For Bowel Preparation "I am having my first colonoscopy tomorrow at the age of 21, so I was very nervous about the prep for this. As absolutely awful as the Suprep tastes, the prep is nowhere near as bad as I expected. It kicked in about 20 minutes after the first awful batch, which tastes like you took Maraschino cherry juice and dumped a half a cup of salt in it and drank it. GROSS. But I went twice in about 30 minutes, then I would think I was done, and I'd start walking, and it would hit me again. It really hits you like a ton of bricks when you gotta go. But I went about 10 times, and now I'm only going about a half hour at a time. I started crampy and bloated. Drinking all the water and that taste made me a bit nauseous, but it went away after a couple of minutes."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep tastes like a nasty sour grape to me. Yuck! I wanted to vomit when drinking it. BUT... My original prep was Trilyte. That, to give you an idea, was 4 liters (4000 mL) that you had to drink. It made me very ill, and I began vomiting. The endoscopy center said that Trilyte was all that my insurance covers, but was able to find me a 'sample' of Suprep. I still had troubles with it. But it did not make me vomit. The troubles I had were: nausea, bloating, abdominal cramps, and headache. The positive side is that it really does work! It really cleaned me out. Also, I managed to not vomit while taking it. Also, it is half of the amount of Trilyte. There are 2 6 oz bottles that you dilute with cool water along with 2 more 16 oz waters each time."

For Bowel Preparation "First time using this stuff, and taking it was no better than the previous two times with the Gatorade Dulcolax mixture, which didn’t cost $115! Started at 3 pm and had one poop an hour later, but I instantly felt bloated and nauseous. It took 3 hours for the show to begin, and the show is brutal. It is midnight, and I just cleaned the bathroom for the fourth time. Honestly, six hours of this, and I still have a second bottle to drink? All of the comments talking about the taste and straws and using soft toilet paper miss the mark entirely for me. I’d say endure the entire procedure on the toilet and come equipped with your phone, a book, bleach, paper towels, and just go commando because when this stuff works, a distance of two feet from the toilet is too far. Everyone says the second bottle is harder and faster. I am supposed to take it at 3 am, and I need to be at the hospital at 6:45 for my colonoscopy, so I think I’ll move it up to 2 and just hope I clean out to empty in time."

For Bowel Preparation "I drank the first bottle right down, doesn't taste bad at all. It went down smooth. I immediately drank the two 16 oz cups of water. Felt bloated and a little nauseous, but that went away. It took a while for it to start working. Had lemon water ice, and the taste goes away immediately. I was extremely nervous about this because of the side effects more than anything. Have some cramping. Will take the next bottle at 10:00 pm. I hope it works faster and I can get some sleep. 7:45 am procedure. I don't even feel hungry after the whole day of just liquids."

For Bowel Preparation "Okay, I’m in the middle of the second prep. It is barely palatable...more on the side of not. I got through the first solution in about 15 minutes. And then the quart of water to rinse my mouth out. So the fireworks started about 15 minutes after the water. Had a LOT of bloating, which mostly went away after about an hour in the bathroom. Ugh. I just can’t do this. And yet I have to. I just want to cry."

For Bowel Preparation "My experience was good. I am 5'7" & weigh 135 lb. I took one and a half bottles of the prep, though directed to take both bottles, and it worked perfectly. Very gentle. No nausea, vomiting, or cramps. Bloating, yes, but brief as it worked quickly. You must drink two 16 oz glasses of water after each dose. Being well hydrated alleviates cramping & bad side effects. My two doses were 2 pm (1 bottle) and 8 pm (1/2 bottle). I liked this schedule because by 10:30 pm the ugliness was over. I slept the night without a bathroom visit. I have an irregular heartbeat for which I'm on Toprol XL. I did experience a brief episode of a racing heartbeat when I awoke, but it subsided. I am certain it was the prep as that isn't typical. Cons: awful taste that makes you cringe; the taste remains in your mouth the next day despite tooth brushing. Pros: gentle, no painful cramps, fast acting, and, for me, the cleansing took less time than past prep solutions."

For Bowel Preparation "This prep was terrible with Suprep bowel prep. I have colon cancer that runs in my family history and take colonoscopies seriously as a preventative measure. However, I would not prep again using this stuff and would insist on going back to the old method with Gatorade and over-the-counter laxatives. Suprep bowels prep tasted disgusting and salty even when mixed with Crystal Light. And I started at 5 pm, and it took till 11 pm for it to finally kick in. I felt bloated and nauseous and wanting to throw up until 11 pm. Due to how long it took to kick in, I was up literally all night going to the bathroom. So I got no sleep. I wasn't finished till about 8 pm the next morning. The old method is definitely kinder to your system and works faster."

For Bowel Preparation "Did my first dose at 5 pm, and it took an hour to work. I was so bloated after drinking 32 oz. I mixed mine with strong orange Kool-Aid and put a teaspoon of honey on my tongue. I drank mine last, then a minute. Also, I used two straws and put them deep in my throat. I hardly tasted anything."

For Bowel Preparation "Tastes like tonic water & wild berry Kool-Aid mix! Made the mistake of downing the first batch all at once and, as noted, felt bloated and slightly nauseous. Worked within 20 minutes and ended 2-1/2 hours later with 'muddy' running water. Currently going through 2nd batch. Missed my coffee & waffles this morning, and boy does my stomach rumble!"

For Bowel Preparation "Last colonoscopy 10 years ago was Golytely, which was a lot to drink but got a good prep. With the Suprep, as soon as I took it, got severe abdominal pain and bloating, but no results. I got up early to take the second dose, more pain, bloating, no results. Finally had some mediocre results about an hour before the procedure, but I knew I would not be clean. I took enemas and they were able to do a partial procedure, but rescheduled in 30 days. Later that evening, had severe abdominal pain, a temp of 101, low BP, and shaking chills, then ended up in the hospital for observation and fluids. This prep may work for some, but for me, it was like poison and not effective."

For Bowel Preparation "This gets a rating of 5 because it is absolutely the worst-tasting stuff I have ever tried to drink. On effectiveness, I would give it a 10. The taste is horrid, though. I didn't get stomach cramps or bloated. Within 10 minutes of drinking, I was on my way to the bathroom. But the more of this 14 oz I drank, the harder it became. I didn't get it all down. I knew my limit, and if I continued, I would have lost what I had already consumed. I'm dreading my 5 am dose in the morning."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my 5th colonoscopy and 5th different prep. I was happy it was only 16 oz. twice. However, 15 minutes after the 5:00 dose, I was physically ill, which never happened with the other preps I have used. By 7:30, I vomited after willing it to stay down that long. When the 9:00 dose came along, I tried to sip it between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. I got 8 oz. down and literally projectile vomited at 10:00. Nothing else was going down. Like many others, I had a headache, bloating, and cramps. Bottom line, I was sick from the prep. The nurse the next day said she has heard this from many people, and I was possibly allergic to it. I would not recommend this to a first-timer. Nor will I ever use it again. I would rather drink the gallon prep."

For Bowel Preparation "So I’m only 20 years old and unfortunately had to undergo this process because of some bizarre stomach problems I was having. That aside, I was EXTREMELY nervous about the procedure and the prep, and while I can say it wasn’t pleasant, it definitely was far from unbearable. The solution itself isn’t too bad tasting, smells like cough syrup and does have some cherry flavoring in it, but to me, it wasn’t salty like some people said. The first dose went okay, I tried taking it fast, finishing it in about 15 minutes. I felt slightly nauseous, but I couldn’t tell you whether that was because of how fast I drank it or if it was an effect of the prep. A lot of people recommend taking this prep slowly, and with something like Sprite or 7 Up between sips, I’ll probably try this for my second dose. Overall, not horrible, worst part was taste and a bit of bloating, otherwise definitely not awful. As for the procedure itself, I’m not worried, after all, I’ll be asleep!!"

For Bowel Preparation "Pros: excellent results - thoroughly cleaned color; two portions of 16 oz. Cons: TASTE, chills, bloating, and the long time it took to cleanse (I took the second portion at 1:30 and was still going at 6 a.m. for a 7:30 procedure). Important to note: each person's reaction is unique. Don't let the reviews scare you. At the endoscopy center, everyone was comparing notes about the product they used, and there didn't seem to be a consensus as to which product was the best."

For Bowel Preparation "I’ve used Suprep for two colonoscopies. Tastes awful and is hard to choke down. Makes me feel like vomiting for about an hour. Causes cramping, bloating, abdominal pain. But does the trick. For me, diarrhea begins about 3 hours after taking it and lasts for 2-3 hours, intermittently. Pop a movie into your laptop. It’ll help pass the time! Second dose is rough. You often have to do it in the wee hours of the morning. Laying down after my dose gave me awful heartburn or reflux, but it was impossible to stay upright at 4 am."

For Bowel Preparation "For my last colonoscopy 10 years ago, I took pills. Real easy. But this time, the Dr. said he doesn't prescribe those, that they cause kidney failure. So Suprep it is. I was instructed to ignore the instructions on the box, drink the first at 2 pm, take Ducolax at 4 pm, then the other bottle at 6 pm. So I mixed it up and sipped. Ugh! Took me 20 minutes to get the first bottle down. Started working in 30 minutes. Drank the 32 oz of water as instructed. I found this site to figure out how to get the second bottle down without losing my mind. Had my wife get some lemons, and I had some jello and broth while working the 2nd bottle of this foul stuff. Took another 25 minutes to finish. Worked pretty fast. Symptoms I experienced are all the same: chills, bloating, and some nausea. As of this writing, it's been 2 hours since finishing the 2nd bottle, and I'm mostly done with the bathroom races. Now all I have to do is wait 14 hours for the appointment."

For Bowel Preparation "First time using this prep, and it does work much better than others. It is the most disgusting, foul-tasting thing I've ever had. If I have to use it again, I may try some of the tips I've seen here, like the lemons. After getting the first dose down, it took about 45 minutes to start. The second dose was the hardest to get down. I guess because I knew how bad it was going to be. Almost didn't keep it down. Drinking this and the 32 oz of water in an hour makes you bloated for sure. I did get a headache, but that may have come from being dehydrated, which I was by the time I got to my appointment."

For Bowel Preparation "Vile, disgusting taste. I had to add lemon powder and hold my nose to drink without vomiting. It took 20 min. to get it down. I hate to drink water and had a tough time drinking the required 32 oz. of water in 1 hour after the Suprep. It did take effect in 40 min. I was also very bloated. I do not know if I can manage to drink the second dose tonight. I will have to find a way."

For Bowel Preparation "I was really nervous about the prep for my colonoscopy, but I am pleased to say it isn't as scary as I thought it would be. The Suprep was gross and tasted like grape cough syrup, but it could have been a lot worse. Within 15 minutes, I started having bowel movements. The only side effect I've felt is bloating and cramps, but it goes away the more you go to the bathroom. I did a liquid diet today, so I'm hoping that will help. I have some chills, but that's probably because of all the water you have to drink. They will go away. So overall, not bad. Of course, I have just started this process, but after reading up, it wasn't nearly as awful as I imagined."

For Bowel Preparation "This is the worst tasting prep I have EVER prepped with. It tastes like grape Kool-Aid and salt water. My stomach is distended and cramping. This is my third or fourth colonoscopy. This so far feels and tastes the worst. Not sure how well the prep works, I've only done the first half. At this point, I don't care as long as I get some relief from the bloating soon!!!"

For Bowel Preparation "This prep is horrible. It smells like berries but tastes like berries and a horrible melted pill. The taste wouldn’t get off my tongue. I couldn’t even finish 1/3 of the drink (prep and water) before I vomited 5 times within 3 seconds. My stomach bloated and it did nothing. Finally had to do an enema (doctor suggested) and spent 4 hours on the toilet. It’s the next morning and I called the doctor’s office, the nurse told me to take an anti-nausea med and put ice in the drink and try again. I don’t want to have gone through all the hell for nothing. This is my 9th colonoscopy, and all the other preps have never caused the issues like this one did. I would not suggest Suprep for anyone."

For Bowel Preparation "Yes, it's disgusting. I wanted the Miralax non-tasting gross drink, but my doctor, who I do like very much, said no. Gross, but kept it down, drank it fast as I could, drank the 32 oz of water after, bloated as could be. Took about 2 hours to go to the toilet. Then the explosions came, till it just looked like yellow pee. I tried to lay down between poops, as I was feeling wiped, but after a few mishaps, realized I need to stay closer to the toilet. The rug has stains now, but it's okay, it's time for a new one anyhow. The next morning, I did part 2 of the prep, and yeah, it was more revolting than the first time, but it went quicker. Gross and everything you can imagine, but so well worth it to hear 'all is clear and clean.' Just do it, I did it 2 times before, and this time waited one year too long, and I'm just grateful all is good to go. Came home, slept, and ate my favorite meal of steamed veggies and brown rice. I so missed this the days before when I had to eat low fiber, so... Just do it!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I read a review that said it tasted like 'salty soup'!!! Well, that's certainly NOT how I would describe the taste. It was so bad it hurt my teeth! This is the first time using this product, used something much less gag-inducing last time. I feel poisoned, my body aches, my head aches, weakness is almost debilitating, bloated, burping, abdominal pain. Dear God, how am I going to be able to drink the next bottle??? Not to mention it only induced approx a cup of water at a time. I don't know how that will 'clean' me out for the procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "Terrible taste. Had to hold my nose and drink 1/4 cup at a time and then immediately drink some chicken broth. Anything sweet afterwards (like Gatorade) tasted horrible. Kept it down, though. Some bloating that went away after things started moving. I couldn't keep generic Nulytely down at all. This was a success, however, I wouldn't want to do it every week."

For Bowel Preparation "Prepping for my 3rd colonoscopy. 1st was in 2003 and used (per doctor's orders): 2 Dulcolax pills, 1 enema, and magnesium citrate with a gallon of water. Miserable experience. New doc in 2013 and used Suprep (doc's orders). Far easier than the 2003 routine. Today, prepping with Suprep. Don't remember it tasting so awful! Maybe I shouldn't have read all the 'reviews' beforehand, LOL. But they were very entertaining! I don't think the lemon helped, it's just another bitter taste. Tried alternating slugs of prep and Sprite, but that just made me burp, and who needs to 'revisit' that awful Suprep taste?! Best method for me is one swig prep, one swig apple juice. I wouldn't recommend chugging it, but it's torture to sip it. Straw no help. Worst part was getting 32 oz of water down within 1 hour of drinking prep...ugh...I was so bloated! Things started moving within 20 minutes, and all done in about 1 hour. Round Two awaits! Good luck, everyone ☺"
