this is my third colonoscopy prep. I did well with the first dose, but I threw up the second dose within 30 minutes of taking it as instructed. The only negative I will say is that I had pretty significant discomfort after the second or third trip to the bathroom. With previous preps, the hemorrhoids/pain didn’t start until I was at the very end of the prep, but I was near tears after bathroom trip 3. I also had some pretty significant leakage in between trips to the toilet that I hadn’t ever experienced with other preps. The cost is OUTRAGEOUS. With insurance, my copay was $154. My doctor’s office was able to call in a discount code/coupon, but it was still $50 for the kit. I’m not really going to comment on the taste of these products because, well, I’m not sure what people expect from a product made to clean out your intestinal tract. Neither packet tasted great, but that’s to be expected. Overall, it worked, but it was not pleasant."

For Bowel Preparation "Plenvu worked as described. My doctor required two 16 oz cups of water following each of the 2 doses. However, I think this was probably a good thing. Within 30 minutes, it started working. Bowel movements were not painful, no cramps, and overall it was really gentle. This was my first colonoscopy, so I can’t compare Plenvu with other preps. The taste of the first dose was mango, and the second was fruit punch. Hard to get down. Thick and so salty, and overly artificially sweet beyond anything I’ve ever tasted. I had to grit it out, and that’s the only way to get through the awful taste. Do not chug this! I followed instructions and took my time. I did still vomit after taking the second dose, but if you chug this, you are going to be quite miserable. I was still going to the bathroom right up to the time of my procedure, however, my procedure was at 7 am. Ate low fiber, no nuts, seeds, beans, veggies, or dairy for 10 days prior. This helped a lot when it came time to drink the prep."

For Bowel Preparation "Like so many others, I hated this prep and will never do another colonoscopy if I must use this product. This was my third time having this procedure, and while it has never been fun, this prep was agonizing. The taste of the first dose was almost unbearable. Afterward, it took 2 hours for it to work, and when it did, it was explosive. I didn’t make it to the toilet, and what a mess I had to clean up! It did stop in less than 2 hours, and I was able to get a good night’s sleep. The second dose didn’t taste as bad, but it didn’t sit well on my stomach, and I ended up vomiting most of it up. I had to get an enema before the procedure, which added insult to injury. Horrible product!"

For Bowel Preparation "It was very effective cleaning out bowels; however, Plenvu's taste was awful. Second dose tasted a tiny bit better than the first dose. I threw up all of the second dose after 25 minutes of finishing it. I would never use this prep again because of the horrible taste."
