For Bacterial Infection "My NP put me on a regime of Flagyl 500mg twice a day for 7 days for urinary symptoms I was having although my cultures were negative. I followed the regime for 5 days before finally stopping. My side effects were severe and had me ready to go to the ER. Stomach and pelvic cramping, continual discharge, complete loss of appetite, extreme nausea when attempting to force myself to eat solid food and general nausea when not eating. I felt extremely fatigued, emotional and anxious. I was on the verge of several full blown panic attacks at work. I'm not sure if my symptoms are taken care of by Flagyl because the side effects are so much worse. Day 2 off of the drug and having the most severe side effects yet."

For Diverticulitis "The side effects of taking Flagyl are not pleasant but they're worth it as this antibiotic certainly seems effective in relieving sporadic attacks of diverticulitis. I have been prescribed it along with Chephalexin for maximum efficacy. As stated elsewhere, do not go near alcohol during medication, ie: consider yourself on the wagon for the duration of treatment! Finding the right diet (which for me includes no wheat) seems critical in controlling the disease."

For Diverticulitis "I went to ER with acute diverticulitis and was prescribed Metronidazole along with Cipro and pain pills. I was administered a couple pain shots and thought I could go home and take these meds and get better. Three days later I was back in the ER and let them admit me this time. The terrible headaches, horrific taste in my mouth, nausea and vomiting was about more than I could bare. I have had sleeve surgery and so my stomach is small, but this gave me such bad heartburn and indigestion, I could not imaging a medicine making a person this sick. I, also, had diarrhea with every bathroom trip and very dark urine. I couldn't even stand the taste of water or the food I ate tasted horrible along with a lack of appetite, lethargy, and light headedness. I finished my prescription of ten days, but I hope I never have to take this horrible drug again. One good thing about it is my diverticulitis pain is gone, and I pray it will never return."

For Bacterial Infection "I had a vaginal infection, and was prescribed Flagyl to cure it. I hated the immediate awful taste in the mouth, and it dissolved immediately upon hitting my tongue. I only experienced the awful taste and some slight stomach upset as side effects. The infection began to clear up after 3 days of a 7 day prescription. I recommend it, and drink something fruity with it. Also, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL AT ALL while on this medication, OR FOR 3 DAYS AFTER YOU STOP TAKING IT. You WILL have severe vomiting, heaving and dizziness."

For Bacterial Infection "This antibiotic was the worst possible one I had to take! Anyone saying there are no side effects with this medicine is one of the lucky ones. This drug damages your digestive system, it tastes nasty, you have that taste all day come back up. I didn’t sleep well, and it affected the way I was breathing. Outside of that, it gave me yeast infection on my tongue. I’d never take this drug ever again! This drug cause more harm than good. If you need an antibiotic, find a functional dr. Natural medicine has been around for years and it works."

For Trichomoniasis "The first time they gave me Flagyl in 4 pills to take all at the same time. It worked great and I cleared up. The second I was given the same 4 pill dosage and the symptoms cleared up for about a week until I got my period, then the discharge, smell and itching came back with a vengeance. So back to the doctor I went and this time they gave me Tindamax."

For Bacterial Infection "Will never take this medicine Flagyl again. The first day I started with a headache. Then came the lack of appetite and nausea which caused me to lose 3 pounds. Next was feeling tingly in my hands and full out panic, anxiety and depression. I called my doctor BEGGING to get off of this medication. Thankfully I just took my last dose. I will never take this again."

For Bacterial Infection "Prescribed this medicine for an infection I got after I getting an IUD inserted. 500mg metronidazole Twice a day. Took then at 8am Day one. No issues Day two. Up at 4am had symptoms of bloating, stomach gurgling, cramps, explosive diarrhea, extremely liquid stool, pain. All subsided by 11 am next day. Day three. Up at 1am. Bloating, stomach gurgling, doubled from night before. I had cramps, diarrhea but not as bad as night before and I swore that I was done with this Medicine. Drank a probiotic yogurt and it’s been a while 20 minutes with no gurgling ....nope I was wrong. Here we go again....."

For Bacterial Infection "Was prescribed Flagyl for Diverticulitis. All I can say is that I had to stop this medication after 6 days. My side effects included: numbness and tingling of my hands, dark urine, high anxiety, headaches, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, and difficulty sleeping. My dosage was 2x250mg tabs three times a day. I am in my 60's and without a doubt this is the medication that has given me the most side effects."

For Bacterial Infection "Not for me... I was given a 5 day course, 1 tablet twice a day. I took the first one and within 10 minutes felt my chest was getting tight, just tried to see it through, 2 hours later I have the paramedics out because I can't breathe, wheezing, chest tight, dry mouth, uncontrollable sickness, I couldn't move I was so weak, high heart rate. Was horrid! Needless to say I didn't take another and have now developed an anxiety to taking new medications. Shame really as the infection itself did feel better the next morning after all this had happened."

For Dental Abscess "Was reluctant to take this has read reviews and was going on holiday. But weighed up either bad toothache or risk side effects. No effects what so ever. Shifted my toothache. But didn't risk alcohol at all. Was bit itchy but nothing bad. Would take again if had too."

For Bacterial Infection "I'm shocked at how many people say the pill taste awful. I had the mega dosage (4 pills at once) and I just took a big sip of fruit punch, dropped the pill in the back of my throat and swallowed. Tasted nothing. You guys must be sucking them like peppermints. As far a symptoms, barely any. I did get a lil nausea here and there but no big deal. Pills seemed to work almost immediately."

For Diverticulitis "Oh, man,am I ever sick....yes, the lower abd pain is getting better, but! I am on methotrexate and am having blood in my stools...I didn't see anyone else mention that....so, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, but I guess I'll try to contact my doc and see what he says...I'm on day three almost...if I take it tonight???!! I was prescribed cipro and flagyl in the ER for acute diverticulitis."

For Dental Abscess "Caught a bacterial infection from daughter visiting from Japan August 2016. Could not get well. Unknowingly had a dental abcess that made me even more ill. Did some research and found flagyl with Augmentin had helped others. Got dental problems addressed and took 21 days of flagyl 500 mg x 2 daily with Augmentin 875 mg x 2 daily. Got well. Had to have more invasive dental work and am currently taking 21 day course of flagyl 1000 mg x 2 daily with 875 mg Augmentin x2 daily to head off infection recurring. If you have been ill and given up hope, try this combo. Yep it's a lot of antibiotics but I was quite sick and it helped me. I was infection free at time of last dental work but taking this as a preventive course."

For Bacterial Infection "My doctor gave me this because I had bacterial vaginosis. Not even 12 hours in to my first dose, I got the metallic taste in my mouth, then severe stomach cramps and nausea. I'm on day 5 and have had bouts of nausea throughout the course of my medication. My appetite has gone way, way down and I'm SO tired! I literally will sleep 12 hours and then get up for 2 then go back to bed for another 4! Having trouble staying awake at work, but it is doing its job! "

For Trichomoniasis "I first got prescribed 4 Flagyl 500 mg pills to take at once for trichomoniasis. It took away the burning and itching and I seen a decrease in discharge. However; I still have burning when peeing. I now got prescribed a second dose of Flagyl but this time it’s a 7 day dosage of 500 mg pills twice a day. I Have taken 2 day’s of this new dosage and my discharge is even better but still burning when urinating. I am hoping this medicine cures the Trichomoniasis."

For Bacterial Infection "Was given instructions to take this Flagyl twice a day for 7 days , every 12 hours for BV ( bacterial Vaginitis ) . First day I had a slight headache, second day of taking it symptoms of BV were gone ! No smell , discharge but I had a backache which wasn’t too bad. Still taking it to finish up treatment. But I give it 9/10 because the medicine taste HORRIBLE! Take with food or thick liquids to avoid the taste."

For Diverticulitis "I had side effects from these drugs but found when I did not take them at the same time it wasn't as bad. In States where it's legal, THC help with the diverticulitis as well as the side effects of flagyl and cipro."

For Diverticulitis "WOW, cipro and flagyl drain your entire body. I have fought with diverticulitis off and on since age 37 and I am now age 45. I have gone 2 years since my last bout with diverticulitis. At first I hated the drugs and quit after 2-3 days - only for the pain to come back within a month. So I quickly learned to stay the course of the drugs, then I learned to monitor my diet better because my eating habits was the culprit. When I was 43, I had a flare up from diverticulitis, since I was used to the symptoms I drank a lot of water and tried to get by the pain, not a good idea man that diverticulitis spread through my urine tract, then to my liver...all because I didn’t want to take the medication...probably the worse episode"

For Bacterial Infection "I was given this medication after the doctor discovered a very serious bacterial infection. The doctor said I must have had it for a very long time. Yeah. At least 3 years. I felt like I was dying from the inside out. I feel like the doctor AND this medication saved my life. The medication worked fabulously! I had no problems whatsoever. No side effects. I didn't even notice the taste! (I swallowed them quickly!) I highly recommend this medication."

For Dental Abscess "For a few years I have had this horrid smell coming from under my crown. I have had dental care from my dentist but the smell would persist. My dentist said he didn't notice an abscess but I told him that fluid was leaking from under the crown as well. I tried amoxicillin for 14 days (two seperate runs) and it calmed the smell down some but once I stopped the med, the smell came back full force. I am about to finish flagyl and I don't notice the smell at all. This is great, taste like crap but it works."

For Giardiasis "I took Flagyl and Cipro for giardia and salmonella diagnosis. Both taken for one week. The Flagyl has a terrible taste and you have to drink something besides water while you are taking it because everything tastes metallic. It works to eradicate the infection but I was very happy when the seven days of treatment was over. I also experienced lack of appetite however you must eat something when you take Flagyl or it will upset your stomach. Other side effects experienced: bloating, burping, hiccups, terrible taste in my mouth all the time, lack of energy. But the need for the medication outweighs the side effects and it took care of the infection."

For Diverticulitis "I was told not to use drink alcohol with Flagyl, of course, but I also found I cannot use Purell (ethanol-based) or isopropyl rubbing alcohol with it. These led to terrible stomach pain and headache. One pharmacist told me this couldn't happen, not enough alcohol would get in, but another said Yes, it happens, and some people even have a reaction to alcohol in the slight fumes you get while pumping gasoline that includes alcohol. When I avoid Purell and isopropyl, I don't get those severe stomach pains."

For Bacterial Infection "Everyone's body will react differently to meds, genetics. Just bc I had a bad experience, doesn't mean you will. Took w full stomach of bland food, 16 oz water, & took a daily probiotic. My experience w this med was horrible. I was unbearably anxious, rapid heartbeat, intense pelvic pressure, bad stomach cramping, nonstop nausea, vomiting, & explosive diarrhea. This was my 2nd time w this med,w the same bad reaction. I had to discontinue, both times. Took 3 days to start feeling better, 5-7 until normal. I'll never take this med again. I'm sure it's good for others, but nit me. I had cancer so I've taken a lot of meds. Never had to stop another med from side effects before, but I was scared to the point of going to the er. Never again."

For Bacterial Infection "Flagyl also ruined my life. I was healthy and now I have panic attacks and muscle weakness. Only took 2 days worth but three weeks later still feeling like someone else. Dizziness and nausea. Be careful with this."
