For Dry Eye Disease "Been using Xiidra for a month. It does help my dry eyes, but the side effects are pretty bad. Immediately after instilling the drops, my eyes burn, blurred vision for at least 30 minutes, crusty eyes, excessive tearing that lasts for a couple of hours, and last but not least, it feels like I have a sinus infection. I was hoping for success, as the dry eyes are miserable."

For Dry Eye Disease "I've been using Xiidra for about a week. So far, I am very disappointed. My eyes sting and itch most of the day, and my vision is blurry for a long time after application. When I wake up in the mornings, my eyes are puffy and kind of sticky. I'll try them for a little longer, but I do not feel very optimistic."

"As I have gotten older, my eyes have become quite irritated due to dry eyes. Usually, they get very itchy, and they burn a lot, and I have to scratch them a lot, which is not good for the eyes. I went to the optometrist, and he prescribed me Systane, which is OTC eye drops. I used them for about a year. They provide good temporary relief and were good for the short term, but they were never a permanent solution, and they made my eyes burn a lot. I saw mediocre results with them. I then went to the eye doctor, and he prescribed me Xiidra. He gave me a coupon, so the first month would be free. I noticed immediate results. The side effects were a bad taste in my mouth and blurry vision, but rarely do my eyes burn with them. My eyes look better also."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have dry eye due to Lasik, and I was hoping that it would improve some minor vision problems that I was starting to experience. I was having trouble seeing some things far away and found that short-acting rewetting drops helped somewhat, but all the Xiidra did was make my vision worse (blurry). Driving at night was awful, as it seemed to make lights appear super intense combined with the blurriness. My eyes even felt as though they would burn and ache, so I would have to take ibuprofen before my entire head would ache. The taste was awful, but the eye doctor did warn me about that side effect. I'll just continue with OTC drops rather than use Xiidra. My eye doctor was sure I would be happy with it, but it did not work for me."

For Dry Eye Disease "Approx. 8 weeks after doing a Lasik Plus surgery on both eyes, I was still not satisfied with the outcome. The doctor told me to wait another 6 weeks before coming back to see him. He prescribed Xiidra and offered me a free coupon. I tipped off my shoes when I realized that it would have cost me $500 for 1 month's worth of drops!!! Anyway, I started off using Xiidra as prescribed; although I did have a slight sting sensation, a little aftertaste, and a bit of blurry vision which only lasts 3 minutes at the most, the drops were absolutely tolerable. Results: my vision has considerably improved in the week I started putting on these drops. I now see less glare at night and can definitely read better from a distance and from close up as well. The product is pricey but well worth it."

For Dry Eye Disease "Asked my doctor for Xiidra, and he gave me the free sample and the prescription. Used only 2x, and could not see for 30 minutes and noticed the sun being much brighter. After reading these reviews, glad I stopped after 2x. If something doesn't feel right, listen to your body, folks!"

"I have been on Xiidra for 5 months now and am very happy with the results. I was waking up in the morning and could hardly open my eyes. And they hurt like heck. I used two kinds of OTC stuff, nothing worked. They put me on Xiidra and ointment at night. I feel like I am normal again. Thank you. I still have a little burning every now and then and blurry vision for about 10 minutes, well worth it for my eyes to feel this good again."

For Dry Eye Disease "Was so desperate I used for over 2 weeks despite all the burning sensation, blurred vision, and redness it caused me. All these symptoms lasted for approximately 1 hour after use. I tried putting a lot of eye drops to get some relief, symptoms got a little better but not much. Forget about wearing makeup."

For Dry Eye Disease "The eye dr had me take Xiidra. I took it for a week, using it in each eye. My eyes were watering so much with dry eyes. Then the drops started stinging my eyes so badly, and my vision was so blurry. I decided to stop using the drops."

For Dry Eye Disease "Side effects from Xiidra are pain behind the eyeball (pressure), dull headache, dizziness, fuzzy vision, throat coughing, and drainage at the back of the throat. This is for a very expensive lesson stopped. I will ask others what they use, then try again. Tried a couple of days. It was too much, it made me jittery."

For Dry Eye Disease "I tried using Xiidra, but the intense burning (even after refrigerating them first) and blurriness did not result in any change in my dry eyes. I have rosacea in the eyes, and my vision changes frequently, depending on how dry my eyes are at that moment. I have suffered from blepharitis, which I alleviated by soaking my eyes with warm water and washing them with baby shampoo. I'm now trying Restasis. It's interesting that Xiidra's main ingredient is cyclosporine, which is used in transplant patients to prevent organ rejection and is an immunosuppressant, which lowers your immune system. My doctor told me about autologous serum, or plasma from your own blood, that is having awesome results on dry eyes. It's not covered by my insurance yet, but hopefully, it will be in the future. It's taken from your own blood, so there are no side effects, and it's full of vitamins, growth hormones, and other awesome, natural things."

For Dry Eye Disease "Would definitely not recommend this product. Immediately following my first dose of one drop in both eyes, I experienced pain in my eyes, headache, and blurred vision. It’s been 24 hours and no change. A waste of $45.00, and hoping the side effects clear up soon. I will be reporting my experience to the FDA and my pharmacy."

For Dry Eye Disease "This is my follow-up. I have been on Xiidra since the FDA approved it in 2016. It was originally made by Shire but has since been sold, and I think the formula has changed slightly. It used to sting, and my vision would be blurry for 20 or more minutes after using the drop. For the past two years or so, I do not get the sting or the blurry vision. I still cannot praise this medication enough. I know most people do not take the time to fill out a review when things are good. I want to tell everyone, this medication saved my vision. I was also finally diagnosed with autoimmune diseases. I have MCTD and psoriasis. I noticed reading over some other reviews that others with autoimmune diseases also have positive experiences. Xiidra claims to reduce the LFA-1 on T cells and reduce cytokine release. Maybe it works better for those of us with autoimmune diseases. All I know is I have very severe DED, and Xiidra has made the most positive impact! Get the Insider Card to make it less costly."

For Dry Eye Disease "I'm on the fence with Xiidra. Whenever I put it in, my vision is blurry for a small period of time, I believe this has to do with it being thicker than typical eye drops. It always gets all gooey and pools in the corner of my inner eyes. I think it works, but I also feel like I can't help but touch my eyes since it feels like there's something in there. I stopped taking it when I went on vacation and had dry eyes, so I do believe there is a benefit in taking it. I went to their website to get a credit, so this ended up being like $30 with insurance."

For Dry Eye Disease "I am a 63-year-old female with dry eye. Used in the morning and evening. Burning for 30 minutes after use and some blurriness. After a month of use, woke up dizzy to the point of being sick to my stomach. Still dizzy on day two. Haven't taken them since the dizzy spells. Hope it goes away. Very expensive drug. Was able to get the first month free with a coupon. The rest will be going in the garbage."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have been using Xiidra for about 3 months. It is the best thing I have ever used. My eyes do sting as soon as I put the drops, but this goes away after a few minutes. Also, my vision is blurry for a short while. I wear daily contacts and have to wait for the blurriness to go away (about 15-20 minutes) before I insert the contacts. But for the first time in decades, I don't feel like I have broken glass in my eyes. I can wear my contacts all day without them hurting and itching and without constantly adding moisture drops. To me, this is an amazing drug. But it did take 2 months of daily use before I saw this great result."

For Dry Eye Disease "On day 7 of use in my right eye only, that eye started tearing badly throughout the day. I discontinued use that night. The next day, I had a pain in my eye area next to my nose so severe I could barely function. The next morning, my eye began producing pus-like discharge and was weeping and blurry all day. I still had extreme pain in the eye area near my nose. The following morning, I woke up with severe puffiness around that eye and still very tender. Later that day, I broke out in a rash on my chest (this is the third day after stopping taking it). I was hopeful for this medicine to help my eye problems, but the side effects/allergic reaction were much worse than the original problem. Very disappointed. I did give it a two, because in the beginning, I felt like it might have been helping."

"Update after leaving my 1st review. I left a review after being on Xiidra for 3 weeks. It has now been 5 months. I'm still happy with the drop. I really don't have trouble with the tube. Burning and blurriness are only very minimal for me. I'm still seeing about the same results as before. Some improvement (more than anything else that I have tried, and I have tried everything!). I have the Xiidra Insider card, which was 1st month free and $10 a month after that. I will continue to take this medicine until I stop seeing results. It may not work for everyone, but everyone should try it. I saw results after 2 weeks."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have had these symptoms using Xiidra: blurry vision, bad taste down my throat, crusty eyes, nausea. It did help the dry eyes as they felt well lubricated. I do not want to develop other harmful issues with my throat, stomach, and taste buds. I used this product for only about 5 days. By the way, did anyone else find that you could not even squeeze out a single drop for each eye from one ampule? Compared to Restasis, the ampules have more than enough for both eyes, and my eye doctor said I could even keep the unused portion of Restasis if kept hygienic for the next application. I will switch back to Restasis, which doesn't work as well, but supplement with omega supplements and Refresh Advanced version eye drops. It is thick and helps. I'm glad I'm not the only one and that it is not 'all in my head.' Thanks all."

For Dry Eye Disease "I started a year ago on this for severely dry eyes. It stings, causes blurry vision for a few minutes, white discharge. The terrible part is the horrible taste down your throat anywhere from 1-4 hours after applying. It really helped me as I was using artificial tears 3-4 times per hour at work. Now I'm back to the same condition, so I am going to wean off. Guess it only works for so long. Besides, it gives you no clue into the long-term consequences because they are too new. Trying warm compresses and massaging my inner eyes to see if that will help. Trying home remedies at this point."

For Dry Eye Disease "I took Xiidra for 1 month. I was very optimistic about the drops because I had been in so much pain with my eyes at night and getting no sleep. I had blurriness after applying, but then came the taste and the nasal drip down the back of my throat. It seemed like each time I used it, the drip feeling and the taste got worse and worse. Then, after about a week or so, I noticed my eyes were staying red and irritated more throughout the day and sensitive to light. I even went to an after-hours clinic thinking I had a sinus infection because of how severe the feeling was every night. I couldn't bear it any longer. I stopped after a month and was so devastated. My doctor didn't like that I didn't give it at least 2 months (he said that's how long it takes to 'kick in'), and I practically begged him to let me try Restasis. Xiidra was a terrible experience for me."

For Dry Eye Disease "The oddest thing about this medication is how an eye drop can instantly cause me to have a disgusting post-nasal drip taste in my mouth. Almost instantly after putting in the drops, I get this awful taste, and my vision is blurry too. I don't see any benefit from it, and this new side effect is gross and creepy, honestly."

"I have Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and was on Restasis for the last few years. I’m 30 and have never really found something that works well to totally treat it. I take fish oil, sauna, hot compresses, and gel drops. Started Xiidra a week and a half ago, so far, my eyes feel better, but there is a stinging for a while and blurriness. Started getting a headache and pain in my left tear duct, excessive tearing, and kind of sticky lid with blurry sight. Will have to continue to assess it and follow up with my eye doctor if it doesn’t get better."

"I almost go for natural products when it comes to cosmetics or just about anything, maybe over-the-counter drops aren't that effective, but at least they don't sting my eyes like Xiidra! I seriously don't know what kind of chemicals they put in those drops, but man, they burn like hell, and my eyes are bloodshot for about 15 minutes alongside blurry vision. I stopped using it immediately after one use, so I can't speak about effectiveness when it comes to treating dry eyes, but I will continue exploring other dry eye reliefs."
