Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "The medication worked very quickly, but I had severe stomach cramps and nausea for several hours. This was a miserable experience, one that I can't imagine subjecting myself to on a daily basis. I also experienced some mild withdrawal type symptoms: muscle cramps in my legs and some mild anxiousness."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I take three hydrocodone a day and normally take a fiber supplement, but find myself in trouble sometimes. Taking this in 25 mg starts working in a few hours for me and lasts two days, ending in nausea. I'm just not happy ruining two days, so I found over-the-counter magnesium citrate that you drink and fast solution with no lasting nausea."

Naloxegol for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I am a recovering addict who is prescribed Suboxone. I suffer from extreme opioid-induced constipation. The medication didn't work. It made me very nauseous and just made my gut feel crappy in general (no pun intended). I tried sticking it out but had to stop after 2 weeks. Also, Movantik caused me to test positive for both methamphetamine and morphine. As part of my treatment, I am required to go in twice a month to talk to an addiction doctor and get my Suboxone. I am required to not use any non-prescribed or illegal substances. I have never in my life touched methamphetamine and have only been given morphine in a hospital setting. I have been clean for nearly a year with the UAs to back it up and now I suddenly have a dirty test. The ONLY thing that changed was the Movantik. I've ruled out my other prescription medications and any OTC substances I've taken. Movantik is, without a doubt, the culprit. There are other medications that are reported to be better and more effective for OIC."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Chronic "I have taken Movantik less than a week, and it has not worked for me. I have severe abdominal cramps, nausea, bloating, flatulence, and really bad constipation. I was hoping Movantik would work as well as Amitiza did. Do not like this medication and will discontinue it!"

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Extreme withdrawal symptoms. Chills, runny nose, cramps, pain, nausea, shakes, felt terrible. It worked well for the first two days for a bowel movement, but then stopped working as well. The bad side effects continued all the time I was on the drug (2 months). My pain doctor was surprised at my reaction to the drug, as most of her patients handle it well. Insurance (UH) refused to pay for it after 2 months. My cost was going to be around $400 a month, not worth it for me."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Started taking Movantik 25 mg. Was very skeptical about it after reading reviews. I have been on opiates for 10 yrs. for chronic back pain. I spoke with the doctor, and he said I could use Zofran and Bentyl if needed. Took the first dose, waiting for the worst. I had a bowel movement within 2 hrs. of taking the medicine. Normal side effects the first day. The 3rd day was rough: nausea, cramps, and fatigue. Continued side effects lasted about 2 weeks. Not unbearable. Started having 2 bowel movements a week. So much better than every 14+ days. And then only with major colonoscopy cleansing. I experienced irritability and mood swings. The doctor had me stop and switch to Amitiza. That was awful, didn't help, made symptoms of OIC return with a vengeance. Went back to Movantik."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "I have been taking Movantik for four days straight now as directed by my pain management doctor, and the pain in my stomach is so severe that I think I might pass out. The pain is unlike any pain I have had. It isn’t the gassy pain I have had before, this is different and much worse, so nauseated, heartburn/acid reflux incredibly bad, and suffering through this all, and I have not gone to the restroom yet. I am throwing this bottle out. I, like you all, was researching this medicine because I feel so bad. I was completely unaware of the side effects and withdrawal symptoms that this medicine causes. Maybe some of this is withdrawal as well. Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. If not for you, I would have continued taking this."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "It makes me go, but every so often I get severe stomach cramps, nausea, and feel like I am going to die. I sweat so much, feel dizzy and sick, and the pain is worse than labor. I actually feel like I am going to die. I am sure it must be the drug. But I'm a bit confused as to why it doesn’t happen all the time."

Naloxegol for Constipation, Drug Induced "Like others here on long-term narcotics. I’ve been higher, but I currently take MS Contin 105 mg/day. I was hospitalized for nausea and vomiting, and my abdominal CT showed both my large and small intestines filled with poop. I was given Movantik 25 mg, and it seemed to work, I had at least some BMs 4/6 on it with no side effects. Then I again had nausea and vomiting, and despite my having BMs, I was still filled with poop. I was cleaned out with an enema, but when I went to restart the Movantik, nothing, no response. Even adding Miralax, I had no response. I ended up being switched to Linzess with mixed results. No idea why it seemed to work only to not work after hospitalization."
