For Bowel Preparation "I’ve had 3 previous colonoscopies. I hated them because I had to drink water mixed with powder, making it 128 ounces....so much to drink....dreadful taste! This time it was Suprep. On the great advice of posters, I chilled the solution, mixed it with lemon Propel water, and used a straw positioned in the back of my throat. One large factor was that I’ve been on a low-fiber diet for 3 days leading up to this. Yeah, you get hungry, but I did this the previous times, and it makes the event with less solid motions....just watery...plus you lose weight. With a slice of lemon at the ready, I began sucking in long amounts....finished it in 20 seconds....never really tasted it.....but still grabbed a lemon. Began its job in about 30 min....Have the 2nd bottle to go, but the anxiety is now low having done this once. No cramps.....no chills....no nausea....I was full of fear....not anymore."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading all the negative reviews, I was fearful about using it for my 5 yr colonoscopy. I'm 6'1" / 195 with no bowel problems, just a family history of colon cancer. I didn't find the taste as bad as most described-- I'm neutral about it. Rather than slow torture with straws, I mixed it with ice cold water and chugged it down with the two 16 oz water chasers in 10 minutes. The intake was no problem at all. I waited 2-1/2 hours for it to work. This was followed by 3 bathroom sessions from 8:30 to 9:30. These too were not as extreme as described in many reviews. Faucet descriptions are accurate, but I didn't have any cramping or nausea. At 3 am, it took 15 minutes to get all the next dose down. The ice cold mix gave me the chills, which lasted for an hour. I laid waiting for it to work, 2 hours later, bathroom visits began and were similar to my evening prep. Best advice: don't believe everything you read. I had very different results than most, and I would highly recommend this drug."

For Bowel Preparation "I have had UC/Crohn's for 30 years with colonoscopies every 1-3 years. This was the best prep I have ever used. The taste is acceptable, and the smaller quantity of fluids is very easy to handle. I just chugged it right down. It worked quickly-within the hour, no cramping, no chills, no headache. I used the split dose, and the only downside was getting up at 3 am because I had an early morning procedure scheduled. I will use this prep again; it was a breeze. I highly recommend it."

For Bowel Preparation "I took my first dose as directed at 6:00 pm. Didn't taste good, but I chugged it down and drank 32 more ounces of water. Had chills and lots of stomach rumbling, but no BM! And now it's almost 6 hours later and just chills and rumbling, but still no action. Supposed to take the second dose at 4:30 am, but I'll move that up to 3:00 am. Has anybody taken the first dose and... nothing?"

For Bowel Preparation "Yesterday was the Suprep Bowel Prep start. First round, I tried the lemon slice between gulps, an absolute must! Removes aftertaste quickly. For the 4 eight-ounce glasses of water, I mistakenly used cold, refrigerated water. I had the chills. All was okay, but heat was cranked in my place. Next morning, repeated the same pattern, minus refrigerated water. Much easier and more comfortable. This was my 3rd colonoscopy but my first Suprep. I prefer Suprep."

For Bowel Preparation "For what it does, this worked great. Mixed according to doc instructions (1 bottle, fill to 16 oz with water). Like others suggested, refrigerating it first seemed to help. USE A STRAW! I tried drinking it first, and it is pretty vile. With the straw, it went right down. I alternated a drink or two of Gatorade in between. Second dose was easier than first for me. Worked in 20 minutes or so, and did a perfect prep. No cramping, just a teeny tiny bit of nausea (probably from drinking so much liquid). The prep was nowhere near as bad as I thought - in fact, I thought it was a breeze. Just stay on the potty and have a lot of reading material. Get medicated wipes. Have a sweatshirt or something handy, as I got the chills in the am."

For Bowel Preparation "Just returned from the GI center for my colonoscopy, which they canceled due to a “bad prep.” My first time using Suprep. I’m 67 and have been faithful with my colonoscopy check-ups for 40+ years (having lost my father to colon cancer at 48 years young). This prep was the worst. Followed the instructions exactly, the exception being I chose to have a liquid diet 4 days prior (chicken broth, jello, ++hydration) mixed with Berry Propel and 32 oz additional water and an anti-nausea pill an hour prior (each dose). 1st dose 6 pm, bloating and chills, but no movement. 2nd dose 2 am, worse. Finishing the dose was near impossible. During the second 16 oz, I threw up everything. Finished 16 oz water, still no movement and very bloated. Up all night with little results. 7 am appointment, I needed the restroom two times, still not clear, suggested an enema, however, the doctor canceled the procedure when he discovered that I threw up the second dose and still did not have a clear evacuation. Not a happy camper with Suprep."

For Bowel Preparation "Certainly easier than the prep I used 10 years ago. I started prep at 4:00 pm and was still 'responding' at midnight. Second dose taken at 5:45 am and was much easier than the night before. Elimination was clear by 8:00 am. No nausea, cramping, just chills."

For Bowel Preparation "Had my first colonoscopy today and used Suprep. It wasn’t as gnarly as I thought it would be. First dose yesterday at 5, onset in 50 min, was in and out of the bathroom for about three hours, second dose at 6 am came on a bit quicker and had more output but only lasted for about 1.5-2 hrs. (The second dose is important. My stool ran brown after being clear last night. It was back to clear by the next “round” of the second dose working this morning). Try to go on a mush low-fiber diet for three days before the prep. And be hydrated. I gulped it down in two sips. It did give me the chills almost violently for a few minutes but that may be the body’s reaction? It wasn’t awful. No bloating or cramping (I took 2 simethicone (Gas-X) tabs with the water as soon as I gulped the prep. The doctor told me to and it helped I’d imagine). Don’t worry about the horror stories you can do this. It’s really not that bad. Just get it done."

For Bowel Preparation "I mixed the first drink at 6. It was vile. The only way I was getting it down was to chug it. I immediately chased it with a little water. I continued to sip the first cup of water, and then... I started violently vomiting. It was coming out the wrong end. After 2 hours of that, with me now having palpitations, sweating profusely, and retching. I called my doctor. He said, 'suck on a peppermint' (WHAT?!?). I begged him to call in an anti-nausea. It did nothing. I got worse. I had my husband call 911. I've been in bed for six days, four of them vomiting. I had to have three bags of fluid pumped into me. I had three different kinds of anti-nausea. Didn't help. I was shaking and shivering. There was talk of elevated blood counts. (I was in and out of it the whole time). My blood pressure at one point was 176/96. If I could give this negative 20 stars, I would. And I never got the procedure. My business has been shut down all week. This medication is dangerous and shouldn't be on the market."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my second colonoscopy with Suprep. Here are my tips to getting through: use a straw placed at the back of the throat and a swimmer's nose clip to minimize the awful taste. I also ate a low-residue diet for a couple of days before (e.g., chicken, pasta, eggs) so as to not have a lot to clean out. The stuff worked in about 20 minutes, and I was passing clear liquid well before the second dose, which did not go down as well. I started throwing it back up after only drinking about a third of the mix. I drank about 20 ounces of the 'follow-up' water and spent the next couple of hours on the throne passing more clear liquid. Had some chills and nausea with Suprep, but thankfully no headache. Thanks to all who shared their comments!"

For Bowel Preparation "After several bouts with diverticulitis (at age 43), a colonoscopy was ordered. I've drank Barium before, and it's much worse. The taste is like overly salted salt water with aluminum, Windex, and cherry-flavored cough syrup. I recommend chilling the solution and keeping a hard candy in your mouth while sipping lemon water or Sprite. My belly was very swollen and distended and had a brutal headache. That could be from a clear liquid-only diet for the last 48 hours. Suprep started clearing out after about 30 minutes. Still waiting for the second dose at 3 a.m. Make your restroom comfy: blanket (as I had severe chills), step stool for your feet, and laptop/tablet to bide your time. I tried to get up and lay in bed, but there's no warning: stay in there."

For Bowel Preparation "My first colonoscopy was yesterday. I am glad I found this site beforehand, as I used several suggestions. I chilled the solution, mixed it with room temp 7Up, divided it into 3 cups, drank with a large straw, and sucked on a lemon slice between each drink. It did work very fast. Went through the same procedure the next morning. I had no issues with chills, nausea, headache, or cramps. The hardest part was drinking the additional water after the first round of the solution."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my 3rd colonoscopy and the first time using this prep. The two previous times, I had used the Miralax/Gatorade 'gallon' prep, which was difficult to handle the massive volume of liquid. I found this prep terrible tasting (but so were the previous preps). This one was less consumption of volume. I didn't get any cramping, no chills like some others, and had no overall bad side effects. As far as the prep is concerned...make sure you use 'cold' ice water and not cold tap water when mixing it, as well as the follow-up 2 x 16 oz containers of water. The taste is very salty/sweet, and I recommend not breathing through your nose when downing the mixture."

For Bowel Preparation "This was not bad!! Mixed with Gatorade and took a mouthful gulp every 5 minutes. This prevented me from feeling nauseous!!! I read a lot of people on here swigged it down all at once and experienced chills, nausea - to be expected when you do that - it’s a lot of medicine for the body to handle!!! Easy does it!!! And in between sips, I sucked once on a lemon wedge coated in sugar, being careful not to ingest any pulp! It worked great! The taste is manageable!! It smells like cherry cough syrup and tastes like salty, liquid-soapy cherry cough medicine. It’s not great, but I managed and I really truly have a terrible gag reflex! My only concern is the possibility of the laxative not cleansing my colon properly since I have been constipated for a few days straight. But if I had to do the procedure over again with this prep kit, I know I would survive it! It’s really no big deal!! Do not make it worse than it has to be."

For Bowel Preparation "Added lemon Crystal Light and electrolyte water to the Suprep mix. Held my nose and drank it through a straw. After each long sip, I bit into a quartered lemon. Biting into the lemon really helped. The electrolyte water replaced my electrolytes and prevented a headache and chills. Definitely doable for me. Last colonoscopy was with MoviPrep, and I threw that up."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep worked really well, except the taste was terrible. Unless you like the taste of cherry-flavored medicine, the taste won't be a pleasant experience. Drinking with a straw helped, and cutting the taste with either ginger ale or Gatorade made it somewhat manageable. I started the liquid-only diet a full 24 hours before I had to drink the first bottle. There was no cramping, and it worked surprisingly quickly. I got the chills for a little, but they subsided as I continued to drink water. Tips: low fiber diet 3 days before, liquid diet full 24 hours before the first bottle drank, put in the freezer for a bit, use a straw, take your time drinking it."

For Bowel Preparation "This will be my first colonoscopy. I used many hints from the reviews here. I chilled the solution and mixed it with part water and part 7UP. It tasted like salty cherry soda. I divided it into three cups and used a large straw. I sucked on a lemon slice between each drink. I then drank all the extra water in a short time. It does work very fast. I started at 5:00 pm and was done by 10:00 pm. I had no headache, chills, cramping, or nausea. The second round was no trouble either. I am very glad I read reviews on here first."

For Bowel Preparation "Took first dose of Suprep last night at 6:00 p.m. Had only one movement and was wondering what was up after reading all the reviews for spending hours on the toilet. Went to bed and slept pretty well. Fast forward to 5:00 a.m. this morning. Took second dose as instructed and took a few of the previous tips such as sipping slowly (last night, I almost threw it up after drinking too fast), sipping water, and Berry Propel between the solution swigs. Wow, it took only about 30 minutes and wow, I have been on the toilet for the past hour. This stuff really works! I am remembering to use the petroleum jelly for the bum so as not to chafe. I am getting chills this morning, unlike last night. I hope the colonoscopy goes well this morning so I won’t have to think about this again for 5-10 years!"

For Bowel Preparation "If you have any GI issues, I strongly suggest not doing this prep. Embalming fluid couldn’t taste as bad. Premedicated with Zofran (to stop vomiting and nausea) and couldn’t get through half of the first bottle. Severe vomiting and diarrhea within ten minutes. Spent the next 24 hours with chills and a horrendous headache, followed by IV fluids. Absolutely no reason for a prep to be this harsh. Will never do Suprep again."

For Bowel Preparation "Pleasantly surprised to find that there are an awful lot of drama queens/kings and cry babies on here. The stuff really does not taste all that bad. Started by holding my nose only to end up casually sipping it. Only thing I will say is that you will do yourself a favor to camp out in the bathroom and make yourself as comfortable as possible. Bring a laptop, books, iPad, phone. You're going to be in there for a while. Also, a small heater and jacket for when you get some chills. Stay in there for as long as you're still going, otherwise, I can see how people would have accidents. Good luck!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I don't know why everyone is taking their doses so late. My doctor said to take it at 12 and 5. Last time I did this, I was up all night and was not going to do that again. I took my first dose by using a straw and drank it all at once, then drank water immediately afterward. It took effect 30 minutes later, and I was on the toilet for 2 hours straight. I had my iPad, phone, and petroleum jelly, so I decided why try running to the bathroom every few seconds. Took the second dose at 5, and everything was the same as the first one, only this time I was a lot more raw. Did get the chills on the second dose for a while. It's now 7:30, and hopefully things have slowed down, and I can get a good night's rest and get this over with at 7:45 tomorrow. Craving a cheeseburger and fries."

For Bowel Preparation "I just finished my first age-recommended colonoscopy. My experience was straightforward; no side effects, and Suprep worked. I was worried after reading some of the reviews here; it was easier than I anticipated. Things that worked well for me: 1. Refrigerate both the bottle of Suprep and the water you’ll mix it with. 2. Drink the Suprep/water mixture through a straw to bypass some of the taste buds. 3. Have a flavored beverage nearby while drinking the Suprep/water to cover the Suprep taste between swigs. I used Sprite once and orange Gatorade the second time. 4. Mix the post-Suprep water/beverage with Simethicone drops (1.8 ml = 3 droppersful per 16 oz water) to prevent problems with gas. 5. Coat your bum with Vaseline before you start drinking. 6. Use a bidet toilet seat if you have one. Fortunately, I didn’t have any nausea, cramping, chills, or gas that others have mentioned. You can do it! It’s really not bad."

For Bowel Preparation "I have several had procedures and have used 3 other preps, all of which are much better than this nasty stuff. The most horrible taste ever... I can't think of anything to compare. Then get it down and the water, sit and bloat and cramp for 3 hours, and then bingo. I went once about every 15 minutes for 4 hours. Then had chills and felt like I was hit by a big truck. I gave up and sucked down the second dose after 2 hours because I was sure that at 2 AM the second dose wasn't happening. I went off and on all night and just before my procedure at 7 AM the next morning. Warning: Your poor butt will burn like you are sitting in the fireplace. Yes, the wiping does irritate it, but I am convinced all the salt in this mixture is gas on the fire. I told my Doc never again."

For Bowel Preparation "I am so happy I looked up preparation suggestions a week ahead of time and began a low-residue diet ahead of time. I think that has made all the difference after reading comments here. Very little grease or spice in the 4-5 days leading up, no booze to dehydrate, and drank lots of fluids the day before Suprep. I also mixed with Powerade White Cherry thanks to a suggestion here and had homemade vegetable broth prepared and warmed to combat chills. I took Phenergan ahead of time and slept most of today while the medication took effect. It is disappointing that we have to turn to the internet to get a fully accurate picture of what we are in for when it comes to medical procedures, but glad this site exists. Happy pooing."
