For Bowel Preparation "First bottle, all the disgusting that most everyone says; plus chills and nausea. Then read here about straws and lemons (had none). Second bottle used the straw; yes, it bypasses most of the mouth surface. I drank 1/3 through straw and immediately swished my mouth with black coffee and spit, then swished with mint mouthwash and spit. Two more rounds of straw drinking and swish and spit. For me, totally worked; no disgusting taste. Sipped the additional water for an hour versus drinking it all down quickly like the first bottle (no nausea or chills the second time). Do something to clear your mouth between rounds of drinking the med. Eight stars for the second bottle and that I was 100% cleaned for colonoscopy per Dr. When you can see through to the white toilet bowl, you are sure you are empty!"

For Bowel Preparation "This is my third colonoscopy. Sure, Suprep doesn't taste good, but it's nowhere near as bad as the Phospho-soda stuff I had years ago with the first procedure. That stuff was like drinking concentrated seawater. The Suprep was a walk in the park by comparison. The two-day prep worked well for me, and I think the bland, low bulk, low fiber diet two days before the procedure reduces the cramps and abdominal discomfort. Thirty minutes after the first dose, it started working. I had a little nausea, a few chills, but nothing major. I have yet to take the second dose, but don't anticipate any problems."

For Bowel Preparation "Took first part of prep with cold water at 2 pm. Worst thing I have ever tasted! It's a salty grape chemical taste (if you have ever accidentally gotten perfume in your mouth, it's like that with a salty grape flavor). Worse than that was the intense chills and shivering I had for over an hour! That being said, it started working in less than an hour, no cramping or pain. I dread taking the next dose because of the taste."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm on the second dose, but it certainly hasn't been as bad as I was led to believe. I was done after 3 hours after the first dose, it's been 2 and a half hours since the second dose, and I'm making less frequent trips. The taste wasn't great, but not as salty as I expected. The second round seemed worse, maybe because I was pleasantly surprised with round one. No cramps so far, or nausea, the biggest drawback has been chills. It's subsided after the first 90 minutes after each dose, but during that time I couldn't get warm. I compare the taste to either old cough syrup or Red Bull."

For Bowel Preparation "I got prep down within 15 minutes, then I drank 32 ounces of water over the next 30 minutes - they told me I had to get this all down within one hour - all of a sudden my stomach got bloated and started making noises, and then the nausea came full force with mouthwatering and fierce chills, and I ran to the bathroom and I vomited twice. I never expected this to happen because I never read the reviews until now. 45 minutes later, I had a little bit of diarrhea, then a regular bowel movement, then about an hour later watery diarrhea, then full force liquid. Woke up at 4 AM nervous and did the 5 AM dose, this time holding my nose as I took five swigs each time, followed by water swishing around my mouth to get the taste out. Prep works faster the second time."

For Bowel Preparation "I am currently 3 hours in since my first dose of Suprep. First timer doing this. It helped to drink with a straw in 15-minute increments, taking sips of lemon Gatorade after each gulp of Suprep. Definitely tastes like bad cough syrup. I started getting chills shortly after finishing the dose, and my stomach just felt off. Not cramping, but just not normal or comfortable. About an hour and a half after the dose, an explosive watery stool emerged. It was a bit scary at first since it kind of falls out of you. It’s been an hour and a half so far since my first loose bowel, and I’m freezing and going about every 20 minutes or so. It is like you are peeing out of the back end. Very peculiar. Still not clear yet, so I am hoping this ends soon. Wish there was a better way. This is horrible."

For Bowel Preparation "It works even if you can't keep it down. My colonoscopy/endoscopy was May 16, 2014. Eat light meals like rice and chicken two days prior. The day before, follow directions - I drank Coca-Cola (for caffeine and sugar), orange Gatorade, and chicken broth. Drink the mix as directed through a straw and hold your nose. It tasted sweet and salty, and I could not chug it down - took 15 minutes to finish the prep mixture. Then 32 ounces of water. I had nausea, chills, and stomach cramps, but they went away in an hour. The second phase did not go so well - I threw up the mixture. But it still worked."

For Bowel Preparation "I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. I took the first bottle of the bowel prep in the evening as indicated and became very cold and dizzy. The next morning, I took the second one as indicated and fainted. My blood pressure was 230/118 several times, and I had blurred vision and tremors. I was rushed to the ER. I was given IV fluids, and my blood pressure was treated. It was in the 190s when I got there. My colonoscopy was canceled. I will never take it again. I almost had a stroke."

For Bowel Preparation "The taste is certainly not delicious, but not awful either. I drank it slowly, through a straw, and it began working around 1 hour later. Want to say that a few days before, I ate very light meals, so I cleaned out with only the nighttime bottle. When your discharge looks the color of Mt. Dew, you're clean. I avoided the morning bottle, and the GI Dr. said I was cleaned out sufficiently. I experienced chills with the prep and some nausea. Used butterscotch hard candy to suck on after drinking the prep to help get rid of the aftertaste."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my 6th bowel prep & the worst tasting ever. It did the job. I'm 2 hours post first round. My butt is on fire, I'm weak, & freezing. Had my husband stop & get me some Miralax & Gatorade for my morning round. No way am I even attempting to drink another sip. I gagged the first one down, barely. I will refuse this prep. I have Crohn's & scopes are pretty regular."

For Bowel Preparation "Took the first dose at 3:00, took 20 minutes to start working. In the bathroom for 3 hours. The first hour and a half to two hours, there was no leaving the toilet. Last hour, I had about 10 minutes between visits. I had cold chills, the doctor said this is normal. HINT: Mix Suprep with ice-cold water and drink through a straw. I gave myself 5 minutes to drink it. Suprep and a large drink of water I swished in my mouth. Tastes like Flintstones chewables ground up in ocean water, has a HORRIBLE aftertaste. Cold and a straw are the key! My doctor had me take a Gas-X as soon as I finished drinking my prep so I didn’t experience the bloating, etc. Second dose I was ready! Mixed it up, ice-cold water, straw, this time a stocking cap and sweatshirt to help with the chills. Second dose worked almost immediately! Empty stomach works fast! In the bathroom an hour and a half, then it seemed to be over."

For Bowel Preparation "I was really anxious about using this prep. I went all out when I picked it up and also bought Tucks wipes and Vaseline. I did not end up needing to use either of them even once. This product felt very mild to me. No stomach cramping or nausea like with other laxatives, and I never had trouble making it to the bathroom in time. I even 'held it' a number of times with no issue. I made about 3 brief visits to the bathroom with each bottle. I did not experience any burning or pain at all, though I did have some chills, which was probably from chugging so much cold water! This prep was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I've heard it's the worst part of a colonoscopy, and I'm really hoping that's true! I'm about to head in for mine."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm a 42/female, and this was my first time using Suprep. I was nervous at first, but I found it to be a lot easier than expected. I've always had a very sensitive stomach, so I had a colonoscopy when I was 19, and then I had to use enemas, which was HORRIBLE, so I highly recommend this over the enema route. It wasn't too hard to get down. 'Salty cough med' is EXACTLY what it tastes like, so thanks to the other reviewers for their input. Helped me know what to expect. I felt a touch of queasiness at first, then chills and tummy rumbling. At the 45 min mark, I visited the bathroom to see if anything would happen. Sure enough, very easily it started. No straining or discomfort, but you won't leave the bathroom for a while. A.M. should be easy, I hope."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading several reviews prior to my prep, I was dreading the prep. However, my experience was nothing like most posts. The taste is not terrific, but it was tolerable at a slow pace (5 minutes to drink solution). I had no cramping and was very gentle. Suprep Bowel Prep certainly did its job. Had first BM within 1 1/2 hours after the first dose and subsequent BMs x 3 hours. Second dose acted much quicker (25 minutes) and was complete in 2 hours. I found the most difficult time was drinking the 32 oz following the initial 16 oz mixture, but I typically don't drink much water per day anyway, so this was extreme for me. Overall, no nausea, no chills, no cramping... very pleased."

For Bowel Preparation "Hate to admit that at 61, this is a first for me. Took the Suprep and water mix at 5 pm. Within half an hour or so, things started happening. Thought the drink itself was not that bad... kind of a salty 7-Up taste to me. Drinking the two 16 oz glasses of water in an hour afterward was tough... left me a little bloaty and cold with shivers and goosebumps. Overall, not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Round two starts around 10:15 am for a 2:15 check-in."

For Bowel Preparation "First dose went down pretty easy. I just held my breath and gulped it down. The 32 oz of water, though, was tough to get down within an hour, but I did. I started having movements about 1-1/2 hours after taking it, which lasted for about 3 hours. The second dose was another story!!! It was hard to get down, and the water was twice as hard to drink. I ended up throwing up 3 times. However, I guess I got enough down for a clear colonoscopy. Thank goodness!!! I also had dizziness and chills."

For Bowel Preparation "I found the Suprep very difficult to take. I followed a low fiber/light diet at least 3 days prior. The straw was somewhat helpful. But the buildup of whatever chemical they put in the prep was quickly overwhelming. I got through the first dose but threw up after drinking all the water. It started working after 5 minutes. I had a lot of discomfort, cramping, and chills. The cramping was relieved after I started going. I was disappointed it took so many trips to the bathroom. After starting the 2nd dose, the fluids started running clear. I did not finish all the second dose. I was happy to pour about the last one-quarter cup away and everything associated with it. My endoscopy and colonoscopy went fine. I will never do the Suprep again."

For Bowel Preparation "I researched this medicine a lot in preparation for my first colonoscopy. I have IBS, so even my laxatives can and often do send me into an attack. However, I want to share that this prep was not bad at all. It WILL clean you out. However, my doctor gave me nausea meds to take a half hour before drinking the meds, and I did great. The taste is pretty bad. But mix a pack of lemonade mix in with it and the water and hold your nose. I chased it with a sip of my favorite soda too. I barely tasted the medicine since I kept my nose pinched until I took a sip of my soda. It really isn’t bad at all. Make sure you use diaper cream and wipes and stay VERY close to the bathroom. I had no nausea, chills, or cramps. But I didn’t have much notice when I had to go, thus me saying stay very close to the bathroom."

For Bowel Preparation "I found the taste tolerable and drank it right down, easily consumed the two containers of water. I was surprised that it worked so quickly-like 15 minutes and bowel movements began. Second dose same. However, I experienced a racing heart at night and was cold, but went to sleep. During the actual colonoscopy, my heart rate went way up and also my blood pressure. I have no history of heart problems and usually have low blood pressure, not on any meds for the blood pressure. The nurse anesthesiologist called me to tell me this after I got home, suggesting I have a stress test, but I think it was caused by the Suprep. Have not read of anyone else having this problem, but will probably not use Suprep again-it did the job well and all, but maybe the magnesium is too much for my body. Glad they monitor you closely during the procedure!"

For Bowel Preparation "In the Harry Potter movies, there is a scene in which Dumbledore has to drink a vile liquid from a fountain on an island. He makes Harry vow to force him to drink it no matter how much he protests. This is EXACTLY how I felt. The smell of the mixture made me gag, but I got the first dose and 32 ounces of water down. It worked almost immediately. Stay in the bathroom. Just stay. Wear a long-sleeved shirt for warmth and nothing else. Listen to a book, watch a movie, whatever. Just do it in the bathroom. There was no time to get from a chair to the toilet without leaking. I had chills, was cold, and took a hot shower twice. After about 5 hours, I slept near the bathroom and did okay. At 7 am, I did it again to prepare for my 1:30 procedure. This time it was even tougher to get the mixture down. I couldn't drink the full 32 ounces of water because I was in the bathroom for the next three hours. I am really looking forward to anesthesia."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my first colonoscopy, and I am a big baby when it comes to liquid medicine. I hate the taste of liquid meds. I won't buy a liquid med. I was scared I would not be able to tolerate it when I had to use it. Yes, it tastes salty and sweet at the same time. I just held my nose and drank with a straw. I had it down in about 10 mins and 8 sips with some pep talk to myself. Put it in the fridge when you get it from the pharmacy, and mix with ice cold water. Suck on a lemon between sips. That was what saved me. It started to work about a half hour after my first sip. The worst part is you just go, not warning, it just comes out fast. I've had no cramps or chills. Hopefully, the second round is as easy."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first colonoscopy. I began my prep at 5:00 pm. I took the first 6 oz dose and mixed it with 10 oz of water, but then I combined all of that with 32 oz of lemon-lime Gatorade to help with the taste. I drank all of it in an hour, it wasn't bad at all. No nausea, no cramping, no pain. I had bad cold chills, so I had a heater next to me to help. By 7:30, I was feeling great, but I did drink over 100 oz of water because I was so thirsty. Then, I got a terrible headache from the artificial sweetener in the Suprep, so that made the next dose hard. I started it at 1 am, and I did the same-mixed Suprep, water, and 32 oz of Gatorade, and I got 3/4 of it down in the next hour, but I couldn't do any more of it because it did make me nauseated, and I was having the chills again, so I switched to water, and the nausea started to go away as I started to go to the bathroom. Overall, I was really scared of it, but it wasn't as bad as I expected."

For Bowel Preparation "In the middle of my first dose. After reading other reviews, I was positively dreading it. Now, it wasn't exactly tasty, but I just gulped it down and occasionally bit down a lemon wedge, which really helped. It wasn't until the last few swallows that I had to give it a bit more effort because the taste was getting to me. My doctor's office told me I could drink Gatorade instead of plain water after finishing prep bottle #1. I did not have anything cold because I prefer room temperature. It took 35 minutes to start working. It's been 2 hours, and I've gone four times with no cramping, chills, nausea, etc. Things are already starting to be more clear. I'm really glad for the low-fiber diet and for pushing fluids all day today. Not staying long on the pot either."
