"I have been suffering with burning that I would rate at its worst a 10. I have been to the doctor 9 times in the last 4 months for the same symptoms and prescribed several creams, hormonal creams, etc. (I believe it caused the BV). I told anyone who would listen to me that I had an infection. I was told it was menopause and I would be fine. Finally, and happily diagnosed with BV. Took a round of Metrogel for 5 nights, and 48 hours later symptoms returned. Again, diagnosed with BV. I am now on my 2nd dose of 5 nights. For me, it's difficult to say if the Metrogel is causing the burning or because it is an antibiotic, may cause burning in the vulva/vaginal area but should subside. After this round, if it should return, my gynecologist suggested that I try (sounds weird) Boric Acid Suppositories. The Dr. said it is a natural product and has proven to put the vaginal pH balance back and cure it. I wanted to share this in case it is the simple cure."

Metronidazole topical "I had BV and a yeast infection and had no idea. I noticed something was wrong because I completely stopped getting discharge, and I used to have fertile, clear discharge and did not have it for months. After the first use, the BV smell was completely gone, and I could tell that my vagina was cleansing itself again. Lots of discharge (white and clear). I feel better already. I'm also taking probiotics with it and will take a yeast infection antibiotic after I finish the gel. I eat healthy and try to stay very clean down there, so not sure how I got it. But I've had it off and on over the past few years. 29 y/o."

Metronidazole topical "I used this gel after being scared about reviews. I have lots of anxiety about certain meds due to side effects. I finally decided to give it a try. I had some side effects like minor stomach pain, but I do have IBS. This was the only side effect I had. No nausea, no headaches, etc. I do have white clumpy discharge, which is a common side effect of this med. Other than that, I'm okay! I just finished the treatment yesterday. I will update once the white clumpy discharge clears. Give this a try, guys!"

Metronidazole topical "I will have to give the MetroGel a 10 out of 10, simply because it worked exactly as intended and cleared up BV probably within the first two days, but I finished the 5-day course and everything is brand new and healthy. Yes, it had side effects and fortunately not nearly as extreme as some other users. Mine were: a bit of a crampy feeling starting around day 4, some of the gel coming out from down there in this thick, clearish ooze with a tinge of pink here and there (probably some kind of tissue or blood), but not enough to alarm me, starting around day 3 and usually at night. Day 5 was the worst, I had a really dull, constant cramp feeling overnight, and it went away within 24 hours since there were no more doses left. Other overall symptom was a bit of a loss of appetite, which is whatever. I read a lot of reviews, and to avoid any yeast infections or some other imbalances, I started a probiotic targeting vaginal health immediately on day 6."

Metronidazole topical "Same deal as one of the other girls, was tested for UTI symptoms, cultured twice with no growth, but positive for BV, have done 2 nights of the gel so far, have experienced lack of appetite, bloating feeling, and cramps, hope it ends soon."

"I’ve been waiting to share my experience, so here I am. First of all, I had the metronidazole gel just sitting in my dresser for at least 3 months, terrified because of the reviews I read, like literally I was just gonna accept it hoping it was going to go away (I read them ALL, by the way). Anyways, I finally got sick of dealing with BV, the smell was terrible some days, like I could smell it through my pants, it was so embarrassing. I finally got the courage one night after a nice hot shower to start the five-day process. My only and ONLY side effects were headaches and a little nauseous. My first day, the smell was completely gone, I had no chunky white discharge. I noticed very tiny cramps (no pain). The tube was a tad bit painful to get up there. But that was it. To all the ladies suffering with BV, take the gel!!! It works!! Don’t let the bad experiences control you."

"I’ve had many recurrences from bacterial vaginitis (BV), and it usually happens after sex or after I get my period. Extremely annoying, and the pills prescribed for it make me feel horrible, and I don’t even want to get out of bed on those days. I just tried the gel, and I honestly love it so far. Very mild cramping, but my period is also around the corner, and I have had no issues besides my vagina seeming a little swelled whenever I insert or afterwards, which is kind of expected. The gel is clear, and it isn’t anything crazy to clean or any of that. Highly recommend if you don’t like taking the pills."

Metronidazole topical "This is an August update from when I gave a review on 17 June 2019. After using the MetroGel, I went to get another swab and was still positive for BV. I would say the gel did help about 90%, only because I’m still experiencing the same discharge as before, just a lot less. I had a feeling I would end up using the gel, then have to take the pills after. I would suggest skipping the gel and just taking the pills. I’m confident these will clear the BV so I can get a pap smear after. I’ve birthed a baby, so all these swabs and side effects from medicine are nothing to worry about. I just want to get it over with... the joys of being a woman, lol."

Metronidazole topical "Started the gel 3 days ago, had my wisdom teeth out 2 days before I got the gel for BV. My stomach started hurting and I thought maybe because I haven’t pooped since the pain pills backed me up. Pooped yesterday but had very bad pelvic cramps last night and stomach pain all day today. Also have a runny nose and cough. The stomach cramps hurt really bad, but the gel worked the first application. I do like it, but the side effects are awful. I just push through the pain."

Metronidazole topical "I’ve used this medication twice. Once when I was around 19, and once now at 23. I don’t remember having side effects the first time, but this time I’ve got immediate intense bloating, cramping, and nausea. I’ve never felt this uncomfortable before, even during menstruation. I can’t attest to the effectiveness because both this time and last time I didn’t feel any symptoms of BV to start with, which just makes these side effects worse knowing they’re not going to lead to some kind of relief."

Metronidazole topical "Very painful BV infection, so I got tested and was prescribed MetroGel-Vaginal for 7 days. I accidentally had alcohol during a family dinner and felt horrible and super bloated after and wanted to puke. The discharge and smell are horrible! Very white, clumpy discharge and strong urine smell. This is natural and just your body getting rid of the nastiness. Nothing about this is pleasant, but it is what it is."

"First off, I usually view the reviews of all the medications I take so I know what to prepare for. Reading these reviews for metronidazole spiked my anxiety to the MAX. I had suspicions I had an infection as there was an awful odor down there after I would have sex, and I would just smell not pleasant, so I made an appointment to see my doctor. Screening indicated I had BV. My doctor prescribed the cream, and I am so glad she did. I have a very sensitive stomach, so every little thing makes me nauseous. I am on my second night of this cream, and so far, so good! I don't know if the minor side effects (fatigue, light nausea) were just me since I work long days, or if it was the medication, but it seems to do the job! There was a little cottage cheese discharge throughout the day, but not heavy (maybe start of vag YI as well)! No smell at all or itchiness! I will be taking probiotics every day or every other day to help me avoid getting a yeast infection with this medication. I will further update you all!"

"I was diagnosed with BV and recently prescribed metronidazole gel. After just 1 application, I became extremely sick! Started with extreme bloating and nausea, and dizziness during the day... by the end of the night, I had started coughing and having a sore throat. Did not sleep the entire night, was coughing violently all night into the next day, all day and night again the next. The second night, (I had already stopped the medicine the night before) I had excruciating body pain, the shakes, and extreme hot and cold flashes. Took all I had not to rush myself to the hospital! Literally thought I was going to die... I had never been so extremely hot before in my life! Needless to say, I beg of anyone DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE!!!! SO not worth it... terrifying experience!"

"The metro gel works for active BV to an extent, but it really is not a cure, and I don't think it is good for me. I finally came across a real solution, which is a very specific probiotic called Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus reuteri. Some people use it in combination with the metro gel. It actually worked. Look it up!"

Metronidazole topical "Originally I was prescribed 0.75% gel for 5 days nightly. My bacterial vaginosis did not go away. I was prescribed another 0.75% gel for 5 days. The infection was gone but I got a yeast infection. I was prescribed Diflucan. It has been 45 days and I still have a yeast infection. This medication works, but it destroyed my vaginal flora. Anytime I take this, my vaginal flora is completely destroyed for 60 days easily. If you can handle that possibility, go ahead and take it. I prefer using boric acid, vitamin C, and zinc."

Metronidazole topical "I completed my 7 days. The first day I did get a fast heartbeat, but maybe it was my anxiety, so when that happened, I just lay down and relaxed and let it pass. But after that, the rest of the 6 days I just had nausea/upset tummy, but besides that, everything was good. I was worried I wasn't gonna get my period, but after the treatment, I got my period on time, so don't worry, the treatment doesn't mess up period schedule."

Metronidazole topical "1st day fine. 2nd day it made me so sick. Severe stomach cramps, and I mean severe. Nausea, dizziness, headache, racing heart, backache, weakness, and fatigue. I haven't used it for 2 days, and most symptoms have cleared, but the stomach cramps and fatigue are still very painful. MD said to go to emergency for stomach pain, but it's an hour + drive, so I opted to try to sleep it off. Since it's still ongoing, I'll be seeing my MD tomorrow. I will never take this again!"

"I've had BV a few times, usually after I sleep with a new partner. Every time I have been on this medication, it works like a charm. I am on day 3/7, and I noticed yesterday all symptoms are completely gone. I've had the cream in the past and would say I prefer the pills. Just less messy. Also, no bad side effects for me! I've been taking them with food and probiotics and have felt fine. I've refrained from alcohol as recommended. Very happy with this treatment."

"AVOID THIS MEDICATION AT ALL COSTS. I was diagnosed with mild BV, and I inserted 5g into my vagina. Within 5 minutes, I felt extremely weird, my face was flushed. My head was pulsating, I had a weird taste on my tongue, and my body went all tingly. I felt like the room was spinning, and I had to lay down. I was completely scared and having a panic attack and had to drink water and calm myself down. It nearly caused me a panic attack, my heart was beating so fast I literally thought I needed urgent medical help and almost called 999 until I read other people’s reviews on this. I will not touch this again, I have put it in the bin. It should be removed from the market."

"I was battling BV for about a month. I used the yoni pearls to balance my pH. Still didn’t work. I was prescribed metronidazole gel after ruling out any STDs. This is my 2nd day. The odor and discharge are gone already. I’m still going to complete the treatment, but it’s already working well. I think my pH was off from using the scented soaps down there, wearing tights, pants, etc. I’m having mild cramps as a side effect, that’s it."

Metronidazole topical "A few months ago, I had BV, and it was a moderate case. My symptoms were musty smell and discharge that would soak through my pants. I took the gel, and the discharge was mostly gone, and the smell was somewhat better. After about a month, my doctor said I still had BV, but it was mild (slight discharge, and I smelled like musty flowers). I thought the gel would make the smell go away. WRONG. After using the gel, I still have BV, and now I have a TREATMENT RESISTANT YEAST INFECTION. This made my life far worse and my self-esteem even worse than it was before. The only thing that worked for me in the past is probiotics. I opened one pill and put it where the sun don't shine and didn't get BV for a year until I had a new sex partner. However, they must have sold the company or something because now the same brand doesn't work anymore, and none of the other brands work either."

"I was prescribed Met gel, once a day, for 5 days, after several months battling BV and no success with any home remedies. I finished the meds yesterday, had zero side effects, and so far no sign of BV anymore. Like most women, my period seems to trigger my worst bouts of BV though, so I guess we'll see if these results actually last! Nothing has worked like this product as of yet though. So far, so good. I took probiotics while using this gel, in order to replace some good bacteria. Hoping to bypass the yeast infection that often comes from wiping all the bacteria from a woman's lady bits!"

"I’ve had BV now for 4 months. It keeps coming back - I’ve taken Flagyl pills (14 tablets, on a 7-day course at 1 tablet twice a dose), and I've done this 4 separate times, and it clears and comes right back. I’ve tried doxycycline hyclate, also another antibiotic, and that seemed to really work, but it’s back again, and now I’m on Metrogel for 6 months :-( sad to say, BV is so awful - now my gyno wants to check if something else may be wrong & nothing was wrong with me up until this crazy BV that won’t go away - she said also my good bacteria is completely stripped, and I need to rebuild bacteria because of all the antibiotics I’ve taken, which makes sense. I’ve tried so much & it is so frustrating - I itch, I burn so bad when I pee - I have no STDs. I just do not get it - & I’ve even tried boric acid, and it just made me break out in hives and have a lil blood come out."

"I'm 28 years old and have never had any issues down there other than a yeast infection, but I noticed I was having a lot of milky white, odorless discharge. I went in for a check-up just in case. The doctor said I have BV and prescribed the MetroGel. I'm on night 3, and I'm having huge clumps of thick white discharge, a light burning when I pee, and weakness. I feel like it could be causing a yeast infection as well. I'm on oral antibiotics for a UTI too, so I'm not sure which symptoms are from the gel."
