For Bowel Preparation "I took the Suprep at 6:00 p.m. The taste was unpleasant but avoidable. I found that pinching my nose, closing my eyes, and chasing the drink with Gatorade cut the aftertaste completely. I was a bit nauseated for the first 15 minutes and had my first bowel movement in the first 20. I did not eat for 48 hours before taking this and drank plenty of water in preparation. I took my second dose again at 9. This time, I was on the toilet more frequently. It took me two drinks to get it down. Overall, I dreaded this experience, and it was nowhere near as awful as I had foreseen! My first colonoscopy is tomorrow, and I've heard that the prep is the worst part. It's 1:15 a.m., and I'm still having bowel movements, but they're clear!"

For Bowel Preparation "47 y/o male. This colonoscopy prep was much better than the ones I've used in the past. It tastes terrible, but it's a relatively small amount to drink compared to preps I've used in the past. Started working in about 15 minutes. Worst part is having to get up in the middle of the night to take the second dose."

For Bowel Preparation "Just had my colonoscopy yesterday. Suprep was mixed with real cold water (left a water bottle in the freezer for 30 minutes) and mixed. It tastes horrible and has a kind of viscous consistency. Took about five minutes to get it all down in three gulps at a time. Drank lemon-lime Gatorade instead of the water to keep electrolytes up. At 60 minutes it was showtime. For the next two hours, shuttled back and forth to the toilet. That night I put the prep bottle in the fridge. That and super cold water and a large bore straw (removed from a CamelBak bottle) made the drinking easier. Consumed in a few minutes."

For Bowel Preparation "Male - age 77 - have several 'cleanouts' over the years. I was dreading this due to some of the comments. WRONG. Except for the taste - not so bad. A bit salty. I just added the water and chugged away. - Followed up with 2 x 16 oz bottles of cold water right away. 1st dose @ 5 pm. pretty much 'empty' but not clear by 7:45 pm. (Kinda worried wasn't gonna work) -- slept restlessly worrying about 'losing it'. ---- Next morning dose @ 6 am. Finished 2 x water bottles by 6:15. -- was pretty much just clear by 7:30 am. Clear green by 10:00 am appt. -- MUCH better than the Dulcolax tabs + 14-day bottle of Mira-Lax in 64 oz Gatorade drank in 2 hrs!!! USE A DAB OF PREP-H CREAM/OINTMENT LAST WIPE EACH TRIP."

For Bowel Preparation "First time for colonoscopy. I researched a lot beforehand, so I felt somewhat prepared. I bought lots of clear liquids, toilet paper, baby wipes, and Aquaphor. I did clear liquids for 2 days instead of 1 because I don't want to do this again for a long time! This stuff tasted bad, even though I chilled it and drank it with a straw. I had a Gatorade handy and drank a sip after every 4-5 gulps, and that helped a lot. I didn't take a break but just drank it all until it was gone. Then I drank about 36 ounces of sparkling water and some Gatorade. It took effect about 45 minutes later. I stayed in or near the bathroom until the effect subsided about 3 hours later. I'm resting now and will take the second dose around 4:00 a.m., and my procedure is at 10:00."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep worked really well, except the taste was terrible. Unless you like the taste of cherry-flavored medicine, the taste won't be a pleasant experience. Drinking with a straw helped, and cutting the taste with either ginger ale or Gatorade made it somewhat manageable. I started the liquid-only diet a full 24 hours before I had to drink the first bottle. There was no cramping, and it worked surprisingly quickly. I got the chills for a little, but they subsided as I continued to drink water. Tips: low fiber diet 3 days before, liquid diet full 24 hours before the first bottle drank, put in the freezer for a bit, use a straw, take your time drinking it."

For Bowel Preparation "Attempted multiple times to submit a comment. Interesting. I know medicine can be difficult. I underwent cancer treatment with the help of caring doctors. Even the most difficult treatments can be humanely administered. This prep for a very basic procedure is much more difficult than it has to be. The taste is horrific, like drinking salt water. Ridiculous."

For Bowel Preparation "This is the third time that I have used Suprep. Used oral colonic lavage before that. The first dose had me running to the bathroom within 2 hours of taking it. Once I got by the taste, it worked fine. One recommendation to first-time users: Get yourself a small box of Depends underwear for those moments when you just might not get there in time. Use and throw out!"

For Bowel Preparation "Tasted like grape Kool-Aid with a bleach chemical undertone. It wasn't pleasant to drink, but whatever, just got it down 2 extra 16 oz cups of water. Once it all took effect an hour later, I had to keep going to the toilet every few minutes, which went on for a couple of hours, and after a while it was just liquid. The worst part was having to get up at 4 AM to do the whole ordeal again. And I was still runny by 1 pm, nearly 9 hours later. So the second dose really needs to be way before the appt. And the fasting is tough. Doctor said I was totally clean, though. Colonoscopy showed a perfectly healthy smooth colon. Luckily, I don't likely need to do this again for another 5-10."

For Bowel Preparation "Read all the reviews and just dreaded my appointment. However, good news, the taste is not as bad as previous preparations I had to drink that were thick and briny. True that this is very sweet. I mixed it with Crystal Light lemonade. I used a straw to take large sips and then cut up a lemon to suck on in between sips to get rid of the aftertaste. It worked great as I had no problem getting it down. The problem is the two 16 oz bottles of water afterward, as you already feel bloated. Again, I used a straw and the water quickly went down. My advice is to sit on the toilet as you are drinking the water because it tends to go right through you. I took the first prep at 5 pm, and it started to work within 20 minutes. Second prep due at 3 am."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm a very anxious person, so I was scared about the prep. The stuff tastes bad, but with small sips, got each dose done within 20 minutes. Took a wee taste of honey after each 3-4 sips. The aftertaste goes away fast. 1st dose started working in 30 min, took about 4 hours until done. First two trips were nastiest, then got clear. Second round at 1:30 AM worked faster and for less time. I fell asleep at 4:00 AM no problems, although I slept on a towel. Tips: eat lightly the 2 days before, no fiber; start to put Vaseline on your bum a day in before. All told, I've been WAY sicker in Mexico, etc.; drinking was the worst, bathroom not bad; found 4 polyps - 52 yo female, good health habits, so very surprised. Do the best with prep and do the test."

For Bowel Preparation "Had to use Suprep for a routine colonoscopy. My first dose was at 5:00 in the evening, and I was kind of freaked out because of the reviews of how awful this stuff tasted. Mixed it up and chugged it down. Yeah, the taste was bad, but I got through it. Biting a lemon slice helped. The hard part for me was drinking the additional 32 ounces of water in the next hour. That's a lot of liquid to put into a stomach. I spent a lot of time in the bathroom during the course of the evening. Then I repeated the whole process at 2:00 a.m. Fun times. The good news: It was very effective. No intestinal cramping. No vomiting."

For Bowel Preparation "To everyone afraid of the taste... If you have had other bad-tasting meds or the barium drink before a CAT scan, you will laugh at how NON bad this medicine tastes. It’s, of course, not pleasant but is not remotely in the same ballpark as the other ones. My guess is a lot of people who are healthy for the most part are the ones complaining, as they don’t have hours of diarrhea on a regular basis, because this is actually a nice clean out. Takes about an hour to kick in, about 2-3 hours of going, but with breaks in between. Just don’t stray very far."

For Bowel Preparation "I have been nervously awaiting this test for over five years, so tomorrow morning it will be done and over with. The prep was not as bad. Aftertaste was the worst part... I did my first half at 3:00 pm. I had no food except two Pedialyte popsicles and a can of chicken broth. The broth was grosser than the drink. I mixed the prep with water, then added ice cubes with the last inch of it. I did put it in another container with a lid and straw, got it down, then drank 33 oz of water with ice cubes."

For Bowel Preparation "The prep kit worked great and I was very pleased with its effectiveness. My only complaint is that it tasted horrible! Bad enough to consider not using it next time. I'm writing this review to hope at some point the manufacturer will consider a better-tasting alternative. Thanks!"

For Bowel Preparation "Experience actually was pretty good. My doctor told me to take the first dose at 5 PM, followed by the second dose at 9 PM. After taking each dose, I was in the bathroom within 30 minutes. The only difficulty was just the taste, but not nearly as bad as some of the previous reviews that I've read. I would have to say that the overall experience was tolerable. That said, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy."

For Bowel Preparation "After reading the horror stories, I was pretty terrified to use the Suprep kit before my first colonoscopy. I am happy to report that I had no problem at all. I took the first dose at 6:30 p.m. mixed with Propel electrolyte water (unflavored) and followed up with two 16-ounce cups of the Propel. The Suprep tasted awful-like poison-but I got it down using a big straw for a milkshake and a clothespin for my nose. Within the hour, I pooped five times explosively, and that was it. I was able to go to bed and get some rest with no issue. I then got up at 4 a.m. for the second round. Again, it worked very quickly, and I pooped out stuff that looked like pee a couple of times, and I was done. I rested/slept on the couch until my appointment time."

For Bowel Preparation "I started my day on a clear liquid diet. Started the Suprep at 5 pm. The taste was bad but tolerable, gulped it down, then gulped 32 oz of water. Before I could finish the 32 oz of water that you’re supposed to drink in an hour, my tummy was already talking to me. Less than 15 minutes after drinking the Suprep, I was running to the bathroom. It feels like Drano for humans. It definitely cleaned out my pipes for a good 1 1/2 hours. By 7 pm, my tummy was feeling better and my bathroom visits were subsiding. This stuff worked very fast for me! Put the second dosage in the fridge for my 5 am colon cleaning. My colonoscopy wasn’t until 1 pm the next day, I surely felt clean, clear, and ready!"

For Bowel Preparation "Whoever gave the suggestion of biting on a lemon wedge in between chugging the Suprep is a genius! The worst part about the drink is the awful aftertaste, and the lemon totally cuts it. I've taken this prep in the past and was dreading it again this time around - BUT - the lemon made it totally tolerable! I just finished chugging the solution/water mixture, and now I'm on to my first 16-ounce bottle of water. (I think the harder part is going to be to drink the 32 oz of water within the next hour due to bloating, but that part I can totally deal with!!!)"

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first colonoscopy, so I have no other prep to base it on. But after reading several reviews and getting tips from my friends, here is my report. My test was Tuesday AM. I ate very lightly Saturday and Sunday, low fiber, easily digested foods. Monday, I drank Gatorade and broth and ate Jell-O. I started the prep at 6 pm (due to work). I put it in the fridge, so it was very cold, and also added very cold water, as suggested. I used a straw to drink it. The taste is pretty bad, but with the straw, it went quickly. Within 30 minutes, it started working. Around 9:15 pm, it finally stopped. I used baby wipes and Vaseline, as suggested by another reviewer, and it really helped. The AM prep wasn't as bad, I was only able to do 1/2. The test is a breeze. Good luck."

For Bowel Preparation "OMG-the taste! I think if someone were to work on the formula and make it taste like, oh, I don't know, maybe a piña colada, that person would be rich. But what can I say, hold your nose, drink it down, and have a lemon wedge ready. I drank my first cocktail at 6:00 pm, after a liquid-only diet all day. It didn't take long to work, and it wasn't bad at all. My colonoscopy was scheduled for 8:00 the following morning. Went to bed around 10:00 and woke up at 3:00 am to take the 2nd dose. (Yuck). I would have to say that the Suprep did what it was supposed to. The procedure itself is a piece of cake. One minute I was looking at the colorful smock the nurse had on. Then she was gone. And I was in a different room. All done!"

For Bowel Preparation "I started the prep around 5:45 pm, and I seriously needed to be left alone because the taste was so nasty. I drank it all within 15 minutes and took about another 45 minutes to drink the 32 ounces of water. It took a couple of hours, and I was afraid it wasn’t going to work. I had a solid BM, which I assume was plugging me up, because after that, it was like a pressure hose. My last bowel movements before the second prep were still dark. I went to sleep and started my second prep around 3:30 am, which was earlier than what was written down for me to start (4:30). The second prep I drank within 10 minutes and chugged the 32 oz of water within 20 minutes. It hit almost right away, even before I could finish my water. My last BM was clear light yellow. I didn’t start my fast until 2:00 pm and had clear fluids and jello up to 5:30 pm. I was nervous because I did have a slice of red velvet cake around 1:45 pm. I know, no self-control. But the prep worked!"

For Bowel Preparation "Initially taking the first cup, the liquid was really salty and a strawberry flavor. It wasn’t too bad, but definitely had to take breaks of ice water in between. I finished the first cup in about 15 minutes and was on the toilet within 30. I did feel bloated but no stomach pain or cramps. The only thing that sucked was I was extremely nauseous for the first hour after drinking the first cup. I sucked on ice cubes and sipped water. It helped a little, the nausea went away after about an hour. I remained on the toilet for about 3 hours. Woke up at 4:30 AM for the second prep. It was harder to get down this time (I think out of fear of throwing up and the nausea I expected), it took me longer to get down the second cup (30 minutes), but I was on the toilet within 20 min. The nausea is not that horrible the second time. I’ve been on the toilet with watery BM since about 5:30 AM. Hopefully I am all cleared out for my colonoscopy (9:30 AM)"

For Bowel Preparation "So, this is my 4th colonoscopy at the age of 48 due to a family history of colon cancer, and the third type of prep I've done. YOU CAN DO THIS! This was so much easier than past liquid preps because it is only 6 ounces of solution mixed with 10 ounces of water, followed by lots of plain water. A lot easier to get down 16 ounces of solution mixture than 3 liters (which was my past preps). My recommendation is to chill the solution, use a straw to take your gulps, and bite into a lemon after each gulp to kill the aftertaste (of course, it's not tasty, but it is manageable). Once the 16 ounces is down (I did it in about 15 minutes), the water is no problem. The only real downside to this is that I had to get up at 3 am to repeat the process."
