For Bowel Preparation "Do NOT use Suprep unless your doctor scales the dosage for your weight. I weigh about 130 pounds, but was prescribed the typical two 6-oz bottles dosage. First round went OK; started going about 20 minutes after finishing the dose. Then it was off and on the toilet all the way to 8:15, so I only had about 45 min. break before starting the 2nd dose. Then all hell broke loose. First toilet run started about 30 min after the 2nd dose. Then I got hit with waves of nausea and finally projectile vomiting at the same time as expelling through the rectum. Including vomiting blood, which the doctor said was due to an esophagus tear from violent vomiting. The nurse said they should never prescribe the same amount of fluid for a 130 lb person as someone twice my size."

For Bowel Preparation "Drank extra water and drank the Suprep. It took me almost an hour to get the mixture down as I was gagging from the taste! At first gulp, I thought it wasn't so bad, but a third through, I could not take the saltiness! There was a little still left when I had to dash to the potty to start eliminating water. I could not leave the toilet at all for an hour, but this part was easier than the drink! No cramps, no headaches, really not so bad. After 1.5 hours, I was able to take a shower. Still have to urinate every 30 mins or so with minimal watery stool. Not sure how I will get the second dose down tomorrow, but so far, besides the drink part, it's not that bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I have a colonoscopy every year, so I've tried everything. Suprep might be better than most, but the Miralax prep is still the best. Virtually tasteless. I was given Suprep this time, for some reason, and it makes me want to gag. Tastes like soft soap mixed with salt water. BARF."

For Bowel Preparation "Followed a low-fiber diet for about five days. Doctor told me to take one Dulcolax pill for two nights prior to the prep. I think this made the prep work more quickly. Anyway, the Suprep... the worst-tasting, vile liquid I ever drank. I was surprised that the majority seemed to not mind the flavor too much. Tastes like cherry cough syrup? NO WAY, but managed to drink it. A thick straw I think is best. The prep itself was fine. First dose I took at 4:30 pm. Started to work within 15 minutes and lasted no more than two to three hours. Second dose around 12 hours later, same results. I had no side effects-no nausea, bloating, vomiting, etc. Seemed to do the job."

For Bowel Preparation "The taste of this is vile. I added Crystal Light, but it was just as disgusting. I could barely get it down without dry heaving. It worked as far as cleaning me out, but there must be something better tasting out there. And the price was a joke. This awful, poison-tasting concoction cost me $50."

For Bowel Preparation "Just had this for my procedure tomorrow. Managed to get the first one down, but the second dose rocketed out of me when I threw it up. I'm worried they won't do the colonoscopy now, but I think it was way too much for me. I'm 4'9 and weigh 100 lbs."

For Bowel Preparation "Had a colonoscopy today at 7:30 AM. I basically had a very low-fiber diet 3 days before my procedure. Did only rice, pasta, bread slice, etc. The day before the procedure, I had a slice of bread and apple juice in the morning. During the day, I survived on water, Sprite, and jello. Started drinking the prep at 4:30. Not the best tasting thing out there, but better than the tablets I took last time. Was about to vomit while drinking, but I took a Zofran 30 mins prior to drinking this nasty stuff. Key is to mix it up with something like Sprite, Gatorade, etc., and drink it cold. I could only take 1 bottle but was cleaned out by 8:30 PM. I tried taking a few sips from the other one but just couldn’t do it. My doctor was very happy with the results and said the colon was very clean. If you control your diet prior and drink slowly. Good luck."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm not going to pretend it tasted good, but I've paid for things that tasted worse at the bar. I kept the bottle in the fridge, mixed with really cold water, and used a wide straw as far back in my mouth as I could stand it. I got the cup down in probably four gulps, drinking grape juice and spoonfuls of ginger syrup in between. Tangobabe listed a recipe for ginger syrup on 1/17/15 that I made last night because I was nervous about getting nauseous (the last prep I used, I vomited probably half of) and it worked like a charm. Seriously, look for that post. I stopped drinking anything about halfway through the day today knowing that it would be hard for me to fit so much liquid in my belly at once, and the fact that I was hungry helped."

For Bowel Preparation "The colonoscopy went fine, but afterward, I kept throwing up. Sipping nothing but water, I started vomiting the coffee ground-like blood. I missed 4 days of work, stopped vomiting after 1 day, but my stomach felt burned, like I drank acid. I couldn't eat anything even warm, and I could feel any bite of food scraping down into my stomach."

For Bowel Preparation "This is without a doubt the worst med I have ever taken. This isn't my first colonoscopy, but I'm hoping I won't have another for a while. With the first taste, I thought I wouldn't be able to finish the first dose. (I vomited twice while trying to get it down.) It took me almost 10 minutes to finish it. My second dose will be at midnight. I am going to actually start it at 11:30 pm because I plan to take my time. I have also chilled it this time and will be adding Sprite instead of water. (I checked with the digestive specialist, and they said it was alright to do so.) I will be using a straw and have a lemon wedge. I'm really hoping this helps. If I have to have another colonoscopy, I will ask to use something else. Good luck!"

For Bowel Preparation "This is my 4th colonoscopy, the first using Suprep. The prior 3 I used Moviprep. The Moviprep was disgusting tasting, and I was not able to get all of the 2nd dose down. The same thing happened to me this morning trying to take my 2nd dose of Suprep, I couldn't get all of the 2nd dose down because it was making me gag so much I couldn't even take a sip of it after drinking approximately 8-9 oz of it. Can't someone make a prep that isn't so sweet and syrupy tasting? A stronger version of Ex-Lax maybe?"

For Bowel Preparation "Horrendous. I can't believe these people who say, 'don't listen, don't believe' all the horror stories, or 'anxiety hype?' Newsflash, people, different things affect different people differently. No problem for you? GREAT!!!! Don't discount other people's perfectly legitimate comments. I for one could not finish the first bottle, not even opening the second. The first gulp was not too hard to keep down. It got progressively worse with every sip or gulp. Tried to dilute it more, no good. Tried lemonade, no help. I made it two-thirds of the way through the first bottle, if that stuff ever touches my mouth again, I will auto-vomit."

For Bowel Preparation "Started the Suprep prep at 5 pm, tasted like grape/berries, with a sour aftertaste. All bearable. Chilled the solution and used a straw to sip it down. No lemons, no gagging, no nausea. Stomach is starting to gurgle at 5:25 pm and otherwise, fine. Now waiting for the explosions to occur! 2nd dose will be at 2:30 am next morning. Not looking forward to barely getting any sleep!"

For Bowel Preparation "Terrible reaction to this medicine. Severe bloating and cramps. At first, I just figured it was a side effect and would feel better once it started working, the cramps would go away. But it never worked and the cramps got really intense after 5 hours, after drinking Suprep, I was considering going to the emergency room. I didn't have a fever or feel like vomiting, so I decided to stay. But 30 minutes later, I felt weak, dizzy, nauseous, had a dry mouth, and my jaw was going numb. I went to the ER. After vomiting, I felt better. But then I had a bout of hiccups that caused further pain from the cramping. My body couldn't handle the medicine. I did fast, I did all that you're supposed to do."

For Bowel Preparation "I am 63, and this was my first colonoscopy! I followed all of the instructions and read a lot of the reviews on here so that I could be prepared. The first dose went down pretty well, and I didn't have any trouble drinking the water. Everything kicked in by 30 minutes, and within 2 hours, I was pretty cleaned out. In the morning, I prepared to take the 2nd dose and thought it was going to be a breeze. I started drinking the mixture and immediately realized this was not going to be as easy. I got about 1/2 down when it kicked in again. I struggled to finish the entire dose and was able to get most of the water down before I experienced projectile vomiting. Luckily, I was cleaned out enough, and the procedure went great."

For Bowel Preparation "Before using the stuff, I read a bunch of reviews. Cool the prep and mixing water, room temp water for the 2 glass 16 oz followers. Drink it fast, wait about 10 minutes, and then a lot of visits to the WC. Have a new roll of paper. Do it again as prescribed, and that is it. It worked much better than the older stuff. After about 2 1/2 hours, the show was over each time. No cramps, headaches, vomit, etc. Just a somewhat unpleasant 2 days."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my 3rd time to have a colonoscopy. I didn't remember too much about the first one, the 2nd one was horrible with having to drink Golytely and now Suprep. The flavor isn't too bad, almost like a medicinal Sweetart. I drank all of the first one without too much of a problem, although I did have projectile vomiting after I drank it all. Although it cleared me out pretty much with the first one. When I had to drink the 2nd one, that was a different story. I was gagging and having a harder time getting it down, but it didn't take as long for things to start moving again. I wish I had known about the stuff to add to it before, but this worked."

For Bowel Preparation "Vomiting and diarrhea at the same time - horrible. The most vile tasting medicine. Tried mixing it with lemon-flavored water on ice and holding my nose. I still was gagging and vomiting. Doing it once is bad enough, but then have to get up in the middle of the night to do it all over again? There's got to be a better way."

For Bowel Preparation "Had my colonoscopy today after putting it off for a couple of months because of the prep. This was my fifth colonoscopy, and Suprep was by far the easiest for me. I was very skeptical, especially after reading some of the reviews on this site. But there were also some very good suggestions for getting it down, as well. I started the prep last night at 6:30. I kept the Suprep in the fridge and mixed it with 8 oz of 7-Up and cold water. I also divided it into four 4 oz cups and drank it through a straw. Keep lemon wedges nearby to suck on after each cup. Got it all down within 5 minutes. It started working within a half hour, and I was pretty much done by 8:30. I never had nausea, vomiting, or cramping. This morning I repeated the above."

For Bowel Preparation "Drinking this is what comes to mind if someone asked you to combine cherry cough syrup with seawater, with none of the fun of being at the beach. I'm sure the folks who came up with this had some fun. A couple of facts: you will gag at minimum, you may throw up, you will never want to prep again, and it will work if you can down it. I have no tips to make it better. Just thinking about it makes me gag. First dose at 6:00, worked within the hour. Just did my second dose at 9:30, and 15 minutes later, I already feel ready to empty. Good luck."

For Bowel Preparation "Just drank first 16 ounces - couldn't finish it all - drank first 16 ounces of water - the prep makes me gag and vomit some. Stomach is hurting, and I'm so queasy. There has got to be an easier way to prep - this is my 4th colonoscopy, so I knew what was ahead - can't wait to be sedated and have this be over."

For Bowel Preparation "They really need to offer an unflavored formulation. I managed to get the first dose down within about 20 minutes, followed by both cups of water in another 10. No problem. The second dose (midnight) was another story. I had extreme nausea and gagged with every sip. No matter how much I diluted it with water, I was still gagging. I got about 2/3 of it down and then had to switch to plain water. Was still nauseous prior to the morning procedure. Threw up during the procedure, but luckily did not aspirate anything. Dr. said the cleanse level was good, but I assure you I will not be using SuPrep next time unless it's unflavored."

For Bowel Preparation "As most people said, the taste is not pleasant, but I got it all down with no problems. Drinking a lot of water the days leading to the test and especially the day of the prep made it work through well. Also, eating a lighter diet the couple of days before made the process go easily. I did not experience any nausea, vomiting, or cramping. I was prepped well, and my colonoscopy went fine. The only negative side of this is the taste. Maybe they can find a way to improve it before my next one!"
