For Dry Eye Disease "So glad I read all these reviews. I started a week ago with Systane Complete for dry eye and eye fatigue. Thought I was going crazy since my eyes aren’t focusing, can’t keep them open, and have moderate light sensitivity. Seems to be getting worse the longer I use it. Going to stop and try to refresh or blink and see what happens. Will post a follow-up in a while."

For Eye Redness "I suffered from dry eye after having LASIK eye surgery several years ago. I tried Restasis (which didn't help) and was using over-the-counter artificial tear drops several times per day. My husband (who had just graduated from optometry school at the time) started me on FreshKote, and it has worked great. I use it twice daily and rarely need artificial tears anymore."

For Dry Eye Disease "Content is good, but the container is not good, 50% of the liquid is going to waste as it falls at least one drop outside the eye. It is better company use the Systane other brand bottles for this one too."

For Dry Eye Disease "I bought a two-pack of your new complete from my eye doctor, and I used it a few days. Each time, a bad burning in both eyes. Can't use it. I would like to make others aware of this product and for you to figure it out. I switched to TheraTears with no problems."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have both age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Fuchs dystrophy. Soothe XP, initially provided to me by my ophthalmologist as a sample for trial, has given me significant relief of dry eye discomfort. I have had no side effects whatsoever."

For Dry Eye Disease "I only used Systane for 3 days for mild blepharitis. It caused blurriness and extremely pronounced puffiness under the eyes (with a red vein very pronounced). It also caused a migraine. Over-the-counter allergy pills seem to have a better effect on relieving most of the symptoms. Will not use it again."

For Dry Eye Disease "I'm using Refresh Optive Mega-3 with flaxseed, and it helps immensely. So far, I haven't had any side effects. I was diagnosed with macular degeneration and dry eyes on Sept. 24, 2019, and have been using Refresh since that time."

For Eye Redness "Systane (long-lasting) makes my eyes blurry, and they stay blurry for quite a long time. However, Systane Ultra is just terrific. I have been using it for glaucoma with dry eyes for a couple of years now and find that it relaxes my eyes as well as moisturizes them. The Systane (long-lasting) was purchased in error. Went back and got the Systane Ultra again, and all is great. I highly recommend it for dry eye problems."

For Dry Eye Disease "Started using Systane Complete after the pharmacist recommended it to help with the sudden appearance of floaters. I made an appointment with an optometrist a week away. I started getting light streaks that night after two doses, but I didn't make the connection. Blurry vision as well. I thought it had something to do with the floaters. After a week, I had a complete retinal scan and eye test and was all clear. Nothing wrong. The floaters were normal. I mentioned the light streaks, and he said to keep watch for them, but he could see no reason for them. I did not mention I was using Systane. On a whim, I decided to look up the side effects. I was shocked and somewhat relieved that others had the same symptoms...light streaks and blurry vision. Sweet Jesus! This stuff is dangerous! I threw it out...and hope the light streaks stop."

For Eye Redness "I also received a sample of Systane Balance from my ophthalmologist when I asked what he would recommend for my dry eyes. I have found Systane Balance to be the best drops I have ever used for my condition. Previously, I had been using Blink and GenTeal 'Severe Dry Eye Relief' Gel, and while both of these products had provided some relief, neither can compare with Systane Balance. Within a few seconds of my applying the drops for the first time, the stinging in my eyes totally disappeared. The relief provided is also very long-lasting, with the beneficial effects sometimes lasting for more than 24 hours."

For Dry Eye Disease "I used the previous formula Systane with no problems, but this new formula burns my eyes. I switched to Genteal, and what a relief to my sore eyes. Both made by Alcon, so I don't know what the problem is, but the Ultra version hurts."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have had dry eyes for many years since 2018. I have narrow angle glaucoma and use glaucoma drops every night. I was using Hylo dry eye drops for a few years and my eyes were getting sore for no medical reason, so I chose Refresh Plus. It seems to work for my dry eyes. I use the single-use eye drops and the easy-to-use glaucoma night ones, but I found the single-use ones for Refresh Plus were harder to squeeze because I have neuropathy in my fingers. It's as if the plastic is too hard or thick. I always 'waste' the first drop of any single-use vials and then put one drop in each eye. I found that with Refresh, after that first drop, sometimes I had trouble with the second drop not coming out. Six weeks ago, I started to get sort of moving raindrops in my vision. This is under investigation, along with the floaters I already had. I doubt if it has anything to do with either eye drops, but I am searching for side effects of any eye drops or medications while waiting for a diagnosis. I am curious to read other reviews. *I never recommend meds."

"I had a tear in my retina and needed to use a good eye drop after my laser surgery. I started using these drops and experienced horrible cramping and diarrhea. My doctor said she had never heard of that side effect, but when I googled the active ingredient, it’s used as a laxative! I’m stopping today and finding other drops."

For Eye Redness "I make no tears. If it were not for this insert, I would have been put on the disabled list over 10 years ago. This medicine is safe and wonderful. I love it and thank God every day for it. If not for this medication, I would never be able to leave my house because, without it, my eyes hurt terribly."

For Dry Eye Disease "3rd day of Oasis PF Tears for dry eye. Dr. gave me 2 packages of samples. 10 vials. 3rd day of using and no relief. Luckily, I did not buy this. $25 is a lot of money for a product that is not working and making me hurt more. I have been using Oasis on my left eye and another brand on my right eye. The cheaper other brand has improved my right dry eye. Oasis, nothing."

For Dry Eye Disease "My eye doctor prescribed Systane for dry eye. I started using the product right after my exam, once a day, and since then I had issues with my eyes. Some kind of dizziness, sensitivity to light, and some eventual blurry vision and pain in the back of my eyes, it came and went. I went back to the doctor after one week to check what was going on, as I did not present any of those symptoms before the eye exam. The eye doctor said that I was not using the drops enough times a day. So, I used them more. But I started noticing that weird sensation in my eyes after I used them, like very heavy eyes that would last for hours. So I started to decrease the use of the drops, and my eyes seemed to be getting better, but I still have the heaviness that comes from time to time. So I started to research because I have been dealing with this for almost a month, and by reading these reviews, I am almost sure it is the drops. I am not using them anymore. Thank God it was not such a long time."

For Dry Eye Disease "I actually just did a search, “Systane causing grainy residue,” and I was shocked to find that other people have had side effects from these drops. I have also experienced worsened itching, burning, and blurred vision. I will not use these. I will inform the optometrist who recommended it."

For Dry Eye Disease "Just picked a bottle of 'Complete' based on a doctor's recommendation. The bottle's in the trash after a second use. The eyes felt MUCH worse after use than before. Maybe the gel would be better, but with $10 up in smoke, it won't be Systane."

For Dry Eye Disease "Oasis Tears are good, doctors consider it the best. However, it is a rip-off. The vials are a disaster, you open and you lose some. The drop in your eye takes time, and you may miss your eye. Then, they are difficult to close. Finally, it becomes so expensive that it is not worth it. Don’t buy them, there are similar products that are cheaper, and they do the same job. They are very difficult to use."

For Eye Redness "The drops worked okay, but I started to notice joint pain in my hands and legs. My legs have an almost restless legs feeling. I stopped the drops for a few days, and everything went away. I started the drops again yesterday and woke up right back with the pains and tingling. I'm supposed to use the drops 4 times a day. I have no clue why the drops would cause these effects, but I wanted to share in case someone else might have the same problem."

For Dry Eye Disease "So glad I found this site. I have had dry eyes for years. I used different kinds of eye drops, but mostly Systane Ultra and gel. Three months ago, I had YAG laser treatment for post-cataract surgery. Ever since then, I had cloudy vision due to floaters. One month ago, we moved, and I only had the Systane Ultra on hand, not the gel. So I just used Ultra. The floaters started clearing up. Three days ago, I bought the gel and started using it. Now the floaters are back. I am going to trash all the Systane bottles and find something that won't affect my vision."

"This review is for the PM ointment. The idea of putting ointment in my eyes is disturbing. Very disturbing. I’m not good when something gets close to my eyeball, so it took a lot of self-talk to put the ointment in my eyes. Before, I’d go to bed with burning and/or gritty eyes and wake up with burning eyes and/or sticky eyelids. I have none of that now…it’s so nice! It causes blurry vision, but it doesn’t matter because I use it right before going to bed. It’s a little hard to put in because too much pressure is needed to get the product out of the tube. An ointment eye product is still unsettling to me, but it works extremely well, so I keep using it. If they made a non-ointment product that was just as effective and lasted all night, I’d be the first in line."

For Dry Eye Disease "Works great!!! Much better than the other Systane OTC brand drops because it contains mineral oil. A little pricey, but well worth it. One bottle lasts me months. My ophthalmologist prescribed this and Xiidra drops (Rx only) after he diagnosed me with dry eye disease (DED) caused by meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), which is actually the main cause of DED. I also use a microwavable eye heat mask daily and Ocusoft HypoChlor, which targets the main cause of DED. These combinations of treatments have highly improved my condition."

For Dry Eye Disease "I’ve only used these drops a few times for my dry eyes, as the doc recommended, but what I find is they seem like they are just “sitting on top” of my eye without actually absorbing for a long time. Does not feel hydrating, more like irritating. I don’t have any problems with itching or burning, but they do seem to make my eyes blurrier after I put them in for quite a while, and my eyes will not focus as well. Last night, when I was driving home at night after using these about an hour prior to that, it was harder to see and the lights had more of a halo effect. I have had much better luck with simple artificial tear drops."
