For Constipation, Chronic "I read the reviews here and was resistant to using Movantik because of the negative reviews. But my doc insisted he'd gotten no negative feedback, so I decided to try it. I figured I could handle some withdrawal symptoms if it relieved this horrible constipation. Prior to this, I'd had no pain or cramping in my abdomen, just the knowledge that I hadn't gone in two weeks and the stool sitting at my rectum, not going anywhere. I took the 25 mg tablet at 6:30 a.m. Within one hour, I had the worst abdominal pain and cramping, miles beyond anything I've ever gone through. I had to try to move the stool manually. I was literally shouting in pain, sweating profusely, and my nose was running like a faucet. Cutting to the chase, I went 911 to the ER where the doctor had to manually disimpact me. That was a horrific experience. I've never had abdominal cramping like that. That's due solely to Movantik. I always try to be compliant with doctor's orders, but I'm never going to touch this drug again."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I've been on it for a week, and man does it work. Within 15-25 minutes, I'm going to the restroom 3 or more times. I take it when I know I have nothing to do for at least an hour or two because you don't want to be running errands when it starts to work, as you will never make it home or to a restroom in time. I am on pain medication for 4 failed fusion back surgeries, and I was drinking Miralax 3 times a day as the doctor recommended, but I couldn't leave the house because I was always running to the bathroom. When taking this pill, I can plan days where I take it hours before my errands, and it runs its course before I have to go, or I'll take it at night when I know I'm staying home the rest of the night. I have had stomach aches and a growling stomach. It does give you some withdrawal."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "So for constipation, 10 stars! It worked fast too, but if you are not taking your pain pills, do not take! I thought I'd be okay with the fentanyl patch in my system as I had not needed one of my oxycodone that day, and I had horrible side effects of withdrawal symptoms, fever, chills, couldn't get warm, then would sweat real bad, it was terrible. I thought I had an infection again because those side effects mimic infection too. Today I really want to take one but am scared. Should I take it BEFORE I take my pain pills? What works best? I'm already constipated, don't need to be feeling sick also! Thanks!"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been taking Movantik for four days straight now as directed by my pain management doctor, and the pain in my stomach is so severe that I think I might pass out. The pain is unlike any pain I have had. It isn’t the gassy pain I have had before, this is different and much worse, so nauseated, heartburn/acid reflux incredibly bad, and suffering through this all, and I have not gone to the restroom yet. I am throwing this bottle out. I, like you all, was researching this medicine because I feel so bad. I was completely unaware of the side effects and withdrawal symptoms that this medicine causes. Maybe some of this is withdrawal as well. Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. If not for you, I would have continued taking this."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "This drug never worked for me. It caused withdrawal symptoms and almost killed me! I was in 10 times more pain because it was causing me to withdraw from my pain meds. I do not recommend anyone take this horrible drug! Doctors just write it to make money and do not check to see how awful the side effects are!"

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Only been taking this drug for one week. My pain doc gave me some samples of Movantik 25 mg. Took it around 7 a.m. By the 3rd day, it started doing what I had read. However, by the 6th day, I had mild withdrawal. I still could function. I took my dose of MS Contin 45 mg, and after about an hour, I was feeling better. Today, I asked my pharmacist about cutting it in half, and she didn't see a problem. So I will let you know how that works out. I am surprised that many have related like total withdrawal symptoms. For me, OIC with IBS disables me about 3 days a week. I am so sick that anything is better. So at this point, I am taking 45 mg morphine ER 3 times a day, 1 10 mg Norco daily. I think with adjusting it, that it will be helpful for me in the long run."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have taken opioids for 15 years, multiple back injuries and others. I'm getting older and don't move around as much. Anyway, I was given 25 mg and tried 1 pill. It was too much. Caused cramping, pain, some diarrhea, but gave relief. I believe it caused withdrawals for days. And though it is not listed as a laxative or fast-acting, it was my experience anyway, it was. I tried a third about 8 mg. That also acted fast. After not taking it for 3 days, I'm going to give it a try after another day or 2. This time, a quarter or 6 mg max. I feel it will still work. Everyone is different and taking different doses of opiate. If you choose to try this med, I would start with a very low dose while at home. And be sure to save your pain med till after, or take it long enough before it doesn't completely leave you in withdrawals. My half dose left me feeling worse than the constipation days later. I think that's what it was. So my final opinion, it can work, but needs to be better regulated than prescribed."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "I take 60 mg of oxy and take 10 mg methadone (slow withdrawal from 17 yr of prescribed methadone). I get less withdrawal symptoms if I take 1 hour before eating, always first thing in the morning. Today, I had bad symptoms because I had food with the pill, and it really shook me up with bad withdrawal symptoms. I try to take this every other day and take Miralax the night before the Movantik dose. Give this drug at least 1-2 hrs to work in the morning BEFORE pain meds. This will give the drug time to be absorbed and block the receptors that cause constipation. An empty stomach is really critical too! Alternative is warm water enemas every 2 days."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Paramedic injured on the job in 2003, I've been diagnosed with 8 herniated discs, 2 torn rotator cuffs. MOVANTIC did cause withdrawal from my max dose of 60 mg Oxycodone (15 mg 4x day) MDs and pain management stat due to pain related to my injuries. I will be on opioids the rest of my life. With that said, my constipation has gotten worse, requiring a Fleet for every BM. June 22nd, the Fleet stopped working. So I had to use Magnesium Citrate every day. Went to the GI doctor July 27th, 2021, diagnosed with OIC. I was given a sample of MOVANTIC. I took a pill at lunchtime, and 4 hours later I had a normal soft BM. Two hours later, I had a second BM with no Fleet use. I can't do withdrawal and pain of 10/10 every day, so it will be every few days. I can't pay the $500 a month for an OIC medication, and I can't walk when detoxed (2X), so I suffer for doing my job, as I'm not a drug abuser."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "I read some of this stuff and just lol. 'Worst cramps ever,' 'Horrible pain,' 'Wanted to die,' 'Withdrawals unbearable.' I think the problem is many of you, in this modern age, cannot stand a little discomfort because you haven't had to most of your life. ...science has done so much to improve our lives."

For Constipation, Drug Induced "Movantik does nothing more than put you in complete withdrawal. Eat a high-fiber diet and you won't be put through HELL! The pain docs will not tell you this when they prescribe it. And that's what the pharmaceutical co. don't want you to know! No more of my money."
