For Bowel Preparation "Worst prep experience ever. It was the foulest tasting concoction this side of Venus. Honestly… who taste tests this stuff, the Marquis de Sade? Effective? If you enjoy incontinence and blowing up your local sewer system, then Plenvu is for you. Want cold chills and nausea? Then run, don’t walk, to your nearest pharmacy and pay way too much money for this prep."

For Bowel Preparation "I drank the first dose and 30 minutes later began vomiting. I’m not able to have the colonoscopy because it did not stay in my system. Be forewarned: it is awful. Extremely salty but also sour with a viscous texture. I managed to get it down, only to get nauseated."

For Bowel Preparation "Texture and taste of both doses were awful, to the point of nearly throwing up. Had to leave about one oz of the second dose untouched. I was so nauseous. The effects of the first dose began after some rumbling and gas, about one hour after drinking. Several visits to the loo, but nothing unmanageable. Second dose led to almost uncontrollable hot liquid that lasted at least 100 minutes. Very uncomfortable."

For Bowel Preparation "Started at 6 pm for early morning colonoscopy. I thought the mango flavor was okay and managed to drink extra easily. Then I struggled with the horrid fruit punch flavor that made me nauseous. I finished it, and then 5 minutes later, I vomited. Finally, I passed the first watery stools an hour later. I'm gurgling now, another hour later, after a few more motions, so I expect I will go again during the night."

For Bowel Preparation "I did both doses of Plenvu as directed. The first evening dose didn’t taste good, as many people have already shared, but I did chill it and used Sprite as a chaser to help finish it. It definitely did its job after about 1 hour. Dose 2 in the morning didn’t go as well. I was able to finish it with the help of apple juice this time, but I immediately got very nauseous and ended up vomiting two times after about 45 minutes from drinking the 2nd dose. I am not sure if my stomach was just very empty, but the 2nd dose was just hard to do in the morning after going through the bowel cleanse for most of the night. Thankfully, the 1st dose must have done a good job because it still did its job, and I was able to have my colonoscopy. I don’t know how people are able to get through the 2nd dose. It made me so sick to my stomach. I will definitely try something else in 5 years, and let’s hope there are even better options."

For Bowel Preparation "It definitely works, and you get a thorough cleanout. The flavor is awful, but that’s normal for preps. It did not make me nauseous, and that’s a big plus. Once it starts working, you will need to stay very close to the bathroom. If I had to do this again, I would definitely buy some diapers."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my third colonoscopy. I found the flavor of the first packet of this prep, which I refrigerated, very offensive. Took it at 4:45 p.m., and it just sat in my stomach hurting it. Threw pretty much all of it up 3 and 1/4 hours later. Why not let the consumers select a flavor of choice? This medication didn't work until I vomited, and then it started to cause mild movement. Ended up mixing a double dose of Miralax to compensate for the first phase since there was no way to reach the prescribing doctor after hours. I drank plenty of water too. I mixed the last dose and drank 4-6 sips at a time throughout the night, which helped move things along. Couldn't finish the whole prep though, and I usually can. Luckily for me, I had fasted most of the week, so I accomplished this process successfully. I much prefer the last brand I had over this one. Also, I was given a coupon to use that the pharmacist insisted didn't work, so I lost money purchasing this brand to boot. Won't use this brand again!"

For Bowel Preparation "Everyone's experience will be different, and I was determined to be positive, but they couldn't have made a worse-tasting prep if they tried! Ghastly. Stage one tasted nasty but worked. Stage two (commenced 5 a.m.) had a truly dreadful taste and mixture so concentrated it makes you vomit. Instructions say to take over half an hour, but the nurse said later it's better to take Stage 2 over one hour or you do get nausea. Sipped both stages through a straw to get it down and chewed gum after every sip to take the taste away. 3rd time endoscopy, would go back to Moviprep next time. It's awful too, but not as bad as Plenvu. Rating based on effectiveness, doctors prefer it apparently."

For Bowel Preparation "Like others here, this prep is just plain foul! This is my second colonoscopy, and for the first, I’d used Prepopik in the past, which was effective and relatively gentle given what it needs to do. In fact, believing this was a better product, I had no concerns. But this stuff is ghastly, and though I was able to get down the first dose without hurling, the raw, salty, sugary chemical smell is disgusting. There is no way you can replenish water or electrolytes fast enough given how the water just literally pours out of your body. Though my doctor had me start this earlier in the day, so the second dose is in the evening, sleep was elusive. Never again! It just doesn’t have to be this unpleasant."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first colonoscopy, so I have no other prep to compare it to. Yes, it was effective, though I had started eating soft foods and drinking extra fluids a couple of days before the prep, as well as avoiding the stuff the doctor had told me to (harder-to-digest stuff like nuts, seeds, and skins, etc.). It was easy to mix. It tasted weird, like a fruit punch with a salty aftertaste. But it wasn’t nauseating. I used a drinking straw at the back of my tongue to avoid contact with my taste buds and sucked on a lemon Italian ice between sips, which really helped. It took effect almost immediately. The second dose (at 2 a.m.!) was more troublesome. I felt a bit queasy, just because of the volume of water; I felt full of water to the back teeth. And when it came time to leave for my colonoscopy at 6:15, I hadn’t finished emptying my bowel. Had a headache too. But it worked."

For Bowel Preparation "The most disgusting tasting liquid to ever cross my lips, and I had to not only drink 16 ounces once... but TWICE! I am convinced my doctor is getting perks for prescribing it! Made me so sick. Gagged so many times and spit it out the few to several times my brain couldn't overpower my gag reflex. Oh my gosh, I can't believe they expect this of us. So sweet and so salty and thick and syrupy. Thank goodness it's over! Did it work? Yes, of course it did, just like Miralax does. I can't believe we have to suffer that taste twice. I am traumatized!"

For Bowel Preparation "Never ever again. I just finished the second dose of the prep, and I'm lying in bed with a bag, taking deep breaths, praying not to vomit. This is my 3rd colonoscopy, but the first time during my cleanout that I've felt like I was going to puke. I'd rather drink a ton of liquid and feel okay than drink this 'low volume' prep and feel sick to my stomach. I can't imagine ever tasting that disgusting liquid again. In fact, I may just delay my next preventative procedure. I'm now scared of the prep."

For Bowel Preparation "You know how the dentist always had that fluoride paste that they let you choose the flavor of as a kid, bubblegum or orange or chocolate, and the supposed 'flavor' was always a lie? This is like that but worse. It supposedly tastes like mango. I've never had a mango that tastes like saltwater. The flavor and consistency is disturbingly similar to semen. So hard to get it down without retching. I swear the prep I did for years ago, which made me want to die, was less disgusting than this one."

For Bowel Preparation "This was a horrible experience... it barely cleaned out my colon and made me nauseous and miserable the night before. Do not waste your money on Plenvu. I had my colonoscopy and now have to reschedule for another one in three months because it didn’t do what it was promised to do even though I followed the instructions implicitly. It’s a waste of time and money."

For Bowel Preparation "I hadn't seen these reviews when I was going to do my prep. I'm one dose in and I wanted to share my experience. I ate normally the day before prep. On the day of prep (today), I've had nothing but water, a cup of jello, and some soup broth. I began mixing my prep 10 minutes before go time at 5 pm. I kept stirring and stirring to ensure everything was dissolved. The initial smell was fruity, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once I took my first sip, it was super salty and super sweet all in one. It was confusing but not unbearable. The saltiness didn't affect me after the first 2 or 3 sips. I continuously took sips and I got it all done in less than 20 minutes. No weird tummy feelings really, just had to burp a couple of times. Once done, my stomach felt different, but not bad. One hour in, bowel movements started. Water consistency pretty much off the bat. No nausea, no real cramping. Overall, this isn't bad at all, just kinda gross lol with the bowel movements."

For Bowel Preparation "Firstly, these reviews gave me hysterics at a time when I’m 4 hours away from my 2nd prep and just off the phone to the medical hotline after thinking I was going to have a heart attack! Strangely, this has calmed me. Four colonoscopies now, and this is the WORST PREP I’ve ever had. I can look past the taste, but the nausea when trying to drink it, the nausea after, the heart palpitations, chills - I am so rugged up and still shivering. Thankful to have found this thread and discovered this is all normal. Looking forward to getting myself to the hospital in the morning so they can deal with the aftermath of this absolute ‘crap’ prep!"

For Bowel Preparation "Okay, I am a 59-year-old wimpy grandma! I have never posted a review before, but I felt compelled to do this so that people would hear my true and positive experience and not get as nervous and freaked out as I did after reading all the negative reviews. Gosh, I almost canceled it! But I just went through the prep yesterday and had my colonoscopy this morning. I am so happy to report that I found Plenvu to be easy. And that's a big deal because 10 years ago, I had a colonoscopy and the prep was so bad I sworn I would never go through that again. But due to health issues, I had to have one. I am so grateful to the people on this site who posted helpful tricks that I think really helped. 1) I was careful the few days ahead to not eat really heavy meals. 2) I REALLY hydrated myself the days before and during the prep. 3) I used a straw to get the liquid past the majority of my tongue. 4) I used spearmint/wintergreen candies in between sips. (Not peppermint, red dye swirls prevented that.) 5) The doctor had me take 2 Gas-X before the evening prep and 2 Gas-X before the morning prep. 6) Get a script for Zofran to stop nausea, the doctor had me take it an hour before each prep."

For Bowel Preparation "This was far the worst prep I ever had! Yes, less volume, but half of it was the powder prep. The taste was awful. Nauseated. Then, within an hour, diarrhea started which is expected, but I never felt the urge to go to the bathroom, it ran out of me, no warning. Didn't know I was going until I felt my butt get moist, and it was running down my legs! Thankful I had some kids' diapers I could use. Otherwise, I would have had to sleep on the bathroom floor. Did wake up due to a diaper full of poop. The second dose I could only get down 1/4 of it. Never again! This should only be used on constipated elephants!!"

For Bowel Preparation "The first dose was horrible but productive. The second dose in the morning went down but was extremely horrible, and I threw the whole thing up. Awaiting a callback from the doctor to see if the colonoscopy was canceled! I do not recommend it."

For Bowel Preparation "Just got my colonoscopy done today! I took the Plenvu prep. Yesterday, I took dose 1, mango flavor, and I’m going to be honest, the flavor wasn’t great. It tasted like a salty mango. Was it tolerable? Yes. Chase it with a drink, I chased it with 3 different drinks to switch it up. I finished it, and the bowel movements started literally immediately. It was pretty rough for the first 2ish hours, then after it slowed down a bit. I was able to get sleep just fine. I wasn’t nauseous at that point, I felt great, actually, besides the explosions going on in the bathroom. The second dose is where it started to really suck. That next morning, at 7:45 AM, I started dose 2, it was fruit punch flavor, and I already hate fruit punch with a passion. So, it made me a little nauseous, it was a salty fruit punch with a weird aftertaste. I was totally cleaned out by the time for my procedure at 12:45! I didn’t throw up at all, barely felt nauseous, which was important to me since I have a serious fear of puking."

For Bowel Preparation "First dose was bad. Really bad. Tried to be proactive with taking Zofran about 40 mins before. Still struggled to choke it down. It was thick, sweet/salty. Absolutely disgusting. Fought off gagging with every sip. Struggled trying not to vomit it up. 2nd dose was worse if that's possible. I have done a colon prep 2 other times. First was over 10 years ago. They gave me a gallon jug with a powder you mixed with water. Did another back in June prior to hysterectomy. That time was Dulcolax, 8 oz bottle of Miralax mixed with 64 oz of Powerade. So much better than Plenvu. And it cleaned me out fine! Not sure they use Plenvu. Plus, it's expensive and not covered by insurance. I will not be doing this again."

For Bowel Preparation "The first dose was taken at 6:00 p.m. and was mixed with water. However, sips of apple juice blended with ice were consumed in between, followed by another 14 oz of apple juice and ice afterward. The mixture tasted terrible, like the worst Robitussin ever. Approximately 10 minutes later, nausea set in, and Zofran was taken to alleviate it. At around 9:00 p.m., symptoms were still present, and chills occurred twice before finally going to bed at 11:00 p.m. The second dose was completed at 2:20 a.m. Apple juice blended with ice was alternated with the medication, but due to nausea, a second 14 oz of juice could not be consumed. Almost vomited twice, and the second dose was saltier and thicker with a sweeter taste. Lemon-yellow stool and rectal bleeding started at around 4:30 a.m. Managed to make it to the office by 6:40 a.m. and went to the bathroom twice before the procedure, and once after. Leg cramps are now being experienced, and not enough liquid or food can be consumed because of stomach soreness. An endoscopy was also performed, and the entire stomach is described as having 'erythema.' The cause of rectal bleeding is unknown."

For Bowel Preparation "I followed the low-fiber diet for 4 days, the last day I followed the instructions provided by the Plenvu manufacturer, not by the hospital leaflet. I dissolved two doses of Plenvu in bottled water in the morning and kept them refrigerated until the required time. I had a last meal of scrambled eggs, white bread toast, and soft lactose-free cheese with a cup of chamomile tea at 2 pm. I started sipping the first dose of Plenvu with a thin straw at 6 pm. The taste reminded me of the taste of salty water/concentrated tears mixed with sweetener and flavor. It was quite difficult to consume, but I did not have any nausea or gagging. My first bowel movement happened 70 minutes after I started drinking Plenvu. I drank 1.5 liters of water between 6:30 and 9 pm. The second dose was more difficult to drink and tasted worse, I made 3 sips at a time, followed by a small sip of water each time. I drank 1 liter of water after it. The bowel was completely clean by 11:30 pm. The colonoscopy was at 11 am, and I was told my prep was great."

For Bowel Preparation "I had my colonoscopy today. Dose 1 didn't taste bad, but I drank 1/2 cup fast every 5 minutes. I went to the bathroom for about 2-3 hours and was able to sleep all night. Both preps I felt a little nauseous only once each. It is now 16 hours after my 2nd dose, and I am still going to the bathroom. Too late to get in touch with the Dr. and can't find any info as to whether this is normal."
