For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "As my husband takes a lot of medicines, it was hard to tell which started his thankfully past illness. He started getting mouth ulcers. We went to the ER, they sent him home, though it was canker sores and would go away. After that, he became dehydrated and nauseous, finally in the hospital again for 6 days diagnosed with diverticulitis. I couldn't find the correlation until I was reading these reviews. He was taking these 2 times a day for 2 weeks before onset. Again, not sure yet if these caused it, but to be safe rather than sorry. Throwing out an appointment with the eye doctor coming up."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "It is most likely the zinc causing nausea, but could also be vitamin A. I have a very sensitive digestive system, and I can take Lutein 40 mg, Zeaxanthin, Vitamin C 1000 mg, and E with no issues. If your doctor insists, at least try the vitamins other than zinc and A and see how you feel. Some are better than none!"

For Dietary Supplementation "I'd been using a patch for relief of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) since having a complete hysterectomy about 8-10 years ago. Now that I am of Medicare age, my insurance company would not refill this Rx. I decided to try Estroven to help with hot flashes. It has worked great for me! No hot flashes now."

For Dietary Supplementation "I’ve been taking Estroven for over 6 weeks for irritating and embarrassing hot flashes. The product I chose is not specifically for weight control, I have been noticing that my face looked very round and my eyes very puffy in the mornings, and I gained 11 pounds in a very short time without a huge change in my diet or routine. I noticed a little labored breathing, and the end of my tongue feels like it’s been scalded, but I haven’t burned it. I like to call my horses in the morning by rolling my tongue in a shrill ringing sound, and I was concerned because it felt like my tongue was numb or felt large, so I couldn’t make the sound easily. It seems like my hot flashes are a little less severe, but I am not okay with the weight gain or the mouth issues, and my sleep is not any better. I am not having any serious issues with depression and mood swings, so I just need to cool the hot flashes!"

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I'm so sick right now, I don't really like typing this review. I bought a bottle of 120 PreserVision, per my eye dr. orders. I do have M.D. Last night I counted what was left in the bottle. I have taken 28 caplets. I have only been taking one a day. I have been so sick every day. Sick at my stomach, stomach pain, very weak, very tired, my back and joints hurting to the point I have had to use pain meds. I have been to the ER with horrible pain in the middle of my back around to my side and chest. It wasn't a heart issue. My vitals were okay and my blood test was okay. I'm a person who was walking 2 miles most days of the week. I can't now. I have low back pain, leg pain, and heel pain. I have felt very unwell every day since the day I started taking AREDS 2. I can't swear that all these problems are caused by PreserVision, but after reading these reviews I'm not taking more. I told my eye dr. about my problems taking P.V. AREDS 2, he told me to keep taking them."

For Dietary Supplementation "After two months of using this product, I've noticed my mood swings are much better, though the night sweats are still bothersome. I fall asleep better than before, which is a plus for me. Still battling the hot flashes that drive me up the wall. Not sure if I'm taking the right kind of estrogen. Spousal fights have been curbed drastically, so it has benefited me a lot."

For Dietary Supplementation "Took this drug Estroven, and within an hour, was so dizzy I had to lie down. I got so bad I couldn’t open my eyes without the room spinning. Could not believe it. Stayed in bed for 6 hours, fighting nausea and extreme dizziness. I’ll take the hot flashes to this."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I am a senior. When I got an eye test, the doctor told me I had little inklings of this, that, and the other, but that I still had 20/20 vision. He recommended PreserVision AREDS 2. When I received the bottle, I looked at the 'ingredients' on the back and dosages. I was very surprised at the amounts of zinc, especially. So I got on the internet and looked up what the FDA's daily recommendation was for zinc. According to what I read, the level of zinc is at the toxic level. That scares me. Taking one pill a day seems like the maximum the FDA says is enough. Taking two pills a day puts the amount well over the safe recommendation. I will only take one pill a day to hopefully avoid any of the side effects. I will do more investigating. There has to be something else.."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took these vitamins for about a week and experienced ongoing dizziness. Since I bought two bottles, I tried to take them again and was unsuccessful, more dizziness. I switched to Walmart brand, and there has been no dizziness, however, sometimes I get headaches, fatigue, and have gained some weight after taking them for about a year. Then I decided that because the AREDS2 study mentioned that the body only absorbs 25 mg of zinc from these daily pills, I purchased another brand that sells its formula exactly as the PreserVision one except for the zinc, only 25 mg per day. Feeling much better. Also, need to watch my sugar intake, it seems to be much worse since I’ve been taking these vitamins."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "The AREDS 2 I have been taking for over a month now. I do not have any eye problems except for a slight cataract in one eye. I’m basically taking it as a precautionary measure. I have found that in general my vision has improved some and my eyes are not red in the morning. The cap is easy to swallow, and I take it with a full glass of water. I have to time it perfectly as to the timing of any dairy, antacids, and calcium consumption. I feel that it is doing good!"

I had no idea it could have been caused by the PreserVision! I will immediately stop taking them, as I haven’t felt well since the day I started taking them! My vision is blurred, making it impossible to do even with my reading glasses, which I don't always use. This stuff is junk, it affects my sleep and my daily activities. I am tired all the time."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I just wanted to improve my eyesight, and my mom recommended AREDS 2. Never taken them consistently, but experienced nausea every time, especially if I took it on an empty stomach. Two days ago, I took my regular vitamins, which consist of vitamin D and iron, and a few minutes later, took an AREDS 2 and got horribly sick. I had severe stomach cramps and nausea, I couldn’t get out of bed I was in so much pain. After taking Prilosec and a Nexium, I managed to feel a little better that evening. The next day, every time I tried to eat or drink water, my stomach began to cramp, and I experienced extreme dehydration and joint pain no matter how much water I drank. Hopefully, the worst is over, will never take those again! They should be taken off the market or have some serious warnings on them!"

Then I got a floater for the first time. That’s when I found this forum and started reading about other side effects: constipation. Yep. Headaches. Yep. I also started having a floating feeling in my head. It all sent me to the doctor to rule out causes. I’ve stopped taking this and have started feeling better. Anyone experience the ghosting? For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I became nauseous within ten minutes of taking these. I experienced severe bloating. I drank water slowly, as well as sparkling water, hoping to tamp down the nausea. I laid down for ten minutes but needed to race to the bathroom with terrible diarrhea, followed by four vomiting episodes a few minutes later. This all came on within 30 minutes of taking these caplets with food and water. Ninety minutes later and I still have stomach aches, bloating, diarrhea. I took two at the same time. That could be the reason I’m so ill, but I will report this to my doctor and never take them again. Whether these are effective, I’ll never know."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "Have been taking AREDS2 for over three years. One pill twice a day with a meal. My left eye is wet AMD, and the doctor told me, and what I read was that AREDS2 will not help wet AMD. My right eye is dry and has remained dry with these pills. Never had any bad side effects, but I follow the directions too. Very pleased."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took my first dose an hour ago, felt nauseous within 30 minutes and was vomiting ten minutes later. I have vomited five times in the first hour. It was scary because the gel cap and its contents are red, so my first thought was that I was vomiting blood (I wasn’t). Now I am sitting here wondering when this will end and whether or not I should be trying to drink lots of water to flush it out of my system or encourage more vomiting to get it all out. The level of vitamin E is no higher than vitamin E doses that I have taken in the past. It could be the night dose of zinc, or maybe just a reaction to the marigold or other ingredient in their product. I am also wishing I hadn’t bought the 210 count bottle. It’s only 7 pm, but it feels like this is going to be a long night. Hoping the nausea passes soon."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "My doctor recommended this eye supplement to protect my eyes from the beginnings of macular degeneration, which is currently stable. I take one tablet with breakfast and one with dinner and have done so for about one month. Well, I haven’t been sleeping soundly since taking these red pills. I’ll sleep for two or three hours and then need to use the bathroom, and then two or three more hours of sleep, etc. I’m glad I found others on this site with sleep issues due to the red pill! I’m going to stop taking it."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I began taking these as directed on the box. Have had this dull migraine ever since. Migraine is dull because I've been taking my Nurtec for it. Nurtec normally kicks my migraines' butt, but when it didn't, I began to wonder if it was these supplements. So glad I came across this site! I now know it was being caused by a reaction to the AREDS 2. The nausea wasn't from my migraine, as I had thought too. It was from this supplement. So thankful for everyone who has shared their experiences here, as it is preventing me from the continued misery being caused by this supplement. If I hadn't come across this site & thread, I would have continued thinking my body either needed to adjust to the supplement or was experiencing an out-of-the-normal migraine episode."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I was taking 25 mg JANUVIA (for blood sugar). It is a small amount, but I verified on the second day that my sugar was high, 195, and no food. I think Centrum Silver interacts with the Januvia. Be very careful if you are taking pills for sugar or blood pressure."

My research tells me that the vast majority of postmenopausal women don't need extra iron. This vitamin supplement in Dallas, TX, United States (DFW-Dallas-Fort Worth Intl.) marketed to women over 50. My Dr. advised me to stop taking any vitamin supplement that contains iron. I plan to switch back to One A Day /50, which has no iron in it."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I was prescribed AREDS2 by a retina therapist. Said to take any brand. I chose Preservision AREDS2 as I heard it was the best. Well, after I started taking it the first day, I felt extremely nauseous, very shaky, diarrhea, blurred vision. I kept taking my 1 in the am & 1 in pm with food and did it for 5 days and just became sicker & sicker. It was so bad. So, I stopped taking it and am having a terrible time getting it out of my system and it's been 3 days and still sick. I am staying very hydrated. I saw my eye doctor, and he said to stay off it and that it should be out of my system in 5 days. This stuff is extremely high in Zinc, 40 mgs per capsule, so taking 2, you are getting 80 mg of Zinc, which is way too much, especially for me as I only weigh 98 lbs and am a small woman. That’s way too much Zinc for me. Even 1 capsule of 40 mgs of Zinc is way too much! So, I attribute the huge amounts of Zinc to causing me to get so sick. I have read reviews stating that the Zinc dosage was way too high. I'll try one that has only 12.5 mg."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I have been taking 2 pills a day for one year. I have had severe muscle weakness, and I didn't think it was from the pills until I was reordering online at CVS and I happened to read someone's side effect, which mimics mine. I immediately stopped taking them three days ago. I am hoping to regain my muscular strength. I don't advise anyone to take this. Serious side effects."

For Vitamin/Mineral Supplementation and Deficiency "I took this for macular degeneration, and I would feel awful after taking just one AREDS 2. Stomach aches and pains, couldn't function for about 90 minutes. So, I began taking the pill with food. That helped. But, after about three weeks, I was getting acid reflux. I thought it was orange juice, thought it was tomatoes. I eliminated both of those foods, and yet I still had the acid reflux. And it was getting serious, waking me up at night. I believe it was the AREDS 2. I have stopped taking it and will not go back. The company states that it helped 25% with the 'risk' of macular degeneration. Not worth it to me."
