Methylnaltrexone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "It actually works! Look, I’ve been on opioids for nearly 13 years due to an accident involving 2 semi trucks. The OIC caused by the opioids is a real issue and can be fatal if not properly addressed. Relistor has made it possible for me to manage it and take more regular BM. The first time I had the shot in my stomach and within 20 minutes, I had bad cramps and gas. I barely made it home and side skirted to the toilet! I pooped weeks of the most awful crap. I could feel it breaking down in my intestines and moving through me. And I went until I had liquid coming out. It completely flushed me. It’s very dangerous for our systems to back up with feces. Don’t allow this to happen. While taking opioids, as this drug is only meant for this, keep regular doses going. Follow directions! Must be 30 mins before a meal. Or it won’t work immediately. Instead, you’ll find yourself waking in the middle of the night on the toilet several times. You won’t go just once. My experience, I go a few times."

Methylnaltrexone for Constipation, Drug Induced "I've been on a variety of pain meds since 2006 from a 92# tree limb falling on me and had become quite impacted and constipated because of them. After years of trying many, many different kinds of laxatives and eating plenty of fruits, my doctor finally asked me today (while refilling my Medtronic morphine pump) if I had ever tried this injection. He gave me a sample and told me to be close to a toilet, so I just now gave myself the injection, now that I'm home. So far, the only thing I'm feeling is activity in my stomach as if things will be happening soon... no bad cramps, headache, sweats... just motion in my stomach. It started almost immediately, and now half an hour has passed and I am still waiting... Will keep you posted..."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "Incredible drug when used for opioid-induced constipation (don’t expect it to do anything for constipation of other etiologies). I administered it multiple times, and the results were phenomenal. Usually, within 15 minutes, the problem was resolved."

For Opioid-Induced Constipation "MOVANTIK does work, however, the stools are very hard, large, painful, and difficult to pass. I take 1/4 cap of MiraLAX along with this drug to soften the stool and make them easier to pass. I hope this helps you as well."

Methylnaltrexone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "So I was injured in a car wreck in 2018, herniated a couple of disks in my back, and I also have an issue where my disks are disintegrating. So after the wreck, I was on pain pills for about 9 months, talked to my doctor because I was scared of being physically dependent on them. The doctor put me on Belbuca, started low, now up to 750 twice daily. Never had any issues going to the bathroom until all the pain meds. The doctor gave me a few samples of Relistor yesterday, took my first dose this morning, nothing yet. I hope it works eventually.... Was hoping for the 30-minute miracle, lol.."

Methylnaltrexone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I have been experiencing OIC and have been using every OTC and natural remedy available. The issue has been ongoing for several months. I took my first Relistor injection 5 hours ago without success. I added some suppositories, magnesium citrate, and a Fleet enema and expelled some gas and a few pellets of poop. Why have I not experienced, and what can I expect with another injection tomorrow? This problem is totally incapacitating."
