"I would not ever recommend this drug. I had used Vicodin for a short time and had constipation. You will go to the bathroom with this, but the abdominal cramps are unbearable. I even cut the dose in half and still had horrible cramps. Also, I felt lightheaded and in a fog."

"I just started taking Amitiza 24 mg. I read up on the side effects, and I am having all the side effects at one time. It's been over 24 hours, and I still have the side effects. I have seen a little bit of blood in my stools, but I haven't seen any today. I was put on Amitiza because I am on two different depression medications and one anxiety medication. I am also on high blood pressure medicine and a sleeping pill. My HCP gave me samples of it for me to try. I'm not sure if it's interacting with the other medications that I take on a daily basis."

"The nausea hit within 20 minutes or so. I kept trying to vomit in the toilet, but just dry heaving. I was crying at the same time, and my poor cat was standing near me, crying, too. I was sick for hours and really thought about calling an ambulance. I laid down with a blanket and was shivering. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a prescription drug. I feel so bad I will not be able to take my other meds tonight. I am afraid I will throw them up."

"It was great! I also have adhesions which cause constipation too, used the Relistor injection, and it never worked."

"Did not help my OIC at all. In my opinion, it is no better than an OTC stool softener."

"I recently had back surgery and was given Dilaudid for pain. I have lymphocytic colitis, which usually means lots of watery diarrhea, but I had been having constipation before my back surgery. After surgery, the constipation has been awful. My doctor gave me samples of Amitiza, and I took one 24 mcg pill a day, and after the 3rd day, it was somewhat easier to have a bowel movement. It’s now been about 2 weeks, and my doctor increased it to 2 pills a day. It is not working at all. I am more constipated than I was before surgery. I don’t know whether to continue on it or not. I hate this bloated, full feeling all the time. Any suggestions?"
