For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I have been struggling with abdominal pain and nausea for six months. I have diverticulitis, and I thought perhaps it was due to that. I had an ultrasound and a CAT scan done, and everything was normal. I didn’t realize that perhaps it could’ve been the AREDS 2 that I started taking. After hearing all of the other comments, that’s what it was. I asked my eye doctor what she recommends, and she told me about another vitamin to take. I have just ordered some, and I have stopped taking AREDS 2."

"I've taken PreserVision 2 for seven years. (2 per day) I give it 0 stars. Since they changed to the smaller caplet, my stomach gets very sick every time I take it. And in spite of taking it faithfully, my right eye has converted to wet macular degeneration. It is impossible to know if it actually helps."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I don’t normally write reviews, but I wanted to share a positive experience with AREDS 2 that my mom and I both had. My mom was first prescribed AREDS 2 by her optometrist after her cataract surgery at the age of 75. She had no issues or side effects from this vitamin supplement. After her follow-up appointment with her eye doctor and the positive benefits it was doing for her eye condition, I also started taking them at the age of 45. I have been taking them now for 8 years, and through laser surgery, my doctor was impressed with how fast my eyes healed. I haven’t had any reactions or side effects from this vitamin supplement either, and I believe it has also helped in keeping my eyes moist and from drying out. My review is to say that AREDS 2 has helped and worked as described benefits for our family, and we have been very fortunate not to have had any of the allergic reactions that have been noted and discussed in the previous reviews and warnings."

For Iron Deficiency Anemia "I had gastric bypass surgery years ago and use it for anemia related to it. It is great at absorption and very little gastric distress, if any at all... WORTH the extra money and cheaper by far than IV iron transfusion."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took AREDS 2 religiously twice a day, probably about 8 years. When zinc became popular for COVID prevention, I googled and realized I was getting twice the recommended dose of zinc in AREDS. I then saw I had several of the rare side effects of AREDS. The only one I can definitely attribute to AREDS is breast pain, which went away when I stopped taking it. Joint pain, trouble going to sleep, low energy, and a weak feeling could be age. The retinal doctor was almost rude when I told him and asked about only taking one a day. My eyes hadn't gotten worse while on it. I haven't had an exam since stopping it."

I reduced to 1 a day and began taking it with food, but nausea persists. I have to immediately eat rice cakes after to get rid of the nausea. For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Bought this product 8-11-2022 at Costco store, was suggested by their pharmacist. Since I was diagnosed, I have cataracts in both eyes. Go home same day, take 2 pills as it suggested after my meal, threw up about 20 minutes later. 8-12-2022, only ate cereal, after that took 2 pills as it suggested, threw up about 20 minutes later. 8-13-2022, only ate steamed rice, after that took 2 pills as it suggested, threw up about 20 minutes later. Today, 8-14-2022, I’m going to stop taking this PreserVision AREDS 2. This product, to me, is like food poison, it made my stomach upset and made me nauseous and threw up. Not good. Will take the bottle back to Costco and get my money back."

I still have 20/20 vision after seeing the optometrist last month, and thankfully no eyesight problems. However, my mom and I also think my grandmother were both diagnosed with macular degeneration. What a mistake! Less than 30 minutes after taking one of these capsules, I had awful abdominal pains and felt sick to my stomach! I am just going to throw them away … Not going to risk ruining another afternoon feeling this badly! Surprised that an OTC vitamin like this would cause such serious side effects."

I got these-taking 2 a day-both chocolate and caramel. I thought they would have a chalky aftertaste, but they don’t! Have to be careful because you want to eat more of them. For Iron Deficiency Anemia "I’ve been unable to tolerate any of the previous formulations of iron, so I was switched to Niferex with promises that it was much better tolerated by patients. This has actually been the worst one for me. Whereas the other formulations gave me constipation and nausea, Niferex gives me diarrhea, nausea, and such painful stomach cramping that I have to mentally psych myself up to take the next dose and then regret it hours later when the cramps set in every time. Tried it with food, and no change. Yikes."

"Eye doctor wanted me to start taking these as a precaution against macular degeneration occurring in the future. He had me take another brand last year, which I threw out after two days due to nausea and sweating. Tried this brand for two days, once a day with food. The first day, I developed diarrhea, which I didn't associate with the pill. The second day, I had nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, lethargy, and weakness. This stuff is horrible and once again, threw out the bottle. I have been doing research for natural ways to help protect against eye problems, and there are many sound recommendations for the Mediterranean diet, which I will try."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took AREDS 2 Plus Multivitamin for a couple of years with no problem. Now they no longer sell it with the multi included, so I am taking the plain AREDS 2 formula. It causes me an upset stomach, and the other version caused no problem. I know AREDS 2 is the gold standard, but I am going to look elsewhere for similar vitamins. I have been on this version for 1 week."
