For Bowel Preparation "I was not totally cleaned out, but still passed. I took a stool softener 2 days before my colonoscopy. My last solid meal was eggs and a piece of jelly on toast before I started a 32-hour liquid diet. I followed Suprep instructions. I used spearmint gum and lemon Italian ice to help me drink the prep. By the time I finished the other two 16 oz cups of cold water in an hour, I had to go. I sat on the john about 3 lengthy times before I finally stopped going. The next morning, around 6 am, I repeated the same instructions with the second bottle. I was surprised when my poo did not come out clear at first, but by the time I was finished, it appeared clear. I stopped drinking 2 hours prior to the colonoscopy, which was at 1:30 pm. I still felt bloated, but I could not go any more. I’m a female, 65 years of age, 5’8”, 153 lbs, 1st time colonoscopy. I had twilight anesthesia, I did not feel a thing during or afterward. I had gas, but mild and easy to release."

For Bowel Preparation "Had my first colonoscopy today and used Suprep. It wasn’t as gnarly as I thought it would be. First dose yesterday at 5, onset in 50 min, was in and out of the bathroom for about three hours, second dose at 6 am came on a bit quicker and had more output but only lasted for about 1.5-2 hrs. (The second dose is important. My stool ran brown after being clear last night. It was back to clear by the next “round” of the second dose working this morning). Try to go on a mush low-fiber diet for three days before the prep. And be hydrated. I gulped it down in two sips. It did give me the chills almost violently for a few minutes but that may be the body’s reaction? It wasn’t awful. No bloating or cramping (I took 2 simethicone (Gas-X) tabs with the water as soon as I gulped the prep. The doctor told me to and it helped I’d imagine). Don’t worry about the horror stories you can do this. It’s really not that bad. Just get it done."

For Bowel Preparation "This is some of the most awful tasting stuff in the world. The first dose I mixed with apple juice. It was still so salty, and the aftertaste made me shake and cringe. I felt bloated, nauseated, and dizzy until I started pooping. It took 1 and 1/2 hours to work. I have pooped from 7:30 pm until time for my next dose at 5:30 AM. The medicine worked wonderfully, but it tastes so awful that I immediately began gagging and shaking when I opened the second bottle. I'm soooooo nauseated. It's awful stuff, but it does the job!"

For Bowel Preparation "This will be my 2nd colonoscopy. My 1st was 5 years ago (no polyps!). Used the dreaded Golytely that time. Was instructed to mix the Golytely with raspberry lemonade Crystal Lite. It was awful! Almost not doable. Suprep was much better. This time using Suprep. Everything about it was better! The 1st dose was at 6:00 pm. Mixed with cold water, not fun but got it down without too much complaining! Started 'going' within 30 minutes, done in 2 hours. No cramping, no bloating, no problems. 2nd dose at 3:45 am. Have to admit I couldn't get the last 1/2' down, figured I better quit while I was ahead! The effect wasn't as fast or as dramatic as the 1st dose. Again, no issues."

For Bowel Preparation "First, I thought it was interesting that some describe cherry and some grape. For me, I opened the bottle and loved the grape smell. I was sure this was going to be fine. WTF, do the folks that invented this crap not have taste buds? Really horrible, salty vomit, leaving my taste buds crying. I almost immediately bloated out badly. Luckily, that didn't last long, the stuff worked fast. I still had the second prep to go, so I went searching for some advice. The best part of my day was on this site, feeling like I wasn't alone in my suffering. I called my husband to bring home a lemon, that certainly helped, but the chilling water and the lemonade mix didn't seem to help at all. Never again!"

For Bowel Preparation "I had to use this product not for a colonoscopy but just to clean out the system before starting new meds. The drink was horrible, the bloating was unreal, and it took forever to start working. I would definitely not use this again and go another route for a bowel prep."

For Bowel Preparation "I have had numerous scopes done since 2006, this, by far, has been the most palatable. Still gross, but much better than all the other ones prior. I read the reviews, hoping to not sway my decision in the negative since this was a new prep for me. The tips that do help are making sure the drink is cold, using a straw, mixing it with Sprite/water also, and having a slice of lemon to suck on between drinks as needed. After the first hour, plan on parking on a toilet! You will feel bloated, burps, slight headache, and keep a supply of latex gloves and Vaseline nearby with non-scented wipes. And a good supply of TP! Good luck."

For Bowel Preparation "Started at 3:00 pm with the initial solution. Took me 15 minutes to finish. Started 1st glass of water at 3:40 pm. Started 2nd glass of water at 4:00 pm and completed by 4:15 pm. Had mild cramping and stomach bloat. Released a lot of gas before producing watery stool at 5:10 pm. Continued passing watery stool for another hour. Completed BMs at 6:15 pm. Drank small amounts of apple juice between sessions. Repeated 2nd stage at 8:00 pm. By 9:45 pm I was done producing watery stools. Did have a little accident at 10:15 pm. So be sure when you're done."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my first colonoscopy, and the prep was not as bad as I imagined. My procedure was scheduled in the afternoon, so my dosing schedule was 7 pm the night before and 6 am the day of. The Suprep tastes bad, but it’s not unbearable. I put a scoop of (yellow) lemonade powder mix into the mixture, added some ice chips, and drank it as quickly as possible with a straw. I drank the required 32 oz of water over the next 30 minutes, and about an hour after drinking the Suprep, the “faucet” opened. I had no trouble making it to the bathroom and no leakage. I was on the toilet every 10-30 minutes for about 3 hours, then a couple of more times after that. I got decent sleep, then woke up for round 2. At the suggestion of some websites I visited, I applied some Vaseline after wiping and am very glad I did! Overall, some gurgling, bloating, and minor cramping, but not bad. Bottom line (pun intended) is that it’s better to prep for a colonoscopy than chemotherapy. You got this!"

For Bowel Preparation "I was glad at first that I did not have to drink that gallon of stuff I had to for my last one. I started the first 16 oz. mixed... thought it smells a little grape-like. I guzzled about 1/4 and almost could not handle it, got down to the last few sips and my throat did not want to swallow anymore, I had to will it to. It was fairly effective, within about 30 mins. It is now going on 9:00 and I am having the worst stomach pains, bloating, and extended tummy. The pains come in waves, and my whole stomach aches. If there is a least common side effect, I will have it, but as I read in the booklet, it is not that uncommon. I have another bottle to look forward to at 3 a.m. My next one... bring on the gallon."

For Bowel Preparation "Read all the reviews and just dreaded my appointment. However, good news, the taste is not as bad as previous preparations I had to drink that were thick and briny. True that this is very sweet. I mixed it with Crystal Light lemonade. I used a straw to take large sips and then cut up a lemon to suck on in between sips to get rid of the aftertaste. It worked great as I had no problem getting it down. The problem is the two 16 oz bottles of water afterward, as you already feel bloated. Again, I used a straw and the water quickly went down. My advice is to sit on the toilet as you are drinking the water because it tends to go right through you. I took the first prep at 5 pm, and it started to work within 20 minutes. Second prep due at 3 am."

For Bowel Preparation "I got prep down within 15 minutes, then I drank 32 ounces of water over the next 30 minutes - they told me I had to get this all down within one hour - all of a sudden my stomach got bloated and started making noises, and then the nausea came full force with mouthwatering and fierce chills, and I ran to the bathroom and I vomited twice. I never expected this to happen because I never read the reviews until now. 45 minutes later, I had a little bit of diarrhea, then a regular bowel movement, then about an hour later watery diarrhea, then full force liquid. Woke up at 4 AM nervous and did the 5 AM dose, this time holding my nose as I took five swigs each time, followed by water swishing around my mouth to get the taste out. Prep works faster the second time."

For Bowel Preparation "As far as bowel prep goes, I’d say this was a fairly pleasant experience. The medicine itself tastes like water and slightly salty grape Kool-Aid. Not the most pleasant, but it was absolutely doable. Results began about 15 min after my first dose. Slight nausea immediately following the completion of each dose, but it dissipated very quickly. Aside from that and a bit of a bloated feeling in my abdomen, I have no complaints! Mind over matter, people, you can do it!!"

For Bowel Preparation "57-year-old woman. Began prep early. If time allows, taper your pre-test diet - you'll be glad you did! No red meat or fried foods 4 days before, chicken and veggies 3 days before, no meat, dairy, or whole grains 2 days before, then only approved clear liquids the day before as per Suprep instructions. Filled prescription early and chilled thoroughly. Took anti-nausea meds 1 1/2 hours before I began drinking prep each time. Drank cold mixture as quickly as possible with a straw, then brushed my teeth. Chased with sips of cold water at a more comfortable pace. Finished within allotted time. Taste was not pleasant, but not so nasty as I feared. Lots of burping within 15 minutes. I experienced mild cramping as the potion began to do its job. Began to empty at the 1-hour mark. Cramping stopped with first bowel motion. Watery yellow stools continued almost nonstop for the first hour, then tapered off, ending after 3 hours for a total of 4 hours from start to finish. I was able to rest until time for round two. Took second chilled dose 10 hours later. Tasted worse, perhaps because my tongue recognized the taste. Felt bloated before I got halfway through, so wasn't able to chug the prep this time; chased with all 32 oz of cold water. This made me so cold I had to find a sweater! No cramping this time, but more burping. Bright yellow liquid output began in less than an hour. Emptying and burping continued for an hour. 2 hours start to finish."

For Bowel Preparation "Lawd! This stuff is ghastly! Barely got the 1st dose down with some minor gagging, but then the gas, cramps, and bloating started. After 30 minutes, it was working, so that was good because I vomited almost all of the 2nd dose. This is my 4th colonoscopy and by far the worst. I will find another prep next time."

For Bowel Preparation "I finished my first bottle about 40 minutes ago. The taste was horrible, but I read other posts and used two straws and plugged my nose. Difficult to get more water down afterwards because of bloating. Nothing happening yet, but a little bit of stomach pain. I hate to use an old adage, but... they can put a man on the moon...! Kudos to any drug company that can get this down to a few pills or, at the very least, a couple of ounces (versus 12 oz in split doses). It's going to be VERY difficult to get that second bottle down tomorrow on an empty stomach."

For Bowel Preparation "2nd screening colonoscopy. Last one 11 years ago, and the prep then was pretty stressful. This time, it went great. Sipped the 1st dose at 6:00 PM, thought it was not working, then bam! At 3:00 AM, the 2nd dose was downed in one tip of the cup. I did notice adding additional water cups with the 1st dose kept me going for two hours. 2nd dose I stuck to the plan. No side effects others are seeing. No headache, no bloating, no cramping. Just a successful prep with an all clear at procedure time."

For Bowel Preparation "Overall, this prep isn't too bad. This is my first colonoscopy, so I was nervous about the prep and the procedure. This stuff doesn't taste good, but it's relatively easy to get down, just make sure you chill it. After the first dose, it started working within about 10 minutes. I took the first dose at 5 pm, and my last bathroom trip was at 1:30 am. I just took my second dose at 8 am for a 2 pm procedure. The second round is a lot better. I got bloating and cramps, but no headache so far like a couple of others. The worst part is the no eating. At this point, I'm not so worried about the actual procedure as much as I'm just ready for it to be done so I can eat!"

For Bowel Preparation "The taste isn't that awful, however, I highly recommend taking it cold, and I swished ginger ale in my mouth after each chug and then spit it out. Helped with the taste. It kicked in really quickly, like 15 minutes after I finished drinking it. It's been 2 hours, and I'm still going, but it's clear. I would suggest living in the bathroom for a few hours. I couldn't go far without having to go that first hour. I didn't have any cramps or bloating or any other side effects. If anything, I feel better than I did before I started. The prep and all that water sort of filled me up."

For Bowel Preparation "This stuff tastes so bad. As others have said, why should it? Barf me out the door! But it works. As others have said, just do it. Don't make ANY plans. Take a sick day or two if you can. The second dose temporarily gave me a bloated, sore tum. Baby wipes are mandatory. As are separate bathrooms, nothing new there. There is like a quinine aftertaste that I am trying to attach a positive memory to, gin and tonic on a summer sunset sail. Anyway, the procedure is in less than 4 hours. Good luck, everyone!"

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep is far easier than the jug of prep I had 10 years ago! First dose at 6 p.m. No way to expect this to taste 'good.' It's medicine. It's unpleasant, but not impossible. Things kicked in around 6:45-ish and didn't slow down until 9:00-ish. I was in bed at 10 and got 6 hours of decent sleep. Second dose at 5:45 a.m. Harder to get down. Felt nauseous and had to use 'mind over matter' to get it all down. Felt bloated with some cramping and gas after drinking all the water. The second dose kicked in around 6:15 a.m. and slowed around 8:00. I was able to check in for my procedure at 10:45 a.m. with no 'accidents' on the way there. It works, but it's not 'fun.' Plan to camp in the bathroom, prepare mentally, and consider yourself cleansed!"

For Bowel Preparation "Took the first dose at 3:00, took 20 minutes to start working. In the bathroom for 3 hours. The first hour and a half to two hours, there was no leaving the toilet. Last hour, I had about 10 minutes between visits. I had cold chills, the doctor said this is normal. HINT: Mix Suprep with ice-cold water and drink through a straw. I gave myself 5 minutes to drink it. Suprep and a large drink of water I swished in my mouth. Tastes like Flintstones chewables ground up in ocean water, has a HORRIBLE aftertaste. Cold and a straw are the key! My doctor had me take a Gas-X as soon as I finished drinking my prep so I didn’t experience the bloating, etc. Second dose I was ready! Mixed it up, ice-cold water, straw, this time a stocking cap and sweatshirt to help with the chills. Second dose worked almost immediately! Empty stomach works fast! In the bathroom an hour and a half, then it seemed to be over."

For Bowel Preparation "Folks, not nearly as bad as many say it is. Yes, I had to shout that first sentence. With trepidation, after reading many of the reviews on here that claimed the Suprep was the most foul liquid they had ever consumed, I mixed the 6 oz. liquid with 10 oz. of cold tap water. I tentatively sipped it and, upon learning that it tasted like weak, slightly salty grape Kool-Aid, I was able to down the substance in two 8 oz. measures. Either I have a stronger tolerance than many here, or they just exaggerate a wee bit, it just wasn't bad at all. I think the worst part was trying to drink the following quart of water in the next hour. I had a bloated, waterlogged feeling in my gut, but other than that, it was a walk in the park. Got cleaned out quickly."

For Bowel Preparation "At first, I was hesitant about taking it from just the thought of having diarrhea. I manned up. The taste is like a chalky grape. It started about an hour after drinking the first bottle and the two 16 oz of water. The only discomfort is I'm bloated and having small stomach cramps, but nothing I can't handle."
