For Dry Eye Disease "I was put on Xiidra 4 1/2 months ago. I feel my eyes are blurry all day now and getting more blurrier than I have been - but my eye doctors say it is working. But I don't feel it is doing anything at all."

For Dry Eye Disease "I didn't use this as regularly as I should at first because my vision was blurry for at least 30 minutes after I put the drops in my eye. I decided to use them religiously at night right before I went to sleep. I noticed no difference the first two weeks. Starting the third week, I woke up with my eyes so crusty I could hardly open them. I had to cover my eyes with a hot cloth to clean them. This happened four mornings in a row. I stopped using the drops, and it immediately went away. I really wish I could find something to help, but this most definitely is not it. No wonder the manufacturer is practically giving it away."

"I just started taking it two days ago, and so far, it burns my eyes, and I have blurred vision, and it takes 30 minutes or longer for it to go away. So far, there has been no relief for my dry eyes. I will post another review after I have been on it longer."

For Dry Eye Disease "I'm being fitted for scleral lenses. My vision is great in the morning but slowly gets worse during the day. My doctor prescribed Xiidra to help keep the lenses moisturized. I tried it for 4 days. The stinging and blurry vision kept getting worse. I had to stop. I may just get new glasses. Seems to be too much hassle with scleral lenses. I don't want to be on any more medicine than necessary. Xiidra did not work for me. My eyes felt terrible."

"I am in the 3rd month of the third attempt to use Xiidra. Each time I have tried the drops, the stinging has been moderate to severe, with blurred vision for up to an hour. My doctor is saying this is the only solution to dry eyes. Even with the coupon, I am paying $250.00 for a month's supply. My eyes actually felt better when I used OTC moisture drops during the day and gel at night. Not quite sure why this is the best medication for me (according to the doctor). I lose at least 2 hours of waking time during which I cannot drive, do needed computer tasks, or make home visits."

For Dry Eye Disease "My eye doctor kept pushing Xiidra, saying it would relieve my dry eye. My eyes weren't really bothering me, but the doctor said dry eye could lead to blindness and Xiidra would help. So he called in a prescription to my pharmacy but failed to tell me the cost. When I went to pick up the prescription, it was over $600. Forget it. I tried the samples he gave me for 2 days. Forget that too. Xiidra burned severely, blurred my vision for an hour, and left a crusty residue on my eyelids. I tried Refresh Plus OTC eye drops that are quite soothing and relieve my dry eye all day. And they cost a fraction of the cost of Xiidra."

For Dry Eye Disease "I do not like these eye drops. My eyes are blurry for over 15 minutes, develop crust in and around the corners of my eyes, and burn that last for over 10 minutes. I develop crust in and around the corners of my eyes overnight, thus making my eyes hurt in the morning. The solution is to use some cheap artificial tears or a steroid med to help with blurriness. Still, the question is, does it wash away the Xiidra medication? And, the amount in the vial is ridiculous -- there is barely enough to put 1 drop in each eye, regardless if the first drop misses the eye. This is pure greed on the pharmaceutical company."

For Dry Eye Disease "I started Xiidra this week, and after reading a bunch of reviews and asking my doctor, I put the package in the fridge to keep them cold and have not experienced too much burning, although I do get blurriness for about 15-20 minutes after putting the drops in. I too have noticed that it drips down my throat and has an awful taste. I haven't noticed much of a difference but was told to use this until I get approved to try Restasis. I also understand that to see a difference, I would need to use this stuff for a couple of months. I have noticed that my eyes aren't as red as they were, but I'm not so sure I like this stuff since finding all these bad reviews."

"Have tried Xiidra twice. The first time for about 4 months. It did not seem to make a difference, so I stopped. Started again a month ago as soon as the dry air came back. Still no improvement. It stings a bit when I first put in the drops, but the worst part is the blurry vision for 15 - 30 minutes."

For Dry Eye Disease "I tried every eye drop on the market to no avail. My eyes were red, itchy, and painful. The next step was my eye doctor. Steroid eye drops and a couple of more prescription eye drops did nothing. Next came the plugs. 75% improvement but still itchy. Xiidra has been a lifesaver. A little burn and blurry vision is worth being able to see crystal clear again. No pain or itching, and I have moisture in my eyes again."

"I had dry eye, and my optometrist modified my monovision Rx to use only a single contact lens since my reading vision was only minimally impaired. This has worked great for several (2 - 3) years now. I changed doctors, and he wanted me to use Xiidra. I have only been using it for a week so far. I have seen no 'improvement' in symptoms I was not experiencing. I have blurred vision in my contact lens eye for a while after applying the drops and have a bad aftertaste that lasts for quite a while. This, on top of not experiencing any symptoms for a while now; I don't see this as an improvement and may not continue."

For Dry Eye Disease "I've been on Xiidra for a week now (2x daily). The actual fight to get the prescription approved was almost not worth it. It is also still very expensive-go on their website and get the coupon! In terms of effectiveness, my eyes actually do feel good. They don't feel as dry or have a burning sensation anymore. As some other commenters noted, the taste sensation is terrible. It drains down your throat nearly all day. At some points, it's bad enough to make me gag. The very first day I used it, I did have the burning/stinging upon usage, and my vision did get blurry for about 5 minutes, but I haven't had that sensation since. I can fill this under the coupon at a retail location 3 times before I have to start filling at Express Scripts, which will drastically increase the price. I will really need to see a huge benefit in my eyes and a decrease in the taste sensation because it makes it nearly unbearable to continue to fill the medication after the retail pharmacy fills."

"Changed to Xiidra because I thought it was less expensive (it is not). After placing drops in eyes, there was considerable stinging, an itching causing me to rub my eyes to stop it. This burning and itching continued for at least 15 minutes. It also caused considerable blurring of vision that really limited my vision. Could not watch TV, etc. So then I would just put it in at night due to the fact that I could not see! The vials are very hard (Restasis vials are much softer), and it is very difficult to get equal amounts of product in each eye. Also, there is just enough for only ONE EYE. By the time you are to drop the product in your other eye, there is nothing left! Then what do you do, open another vial? Not a great product."

For Dry Eye Disease "Had the same burning and blurriness as others have stated after using Xiidra. First day seemed to work. But every time I used Xiidra, I noticed a nervous, jittery feeling come on me 10 minutes after applying drops. Then a headache in the top of my head. And after 3 days, I noticed my cheeks were swollen and red. I am stopping Xiidra and going back to OTC Rohto Eye Drops for dry eyes."

For Dry Eye Disease "I started using Xiidra for my severely dry eyes. It burned when I instilled a drop, but the burning ceased after about a minute. I am so desperate for relief, I was willing to deal with the burning. About a week after I began using Xiidra, the burning became so intense, along with blurred vision, I had to stop them. I haven't yet tried Restasis, but I'm hoping for less burning and clearer vision."

For Dry Eye Disease "Beware of this medication! I developed severe migraines, cough, sinusitis, eye pain, and prolonged blurry vision. There is definitely a bitter taste in the back of the throat. If this was the only side effect, it would not be as bad! The drops helped with the dryness in the beginning. But after a few days, I thought I had contracted COVID despite being fully vaccinated. I stopped the medication and my headaches disappeared. I'm still coughing and having to clear my throat, though. Unfortunately, this medication has made my sight worse. So be very careful. Instead of a full drop in each eye, try using half a drop (to the point where it just touches your cornea) - I plan on doing that in a couple of weeks after I get better to see if this works. If your eyelashes are getting wet, you are probably using too much. But I can't tell if it's the way the medication works in your system that is causing these symptoms or if the dosage is too strong. So I will be back with more in about two months."

For Dry Eye Disease "These drops were recommended to me by three ophthalmologists, making me wonder if they are getting some kind of kickback from the manufacturers of Xiidra. I have experienced stinging, blurry vision, itchiness, and actual pain, so I quit using them until advised to start again by one of my eye doctors. In the past two weeks, I have developed headaches that were at first only occasional but are now constant. I wish I had read some of these reviews first. I will definitely not be continuing their use."

"Been taking it for 2-3 weeks, and Xiidra is working wonderfully. Unlike what some people say, there is plenty of fluid inside one vial for 2 drops in each eye. The bitter taste is not really bad, and the blurriness just lasts for a couple of minutes or so. I have not had red, itchy eyes for most of the day when I just take OTC eye drops once or twice. I am very happy about the $10 per month payment because I would not be able to afford it otherwise."

For Dry Eye Disease "Before Xiidra, used artificial tears several times per day, then warm compress plus tears several times per day. Have been using Xiidra for about 8 months. The past several months, I've experienced really excessive tearing, waterworks 2-3 times per day. Ophthalmologist said: keep using Xiidra twice a day, use the artificial tears several times per day, and use the warm compress several times a day. Not much of an improvement over the pre-Xiidra routine! So, long story short, it's a real pain. I get the lousy taste, but it goes away quickly, but the 20-30 minutes of burning and blurriness upon application twice per day is no treat. BUT it does seem to have helped with dry eye for most of the day, but the nonstop waterworks are really annoying. I think the Xiidra is causing the 'excess lacrimation,' but the only way to be sure would be to stop using it, and I'm not ready to try that... it's not so easy to instill the drops, as many others also say."

For Dry Eye Disease "I was having an unbearable time with dry eye. My eyes were very red, felt like sand in my eyes, woke up several times during the night, and had to use my fingers to open my eyes. I tried several over-the-counter treatments with no relief. Finally, my doctor ordered Xiidra for me. Once I got over the shock of the price, I tried the medication. Really needed relief. I have only been using it for 3 1/2 days, and it has some minor drawbacks: blurred vision for about 25 minutes, taste in throat. But I can sleep at night without eye discomfort! Since I am such a new user, I hope I do not get side effects after using it for a longer period. The vials have plenty of medication for treating eyes, there is medication left, and I am tempted to try to keep it. So far, so good, I am happy with Xiidra, but wished it wasn't so expensive."

For Dry Eye Disease "Started noticing a moderate reduction in burning sensation and blurred vision after a month of use. Does make eyes burn and blur vision for 30 minutes after putting in the drops. I have witnessed no other side effects or problems after 2 months and counting of use. The single-use vials are annoying to use, and sometimes the drops don't come out easily. Having to put them in every 12 hours like clockwork gets old also. As the drops are improving my symptoms, I plan to continue taking them."

"Been on medication for 2 months now. I have cheated the system by using 1 drop in each eye in the morning and putting the same vial back in the foil pouch and getting 1 drop for each eye in the evening. The severe burning/itching is almost intolerable at first, then it dissipates. I have been doing a lot better on it except for after 2 weeks of single-digit temperatures when I started getting keratitis again. Back on steroids. Have plugs in lower lids. Also, sometimes 20-30 minutes after applying, when I am on the way to work, I notice extreme blurry vision out of nowhere. Liability?"

For Dry Eye Disease "I would not use these drops on a dog. I used them for about 5 or 6 weeks. They caused shortness of breath. They would burn every time I used them. Eyes felt gritty and constant tearing. I have cornea dystrophy, and these drops flared up the left eye. Eye is still blurry, and I am taking antibiotic drops along with artificial tears and waiting on further treatment. I wouldn't give Xiidra one star."
