For Dry Eye Disease "I would not use these drops on a dog. I used them for about 5 or 6 weeks. They caused shortness of breath. They would burn every time I used them. Eyes felt gritty and constant tearing. I have cornea dystrophy, and these drops flared up the left eye. Eye is still blurry, and I am taking antibiotic drops along with artificial tears and waiting on further treatment. I wouldn't give Xiidra one star."

"After years of living with itching, red, swollen, tearing eyes, I have found relief with Xiidra. I had such severe dry eye syndrome that I was never comfortable. If my eyes were open, they were burning, red, and painful. My problem was diagnosed for years as an allergic reaction in my eyes, but no allergy eye drop would even touch my symptoms. I had really resigned myself to wearing sunglasses 24/7, even indoors, to hide my eyes for the rest of my life. After one or two doses of Xiidra, I felt comfortable enough to go without glasses. After a week of Xiidra, I was able to use eye makeup for the first time in years. My eyes are comfortable all day long. I have no side effects with Xiidra-no burning, pain, irritation, bad taste, or anything else I have seen listed by other users. I don't think the vials are difficult to use. I hope others who have suffered like I have will have similar results with this medication. It has been a Godsend for me!"

For Dry Eye Disease "I used Restasis in the past, but was not consistent with using it, so I really don’t know if it helped my dry eyes. My ophthalmologist suggested Xiidra yesterday for my severe dry eyes. I have only used it once in each eye. My first reaction was it really burns. I also noticed the aftertaste a bit later. By the end of the night, my vision was so bad, I considered calling an Uber driver. I washed my contacts with water before leaving work, and that appeared to remove the film that was compromising my vision. As I already have some autoimmune issues and the scare I felt from literally not being able to see, I will not be using this drug again. Calling the ophthalmologist's office tomorrow to start back on Restasis."

For Dry Eye Disease "Very, very bad reaction. Eyes burning, red, itchy. I have used Restasis for years and wanted to try something new. This drug made my eyes so sore and red even the next day. I will take the loss and never use this again."

"My doctor diagnoses me with dry eye. Been using them 1 month. My eyes are worse. From day 1, the drops burn and make my eyes itch something terrible. Itching stops about 15 min after each use. These symptoms have not decreased in intensity in 30 days. By day 4 on the drops, I can't wear contacts. Within 2 hours of putting the contacts in (daily moist contacts), my eyes are so dry the contacts either blink out or crumble into a folded mess inside my eye and get stuck under my upper eyelid. First day of use, I waited the 15 min recommended after putting the drops in, 2nd day waited an hour, and 3rd day waited 2 hours after the drops, but nothing works."

For Dry Eye Disease "I do not like these eye drops. My eyes are blurry for over 15 minutes, develop crust in and around the corners of my eyes, and burn that last for over 10 minutes. I develop crust in and around the corners of my eyes overnight, thus making my eyes hurt in the morning. The solution is to use some cheap artificial tears or a steroid med to help with blurriness. Still, the question is, does it wash away the Xiidra medication? And, the amount in the vial is ridiculous -- there is barely enough to put 1 drop in each eye, regardless if the first drop misses the eye. This is pure greed on the pharmaceutical company."

For Dry Eye Disease "I started Xiidra this week, and after reading a bunch of reviews and asking my doctor, I put the package in the fridge to keep them cold and have not experienced too much burning, although I do get blurriness for about 15-20 minutes after putting the drops in. I too have noticed that it drips down my throat and has an awful taste. I haven't noticed much of a difference but was told to use this until I get approved to try Restasis. I also understand that to see a difference, I would need to use this stuff for a couple of months. I have noticed that my eyes aren't as red as they were, but I'm not so sure I like this stuff since finding all these bad reviews."

For Dry Eye Disease "I tried every eye drop on the market to no avail. My eyes were red, itchy, and painful. The next step was my eye doctor. Steroid eye drops and a couple of more prescription eye drops did nothing. Next came the plugs. 75% improvement but still itchy. Xiidra has been a lifesaver. A little burn and blurry vision is worth being able to see crystal clear again. No pain or itching, and I have moisture in my eyes again."

For Dry Eye Disease "I've only been taking Xiidra for a few days. I have had very little side effects such as burning or itching, as other people have reported. My right eye still gets a little goopy, but that occurred before I used Xiidra. My eyes are not as bloodshot and less irritated. I will continue using Xiidra."

For Dry Eye Disease "I've been on Xiidra for a week now (2x daily). The actual fight to get the prescription approved was almost not worth it. It is also still very expensive-go on their website and get the coupon! In terms of effectiveness, my eyes actually do feel good. They don't feel as dry or have a burning sensation anymore. As some other commenters noted, the taste sensation is terrible. It drains down your throat nearly all day. At some points, it's bad enough to make me gag. The very first day I used it, I did have the burning/stinging upon usage, and my vision did get blurry for about 5 minutes, but I haven't had that sensation since. I can fill this under the coupon at a retail location 3 times before I have to start filling at Express Scripts, which will drastically increase the price. I will really need to see a huge benefit in my eyes and a decrease in the taste sensation because it makes it nearly unbearable to continue to fill the medication after the retail pharmacy fills."

"Changed to Xiidra because I thought it was less expensive (it is not). After placing drops in eyes, there was considerable stinging, an itching causing me to rub my eyes to stop it. This burning and itching continued for at least 15 minutes. It also caused considerable blurring of vision that really limited my vision. Could not watch TV, etc. So then I would just put it in at night due to the fact that I could not see! The vials are very hard (Restasis vials are much softer), and it is very difficult to get equal amounts of product in each eye. Also, there is just enough for only ONE EYE. By the time you are to drop the product in your other eye, there is nothing left! Then what do you do, open another vial? Not a great product."

For Dry Eye Disease "Had the same burning and blurriness as others have stated after using Xiidra. First day seemed to work. But every time I used Xiidra, I noticed a nervous, jittery feeling come on me 10 minutes after applying drops. Then a headache in the top of my head. And after 3 days, I noticed my cheeks were swollen and red. I am stopping Xiidra and going back to OTC Rohto Eye Drops for dry eyes."

For Dry Eye Disease "I started using Xiidra for my severely dry eyes. It burned when I instilled a drop, but the burning ceased after about a minute. I am so desperate for relief, I was willing to deal with the burning. About a week after I began using Xiidra, the burning became so intense, along with blurred vision, I had to stop them. I haven't yet tried Restasis, but I'm hoping for less burning and clearer vision."

For Dry Eye Disease "I was initially wary when prescribing info said 'don't take with other eye drops' since I've been using Rocklatan for glaucoma pressure, but relented when doc assured we 'do it all the time.' 4 weeks after starting Xiidra, I went in for I.O.P. check, and it was up 50% and dangerous. I have taken zero NEW drugs or other factors that could have caused this dangerous spike in my pressures. Xiidra has to be the culprit. Also, the packaging and method of dispensing is the most inhuman and wasteful design imaginable. 5 vials in a non-openable foil/plastic pouch that requires scissors...when you need 2 vials per day? The genius that thought this system was effective should be fired. The drug is dispensed partially on your fingers! Other users' comments are also typical: the metallic taste, under-filled vials, burning sensation. Besides, any drug you get in a box ½ the size of a shoe box is just plain ineffective."

"I have autoimmune arthritis, ocular hypertension, and seasonal eye allergies, and all cause dry eyes. I have used every OTC tear drop, gel, and ointment, and lid scrubs, and I run a cool mist humidifier while sleeping. Constant burning and stinging, feeling like my eyelids were stuck to my eyeballs, and cloudy, blurred vision. For years I looked like I had been crying all the time or drunk! I started Xiidra about 3 weeks ago, and it is helping a lot! Yes, it stings for a moment. I have also gotten a slight headache after use, but that is getting better as I get used to the drops. No problems using Xiidra with my pressure drops, just wait 10 mins between. So far I am happy. Glad insurance covers it, I have a $50 copay for a $600 prescription."

"Since my first review about 7 months ago, it's been working good. But a couple of weeks ago, only in the morning my eyes were burning badly. So I started putting just lubricating drops in a half hour, and it makes it a little better. I also use eye ointment before bed. Hopefully, this burning goes away in the morning."

For Dry Eye Disease "I currently use Xiidra, although I ran out, and I can definitely feel the difference. Xiidra makes my eyes so much less itchy and painful, and it makes it so much easier to wake up in the morning when I put in my eye drops. Also makes my eyes look less red and makes me feel more refreshed. Yes, sometimes it burns putting it in, but I just put in over-the-counter eye drops, and then it's totally fine. 10/10 recommend."

For Dry Eye Disease "Before Xiidra, used artificial tears several times per day, then warm compress plus tears several times per day. Have been using Xiidra for about 8 months. The past several months, I've experienced really excessive tearing, waterworks 2-3 times per day. Ophthalmologist said: keep using Xiidra twice a day, use the artificial tears several times per day, and use the warm compress several times a day. Not much of an improvement over the pre-Xiidra routine! So, long story short, it's a real pain. I get the lousy taste, but it goes away quickly, but the 20-30 minutes of burning and blurriness upon application twice per day is no treat. BUT it does seem to have helped with dry eye for most of the day, but the nonstop waterworks are really annoying. I think the Xiidra is causing the 'excess lacrimation,' but the only way to be sure would be to stop using it, and I'm not ready to try that... it's not so easy to instill the drops, as many others also say."

For Dry Eye Disease "Started noticing a moderate reduction in burning sensation and blurred vision after a month of use. Does make eyes burn and blur vision for 30 minutes after putting in the drops. I have witnessed no other side effects or problems after 2 months and counting of use. The single-use vials are annoying to use, and sometimes the drops don't come out easily. Having to put them in every 12 hours like clockwork gets old also. As the drops are improving my symptoms, I plan to continue taking them."

For Dry Eye Disease "Dr. put me on Xiidra for extreme dry eye disease. The first few days seemed okay. After about a week, every time I used them, they burned and stung terribly near tear ducts. It hurt bad enough that I had to stop using. I am now trying something else."

"Been on medication for 2 months now. I have cheated the system by using 1 drop in each eye in the morning and putting the same vial back in the foil pouch and getting 1 drop for each eye in the evening. The severe burning/itching is almost intolerable at first, then it dissipates. I have been doing a lot better on it except for after 2 weeks of single-digit temperatures when I started getting keratitis again. Back on steroids. Have plugs in lower lids. Also, sometimes 20-30 minutes after applying, when I am on the way to work, I notice extreme blurry vision out of nowhere. Liability?"

For Dry Eye Disease "Update: I tried it only for 2 days. It caused a lot of burning in my inner eye (I used it only on my left eye that has dryness) and tear duct area. About 1 week later, I still have discomfort in my inner eye that is unusual and wasn't there before. (I went back on doxycycline, which has helped.) I'm not sure when the discomfort in my left inner eye/sinuses will go away. This medication was blocked from being marketed in Europe from what I've read in news reports. I don't trust it."

For Dry Eye Disease "Before Xiidra: I have MGD after Accutane and PRK. The burning dry eyes were wearing me down. My tears last one second on my eyes where they ought to last 10 seconds. I was using lubricating drops every hour. My eyes were terribly bloodshot. Floaters were starting, and their frequency was becoming a concern. After Xiidra (I also started using Omega-3 oil capsules, so that is a confounding variable): floaters disappeared, and lubricating drops decreased to twice per day. I have neglected the Xiidra drops several times and quickly paid for it with drier, redder eyes and quick return of floaters. I love these Xiidra. The taste and occasional intense burn on application are insignificant to me. I am terrified of one day being without these drops. I have used them about four years so far."

For Dry Eye Disease "Started using Xiidra. It burned and felt like I had a ton of sand in my eyes, tearing throughout the day. My vision got worse, found out it flared up my corneal dystrophy. Stopped the drops and started using Refresh Mega 3 several times a day, vision has gotten better. Will not use it again."

For Dry Eye Disease "I tried using Zydrate for a number of months, and I still had burning when applying medication to my eyes. I found the eye drop tubes very small and difficult to use. There is very little medication in each applicator, and sometimes you have to use two. I would not recommend this medication."
