Norethindrone "I started the Heather mini pill in October 2019 due to being diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I went to the doctor because my periods suddenly became extremely painful. I asked the doctor for this pill because I read it had less of an occurrence of blood clots, and I have antiphospholipid syndrome, which puts me at a slightly higher risk of clotting. It did halt my periods completely for the first few months, but they did come back. The pill did still improve my periods as there was no more pain. But I feel obligated to share that I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I am only 35 years old. No other women in my family have ever had breast cancer, but I am the first woman to be on birth control pills. I truly feel that this pill may be a direct link to my diagnosis, and I have stopped it immediately. Please be careful with this medication."

Norethindrone "I'm 41 and have had heavy periods for 3 years. I was bleeding for 10 straight days before seeing my OB. I did tests and vaginal ultrasounds, and my OB says everything looks fine. She put me on Micronor because of my HBP and because of my age. I was having breakthrough bleeding for 3 weeks after starting on Micronor. After the 3 weeks, I guess I had my period because it was heavier. I still had a little spotting afterwards, and thankfully it tapered off after a few days. Now no blood, it stopped, and I'm period free. I'm now in my first week of my second pack. I don't really have any side effects, just a little hungrier, but no weight gain yet. My complexion is fine, no mood swings, my sex life is fine, no depression either."

Norethindrone "So I started to take Errin because this was what was suggested. I regret it so much. I took it every day on time - I had an alarm set so I know it was taken on time religiously. I started to bleed constantly, and it got to the point the clots that started to come out were huge. Like ungodly, my new normal became multiple periods in a month, it sucked. Costing more in hygienic products in a month than I have spent over 3 months without taking it, I shouldn't be going through the big box of tampons in a week. -_- When they normally last me months, granted everyone can experience different things. But this is my experience and why I rated it what I did."

Norethindrone "I had been bleeding for about two months, and the doctor originally prescribed the combo pill, which made me feel off balance. I was switched to this pill, Heather, and almost immediately it stopped the bleeding. I think our bodies are all different, so what works for one person may not work for another. I'm just relieved I found this medication."

Norethindrone "Okay, so I have been on this for a week now. My face hasn’t broken out more than usual. I have insanely irregular periods, and literally the day after starting this, my period ended, and it hasn’t started up again. Before, I would have maybe two days of no period, and then it would hit me like a freight train again. My body feels much better than it has in years! Again, I have only been on this for a week. I haven’t had any weight gain or random spotting... yet? Idk. Before I got put on this birth control, I literally bled, had intense cramps, mood swings, and migraines pretty much daily. I’m not saying it’s good for everyone, as everyone’s bodies are different. It has worked wonders for me. I will post another review as time goes on. I also haven’t had any issues with my hair falling out or being dull. It’s so nice to not be so damn hormonal every day. I feel so much better health-wise now. I think it’s honestly balancing out my chemicals, but I’m not a doctor."

Norethindrone "I’ve been on this pill for 2 months now because I couldn’t take the combined pill anymore due to elevated blood pressure. I absolutely hate this pill and am switching to the implant next week. I am on my period all the time (like 3 weeks out of 4) and get terrible cramping constantly. I also get nauseous and feel like I am losing hair. For me, this pill is just not working."

Norethindrone "Errin is awful! So I had my IUD removed and was put on Errin. First month was fabulous, one regular month lasted 6 days, but my normal was 4. Still not a big deal. So, month two, first week not so bad at all, and then the rest came. It’s been about 3 months, and I have bled every week for 3 weeks. It’s great for preventing pregnancy but costing me a fortune in feminine hygiene products because I just can’t stop bleeding. My skin stays broken out, my breasts are constantly tender. The second month I bled, with a 3-day break following, and I have been bleeding since, and it’s not just a light flow. I’m talking if you feel the need to change your product, you better run to the nearest restroom. For me, it has just gushed, and I can’t quite understand why. I contacted my OBGYN and was told to stop taking it immediately, but if I had dizziness, shortness of breath, or a racing heart, I needed to get to the nearest emergency room. Apparently, it’s a common side effect but not a good one and not right for me."

"Took for 1 month. Spotting day 2-30. Terrible!! Do not take this pill!! My doctor prescribed to lighten my period. Terrible decision! Spotting every other day for over a month! I told my doctor about spotting while taking it, and she thought I was crazy! I am so annoyed!! I asked 4 times to get off of these crazy pills, and they thought I was crazy! Now reading reviews, I see I am not alone! Something needs to be done about this pill! It’s supposed to be birth control for me as well. Well, there you have it, folks-I’ve got birth control, all right-I have heavy spotting every other day, and I have been off of the crazy pill for almost 2 weeks! Shame on the manufacturer and my doctor for not hearing my concerns. I can see you gals and I are not alone-I’m sure they heard this complaint before! My question to all of you is how long it is going to be before I stop having spotting every other day. I have not taken the pill for almost 2 weeks and still have crazy spotting. Smh in Texas."

"This medication saved my life. Norethindrone acetate/generic Aygestin, 5mg 2x a day. My periods have always been extremely heavy with debilitating cramps 24/7, so much so that I could do anything but lay in bed. Took various birth control pills for years trying to find a solution. Nothing worked, so I went to the best gyno in town, and she prescribed this; I was so desperate and didn't have a life anymore. It took a few months to a year for my periods to completely go away. They gradually lightened, and cramps stopped; I could hang out with friends and go to school again. The root cause of my abnormal bleeding was a bicornuate uterus and heavy lining, and I had a procedure for that before going on this medication; it helped, but the bleeding was still debilitating, so I have Aygestin generic to thank for everything. I'm happy again, and I look forward to my life because of this medication. I will never be going off it. No side effects."

Norethindrone "In the past, I did not take any form of birth control due to the high hormone levels. I have recently had to be put on the Nora-Be for abnormal bleeding, unbelievable cramps, and just all-over debilitating monthly experiences. I have been on the 'mini pill' for 2 months so far. The first month's period was still painful but only 2 days and not the full 7, there was very little clotting, and I could still function in daily life. Not bedridden with a heating pad or ingesting a whole bottle of painkillers. It is now month 2, and my cycle should have started 4 days ago. I'm not worried one bit that it hasn't!! LOL. I have had no headaches, no neck pain, no discomfort at all. Can't really say if my weight loss is due to the pill or diet and exercise."

Norethindrone "I've only been on this medication for 1 week, and I've gained 10 lb. I haven't gained weight in over 5 years. I'm extremely bloated, water retention, headaches, and severe cramping. I want to give it a chance, but I'm 42, and these symptoms aren't tolerable. I feel bipolar and on edge. I'm scatterbrained and very emotional. No bueno!"

Norethindrone "I have used other birth control in the past that has regulated my periods like clockwork after one month of use. I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure and was told this was one of the only pills that did not have a side effect of higher BP. I gave it 4 consistent months, and after I have experienced epic bleeding, to the point it was like having 2 periods back to back, I decided it wasn't for me."

Norethindrone "Started this medication 4 months ago as a trial/alternative to hysterectomy. Thus far, I have experienced bleeding more than not. (Great way to spend summer!) The abdominal pain and never knowing when you will start to bleed out is awful!! Can't wait to meet with the doctor next month and get off of this drug :("

Norethindrone "I have been on Nora-BE for 2 full years now, prescribed post D&C for heavy bleeding and birth control. I have bad fibroids. It didn't really help with the bleeding at all. Fibroids won that battle, so I recently had the UAE procedure. Night and day! The doctor said normal periods would resume 2-4 months after UAE, and to keep taking Nora-BE. Now, 6 months post UAE, not sure when/if the period is coming. Didn't last month at all. Lots of spotting though... maybe this is my period? But spotting lasts longer than my 5-day period, more like 8-12, kind of annoying. Thought the itchiness was just me, but now that I read other users' experiences as well... I'm connecting the dots. Definitely weight gain, approximately 8-10 lbs. Breast tenderness, acne, questioning whether to continue."

Norethindrone "I have been on this pill only 24 days, so I am going to give it a chance, but... I am going through perimenopause, so I take the pill for better control of my period. Not for BC, as I am infertile. After 20 days on the pill, I started my period. The first day was minor spotting, it has now been 4 full days of heavy bright red bleeding, with constant clots. Clots when I pee, clots when I wipe, clots on my pads, clots on my tampons. Some are small, like pea size, and some are huge, like quarter size. I am extremely tired, I have no energy, and fear I am becoming anemic. My doc wants me to do a full 3 to 6 month trial with it because it does take time to get the full effect."

Norethindrone "I would not recommend this pill for anyone, not any progesterone-only pill. Bloating that makes me look 3 months pregnant, constipation, 50 pounds of weight gain in under 2 years that won't exercise off, skin feeling too tight all the time, headaches, fatigue, appetite is weird, constipation and diarrhea, mood swings, hot and cold flashes, and a never-ending period. Medical staff all say it's normal and can't be the pill... so it's all in my head. I stopped this pill 2 nights ago and lost a third of my stomach as the bloating is decreasing. Stay away from these pills!"

Norethindrone "Started May 8, and two weeks later had a full-blown period with bad cramping, lots of blood clots, and heavy bleeding. Prior to taking this medicine, I had extremely light spotting once every 4 to 6 weeks. According to the FDA, I should not have been taking this since I was postmenopausal."

Norethindrone "I have just finished my 2nd pack. Starting 3rd tomorrow. I am bleeding every other week. I started taking it to regulate my periods. It has made it worse. I am constantly bleeding, either spotting or full-blown. My breasts have gotten bigger. My mood swings are off the wall. I do not know if I can make it through this 3rd month all the way. I am tired of having to buy 2 packs of pads."

"I've been taking 2.5 mg of norethindrone acetate daily for about 4 months now to control an extremely heavy and frequent period that started happening a couple of years ago. Ultrasound showed a fibroid and thickened endometrium. Before I started, the bleeding could not be managed even with the most absorbent adult diapers, and I had to camp out in the bathroom, passing massive clots every 5-10 minutes for hours at a time for over a week, even while using tranexamic acid and ibuprofen to try to lessen the bleeding. Between periods, I would have some spotting every day. Since starting norethindrone acetate daily (no placebo pills), I have not had another heavy period (no periods at all for that matter). It did take a few months for the daily spotting to stop. Now, most days I don't bleed at all. I can actually live a normal life again. I haven't noticed any negative side effects."

"This medication has been a lifesaver for me. I have abnormal bleeding, and I hemorrhage up to 3 weeks a month. I recently hemorrhaged for 2 months straight, and my blood count went so low I needed a blood transfusion. I started taking norethindrone 5 mg a day. It took about 5 days to stop my bleeding, but I have not bled since. It's been about 2 months, and I am just starting to feel better and get my energy back from all the blood loss. I would much rather take this every day than have a hysterectomy."

Norethindrone "Stopped the bleeding but had dizziness and mood swings. Even one outburst of anger. Also, abdominal cramps. But for one week so far, 100 times better than the last 2 months of bleeding. I am 58 and use an estrogen patch. Also, Prometrium, but not enough to balance the unopposed estrogen, which caused a thickening of the lining."

Norethindrone "I have taken the pill for 26 days. The 27th, I have decided to stop! I have been bleeding heavily for 26 continuous days, plus cramping, headaches, absolute lack of libido, bigger sore breasts, need to sleep 5 extra hours per day (naps all the time), extreme sadness, vaginal dryness despite the bleeding, heavy legs, general growing fatigue, and incapacity to function normally! I switched to another pill (Lolo from Actavis), and so far, so good. I am thankful for the reviews here because I did not feel alone or getting crazy with such painful side effects. The extreme sadness was really odd. Lolo is not a mini-pill, but it has a low amount of estrogen. I am hopeful. I could not move with Micronor despite being very active normally."

Norethindrone "Started 3 nights ago to help with heavy periods. This pill has made me have very heavy clotting, cramping, and bleeding through heavy pads every 1 - 1 1/2 hours at night. Went out to lunch yesterday, and within 1 hour, had soaked a heavy pad and blood down my leg. I’ve only been on this 3 nights, and usually by now my period would be almost over. I really don’t think I should continue, I do not need this for birth control, trying to help with heavy periods, and this is the worst I’ve had in years. I’ve taken more Advil in the last 3 days than in the last 6 months due to heavy cramping. I think I’m stopping this today!!!"
