"I was taking Provera for 5 days. After my fifth day, my period came on a week later and has been on for a week. I wanted to know how long it would last. Before I had this, my cycle stayed on for 3 months, nonstop."

"Well, my period stopped for two months. And then came back on in Nov of last year and has been ever since with heavy flowing. My doctor prescribed Provera for 10 days, and after I was finished, it came back on and much more. So I'm trying Provera the second time and hope for the best."

"I had my tubes tied after my 4th child in November 2018, I got a light period by February. Then, on April 6, it was so heavy it lasted until April 21. My doctor did an ultrasound and found nothing wrong. I started bleeding heavily with large clots again on April 30, went to the ER, and was diagnosed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Was prescribed Provera. Today is my second day taking it (need to take it for 10 days). Anyway, I'm not sure if it’s working, as I am still bleeding really heavy with large clots. This has to be due to getting my tubes tied, as I’ve never had this before, and they did nothing wrong."

"I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 21, my periods are very irregular. Been to the gynae on July 27, 2020, since I hadn't gotten my period since December 2019. He prescribed Provera for 7 days, and I got my period about 3 days later, with lots of pain and a heavy flow. It did stop on day 7 of my period, though. Came August and September, my period came normally without the help of Provera. However, I didn't get it in October and November, and the pregnancy test was negative. So I decided to go see the doctor again, and yet again he prescribed Provera, but this time along with Fertomid (to be taken on days 3-7 of the period). I didn't get my period after 4 days of my last Provera pill. This time it was very light. So, as instructed, I took Fertomid on Day 3 of my period, and it's already Day 10, and I'm still bleeding. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it."

"I've had non-stop period for 37 days. Was put on ten days of Provera, slowed bleeding down. Finished meds, period became full-blown again. Went nine days, no relief, got back on meds for another ten days, day 6 seems to be slowing. Lo and behold, this afternoon full force bleeding, clots and all. I'm 62 years old, went two years with no periods, thought I was done but no, here we are worse than ever. I see OB/GYN on Monday, I pray for relief soon. Only pain is my right lower back will hurt, only in the afternoon, then it stops, I'm okay til the next afternoon. I took low oval pill from 21 to 52, hardly ever had a period, but surely making up for it now. I pray for all women going through this, get relief and fixed. I'm supposed to be done with this mess."

"I am 49 years old and have been experiencing missed periods for about a year and a half. Skipping months. Then in May, I started my period after not having one for two months. I bled for 10 days, so I saw my ObGyn. She put me on Provera to stop the bleeding and hopefully regulate me. I bled for the entire month in May!!!! I decided to follow my own mind and stop taking the medication, and three days later I stopped bleeding! Now I am back to my natural schedule of bleeding. So I’ve decided to let my body do what comes naturally and leave these experimental drugs alone!"

"In November 2013, I had surgery to remove a 10-pound fibroid tumor. Ever since then, I have had irregular periods. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years with no luck. I have multiple ovarian cysts that are causing sharp shooting pain. I was just put on Provera 10 mg for 6 days during days 16-21 last month. After the first day of taking it, I have been bleeding heavily; I have used a whole box of pads in less than 7 days of bleeding. I am used to having a 1-3 day period, so this sucks major."

"I'm 44. I have had symptoms of menorrhagia for several years now. I was hospitalized because my hemoglobin was 5, received a couple of blood transfusions and iron during that stay. I was then referred to an OBGYN who put me on Provera 10 mg twice a day. As I was about to start a period and already spotting, I noticed when I started Provera it stopped that, and it was fantastic. Well, it's now 2 weeks and 2 days after a D&C, and I'm bleeding pretty heavily with large size and numerous clots, and not cramps but pain and pressure. I kind of lost track of when my actual period should start, so I don't know if what I'm experiencing is the Provera trying to normalize my previously terrible periods because they were much worse than this. But this is still pretty bad. If I am having a period on Provera right now, it's not doing a whole lot for me anymore."

"I am here for my mom. She had been bleeding for 14 days before her OB recommended this drug. It stopped her bleeding right away, but the side effects on my mom are extreme. It's been more than 10 days since she started taking this drug, and ever since then, she's so weak she couldn't even stand. Her back is in pain, she's having trouble breathing and sleeping, drowsiness, headache, and she even lost her appetite. My mom couldn't write a review because she's currently admitted to the hospital. If this drug is good for you, then great, but my mom's experience is a nightmare."

"I was prescribed 10 mg of Provera daily beginning on December 16th to control a nine-month continuous menstrual bleed. It is now January 5th, and there are no signs of this nightmare ending. This drug has left me with side effects of anxiety, depression, exhaustion, heart palpitations, headaches, and of course still bleeding with clots the size of my fist! Doctors don’t return calls, and appointments aren’t available until over a month away! I’ve suffered far too long, and I’m about to give up. My quality of life is pretty low right now. I have an appointment with a new OB-GYN, so I’m hoping for answers and an end to this mess. Maybe I’ll be in bad enough shape for an emergency hysterectomy while I’m there. My career is about to end due to the inability to leave home without bleeding all over the place! I’m 49 years old, and I feel like I’ve wasted a year trapped in my home from this. This medication has been as useless."

"I am 31 and was diagnosed at 30 with PCOS, and until recently, I haven't had many issues with it. My periods were always irregular, so when I got them, it would be painful. On 09/08/15, I lost a pregnancy at 10 1/2 weeks. I have been seeing the same OB since I was 16, she had finally had enough knowing I badly wanted a baby. Well, since this loss to date 11/12/15, I have had a total of 12 days with no bleeding, so pretty much 3 months of severe heavy bleeding with clots. I went from having perfect iron levels to them being so low I'm on the verge of a blood transfusion. This week, I've upped my iron from 325 to 650 mg a day, and I am taking 10 mg of Provera every 8 hours. This is day two, and I'm happy to say I'm already seeing results. I hope it stays this way."

"Ok, I went on this 10 mg 2x a day for about 4 weeks now. I needed to start because I hemorrhaged so bad in a single day my hemoglobin dropped from 12 to 9, and then to 8 as I continued to hemorrhage for 2 weeks after. As a result of hemorrhaging, I could not breathe, my heart was racing from dehydration, and my body used all of my iron and ferritin, and then started destroying bone marrow to try and make hemoglobin. I started Provera when my hematologist started ferritin infusions and was afraid any bleeding would kill me. This medication causes me shortness of breath, a racing heart, rashes, lethargy, vomiting, muscle pain; oh, and I have been spotting since I started it! I feel worse than when I was literally dying before taking it."

"I was put on this pill to help with the thickening part, and I was put on this pill Oct 14, and I have been on this period since last Friday, and it will stop and go again. Last Saturday it stopped, and then I woke up Sunday to go to my boyfriend's work. It starts up again, and I am still having a medium size of blood clots. I was supposed to stop on the 15, and I started on the 8th of this month. Just being a little annoyed with the period. Planning on talking to my OB-GYN next month when I see him. Explain it all to him and trying to figure another way out or having a way where I don't have periods."

"I got a Novasure ablation 5 years ago because of the heavy bleeding and having to change pads and tampons every hour. The gush feeling after changing while conducting a 15 min. meeting was unbearable. The ablation was the best thing ever until... I started bleeding again. My Dr. put me on Provera 2x daily for 7 days following 1x daily for 7 days. One day passed after completing the prescription, and the heavy bleeding with huge clots, worse than prior to the ablation, along with severe cramping, similar to contractions, is making me regret ever taking this drug. I'm on day 3 of heavy bleeding, severe cramping, terrible bloating that I have never experienced before. I'm feeling discouraged reading that some women bled heavily for more than 2 wks."

"I had what I thought was going to be a normal period (my periods have always been heavy) until it just never stopped. It got so bad I had palm-sized clots and bleeding so bad I had to use cut-up towels with three pads. I made a trip to the ER, all blood work was normal. I already was taking 135 mg of iron and vitamin C, so I wasn't anemic even though I was bleeding so bad. They sent me home with a prescription of Provera 10 mg once a day. It slowed the bleeding down but never stopped it completely. I was referred to an endocrinologist. I'm due to have an ultrasound to check for fibroids, but I have to have an endometrial biopsy. I was still on Provera way past the 10 days, it caused shortness of breath and bad weight gain. I had to stop it."

"I spoke with my OBGYN and told her I'm getting off Provera. Don't want to take it for another day. I have been on it for about 4 months, and my period is still all over the place. I was informed that it would reduce my bleeding and the length of my period. That did not happen! My period came three weeks late on December 10th, and it is January 2nd, 2020, and I am still bleeding. I don't know when this thing will end. I'd rather go back to my heavy periods, but at least it will be over in 8 days!"

"I have had my period since I was 9 years old. I have always had heavy periods and have never been able to have kids. I was put on Provera 10 the first time, and I went insane. My mood changed so much my now ex-husband slept in the vehicle. This time I have been on my period from the end of May until the 3rd of July. I went to the OB-GYN to see if I could have a hysterectomy and had my hopes up. When they got the results back, there is nothing wrong with me, so no surgery and back on Provera 5 once a day. I've been on this med for a few weeks, and I stopped bleeding for about 2 weeks, and Sunday it went back to normal, huge clots messing up clothes and stabbing pain. So I hope this goes away soon. Good luck to y'all."

"I was prescribed Provera to take 10 mg for 14 days and then off for 14 days each month. I had abnormal uterine bleeding, which was due to having hyperplasia. This medication is supposed to thin out the uterine lining. The first time I took it, I had some cramping and spotting but never had a period. This second time around, I had some cramping with 2 days of a light to moderate flow, but nothing heavy. I'm still in my 14 days off on the second trial and have had no other bleeding besides the 2 days, so I am not sure if this medication is working or not for me, so I called the OB-GYN and she told me to continue with the medication, so I guess we will see. Has anyone else experienced it work like this before?"

"I have been bleeding for 7 1/2 weeks now. I saw an ob-gyn on my 5th week of bleeding, and I told him about my case. I have been having this problem since 2018. First, I didn't bleed for 2 months, then I had bleeding for 3 weeks, and so on. First, my ob in the Philippines gave me norethindrone to regulate my period. I took it for 10 days, then I had withdrawal bleeding after 3 days. I did 3 cycles of it, and it did regulate my period again. Then in 2020, it happened again. In 2021, it has gotten worse. I won't get my period for 3 months, then I will bleed for 1 month. And now is the longest. The ob prescribed this pill, and it hasn't stopped my bleeding. It's been 3 days since I finished taking it, and now it has gotten heavier. I don't know what to do now."

"I use Provera once a day for ten days. On the eighth day, I started getting pain, like if something was just scraping my uterus out. However, I haven't seen a period in six months (believe me, I was happy at that point in time). Now, TBH, the use of Provera in my case was to help with the shedding of the uterus, which has not happened for six months, so guys, just saying, pain is expected, also heavy bleeding. However, after seven days of bleeding, they put me on oral contraceptives, and the bleeding stopped two days after. However, prior to this, I also used Provera before; I was having breakthrough bleeding for nearly one year. TBH, it wasn't nice, but because of being at school, and time going to the hospital, it was just at the bottom of my list. I took Provera for ten days also."

"Honestly, just want to vent. I took Vitex in 2019. I had already had irregular periods but had a period every month or at least every other month. I googled, and this put me in a lot of trouble. Vitex even made it worse and did not regulate me. I was prescribed Provera because I had started bleeding very heavily for weeks, and it would not stop. I took Provera, and this stopped after the 10-day prescription but had heavy withdrawal bleeding for a week. I have since had Provera 3 times to start my period, my Gyno refuses to prescribe me something to help me ovulate. I am so frustrated, that word doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. I just want to have a child, and I am helpless. I do put on some weight, which is annoying. I had some hot flashes one of the months, but so far it does the job, I just wish my cycle would return to what it was. I would love that."

"I started taking this medication at the end of May after trying the birth control pill to stop my periods (I have anemia due to fibroids). I was taking two pills a day for 4 months of Provera. Over that time, it did decrease my flow, but my period never went away completely. Just a light period every day while on this medication. I never noticed any other side effects, except I experienced a ton of hair loss after one month. At first, I thought I was just shedding a lot of hair, but now it’s October, and I have lost almost half my hair. It's very brittle and thin, and I can see through it when I wear it down. Very upsetting since I didn’t realize this was a side effect of the drug. I’ve decided to stop the Provera and started taking Lupron injections in hopes that it will shrink my fibroid and stop my periods. Hope this works, and I don’t lose any more hair."

"I started bleeding September 7th. Saw a doctor in November who just told me it was the PCOS and to take ibuprofen. Saw another doctor in December, still bleeding. They gave me a referral. Saw the new one in January, still bleeding. Saw the last doc in February, yep, all the blood. She put me on Provera 10 mg. I was anemic from bleeding so much. For 4 days, I stopped bleeding after almost 6 months. But then it came back with a vengeance. Called the doctor, and she said to just take it twice a day rather than once a day. Currently, I’m changing feminine products every 30 minutes, passing clots, and the cramps resemble labor pains. I would not recommend this treatment to anyone with issues similar to mine."
