For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Severe diarrhea within 3 hours of taking this multivitamin. Luckily, I was at home. It came on suddenly, no cramping, just all of a sudden I lost my bowels. Very thin and had no control. I looked it up, and this happened to others too."

"I’ve been taking it for 2 years for terrible hot flashes and night sweats. It made a HUGE difference, and I thought it was a miracle cure! For the past 6 months, I’ve had a persistent low-grade fever, severe nausea, and abdominal pain, as well as elevated liver enzymes and high triglycerides. After an ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI, it’s been narrowed down to my liver, which is enlarged and inflamed. Black cohosh in Estroven can cause all this. I stopped taking it a week ago. So far, no change, but I’m praying it hasn’t done permanent damage. Please research and use caution if taking this. Look up Drug Induced Liver Injury."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "After reading through these accounts of AREDS 2 side effects, I am starting to wonder whether my frequent headaches, occasional bad constipation, dizzy spells, and a recent diagnosis of low blood pressure (90/49) after three months on AREDS 2 for macular degeneration might be related. It never occurred to me until I read this chat box. I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced a significant drop in their blood pressure due to AREDS 2. Before switching to the new AREDS 2, I was using AREDS with lutein, which had stabilized my macular degeneration without any complications."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My eye doctor recommended that I start taking this supplement after he discovered that I have the beginnings of glaucoma. I would take one in the morning and one at night. Within a short amount of time, I experienced a very sore feeling in my stomach, with a lot of belching and horrible, persistent gas. I thought it was due to a new coffee that I was trying. I have been diagnosed with gastritis and a bilateral hiatal hernia in the past, so I have to be careful of what I consume. I initially did not think that AREDS 2 was the culprit. I changed coffee and stopped taking all of my supplements, and quickly I felt so much better. I decided to slowly start reintroducing my supplements back in. And then it occurred to me that I should look up the side effects of AREDS 2. Boy, am I glad that I did! I found all of these reviews, and I was astonished. I felt that I needed to contribute my experience as well."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Bought a bottle of Ocuvite Adult+ Vit. & Min. Supplement at our drug store on July 28, 2022. Expiry date was okay: 2023-08. I took one gel cap around 10 pm. I woke up with a horrible headache. Pounding, stabbing, and my head felt swollen as if it was going to explode. I am totally healthy... took no other meds... don't get headaches normally. The drug store won't take the pills back, and there's a 1-800 number on the package for Bausch+Lomb, which I could call to get a refund! It's July 29 noon now, and the headache is gone, but my head is still buzzing and my balance is off. I hope they take it off the market!!!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I should have checked before ordering this medication. I took my first dose yesterday, and within an hour was horribly ill with stomach cramps, severe bloating, nausea, and back pain. Somehow, it didn’t occur to me that it was the PreserVision. I just took a second day's dose twenty minutes ago, and am already feeling sick again. Googled and found these reviews. I’m so angry. This is ridiculous. This shouldn’t even be on the market or, at the very least, should come with clearly marked warnings. Sitting here, wondering if I should try to bring this dose back up or flush my system with water."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Actually, I've been on Hemax for a short period of time, per the recommendation of my OB/GYN, versus me taking 6 pills a day per my primary care physician. I like it so far, the side effects are minimal. Please be sure to read the label, as there were some 'don'ts' included that I normally do every morning, like drinking coffee and eating eggs. These items should not interact with this pill, and I'm glad I caught that before I started taking it. It's best on an empty stomach. I'm happy to be taking one pill, which has everything in it that the 6 had, and has more iron. So, right now I think it's pretty good, and hopefully will have a positive effect on my iron levels the next time I have my labs done."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I have wet macular degeneration in one eye. Have been taking Eylea injections every 6 weeks for two years. In the last six months, taking 2 PreserVision AREDS 2 capsules each day, the most annoying symptom is severe constipation, which I have rarely had in the past. My retina specialist recommended these, and I have regularly taken them. I’m interested in another compound which would be effective."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I have used AREDS 2 for at least 4 years with little problem, but in the last few weeks have had extreme leg pain to the point that walking is difficult. I only take AREDS and B/P medication, and after talking to my doctor, who has never heard of this problem with AREDS, we changed my B/P meds, which did not help. I researched on the computer and found that AREDS can cause this problem. I have stopped the use of AREDS 2, and after a week, my pain is so much better. Have other people had any similar issues? I wish there was better documentation!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "This works great for me. My vision has improved some, and the dry eye symptoms are better. I have noticed no side effects. I have very early stage macular degeneration, which my mother also had. I hope it helps ward that off."

For Dietary Supplementation "I have been taking Estroven for about 3 months. I felt better, but then I started to get stomach pains. So sad, not sure why I had this. Also, I do have weight gain and bloating. So, I had to get off of this. Not sure if it’s a particular ingredient?"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took Estroven for a month for delayed sleep, painful periods, brain fog, and fatigue. I noticed I started feeling better, I could sleep better, brain fog decreased, energy increased, and periods were less painful, with no headaches. I felt I had found the right pill. Only after my periods I got terrible constipation and a headache. It was so bad that I wanted to go to the emergency room but took a stool softener and got some relief. I stopped taking Estroven, but even after a week, the constipation hasn’t gone away completely. I did some research, and it turns out Rhodiola Rosea, the main ingredient in Estroven, could change the gut microbiome. It definitely altered my gut microbe, hence, the constipation won't subside immediately. I really do like the way I felt on Estroven and hope I can continue using it if I can remediate my constipation."

For Dietary Supplementation "Ok, I've been taking these for a couple of weeks. Within a day or two, I noticed a serious lightening up of the fuzz brain I'd been having, felt more clear. I have had a loss of appetite, but no gain or loss of weight yet. I did have a small episode of itchy hives on my arm and didn't realize the possible connection until I reread the side effects. I also haven't seen a big change in hot flashes yet. So far, getting brain back has outweighed anything negative."

In the 3 years I have taken them, my dry MD has remained the same. No worsening. I take one in the a.m. before breakfast. One after dinner. Very happy with the product."

I’m getting my money back from Costco and telling my 2 eye doctors and will be looking for something else. I think PreserVision needs to know about these complaints and devise a new formula."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I started taking AREDS 2 many years before my diagnosis of AMD. My dad took them for his AMD, so I was genetically in the high-risk category and figured I'd get a 'leg up.' I've been taking them for probably 8 years with no problem, and that (and, I'm convinced, my daily dose of blueberries - doctor-approved!) has kept my AMD from worsening. Just recently, I started getting blurriness in one eye and went to see my specialist to make sure it wasn't a bleed (I have dry MD in both eyes). He said there had been a couple of recent studies about MD and zinc, and since I was in the high-risk range, he gave me a substitute eye supplement with only 25mg of zinc as opposed to 80. So while I just recently had a problem with it (perhaps), I have to say it's served me really well for a long time."

"I was diagnosed as having macular degeneration at my last eye appointment. I'm 54 and have to wear readers. I noticed after taking 2 per day (am & pm) with meals that a strong foul odor is present in the bottle? So I searched it on the internet. I'm finding that although nothing is noted about the odor, a lot is said about side effects. I'm actually experiencing some of these. Tiredness and blurry vision to start with. I'm a very active hyperactive person and I have been running behind on energy lately. I'm also noticing that I HAVE TO WEAR MY READERS when before I could get by."

I tried again the next morning and became very nauseous and tired, and had projectile vomiting and slept all afternoon. Not a good vitamin for me. My husband takes it and has no problems! For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "This drug gave me the worst constipation I've ever experienced. I drink a pot of coffee every morning, and after I have a bowel movement without fail, like clockwork. Not on this drug! I took this drug, 1 gel capsule per day for 3 weeks before I realized this was the drug causing it. The constipation was so severe, it took two Enemeez in a row, and it was the most painful pass of my life. I've been off of the drug for 3 days now, and it's getting better, but WOW! Avoid this drug like the plague!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Diagnosed very young for age-related MD - I’ve been on AREDS for years with very little progression of this disease. Because I have taken AREDS, I can only tolerate one per day, and yet it held my MD from getting worse, it has gotten better! I’m 61 now - I thought I’d be blind! It does make me sick sometimes, and it’s awful, but I’d rather be sick sometimes than blind. I’m grateful even when I’m terribly sick."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "After noticing a decline in vision that I was told is normal for my age, I tried a bottle of PreserVision once and noticed some blurred vision, but no noticeable improvement overall. A couple of years later, I decided to try again, starting with two bottles. (Since I usually do not have bad reactions to supplements and I had taken these previously.) Immediately, I noticed mild to severe nausea after every pill. I stopped taking them and tried again a few times, taking one a day. Still no improvement in nausea and some blurred vision. I regret purchasing two bottles and will definitely be more careful with supplements in the future."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My doctor advised that I had the very early signs of macular degeneration and suggested AREDS 2 (one per day in the morning). A week later, I had a terrible dizzy spell. Thought maybe it was just from the heat. However, two days later, I was sitting in the house and had another terrible dizzy spell. The only thing I could contribute it to was AREDS 2. Stopped taking them and have not had any additional dizziness. I have since talked to others who have taken this drug, and they advised they stopped taking it due to various issues they experienced."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I started taking PreserVision on the advice of an optometrist who said she detected AMD in my right eye. I started taking it 4 months back. About 3 weeks back, I started noticing that my eyes get tired quickly and my vision getting blurred. It seemed to get worse day by day. I assumed that my AMD was getting worse, but does it progress so quickly? Then I read the reviews here and saw other people were getting blurred vision too. I stopped it 3 days back, and it seems my blurred vision is improving. Not sure yet. I am meeting an ophthalmologist this week and hope to find out the truth."

"I have been taking these for about 12 months. My macular condition is at an early stage, and my optometrist suggested I take PreserVision AREDS 2 to hopefully slow the disease down. I have no side effects from the drug but find the big tablets difficult to swallow. I have just ordered a chewable version which will make it so much easier to take. Only time will tell if they help my macular problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a positive outcome."
