"Modafinil really didn't do anything at all for me. First of all, if I take it every day after only 2 days, it'll lose all of its positive effects. I should take it like once a week. For a while, it gives me some energy, after 3 or 4 hours, I get even more exhausted than before."

"I take 400 mg daily as I suffer from hypersomnia. No effect at all on 100 mg or 200 mg. Helps slightly while I am busy or stimulated, but can still go to sleep at any moment after taking these pills. Undecided if I should continue."

"I thought it would be stronger. It does help keep my brain active. I am in early treatment, so I am not taking the full dosage (200 mg/day), only half for the first week. No noticeable side effects. I am looking forward to a more active future life. My condition is MS."

"My neurologist prescribed this medication to help with fatigue related to MS. I take 200 mg. Some days it seems to help keep me awake, but other days there is no difference. I don’t take it every day because it isn’t very effective for me. No side effects."

"After being diagnosed with schizophrenia at 22, I ended up going to four inpatient hospitals to get on the right medicine. After being discharged from the 4th hospital, I woke up the next morning and felt like a different person. The feeling was horrible and it lasted an entire year until I got on modafinil. I tried many antidepressants that did not work. My doctor prescribed me modafinil, and within two days I felt normal again."

"I heard so much about the drug modafinil, that it is used by students to improve alertness, understanding, endurance, and blah blah blah all over the net. But it ruins up your comprehension... Period! You might end up munching too much text, but you understand ZERO (though while reading you might FEEL that you are GETTING everything you are reading, but believe me, it's just a FEELING) and retain a big fat ZERO in your brain. At the end of the day, if asked 10 questions, you won't even remember whether you read it actually! It ruins your studying BIG TIME! I have been experimenting myself with modafinil for a very long time, and it's a NO GO for me, and I wonder if it will do any different for any other person in the world too. It has FAILED me big time. Also, not to forget the respiratory flu-like illnesses you will experience while on this medication. If at all, it's just helpful for no-brainer activities that don't involve intellect. DON'T take this with a PINCH OF SALT!"

"I just started taking 100 mg prescribed for MS fatigue. Today is my second day, and I didn't notice anything other than an increase in fatigue. Not sure what's going on. I'm sad this hasn't helped me at all. Should I give it time? Others said they felt improvement immediately, but I'm more tired than before and can hardly move."

"It has been the most useless medication I've ever taken regarding fatigue. At least, Adderall and Ritalin worked the same way for a couple of weeks, generating energy. Just the first time, I felt more energetic for only 3 or 4 hours, and the major problem with this med is that all of a sudden, it puts you down, giving you a type of fatigue that now it's worse than before. The dosage isn't important at all with this med. I'm a researcher, and it's the first med I've come across and taken that 200 mg is no different than 600 mg. Even for some people, a higher dosage makes them feel so lethargic and depressed. There are people out there who take medications like antidepressants that make them feel so lethargic during the day, and 100 mg of this med doesn't, or, in better words, can't counteract. I'm on Seroquel, which makes me so exhausted both mentally and physically, and this 'magical med' couldn't counteract the fatigue-induced part even a bit."

"Actually, the times when I don't take any modafinil, I have more energy and can easily stay up all night. Modafinil only gives me a sudden surge of mental and maybe physical energy for around half an hour. Then, I become lethargic and down."

"Modafinil has been the most expensive, the most overrated, and yet the most unusual medication I've ever taken. The first time, you're on cloud nine, and it made me so talkative. But later on, I became depressed for no reason, I became exhausted, and I didn't have any interest in doing anything at all. It releases dopamine and serotonin, but it increases the histamine level in your system, and after a couple of hours, it gave me too many side effects, both physical and emotional. It's not safe at all. If you take more than a certain amount, it will have paradoxical effects. The other times, it just gave me side effects and numbed all of my feelings and emotions."
