Errin (norethindrone) for Birth Control "If you’re trying not to get pregnant do not take this Errin brith control! I was out on this due to acute high blood pressure by my pcp after being on the combo pill for years. 6 months in I ended up having an ectopic pregnancy and having to have surgery to remove it along with my entire right Fallopian tube. I never missed a pill or was late. Took it by alarm every single day!! Be aware!!!"

Errin (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started this birth control in April of 2020, and this is almost my 7th month being on it. The first month was okay, but it made me really depressed. I was prescribed this birth control because I can’t take combination pills due to the fact that I have migraines. I’ve been bleeding twice a month since then, and I was told to give it time and that it would get better after the 6-month adjustment period. I’m still bleeding 2 times a month, and it’s been almost 7 months. I keep track of everything on the Flo app, and I always seem to bleed around the time that I’m supposed to “ovulate.” I’m not sure if that has something to do with it or what, but it’s very, very annoying. It’s doing its job, though I just wish I wouldn’t bleed 2 times in 1 month. It’s annoying enough having 1 period, and now I have 2."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Got prescribed norethindrone for premenopausal symptoms, have been bleeding now going on the 4th week! Called last week, they told me to stay on it. I am not liking this at all, and they said the other alternative would be IUD, which I am not happy about. May be calling my family NP to see what’s going on. This pill is horrible!"

Aygestin (norethindrone) for Endometriosis "I had 3 surgeries in 3 years for endometriosis. Tried several different birth control pills and Lupron. I missed over 80 days of school each year for two years and then was homebound for several months the third year due to the chronic pain of endometriosis. After about 6 months on Aygestin and several doses, I was back to 'normal.' Since then, I have only had one surgery in 6 years. I have taken the medicine daily for 7 years, without it, I don't know where I would be."

Camila (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I see a lot of people leave really bad reviews for this birth control pill, Camila, and while I know people react differently, I thought I’d share a positive experience. I went on Camila because I have a migraine disorder and can’t take the combo pill. The only side effect I’ve noticed (I’ve been taking Camila for almost 2 years) is occasional spotting and a slightly longer period, which are common side effects. Besides that, my period is regular and I didn’t gain weight or experience any other negative side effects."

Heather (norethindrone) for Endometriosis "I’m 47, and my OBGYN put me on Heather after I had issues with cysts and endometriosis about 2 years ago, and it has worked amazing for me in regards to pain. I don’t get my period as often now, and my pain went from a 9 to a 1 in about 6 months. It has been a life changer for me. I can’t say how well it works for actual birth control since I’ve never been able to conceive, even before starting this medication."

Nora-Be (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I am back on this birth control after not being on anything for a few years, but my periods were becoming such a nuisance with my busy schedule (9 days of heavy bleeding and clots). Due to my migraines with aura, I can't take anything with estrogen in it. I'm not sure if I'm an anomaly or why there are such terrible reviews, as I no longer have periods at all. It completely stopped my cycle, but I have to make sure to take it at exactly the same time each day. I still feel like myself - without the mood swings or crying. I am slightly more fatigued at night and fall asleep earlier, which might be a good thing. My vaginal discharge is thicker. I've actually noticed my acne improving and haven't noticed any weight changes."

For Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy "I'm taking this pill for a different reason than most, I'm transgender (FTM) and I use it to stop my period while waiting to start HRT. I'm on 5mg and it works great. I have heavy periods with intense cramps that leave me writhing on the floor in pain. It took 3 months for my period to fully stop, but each month was lighter than the last and I didn't have any debilitating cramps. I occasionally get cramps with no bleeding, but I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it's nothing to worry about seeing as I'm on a lower dose. My body still has a monthly hormone cycle, I just don't bleed. If you're looking for relief from all period symptoms, this may not be for you. For this nature of medication, everyone is very different. My experience is not what everybody else will experience."

Errin (norethindrone) for Birth Control "You have to be patient with this stuff. The first 3-6 months come with some pretty annoying side effects such as multiple periods a month, mood swings, and acne, but luckily for me, no weight gain. I take it for normal birth control and have been on it for about 8 months now, and I like it. My acne has actually gone away, and I get a period every other month that lasts about 3 days! I know this pill reacts differently on people, but I have no problem with it. I guess you can’t base your actual opinion off of using it for a week. Give it a chance and be patient. Also, you should be taking it at the same time every day for it to be most effective!!"

Heather (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started the Heather mini pill in October 2019 due to being diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I went to the Dr because my periods suddenly became extremely painful. I asked the dr for this pill because I read it had less of an occurrence of blood clots and I have antiphospholipid syndrome which puts me at a slightly higher risk of clotting. It did halt my periods completely for the first few months but they did come back. The pill did still improve my periods as there was no more pain. But I feel obligated to share that I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and I am only 35 years old. No other women in my family have ever had breast cancer but I am the first woman to be on birth control pills. I truly feel that this pill may be a direct link to my diagnosis and I have stopped it immediately. Please be careful with this medication."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "Hi. I’m reaching out because I’ve been experiencing a really weird side effect symptom when taking progesterone-only BC. Overall, side effects have been minimal... light cramping, nausea, and headaches, but nothing I can’t handle. The issue is insomnia. I had the same problem when I tried a hormonal IUD. I don’t know why, and I can’t find any literature on the issue, but it seems an increase in progesterone blocks my ability to fall and stay asleep. I was taking different sleep meds to try to help, but after about a week and a half, I had to go off of the Micronor. I just can’t function without adequate sleep. It’s very frustrating because otherwise, this pill would work. Has anyone else had this issue? Does it go away?"

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I was prescribed Micronor because I get migraines and I can't take combination birth control. I have had ZERO side effects aside from my period stopping, which is ideal (for me). I've been taking it for about a year now while with my long-term partner, and we have a lot of unprotected sex, and I haven't gotten pregnant."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I've been on it for about a year, and I love it. It took a few months for my body to settle into it. The combined oral birth control pill gave me problems with high blood pressure, etc. No pregnancy, only one month where my period was about a week and a half late, and after that, I had two periods a month for two months. Now I've settled back into it. I have actually lost weight, and before I started dieting, my breast size had increased by about a cup size. It was great! I still like it, and I'm happy to continue it."

Jencycla (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started taking Jencycla to help with heavy bleeding. My cycles were the opposite of what they should be... so instead of having my period for a week and not bleeding for three weeks... I was bleeding three weeks and not having my period for a week! I did have minor headaches when I started this. My pharmacist told me it would take at least 3 months to see any results, so to keep taking it. The first two months were the same old thing, but then last month was my third month, and I went 17 days without any bleeding!! And this month has now been 22 days without any bleeding. Knock on wood, I think it is working for me. So don't give up after a month or two, give it time to get in your system!"

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "This birth control did prevent me from getting pregnant, which is the main concern. However, I have never bled so much in my life. I am someone who has always had perfect periods without birth control. I went from that to bleeding three weeks out of the month, and it never would stop. It wasn't necessarily heavy bleeding, but it is very aggravating to bleed constantly. This medicine also made me have acne, and I normally have very clear skin. It made me have mood swings that my husband noticed. He even asked me when his nice wife was coming back. I decided after giving this three months to go for a permanent birth control method."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have uterine fibroids, and I'm anemic. I elected to have the myomectomy, however, all surgeries were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to stop the bleeding and keep my blood levels up, I was prescribed norethindrone to stop my cycles altogether. The first three weeks or so, I didn't have any bleeding. However, at one month, I began experiencing severe acne at 42 years old! The same week, I noticed bleeding and then more frequent breakthrough bleeding while at work and when I woke up. I called to tell my gynecologist about these incidents, and the dosage was increased to 1 in the AM and 1 in the PM...the bleeding never stopped. Three packages of overnight superpads and 1 box of super tampons later, I began having excruciating contraction-like cramps. I couldn't even stand up straight. I've gained 15 lbs, and within 2 months, all of this...I'm not going to take this medication. I'll take my iron pills and hope for the best with my cycles. But nothing should feel like this."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for about 7 months now. Overall, it is very effective. It took me about a month to get used to it, and I had 4 or 5 months after that that were excellent. Some people would get spotting when they were even a half hour late taking this, I had no problem whatsoever when I'd take it late. In the last couple of months, however, I have been having a period every 2 weeks. Sometimes the second one would be more spotting than bleeding, but still very annoying. Also, I have gone up 2 cup sizes since taking this medication. No real noticeable weight gain otherwise, just much larger breasts!"

Camila (norethindrone) for Birth Control "This pill, Camila, is awful!!! I’ve been off and on it a few times, unsure whether it was the pill or just me. Nope, it was the pill. If you enjoy crying nonstop for no reason, extreme anxiety and depression, unable to get out of bed due to exhaustion, weight gain, and anger issues, this pill is right for you! If not, run. This pill completely changed who I was, and I didn’t like it at all. I was no longer my motivated, bubbly self but rather a very mean crybaby who slept all the time. Not to mention the constant spotting and headaches. I couldn’t stand this pill anymore, so I quit. Highly do not recommend."

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I started taking this because my doctor said that this pill uses a hormone similar to progesterone (what the human body produces). The other pills I've tried (Tri-Cyclen, Yasmin) use estrogen, which is more likely to cause blood clots, heart attack, high blood pressure, and stroke. I had minor spotting, and then no period at all. I have had a few headaches, but I am not sure if they're related. I've also had WAY less of an appetite, which was usually the opposite when I took birth control in pill form. I'd love to have a more natural form of birth control, but at this point, I'm happy with Micronor as a solution."

Nora-Be (norethindrone) for Endometriosis "Ok, almost 3 months into taking Nora-Be, and I'm back with an update... So, I had breakthrough bleeding the first 2 months, but it slowly went away. You have to make sure to take the pill at the exact same time every day. I've lost weight, typically, looking at BC makes me gain weight. All the pain and bleeding I had for years with endo is gone. I haven't been taking the week 4 pills and jumping to a new pack, but I just read somewhere that pop doesn't have placebo pills, so the 4th week is also hormone? I'm not 100% on that yet. Ok, back to side effects... No more acne, but skin feels dry. I'm dry everywhere, unfortunately. Small price to pay for a pain-free, cyst-free existence. No headaches, no nausea, no more breakthrough bleeding. Will update in another month..."

Errin (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I have been on this pill since November, and I love it. I have not had a period since then. I only spot when I forget to take the pill. This honestly has been the best pill I have been on. I have had no bad side effects from this pill. I would recommend it to anyone who can only do progesterone only."

Nora-Be (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "49 years old, got on this medication to regulate insanely heavy periods. At 7 weeks, I have not yet had a period - yay! However, in the last two weeks, I began developing lower abdominal pain and cramping on the right side. At times, there is a great deal of pressure, causing an urgency to urinate. Very distracting and uncomfortable and has me using the bathroom every hour. My doctor said to try to stick it out, but I am getting off of this medication due to these side effects. I read online that progesterone can cause changes and functioning to the GI tract like mine. I also have some nausea and heartburn with this medication, so I don't think it is for me. I also noticed my hair falling out at about week 5. Everybody is different, but I think I will try a more natural approach to lightening my periods. Good luck, everybody!"

Ortho Micronor (norethindrone) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this for about 6 months now after being on desogestrel and constant bleeding. Seem to be on a 26-28 day cycle and bleeding lasts between 4 and 6 days, but 2 weeks after, I get another period. My mood is often low on this pill, and I often feel weepy. The cycle is doing my head in now, and I'm terrified there's something wrong with me. Want to just stop but scared I'll always be this messed up. Anyone else experienced this? I'm 38."

Camila (norethindrone) for Endometriosis "I've been on Camila now for just about 4 months. This is actually my first time ever being on an oral contraceptive at the bright age of 30! I chose the mini pill instead of a combination pill, as it has decreased risk of developing blood clots (DVT/PEs). I work in an ER, so there was no escaping this unfortunately (scarred for life lol). Anyway, so far I have really had limited side effects. My sex drive is actually WAY increased, despite the labels saying it will decrease. My periods are somewhat lighter (this was my incentive for even initiating an oral contraceptive), and I am hoping that they will continue to lighten up with time. My cramps are somewhat less severe, also hoping for these to let up with time. No increased acne issues. No weight gain. I have felt some occasional feelings of tiredness and not really wanting to do much, but I'm uncertain if that is related to this medication or not. I would highly recommend this medication to a friend!"

Camila (norethindrone) for Birth Control "I just switched to this pill from the combined one. I don’t do well with birth control, but condoms make me itchy after sex. I just wanted to input from any hypochondriacs like me who look at these threads for info that EVERYONE EXPERIENCES HORMONES DIFFERENT! What worked or didn’t work for someone won't always affect you the same! So keep that in mind before freaking out! I remind myself this every time I read BC reviews!"
