"I have been on it for 5 days for a lung infection. After not being able to breathe and being on an inhaler, the Levaquin has made me breathe without the use of the inhaler, and I no longer have the wheezing sound at night when I lay down."

"I found this to be a wonderful medicine for my sinusitis. I was on Augmentin for 2 weeks and didn't completely take away the infection. The Levaquin stopped the infection in 3 days. I have used it a number of times and luckily have had none of the problems others have had."

"I started taking Levaquin and felt much better. The only side effect was too much sleep. I feel tired and depressed. I can't wait to get rid of this sinus infection. I also took the same medicine for a bladder infection about a month ago, and it sure helped. I just need to be aware of the risks. So far, I am good. Best to you all! Regards."

"I have taken Levaquin many times for my sinuses and have had 2 sinus surgeries. I am currently on my 38th day of 750 mg and have 11 more days to go of taking it. We are doing this for so long as a last resort before doing surgery again. I cannot tell that it is doing much good this go around. It does not allow me to rest well, so I take it in the morning, but I can honestly say that I am over the vomiting daily because of it. It also gives me the shakes and just a very bad overall feeling until lunch or so."

"Levaquin caused rupture of both my Achilles tendons, which took at least a year to recover from. I was told that I was allergic to all of the fluoroquinolone antibiotics and should avoid them. It did, however, cure my sinusitis."

"Lost 40% of Achilles' tendon! All my tendons in hands, feet, shoulders, neck --- actually, all over my body are sore all the time! Can't work out anymore, have a hard time doing housework, landscaping, sleeping, can't open bottles. Put my bra on because of the soreness in my shoulder muscles, etc. I hate this feeling all the time! I am not myself anymore. Used to be the poster child of health for a 69-year-old."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION - EVER! Should be illegal. Went to the urgent care during the holidays with chest congestion, cough, low-grade fever, and sinus headache on Monday. Told the doctor I was starting an 8-day cruise on Thursday. She gave me a 10-day, 750 mg tablet of Levaquin. Had a dull ache in my right side after a couple of days on the cruise, which seemed to progress every day. When I got home, I was favoring my right shoulder. Two nights ago, the pain was so bad I couldn't move it, and it was very swollen. Went to emergency and was diagnosed with tendonitis caused by the Levaquin. Read drug info and horrified that the doctor prescribed it to me, a 60-year-old, without trying any other treatment first. So many warnings on this drug."

"Please don't take Levaquin or any other fluoroquinolone. It can destroy all of the tendons in your body and cause severe organ damage. It has basically disabled me. There are at least tens of thousands of people harmed by this drug. The FDA put out a black box warning against this drug in July 2016. Please read it!"

"Levaquin was almost the end of me after two doses. Was hospitalized for a week. Vomiting. Weight loss. Pain. Couldn’t walk. Defecating blood. Collapsed with stomach pain. Told that my potassium was dangerously low. Have PTSD now. An Irish hospital saved my life from this poison. Have effects years later. Still have mental and gastrointestinal problems. Please seek natural methods."

"I am 62 years old and chronically on warfarin. The doctor prescribed Tavaloxx 750 in Feb 2018, together with other medication, to cure my sinus infection. Sinuses were better on day 2, but since the second day, and more seriously from day 3, it became very difficult and uncomfortable to walk properly, due to serious pains in first one and then both Achilles tendons. I started to read the pamphlet that came with the medicine-only because I was not aware of any incident that may have led to these injuries. I was shocked and immediately stopped the medicine and informed my doctor that I had done so. Now on day 5 since I stopped the medicine, though I am not experiencing serious pains, I am really struggling with hot flushes and tingling in the lower leg areas and suffering to walk properly due to stiff Achilles tendons. Just hope and pray it will go better soon-will never use this product ever again-also warning others not to make the same mistake."

"Two years ago, my doctor gave me a five-day dose of Levaquin for a bad sinus infection. I have to admit, by the second day, all of my sinus symptoms were nearly gone. However, after about two weeks, I started noticing that the tendons around my heel and arch of my feet started to hurt. About a week later, the tendons in my neck and both elbows started hurting. To this day, I still have pains in my tendons that come and go. The only thing that helps is NSAIDs, stretching and B12 also seem to help."

"Did that one poster seriously share an experience where a doctor had him/her on 750 mg Levaquin for 7 weeks (49 days)? Is that even survivable, let alone right? I just finished 10 days of 750 mg for an upper sinus infection that has lasted 5 months... it turned me inside out! It's too early to tell if it has really helped, but the CT showed no signs of infection now, so I'm hopeful. Everything else we've tried has given me temporary relief, but less than 2 weeks later was back with a vengeance. This was my 6th round of antibiotics...hopefully my last. I'm just curious how someone could stomach it for that long."

"I have a sinus infection that hasn't responded to any other treatments, and I had decided to ignore it, but 3 months have passed and it's gotten into my chest too. I was put on Bacitrin, and that did nothing, so the Dr. put me on Levaquin, and thus far, I can say I haven't had any issues with sleep. I actually fell asleep watching TV last night and slept fairly well considering I have a ton of coughing congestion in my chest and that awful sinus discharge. We'll see how the rest goes, if it works."

"I was prescribed 250 mg of Levaquin after the ZPak didn't help my sinusitis, and the Levaquin didn't help either. After the 3rd day, I had pain in my Achilles heel, on the fourth day, I had nausea and vomiting, however, I just felt weak all over. The pain in my heel went away, but again a week later, on my 9th or 10th day, I had nausea and vomiting again and experienced vision problems with all those funny floaters in my eyes. I thought I saw spider webs all over, very disturbing, and lightning flashes. I don't feel it was worth anything to me."

"Had a sinus infection for over a month, but didn't know it, because it started out as pain in my teeth. Went to the dentist on 2 separate occasions within 2 weeks to have a check-up and x-rays. X-rays revealed nothing wrong with my teeth. Pain went to my throat for 2 weeks and then my ear. All on the left side. Went to my PCP, who said my sinuses were almost completely closed. I did not have any pain around my eyes/nose at this point. Put on Levaquin. The pain has gotten worse! Has not helped me with my sinus infection. In fact, I'm on day 6, and not only do I have pain in my teeth, ears, and throat still, but now it's traveled throughout my entire head! The malaise I feel is horrible! Been mainly in bed for 5 days now! Horrible antibiotic!"

"I was given Levofloxacin 750 mg for 5 days for a sinus infection. On the 5th day, I started having Achilles tendon pain. I've been off the medication for 4 days, and I now have some swelling in the area as well as pain. I have never had problems with my tendons. In my opinion, taking the drug was a big mistake and one that I regret. From all I've read, this condition may not go away for a year if it even goes away. For me, the cure wasn't worth the horrible side effects. I won't take it again or anything else in the fluoroquinolone family."

"I don't know if I am getting well or not. But I am having a good bit of the side effects: all the inflammation, swelling, weakness, and hurting all over hand, arm, shoulders, legs, and feet. I sit down and I don't want to move again because of all this. I'm also experiencing confusion, emotional, and mood changes."

"I took ONE Levaquin for a sinus infection, and within 1 hour, had a high fever. The blood vessels in my legs began leaking blood under my skin (a condition called vasculitis that is now permanent), my feet/hands were so swollen we almost had to cut off my wedding ring, and by the next morning, I couldn't move ANY part of my body without excruciating pain. My doctor didn't know what was going on and called in a steroid, which helped me be able to move again, but it was a month before I could stand/walk. That was 5 years ago. I had an existing autoimmune disease, and this drug made it much worse. I now have infusions of chemo to treat my vasculitis, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and I suffer from permanent neuropathy. DON'T TAKE THIS DRUG."

"I took Levaquin 500 three years ago, and it worked great. I felt better in one day, but of course finished the course of the antibiotic. I had no side effects that I can remember, and was VERY happy that it quickly got rid of the crud I had (bronchitis). I was prescribed Levaquin 750 for sinusitis this week and am on my second day of taking it (will take it for five days total). The first day, I kept spacing out and forgetting what I was doing. It's not as bad today. I also feel soreness in certain parts of my body... my wrists, elbows, and one side of my neck. I also had mild insomnia, and I never have a problem sleeping normally. I'm still happy with Levaquin, and these side effects seem mild at the moment."

"I was prescribed Cephalexin for a 20-day course for a horrid sinus infection. I had a throbbing headache, lots of mucus, etc., but I wasn't feeling any better, so I was prescribed Levaquin. Within the first three days of using Levaquin, I felt incredibly tired; just weak, laying around all the time, and unable to sleep during the night. My eyes felt droopy all the time, I was dizzy standing up, my heart raced when I walked up the stairs, and finally, on my fourth day taking the medicine, I was startled. This had been going on for a couple of days, but my head and left shoulder started twitching consistently. I literally could not keep them still. I got worried and called the doctor and was told to stop the drug. I guess it was too powerful for me!"

"I get 2 sinus infections a year. Spring & Fall. I have used every antibiotic there is only to return again to Dr. Levaquin is the only prescription that wipes it out. Have had to practically arm wrestle doctors for it.... Why load someone up with multiple 'first line' antibiotics when the patient tells you they don't work! Levaquin ----- definite game changer when it comes to chronic sinus problems."

"This med has been effective, but it has caused such bad joint stiffness that I can barely walk. My back, knees, and ankles are in extreme pain. I also feel very dizzy and like I'm going to faint sometimes, really bad gas, and constipation. And the fatigue is unreal. I can't seem to make anyone understand. I still feel sick now, but in a different way. If I had not been so sick, I would not have taken this again. This has been my third Levaquin experience. I just can't do it again."

"Upon taking Levaquin, I have currently what unfortunately hundreds of other people have from this drug (I found out too late) - an inexplicable torn Achilles heel and the destruction of my right ulnar nerve. I went through four months of physical therapy for my Achilles heel, which did not completely heal, and also through surgery to relocate my ulnar nerve to hopefully aid in healing. The healing of the nerve will take over a year as I write this. In both instances, the neuropathic surgeon, nerve doctor, and occupational therapist were initially at a loss as to the cause."

"I started Levaquin four days ago. I noticed that I couldn't sleep the first night. I have a sinus infection with a bad cough. The cough has improved, but I still have drainage and eye pain. I asked the doctor for sleep medication, which he gave me, so I have no problem with that now. Eating lots of yogurt and taking probiotics and drinking lots of fluids. Still, the infection may not respond to this antibiotic, as I have had the infection on and off for several months. Used this antibiotic as a last resort. Hopefully, it will clear up soon."

"I was given a 10-day prescription after sinus surgery. The pros are 1) I only have to swallow one pill per day, 2) it doesn't bother my stomach (other antibiotics have in the past), and 3) I've not gotten a yeast infection. The con is that it seems to totally dry me out. I take it in the evening, and my mouth/nose/lips are incredibly dry regardless of the amount of water I drink all night long. It is uncomfortable enough to keep me awake. I also experience dryness during the day, but not the same severity."
