Moxifloxacin "I took a second pill and had a severe reaction to it in less than 25 minutes. It started with nausea, hives, extremely dizzy and lightheaded, slurred speech, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat and rise in blood pressure and heart rate, severe anxiety and weakness."

Moxifloxacin "I had a severe allergic reaction within 1 1/2 hours of taking my first dose. Pounding heartbeat, redness, and fainted for the first time in 57 years of life. I was rushed to the hospital and given steroids and Benadryl to counteract the effects. My blood pressure dropped from a normal 135/80 to 90/45."

Moxifloxacin "My experience is that I experienced arthritic symptoms in my joints. In particular, my top finger joints where red knobs appeared, and I experienced pain and sometimes itching. I also experienced pain in my Achilles tendon and weakness in legs."

Moxifloxacin "This is only the second day I have been on it, and I already notice a tremendous improvement. I took my first dose yesterday afternoon, and when I woke up this morning, I could tell my ears felt much better, as did the never-ending sinus headache. No bad side effects for me so far, and they would have to be very bad for me to quit taking this! Finally, relief!"

Moxifloxacin "Only took 1 dose so far, but already feeling better. Had bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infection for a month. Saw the doctor yesterday and diagnosed me with a sinus infection. Avelox 400mg 1/day would have been the highest tier on my copay, so she gave me a full 10 days with samples. Worked amazingly well, though I felt really sleepy the first hour. Could very well be that I'm SICK, not reacting. I'm allergic to other antibiotics (rash/hives), so this was a relief. MAKE NOTE OF THE MANY FOODS/DRUGS TO AVOID WHILE ON THIS. Others have posted their use of vitamins with it, but it clearly states to avoid them."

Moxifloxacin "I suffer from sinus/ear infections at least 2-3 times a year. My doctor first prescribed Augmentin, but this only made my symptoms worse. After feeling miserable for 2 weeks, my doctor then prescribed Avelox. Besides the jitteriness, rapid heart rate, and anxiousness, it worked wonders. This medicine cures symptoms quickly, but does have side effects. Everyone is different, so be aware of your body and let your doctor know if you're uncomfortable."

Moxifloxacin "My brother took this and felt very anxious, my only side effect is feeling super tired and kind of out of it. It really helped my cough, and I think it is starting to help with my chronic sinus infection. I am allergic to Levaquin, so I was nervous taking it since it is in the same drug family. I did not have the same reactions that I had when I was taking Levaquin. I have had five sinus infections in the past six months, and the Z-pac has quit working... so overall things are getting better."

Moxifloxacin "It must be my body, but this medicine works within 30 minutes to an hour after ingestion. This is fast-acting per the information I researched. I only had a sinus infection in my left nostril, and it cleared up where I was able to breathe through my nose without an issue. I used to carry around tissue for this purpose. No side effects for me."

Moxifloxacin "Numb hands for an hour, severe headache, blurry vision, rash on my arms. And this was with my first dosage. Doctor didn't even ask to see what previous antibiotics worked for me in the past. He just gave me Avelox and prednisone and said, 'On your way.'"

Moxifloxacin "I have never reacted to an antibiotic, ever, in my whole life. Until now. Within 30 minutes of taking Avelox, I was experiencing nausea, sweats, shortness of breath, and heart flutters. I was so weak I had to be carried to bed. Then the vomiting started, it was short-lived but violent. It also has many NSAID contraindications, so be careful. Especially if your sinus infection is very painful, watch what you take. Glad to see it's worked for some, but for me."

Moxifloxacin "After the second dose of Avelox, I broke out in hives. This is unfortunate, because I felt a world of difference (better) within 6 hours of taking the initial dose. Now that I've got hives, I am back to another antibiotic, and I don't know if it will work as well."

Moxifloxacin "I hope people taking this have better luck than me. After the first dose, I felt funny, so I thought better eat with the 2nd dose. Well, I ended up in the ER, scared to death. Doc said my nerve endings were pulsating. Felt like a thousand plus bees in my chest area...never again!!!!!"

Moxifloxacin "I took one pill and had a severe allergic reaction to it in less than half an hour. It started with stomach pain, blood in the stool, rash, swelling, and shortness of breath. I had a seizure, my husband called the ambulance, and I ended up in the hospital. Scary experience, and I want to let everyone know how horrible this drug is."

Moxifloxacin "Awful side effects! I was fatigued, trembling, and experienced shortness of breath and tachycardia. I even started feeling knee pain after the second day of treatment. I couldn't sleep for three days and just had a mild improvement in my sinuses."

Moxifloxacin "Yes, it works! However, the side effects are horrible. Light-headed and majorly dizzy, to the point where I was very uncomfortable driving. This is the 2nd time I've used it and the same results each time. Caused me to call out of work for a whole week until the side effects were gone."

Moxifloxacin "Had a double ear and sinus infection that didn't clear up with a round of antibiotics, went back to the walk-in and was prescribed Avelox. Scariest side effects EVER. After about 30 minutes, I felt a cold wave hit me in my stomach, I felt dizzy, lost feeling in most of the left side of my body, developed rashes and purple splotches all over my upper chest area, had trouble breathing, became hypertensive, and ended up with slurred speech and was in and out of consciousness until medical help arrived. Very scary. And that was just the first pill..."

Moxifloxacin "Have had 2 sinus surgeries in the past 5 years. This is the first sinus infection since my last surgery (2 months of sinus infection), and I just started Avelox yesterday. So far, not much of a side effect, have some nausea (but that sure beats another surgery). Good luck, all."

Moxifloxacin "The only problem I have with this medication so far is how expensive it is. So far, the only side effects I have had are a light-headed feeling, similar to a feeling of an antihistamine with pseudoephedrine in the mix. I am already starting to feel better."

Moxifloxacin "I have never seen an antibiotic work as quickly as this one did. It seemed to work faster than any over-the-counter decongestant. I really had no side effects that I know of, aside from perhaps a bit of sleeplessness the first night or two. I avoided caffeine while using this drug for that reason. My only concern was the $245 doctor visit for about a 3.5-minute visit with the doctor. I have no insurance, so well, maybe it wasn't so bad as I probably would have had to have paid that much per month for six years before the insurance company covered $50 of that visit! Anyway, no matter, it was worth it, and I will just send them money little by little to pay them off. At least they let the bill get billed to me. Avelox was a 'free' sample!"

"I am on day 6 of a 7-day course of Avelox. My chest has cleared up, but my sinus pain continues. I have quite severe side effects, though... lowered heart rate, dry mouth, and cold hands and feet for about an hour post. Also, nausea on and off. Extreme tiredness, mental confusion, some mood changes, and irritability. These symptoms do get better, however, as the day goes on."

"It is my third day taking moxifloxacin, and the truth is that it is a very strong medicine. But on the second dose, I was able to breathe much better, but the pain that it caused me in my back was unbearable. My treatment is for 14 days, and the truth is I don't know if I can continue it."

"My doctor prescribed me this medication because after a different round of antibiotics I still was not feeling better. I took 1 dose of this drug at 6 pm and within an hour my legs and arms were numb. I felt like I was having panic attacks with my heart racing, plus I was unable to sleep. It lasted for about 15 hours. During the morning after through about early afternoon, I was still feeling very anxious but completely exhausted from not sleeping, and I was in a complete fog. All I kept thinking to myself is when are these side effects going to end! I am not even thinking about taking the 2nd pill! Do not take this medication! The side effects are very dangerous!"

Moxifloxacin "Thank you all for the heads up on 'taking the medication with food!' My bottle didn’t come with that label, and the Avelox, along with the side effects, has been many and terrible on my stomach, head, and body. I am on day 9 of a 15-day dose for sinusitis (and previously had pneumonia)...and wasn’t aware of the numerous side effects until now. Was about to quit taking the med due to the long list of brutal adverse reactions, yet will implement the 'eat before taking' concept and hope to triumph through, as they have made a huge difference in my upper and lower respiratory issues. And with any luck, there will be no after effects of the side effects!"

"This is the third round of antibiotics for an ongoing sinus infection. I am on day 16 and have 5 days left. I have not had any of the side effects mentioned in the other posts. I do take it before bed, so that may be why. I have had a sore throat for 7 months, and the day after taking my first pill, it went away. I am suffering from major weight gain the past 7 days, which is brutal. Just over 10 lbs. Hoping once my treatment is complete, the weight goes away."

Moxifloxacin "After years of sinus infections, my germs sneer at the usual antibiotics. Augmentin and Ceftin do nothing, in fact, I got more sick every day on Ceftin. Avelox has been the magic bullet for me, and I really don't have any side effects. This doesn't mean someone out there won't be allergic to it, but I am not. Relief begins within hours of the first dose."
