Medroxyprogesterone "I went without a period for 7 years and also had other fertility issues. If I didn't get prescribed this medication, I wouldn't have been able to conceive. I don't remember having side effects because I was so happy I got my cycle! The first time I took Provera, it took 2+ weeks to get my period. I thought it hadn't worked, but to my surprise, it had! So happy my OB-GYN prescribed me this."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was missing my period after taking the Plan B pill. So after waiting for 45 days for my period to come, the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. I took the pill for 9 days and somehow missed taking it on the 10th day. Three days after stopping my pill, I got my period. It was not very scary. Yes, I bled a little heavier on the third day, but it was manageable. I had aches in my thighs and my back. I would suggest buying panties with pads in them because it'll be easier to use and dispose of."

Medroxyprogesterone "I took Provera about two years ago for 10 days and it worked great for me. I also had to take Clomid on days 5-9 of my cycle and got pregnant on my third cycle. They both worked amazingly. I am now going to try again hoping to have the same luck."

Medroxyprogesterone "I am 35 years old. No children, never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2014. I started taking this drug to jumpstart my period as it had been almost 4 months without it. My doctor recommended I start birth control to try to regulate my period. I started this on April 15th. By April 22nd, I started to get pains on my upper right side, almost cramping like near my rib cage. It’s been a week with these on-and-off again pains. I finished the medication on the 24th and started bleeding Tuesday. The pain still comes and goes. I am a little nervous as to what this could be. Does anyone have this kind of experience with this drug?"

Medroxyprogesterone "I was prescribed Provera for 10 days at 6 pm every day. I have had no period since my early 20s, and then it was only on meds. I have a long history of hormonal problems and have been diagnosed with Amenorrhea, as many of you have. I have been in and out of IVF specialist clinics while they all tried to sell me theirs, and no one would actually help or give hope to conceive, but they were all quick to say that I had premature ovarian failure. However, I never gave up and found a doctor, a fertility specialist, and although I am overweight, have been found to have thyroid issues, and have a thin endometrium with high, I repeat high, levels of estrogen. I was prescribed this little pill, aka Provera. So ladies, do not lose hope, ask God, and trust!"

Medroxyprogesterone "I've always had normal periods before and while on birth control pills. I was on the pill for about 8 years. After stopping birth control, I only had 2 periods. 4 months had gone by and my period was still absent, so I decided to make an appointment to visit my gynecologist. I did blood work and everything came back normal, so she decided to prescribe me Provera to take over 10 days. I was extremely nervous to take it because of the side effects I could possibly experience. I took the pill for 10 days and had no side effects at all. Typically, I'm an overthinker, so I began to wonder if it was even working for me. 2 days after stopping Provera, my period started, and it's normal. Reading reviews before taking Provera really helped me have an idea, so I hope my review helps the next woman who may be experiencing this!"

Medroxyprogesterone "I hadn't had a period in 3 months. My doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg once a day for 10 days. She stated if I get my period in those 10 days to stop taking the pill at that time. Today was day 7, and my period came. I had no side effects from this medication. I had normal cramps at the onset of my period this morning. It seems to be a normal beginning flow as with any other time I had my period. I will report back to let everyone know how long it lasted."

Medroxyprogesterone "During the ten days on Provera, I was emotional, my boobs hurt severely, my face broke out like crazy, and I had horrible fatigue. Two days after the 10 days of taking Provera, I have the worst period I have ever had in my entire life. Having to change my pad/tampon every single hour was disgusting, I couldn't even enjoy a shower because even afterward I still bled nonstop. Each day that passes, the heavier my period gets. Today is my 6th day, and 4, 5, & 6 were heavy as hell, but 5 & 6 had excruciating cramps. And too many blood clots! :( I do not recommend this pill at all."

Medroxyprogesterone "I've never had a period. I'm 32 years old. My husband and I want to try to conceive a baby naturally. The doctor put me on Provera to kick start my ovaries because they are half the size of a normal size ovary for my age. It has been 5 days, two 10 mg pills a day. So far, nothing. I'm starting on another 5 days today. So far, 2 bad dreams and one panic attack. Nipples sore and cramping below navel, but nothing serious."

Medroxyprogesterone "The medication works by inducing a period. After taking this medicine, I had to take Clomid, and I conceived on my fourth round of medication. It works. Be patient, and good things will come. I am now trying again to conceive, and yes, I am taking Provera again, and I just started my first round of Clomid."

Medroxyprogesterone "Stopped seeing my periods for 5 months after using Oralcon contraceptives. I then went to a gynecologist, and they said I have one 4 cm fibroid. Then on the 6th month, I had my period, but it was super heavy. When I woke up in the morning, I couldn't walk, and when I sat on the bathroom seat, clots just fell out... like so many clots. Went to a doctor, I was given Provera to take for 10 days, and then after, I saw my periods. Today is my third day, and they are not heavy, hopefully, they stay like this. I have minor period cramps, but not so bad."

Medroxyprogesterone "I'm 22 and went 6 years without a cycle. Finally, the doctors prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It took 14 days to get my period, but it came. I was so relieved something finally worked! No side effects except my period, and that's what I wanted!"

Medroxyprogesterone "I’ve started taking Provera for having missed a period for a couple of months and trying to conceive. I’ve had irregular periods in the past on and off because the doctor told me I’m “somewhat polycystic.” I’ve taken the 10 mg for 10 days. While taking it, I felt moody, had acne breakouts, breast tenderness, and mild nausea. I started spotting on about day 4 after taking it. I’m now on day 6 and have SEVERE cramping to the point it hurts to breathe. I remember taking this in the past, and it made me have the worst period ever. I know the lining needs to shed, and when it does, it’s going to be sooooo heavy. Guess the pill does the trick, but just have to be ready for the pain :("

Medroxyprogesterone "I have taken this medication before. A couple of years ago, I went 9 months without a period, and I was prescribed this medication at 10 mg for 10 days. The 3rd day after the 10th pill, I had a normal period. More recently, I haven’t had a period for 16 months. I have PCOS. This is the 3rd round of 10 mg per 10 days, and nothing has made my period come. Starting to give up at this point. Super disappointed."

Medroxyprogesterone "I'm 26 years old and have always had irregular periods. Recently, I found out that I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and was prescribed Provera. I took it twice a day for 10 days and started bleeding about 3 days after they finished. I can honestly say it was the worst period I've ever had! It was very heavy, and I felt sick and dizzy. I was so emotional, and I never get any sort of PMS usually. My period also lasted for 10 days. It stopped on Sunday, and I'm bleeding again today (Thursday). Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?"

Medroxyprogesterone "Provera is an effective medicine for amenorrhea. I would like to share my experience here: When I didn't get my periods on the regular dates, I went to the gynecologist, he told me things were okay. The reasons for the delay he told me were hormonal imbalance and stress. He gave me certain medicines and a syrup of herbal medicine to get the periods and make them regular. But, I didn't get my period in spite of taking them. So, I googled this medicine and got my periods after taking Provera 10 mg tablet daily for 5 days. I would like to thank all who reviewed this medicine earlier."

Medroxyprogesterone "I have a really hard time taking estrogen birth control, and I decided to get the Depo shot. After reading the reviews, I was so scared I canceled my appointment to get it. After thinking about it, I decided to just go ahead with it and see what happens. I've been on it a little more than 3 weeks, and I've noticed that I am a little more tired, and I have some pimples that are starting to go away. Other than that, I haven't had any spotting, tender breasts, sex drive changes, etc. Usually, before my period, I eat non-stop and have cravings, and it's nice to not have that! I will write again to update how it's going in a few weeks. I wanted to let people know not to be terrified. It may work for you, and if it doesn't, just don't get another shot."

Medroxyprogesterone "Stopped taking it 2 weeks ago. I've had cramps, backache, a huge zit on my face. I am 50 in December. Haven't had a period in a year. My gynecologist gave me Provera due to a thicker than normal lining. Don't know what's next? Just want some relief. I'm so bloated it's not even funny. Look pregnant. This medicine didn't work for me."

Medroxyprogesterone "I'm 18 and had very regular periods every month for 4 years, and they stopped for no reason. Played the wait game, and before I knew it, 3 whole years had passed. 5-day, 10 mg Provera challenge starting July 1st, and on July 9th, 4 days after my last pill, got my period. Not a terrible period for me like everyone else. A little heavy, mild cramping, but my periods used to be worse. Also, does anybody know if it's true if my periods come back on their own after 3 Provera cycles? Read that in a few places, but I don't know if it's true."

"I am now on 10 mg of Provera for 10 days each month. My doctor has me on it for a year. I have PCOS, so I do not ovulate normally, and it caused absent periods. Well, thanks to Provera, I have now had my cycle for 6 months straight. I take my pills on the 19th of each month and have my period like clockwork on the 30th of each month. I can say, however, I have a few side effects: I have bad PMS symptoms and am super irritable at times, and I feel a little off as well. But I'm just thankful to have a period. The thing is, I don't know if I am ovulating or not because I have not tried to get pregnant. However, I am ready to start trying for a family. Wish me luck, guys."

Medroxyprogesterone "First, I'm from Brazil, so forgive my bad English =]. I have PCOS and decided to stop taking birth control pills 8 months ago. I know it's expected to have irregular periods for a while, but I was on the 70th day of my cycle...so I decided to take Provera for the first time ever (doctors here only prescribe metformin or bc pills for PCOS). I took 10 mg for 7 days and 5 days after the last pill, my blood came!! Yay! It was a regular flow and light cramps. The only thing I noticed during the 7 days was food cravings and crazy dreams."

Medroxyprogesterone "I was prescribed this drug, Provera, due to not having a period for several months and wanting to get pregnant. I was given a 10-day supply, and I had painful stomach aches. So bad that I didn’t take it the last 2 days. My period came just a few days later, and it was not heavy but pretty normal. Around the 4th day, my cramps became unbearable. Never experienced such pain before. The doctor wants me to continue to use this drug if I don’t see my period again next month. I’m not sure I can go through with it again."

Medroxyprogesterone "My doctor is giving me this to try and get my period under control. I'm 23, and since I was 16, my periods have been very irregular. I have a period once every 5 or 6 months. This is my second time taking this medicine. The first time was in December 2011 (6 months ago), and I started my period on the 10th day. I bled for 5 days, it started out light, then became EXTREMELY heavy. I was going through 6 or 7 tampons a day. After that, I had one more period that lasted only one day and was very light. So, the doctor told me to try this again. Today is day 9, and I have been extremely nauseous since about day 4. No period yet, but there is some excess discharge."

"I have been on the generic Seasonique since my late teens. I am now 34, and my husband and I are finally ready to start a family. I went off birth control in late August 2019. I didn't have a period until December, and then nothing in January and February, so I called my OB-GYN. They did some blood work on my levels and a transvaginal ultrasound, and everything was within normal range. I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone to take 1 pill for 5 days to start my period. I had my period after day 5. Very heavy but not bad cramps. Lasted 4 or 5 days. I did feel bloated and tender breasts. One week or so after my period, I was super horny... never have been like that before... and my husband and I had plenty of intercourse. I thought for sure I would be pregnant, and then I did not get my period in April. Took a pregnancy test, and it was negative, so now I will start the medroxyprogesterone again for 5 days. My OB-GYN thinks I should try this treatment before testing my husband's sperm and starting Clomid."

Medroxyprogesterone "Back in 2011, I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility and prescribed Provera to induce a period and Clomid to force ovulation. We were coming to the end of my medications, and I was told I’d be referred for IVF as it wasn’t working. I took the last dosages of medications, and now I have an 8-year-old daughter because of them! Currently on day 6 of a 10-day prescription again, as I’ve not had a period in nearly a year, and I have now been diagnosed with PCOS. Starting to feel cramps and am finding that I’m quite easily agitated."
