Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "Was hospitalized with COPD exacerbation, and my Dr. advised me to take the Prevnar 13 because pneumonia could be fatal for me, so I did. That has been going on for 5 years now. I still have a knot where the injection was given. Nobody around here wants to hear about this, but my arm still swells up and gets hot. The pain (unbearable) goes from my elbow to my neck and causes extreme discomfort, and I have to take 800 mg of Ibuprofen and 20 mg of Flexeril 2 times a day for about 3 days, and it subsides enough that I can function. And then I'm back to it. 5 years!"

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "I'm a 64-year-old. Got the Prevnar 13 injection last Friday. Felt fatigued on Saturday and Sunday. Nauseous on Monday and vomiting in the morning. My muscles and joints in my legs started to get painful on Monday. Wednesday, and I can barely walk. Will be going to the doctor this morning. This is like a horror movie to me."

For Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "Had this vaccine at Dr.'s request. Regret it. I'd rather have pneumonia injection. The shoulder, neck, back, and arm are extremely painful. I cannot raise my arm and have no strength to lift or move my arm. Wished I had read this site before injection. I cannot drive, or worse yet, walk because I use crutches."

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "Had this given 7 days ago. Initial pressure and pain with injection and an after-injection pain rush, but then okay. Not as sore as having a flu shot afterward. Piece of cake and glad to hope that I do not end up with pneumonia, as that was really not fun at all. In the hospital for two weeks and weak as a kitten. If you need it, get it."

For Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "Got the shot. Was a little sting at the time of injection, which is normal, so I thought. The next day I couldn’t move my arm without severe pain. Ice, Tylenol, heat... nothing helps! Worst shot I’ve received."

For Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "It was initially painful, and I was told that it would hurt the next day. So I thought of it as having a tetanus booster. But within two hours, I lost the use of my arm. Abduction and adduction were painful, and I had to use one arm to lift the other and needed assistance with dressing. I lost time from work and could not drive. This is day 4. I don't see this as an adverse side effect listed on the company website, but there appear to be several examples here. I have to have one a year and a day from the date of this one, and it has made me rethink doing that at this point. Hopefully, this will start to get better. Hopefully."

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine "Had my vaccination yesterday after reading all these scary reviews. I figured that people only really review with negative experiences, instead of sharing positive experiences. I had my annual flu shot a week ago just for reference. The injection for Prevnar 13 had a slight sting. I literally went straight from the pharmacist to the doctor, and it was still cold. The little sting wasn't bad. Had a tender arm (2/10 pain) for a day. It's still tender when I touch it, but nothing serious (1/10 pain). Side effects: I didn't get a headache like everyone else claims. Felt a little ordinary for a couple of hours today, but feel back to normal this evening. Slight fever (feeling warm) last night, maybe a small amount of sweating overnight (1/10 discomfort), almost not even worth mentioning. I'd be worried if I didn't get some side effects. My body needs to build up antibodies. I need this vaccine in preparation for biologics in 2 weeks' time. You'll be fine :)"

For Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "I received this pneumococcal vaccine a few weeks ago. Other than a sore arm at the injection site, I had no other side effects. Everyone's experience will differ, but I imagine that most people don't bother to post their experience unless it was a negative one."

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "I am a 54-year-old man, and some three and a half years ago, I started my pneumonia history. I got it for the first time in December 2017. After that, I had it from time to time, and in 2019, my doctor asked me if I would take the Prevnar 13 vaccine. I was pleased and, of course, I took it in September 2019. But in March 2020, I got pneumonia again, and I took cortisone also, fifth time in six months. I had many problems from autumn 2019 to March 2020 with my lungs. (I have asthma also.) On March 28, 2020, I was diagnosed with having Covid-19, and of course, it went to my lungs because I had just had pneumonia and a gazillion cortisone courses. But luckily, it was only a problem with cough. After that, I took Pneumovax 23 in September 2020 because I was reading that it would be good to buffer Prevnar 13. After that, I had zero pneumonia and zero Covid-19."

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "A little hesitant, but at 64, the doctor reminded me I should get this shot and another next year. Having persistent asthma, I knew I should and had put it off for other shots like COVID, shingles, and flu. The doctor was pretty reassuring and experienced. Really, I’ve only had a longer local reaction, so a little soreness in the shoulder for about 4 days, but not much worse than a flu shot, to be honest. A little more fatigued than normal, but overall fine."

Pneumococcal 13-valent vaccine for Pneumococcal Disease Prophylaxis "Received Prevnar 13 a week ago. Soreness, itchiness, redness, warmth, all felt at the injection site up to this time. No clue when it will be gone. What a bad experience with this vaccine!"
