For Bowel Preparation "Taste accurately described as salty cough syrup. Best to chug it down if you can, and then sip the water to get rid of the taste. A warm cup of tea helps too and also helps with the chills. Took first dose at 5 PM and took about an hour to work. Finished about 10 PM but was up twice. Second dose this morning seems to be working about the same but just pretty clear at this point. Procedure not until 12:30, so we'll see if it worked."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep Bowel Prep did the job! Was it pleasant? Not in the least. It tastes bad (sweet and salty), but it wasn’t horrid to me. Took first dose at 3 p.m. Within 15 minutes, I was nauseous, light-headed, cramping, and suffering full body sweats. Then the chills set in, and I was shivering uncontrollably for an hour. Fell asleep for an hour. Around 6 p.m., I started having significant “movements.” Second dose was at 9 p.m. Drank it much slower and was only able to get down 2/3 of the solution due to severe nausea. I was able to drink plain water, however. I never threw up, but that was only by sheer willpower and nonstop swallowing against it to keep the medicine down. Was completely cleared out by midnight."

For Bowel Preparation "I took my first dose of Suprep at 6 pm as per doctor's orders. Earlier in the day, I gave myself a huge enema, which really cleaned me out. I followed the experience of others on this website and drank the Suprep cold out of a straw into the back of my mouth while holding my nose. This worked really well and was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I did not vomit and was not nauseous. I did get some minor chills right after drinking all the cool water, but they went away shortly, especially after I drank some warm broth. I was not on the toilet nearly as long as I thought I would be. I really think the enema made things easier. Hope my morning dose goes as well. I have to take it at 5 am. I really want a burger and fries."

For Bowel Preparation "My experience was much like all the others. The taste was disgusting! And then the hours on the toilet were excruciating. I had some Depends (incontinence pants) left from when my elderly mother stayed with me. After about 3 hours of sitting on the john and my back hurting and my legs asleep, I put one of the Depends on and laid down. The Depends pants were a lifesaver. When the urge hit me, there was no time to make it to the bathroom. It prevented major messes! After drinking the second round of prep, I started with chills and a very weak feeling. Then it was another 3 hours on the toilet. I tried to get up and walk around a bit, but then it’s a race again to the toilet. I wore the Depends to the hospital because I was mortified that I might poop myself. The doctor told me the prep wasn’t too bad to take. I don’t think he’s done it."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep is not the tastiest drink in the world, but it gets the job done. The worst side effects I experienced were chills and slight nausea. I did the split dose, so 1 bottle the night before the test and one the morning of. There was no vomiting, and it did its job in about 3 hours, although I recommend staying close to a toilet just in case. It's definitely the worst part of the colonoscopy, though, so just know as they're wheeling you back for the procedure, the worst is over."

For Bowel Preparation "My first ever colonoscopy. I am confident about my GI doc, just scared of the taste of Suprep. I have a really bad gag reflex, so I am expecting that I would throw up. I did once on each dose. I have to find a moment each time I took a sip and cover my mouth with a towel. Swallow, then sip a water. Then play a game on my iPad. Then wait for another moment to take another sip. It took longer for me to finish the Suprep, but it works. I had chills and got nauseous. I have been using baby wipes for years down there, so my bottom didn’t hurt that much. Baby rash cream helps, too. Talking to yourself in the mirror to suck it up and drink it up helps a lot. May your experience with Suprep be better than what I’ve been. Today, Aug 9, is my procedure, and I'm looking forward to it."

For Bowel Preparation "I didn't have a good experience. Was violently ill with chills, vomiting, and a terrible headache. I drank lots of water, iced tea, and ginger ale, but I couldn't finish the prep. I'd rather use Fleet's Phospho Soda and Fleet's enema."

For Bowel Preparation "I must say, it’s not the worst prep I’ve done. I took some of the tips I read and chilled the bottle of medicine and mixed it with a 16.9 oz bottle of room temperature water. I drank it down, then drank two 16.9 oz bottles of water with some iced tea mix. Took all of 10 minutes. An hour later, I had a regular bowel movement, the real action began half an hour after that. Then it was every 15 to 30 minutes for about 3 hours. I had a break for an hour and a half, then another blast. I didn’t have any of the chills, cramps, or nausea a lot of people spoke of, nor had my doctor told me to do liquids only the day before, trust me, I ate. To keep hydrated today, I’ve been drinking watered down white grape juice and lemon-lime Gatorade, as well as clear chicken broth. I still have to do the second dose, so I don’t see much sleep tonight. My appointment is at 9 AM, and it’s about a half-hour cab ride to the facility, so I hope I’m finished running by then. Good luck, everyone!"

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep definitely cleared me out; however, this was the worst experience I have ever had with colonoscopy prep. To start, this concoction tastes horrible. It was like a mouthful of grape-flavored salt water. Each dose was 16 oz of pure hell. Secondly, this cleanser gave me chills and nausea. I will never be using this prep again."

For Bowel Preparation "Having had 2 other colonoscopies, the last one 10 years ago, I can say that I won’t ever dread prep again, as long as I can use Suprep. It is SO much better than Golightly because you only need to drink 16 oz of the not-so-great-tasting solution, followed by 32 oz ice water or tea, whatever you prefer, over the next hour. True, it does taste like cherry cough syrup, but if you plug your nose, use a straw, and place a lime coated with sugar on your tongue after each big swallow, it is tolerable. My husband had a colonoscopy with Golightly 2 days before mine, and he (a physician) had chills and nausea and felt quite unwell with that. By comparison, Suprep was a breeze."

For Bowel Preparation "This Suprep liquid mixed with water is absolutely inhuman! It tasted like 20 ground-up white aspirin dissolved in Windex. Although I have never tasted such a mixture, it is the only thing I can equate it to. I then drank half a liter of water. The taste stays in your mouth, even after brushing and mouthwash. I’m telling you it’s inhuman! It’s the 21st century... there is surely something that tastes more tolerable. Thirty minutes after the first bottle mixture, it triggered a horrible migraine, facial redness, and heat like a sunburn. I felt the first urge to “go” about an hour later. I was forced to take an Imitrex migraine pill, 100 mg, after two hours of suffering. I had the chills terribly, and my body ached like the flu. I slept for an hour and got up to attempt to drink the other bottle mixture. I could only get down a quarter of the mixture because I thought I was going to throw up."

For Bowel Preparation "I had my first colonoscopy yesterday. I was worried Suprep wouldn’t clean me out since I’m usually constipated... boy, was I wrong. This stuff WORKS. And it works well. I had absolutely no stomach cramps, the only uncomfortable thing was the bad chills. Had to have a blanket over my two sweatshirts I had on and was still freezing. Took the first dose at 6 pm, and it took me an hour to drink it (it’s not bad at first but gets worse and more difficult to stomach towards the end). The stuff started working before I finished it, I’d say 30 minutes in. Took the second dose at 9 am, but again, was on the toilet by 9:15. I stayed there until around 11:45, and I was clear and yellow by then. Good luck to all, it’s really not so bad. Actually, kind of a nice cleanse!"

For Bowel Preparation "Started the prep at 6 pm tonight. It’s currently 6:55 pm, and I’m a quarter of the way through my second 16 oz cup of water as I’m sitting on the toilet peeing out my butt. The A&D ointment was a good call, as was the lemon-lime Gatorade. I put on some comfy PJs, and I’m happy I did as I’m already getting the chills. Once my back end stops leaking, I’ll hop into bed under my weighted blanket, where I’ll be warm. At this point, I’m not sure what’s worse: the hunger pains from only clear liquids today or my current condition. The prep wasn’t horrible. Definitely has that cherry medicine flavor, except excessively sweeter and not much bitterness. I thought I was going to upchuck when I was almost finished, but I held it down, and the plain water was a welcomed flavor! We’ll see how the rest of the night goes. I think I’m hoping right now that I won’t have to pull over in the morning when we head into Houston for the procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "The Suprep drink was effective. So effective, I was running to the bathroom every 5 minutes for over 4 hours. I'm 29 years old and had my first colonoscopy and endoscopy for abdominal pain. I was so nervous to have this procedure because I heard the prep was awful! After experiencing it firsthand, I have to agree - it was. The drink was terrible. I somehow managed to get the first one down, but when it came time to drink the second one the following morning, I puked half of it up. Like someone below said - it was a cherry saltwater hell. I was laying on the floor in my bathroom with the chills. It was probably a combination of no food in my system and drinking the Suprep. I hope I never have to drink this stuff again. Ever."

For Bowel Preparation "Was very nervous to begin the process for my first colonoscopy and the Suprep, but knew I had to go through with it. Thanks to the reviews I had read, I made sure to put both bottles in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours prior to the first dose, and I also used bottled water, which I had in the refrigerator as well. Bottom line, get the stuff as cold as possible and drink it with a straw. Took me about 10 minutes to get the first dose down. The taste was weird - not really bad - but I did suck slightly on a lemon afterwards. My biggest side effect was a slight headache and chills, which lasted a couple of hours, and the same thing after the second dose at 2 in the morning. But the stuff did the trick, and I followed the directions to the letter to include the two 16oz of water after each dose. Don't let some of these reviews scare you from getting the colonoscopy, the whole process isn't pleasant, but it isn't THAT bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I am female, 5'3", 105 lbs. My first dosage started at 1:00 pm, went down OK, not easy but managed... The second dose was at 11:00 pm. This one was very difficult for me. I told myself I had to get this down and I would be finished. I threw up a few times after drinking the required 2 extra glasses. I had the chills and the shakes. Went to bed with an extra blanket and a hoodie on top of my pajamas. Thank heavens my procedure was the first one of the day because for me, that was the easy part. I have had no aftereffects, just rested after coming home. Was able to go back to work the next day."

For Bowel Preparation "The first thing I would recommend would be that you get some A&D ointment. Use it every time you have to wipe. It will make it less uncomfortable. The worst part of this to me was drinking this extremely bad-tasting medicine. The first dose, it was all I could do not to throw up, and I don't do that. Then I got really bad chills. So for the second dose, I plugged my nose and then drank room temperature water. But the medicine cleans you out. Actual colonoscopy is a breeze after the prep."

For Bowel Preparation "Effective, however, it is gross! I threw up about a 1/4 cup of it each time. I still was okay for my procedure, but maybe because I am a small person. The drink was terrible getting down. Then, about 15-20 minutes later, the river started flowing, and I just sat for 2 hours till it was done enough for me to rest. I had chills, minor cramping, and severe spouts of nausea, but it went within the first hour after drinking the drink and water."

For Bowel Preparation "I had a terrible experience with Suprep. When I downed the first dose, I experienced shaking across my entire body and alternated between chills and hot flashes. I managed to drink 90% of it, just barely. It was terrible, by the way. It took two hours to work. I managed to drink ALL of the second dose with the same experience. However, once I started drinking the water after the second dose, my body couldn't take it anymore. I vomited ALL the second dose. The procedure had to be canceled. I will NEVER take this poison again. I honestly think I was allergic to it."

While I later found advice on the internet to take it with Sprite or lemonade, that wasn’t in the instructions for the product. Now I have chills and teeth chattering. Nothing in the instructions about that side effect."

For Bowel Preparation "I can't even begin with how absolutely disgusting and vile this was. I could not stop shivering like I was cold and gagging, and I had goosebumps everywhere. I am finding it almost impossible to finish the second dose. I honestly wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, and I will never have another colonoscopy after this experience. While all that sucks, sadly the medicine actually does work very well and gets the job done. I would recommend being extremely close to the toilet afterwards."

For Bowel Preparation "Pros: excellent results - thoroughly cleaned color; two portions of 16 oz. Cons: TASTE, chills, bloating, and the long time it took to cleanse (I took the second portion at 1:30 and was still going at 6 a.m. for a 7:30 procedure). Important to note: each person's reaction is unique. Don't let the reviews scare you. At the endoscopy center, everyone was comparing notes about the product they used, and there didn't seem to be a consensus as to which product was the best."

For Bowel Preparation "Took the 1st dose of Suprep at 6 pm, made me feel like I had the flu... chills, headache, and I was in the bathroom every 10 minutes for about 3 hours. Woke up at 1:30 am to get the second dose ready for 2 am. Chugged it down because I have a hard time with textures and taste. I managed to get it down, along with the water. About 15 minutes later, my body completely rejected it, and I threw it all up. I'm sitting here now at 3 am, searching the web to find answers to whether or not the colonoscopy can still happen?? All signs point to yes... so hopefully I won't have to reschedule."

For Bowel Preparation "This was the nastiest stuff I've ever drank. Mixed with cold lemon-lime Gatorade and just had to keep drinking without breathing through my nose till it was gone. Took the first dose at 6:30 pm, and when I took the second dose at 8:30 pm, I almost didn't get it all down. Part of it came back up. Started working 30 minutes after the first dose and worked a lot quicker than I expected. That part I liked. Did have the chills while taking it and felt bloated from all the water, which the water was easy for me to drink that amount of. But that taste... how in the world could some say it even remotely tasted like watered-down grape? Tasted like pure nastiness!!!"
