Medroxyprogesterone "I came off the pill over a year ago, and my cycles have been super irregular. My doc prescribed me Provera to bring on a period, as I hadn't had one for about 3 months. I managed to bleed a day before I finished my 10th pill (I was given 10 pills). I mean, it's great to bring on a period, but I was under the impression it would regulate my cycle thereafter, but that is not the case. So, it doesn't really help at all with irregular periods? A bit pointless, to say the least."

Medroxyprogesterone "I have irregular periods, and I’ve been trying to get pregnant, so my OB prescribed Provera pill to take for 10 days. Well, I took mine for 9 days and got my period 2-3 days after, which was great! But now, a week later, I am bleeding lightly, pink blood, and my OB does not know why. I have read some things where you don’t ovulate by taking Provera, so I doubt I’m pregnant. Trying not to freak out. Hope everyone will have a good experience with Provera."

Medroxyprogesterone "Took Provera because of PCOS. Started taking it for 10 days and started my period immediately after on the 10th-11th day. It does make you feel hormonal or PMS. Felt very angry and irritated while on my period, however, this is one I’ll be taking once every 3 months since it is considered a “natural” birth control compared to others. I did notice after not taking it for a month that I did start to bleed a little bit on my own. Not sure how next month will go, but it’s been positive so far."

Medroxyprogesterone "My first birth control experience was a disaster; I was taking Tri-Sprintec. Tri-Sprintec made me gain 20 pounds, acne, increased my periods, and did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. After one year of searching the internet for an alternative option, I came across the Depo-Provera shot. I have been on it now for 9 months (so this is my third shot), and I have come across no weight gain/no periods, and I think I am one of the few women who has been so lucky. The only thing is, for the first month of EACH shot, you have bloating, some pain, a little headaches, etc. It goes away for me after that. Nothing I can't handle compared to the periods I was getting before. Everyone is different though, but I highly recommend this!"

"So I was originally prescribed Provera about a month ago. I took the 10 mg once a day for 10 days and was told to wait a week for a period. A week went by and nothing. I called the doctor and she prescribed me a “stronger” dose, which was 10 mg twice a day for 7 days. And I waited another week. I still haven’t had a period. I have PCOS and have been trying to get pregnant. I also had irregular periods and this past year haven’t had a period. I’ve experienced bad mood swings that have been tough for my husband and me. I have to call my doctor in the morning and see what my next steps are. Has anyone else experienced this? And what did you have to do after?"

"I was really worried about taking this medication. I was on birth control and was very moody and emotional and gained about 15 pounds, so I went off it and didn't get my period for over 6 months. I was told to take this pill for 10 days, and I would get my period 3 to 4 days later. I took it and sure enough... 4 days later, I got it. Very few side effects, just that I was tired. My period is kind of heavy, but it has been 6 months, so I have to make up for lost time. I practically had no cramps and feel so much better than I thought I would. Definitely would highly recommend it. I had a very positive experience."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was recently diagnosed with PCOS with no periods (amenorrhea), so my OB-GYN prescribed Provera 5 mg for 5 days, and after 3 days, I started bleeding heavily until today, the 9th day. I'm a bit worried because if I do get a period, it usually lasts only for 5 days."

Medroxyprogesterone "I am 22 years old, and I took Provera for 10 days, twice a day starting March 7th. 10 mg. It worked for me. About 5 days after I ended the Provera (3.22.11), my period showed up. I am trying to conceive with my fiancé, but first, I need my period under control. I hope this all works out. So far, so good."

Medroxyprogesterone "Took two pills a day for ten days, and started my cycle three days after the last pill. Felt nauseous the first day of taking the pill, but it did what it was supposed to do, so no real complaints. Not sure if my cycle will regulate in the future, though."

Medroxyprogesterone "I took Provera for 10 days in order to induce a period, as I was experiencing amenorrhea from PCOS. I had a period the day after I took my last pill of the prescription. I did experience a breakout that was probably related to the progesterone itself, as I never usually break out."

Medroxyprogesterone "I get very hot with this medicine, otherwise, it works very well. I had my menstrual cycle for 4 months. I had a biopsy, and I was diagnosed with precancerous cells on my uterus. Plus, I'm not ovulating, so I needed to take this to get rid of my precancerous cells."

Medroxyprogesterone "From January 2015, my period started being irregular, and I haven't had my period since June last year (2016). My doctor recommended Provera, 5 mg for 10 days. My period came 4 days after the last pill. I'm so happy, and I hope it becomes regular again."

"I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone after not having a period for 152 days. My periods have always been irregular without any real diagnosis, I’ve been tested for them all. I’m 31 and want to start trying for a baby. I was prescribed 10 mg for 10 days and was told that I should have a period within 2 weeks of the 10th pill. On the evening of the 10th pill, my period started. It wasn’t crazy heavy, pretty normal, and it lasted for 5 days. I didn’t have any other side effects. My experience with it was very positive!"

Medroxyprogesterone "I am 24 years old and on my 8th day of taking the pill. I cannot wait until it is over. I was ordered to take the pill because I want to see why I wasn't having a period, which was abnormal for me. I haven't had a period in four months, though I was always regular. The doctor said there was no harm in me not having a period and that it was probably caused by the birth control shot I had three years before, but I should take the pills just to see what happens. The pills seem to have made my PMS worse. That includes menstrual cramps, cravings, fatigue, and moodiness. They were more horrible when I first started the pill and have calmed down a little now, but the symptoms are still there."

Medroxyprogesterone "I hadn’t had my period since July 11, my doctor prescribed me Provera at the end of October. I had withdrawal bleeding for a week but didn’t get a period. Even 14 days after taking the medicine, my doctor prescribed me birth control pills to get my period. I took one pill, and the next day I got severe abdominal pain, vaginal pain, and cramping. I could not walk. I cried for hours and kept taking pain pills. The day after that, I started spotting, and 6 days after that, a full-blown period."

Medroxyprogesterone "I am 27 years old, and I've been trying to get pregnant since February 2012. My last menstrual period was March 23, 2012, and I never had a period after that. I've been going to my Ob-Gyn for the past 4 months, and finally, she prescribed me Provera for 10 days, one pill once a day. I decided to use an ovulation predictor kit 10 days before I took my first pill last June 13, 2012. On my third day of taking my pill, my ovulation predictor went positive, it gave me a smiley face. On my fourth day of Provera, I experienced very weird dreams, hot flashes, PMS, backache, and a little dizziness. I had my last pill June 22, Friday, and this is my third day off of it. I'm hoping that I could get my period soon so that way I can start taking Clomid."

Medroxyprogesterone "I hate this medicine. Took for 10 days and did get my period the last day. 1st day was light, but since then it's been cramps that I can barely move and heavy, heavy bleeding. On day 6 and in the last 24 hours, I've leaked 3 times. Once was in a 1-hour period from the last leak. It causes your period, but be warned, it can be horrible. Was told to expect heavy, but this is ridiculous right now. On top of everything, I'm 27 and having hot flashes from side effects, massive headaches while taking the meds, and PMS, which I never have."

"I did not have my period for 2 and a half months. My husband and I are trying for a baby for the last 4 months. Then my doc gave me Provera, and one week later I got my period, which is like a normal period. I am thinking I will take Clomid because I really want a baby. My doc said you should try for one year before you start to take fertility treatment. What do you guys think? Should I take Clomid now or try for a full year?"

Medroxyprogesterone "I am now taking Provera for the 3rd time. It works, but I have had some extra hair growth on my stomach. I am willing to deal with that because I have been trying to conceive for 8 years. After I get my period under control, I will start taking Clomid. My husband and I are praying this time it will work."

Medroxyprogesterone "I started Provera in my journey to regulating a period for pregnancy. I started taking the pill, I did ten days of the medication, and the third day after my last pill, I got my period. It started off light and easy, and I was very hopeful for finally kick-starting my period that I didn't have for 5 months. About 5 days into this withdrawal, blood turned into a full-blown period, it was AWFUL. It was painful, and I was SOAKING all the way through extra thick pads, and it clotted so bad I was nervous seeing it. I couldn't complete normal tasks of daily living because I would stand up, and it felt like my entire insides were falling out, and I ended up using silhouette diapers to help from the bleed-through. Granted, I'm very thankful for the medication working like it should, but be ready for the period that comes. More times than none, I was so nervous to stand, nervous to sit, nervous to try and stray away from a restroom or home due to the extreme blood I was losing. Has anyone else experienced this?"

Medroxyprogesterone "Had Provera for 7 days, 10 mg to start my period. I've missed 48 periods over 5 years. On the 5th day from my last pill, I got my full period. I'm on the 5th day, very heavy. How long should I be bleeding?"

"I haven't had my period in over 135 days now. I went to the gyno, and she gave me medroxyprogesterone 10 mg for 10 days to push along my period. Today is day 8 after my last pill, and I still have not got my period. I am getting really disappointed because my other half and I want to start trying to have a baby. I am 36 years old, and with me not getting my period, I don't know what to do anymore. I am going to call the gyno either tomorrow (Monday) or wait until Wednesday because that will be 10 days after I took my last pill. I really want to start having a family and making babies. I really hope that there is nothing seriously wrong with me."

Medroxyprogesterone "I have always had amenorrhea (irregular periods) my whole life. Recently, at 21, I discovered that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) by testing that was done. I am starting to take Metformin to help it. I have to have Provera prescribed every 3 months for the prevention of endometrial cancer. I have depression and PMDD, which is a severe form of PMS, so the only downside is that it makes me extremely depressed for when I do have my period. But it always makes me have my period by the third, fourth, or recently fifth day. It does what it is supposed to do, though, and that is good."

Medroxyprogesterone "I gave it a 7 out of 10 because 1) I didn't experience any side effects, so that is great, and 2) I haven't gotten my period YET. I took Provera for 5 days, and this is my 2nd day off of it. I feel something going on in there, so I have a feeling Aunt Flo will be visiting soon, then I get to take my Clomid."

"I am 25 and unfortunately have always had irregular periods. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for over 3 years now with no luck. My doctor prescribed me medroxyprogesterone 5mg for 10 days in hope for a period followed by ovulation. After day 7 on my pill, I started bleeding lightly. It wasn't too crazy until my last day on the pill [day 10]. I have now been on my period for 12 long days [& going strong]. It has progressively gotten heavier and clotty [I have to change my pad & tampons every hour or so]. Anyone have a similar story? I'm worried I have been bleeding for so long. I have a doctor's appointment Tuesday to see what's going on."
