Levofloxacin "Seemed to clear up sinus infection, but side effects were scary. Had anxiety and felt very cold. Then the shaking started, mainly leg muscles. Was resolved after about an hour by taking Ativan. Blood pressure was very high the next few days - can't say for sure if that was related. Also had nosebleeds."

Levofloxacin "41/F. I had a serious sinus infection for over a year after having Covid. I took so many antibiotics that didn’t help at all: Augmentin, doxycycline, amoxicillin, and a few others. Then they took several cultures that showed the bacteria Citrobacter k. present, which is resistant to most antibiotics. I was put on Cipro for 20 days, then again for 14 days. Didn’t help much. The only other option for oral/non-IV antibiotics for this bacteria was Levaquin. I’m on Day 5 of 14 and already seeing a huge improvement, unlike any other antibiotic used. I’m hopeful it will eventually go away completely. I haven’t noticed any side effects. I have a physical job, and I’m physically active, and I haven’t noticed any issues with tendons, etc. When I asked about the side effects some people get, namely the issues with tendons and joints, my physician said that is more likely if you’re overweight or over 60."

"Had severe sinus problems, tried over-the-counter medicines, didn't work, diagnosed with bacterial acute sinusitis. Was given medication of levofloxacin 500 mg. Am feeling better, but lots of side effects. Stomach upset, depression, anxiety. Please do not take unless it's the last medicine."

Levofloxacin "I took Levaquin for a sinus infection. It cleared the infection but had terrible side effects. My heart was racing, pulse was like I had run a marathon. It shot my potassium levels off the charts (had to take medication to flush my system of that)."

"My ENT doctor prescribed levofloxacin for sinusitis. After taking it for a week, I came down with serious tendonitis in my Achilles and have been limping since with extreme to moderate pain. I would never recommend anyone take or prescribe this medicine and look for other options. After doing some research on this, I have found that there have been numerous lawsuits over this and that it appears to have been taken off the market before."

"I had open rhinoplasty 4 weeks ago for a broken nose. 2 weeks after the surgery, I developed a sinus infection. My doctor called in levofloxacin 500 mg 1 a day for 10 days. After taking them for 6 days, my infection was gone, but day 7 when I woke up, I could hardly move. The pain in my knees and hips was unbearable, I hurt so bad. I took the day 8 pill before I realized that it was the levofloxacin causing it. The doctor nor pharmacist told me about the side effects, except it could cause insomnia and loss of appetite. I threw out the remaining 2 pills. It has been 3 days since I took them, and the pain is better, but my tendons are very stiff in my legs above my knees. I am calling my doctor in the morning. This drug needs to be off the market!"

"They found a polyp and fluids in my sinuses that is blocking about 80% of my left sinus cavity. Took this medicine first dose last night at 7:00 pm... didn't fall asleep until 4 am, then had to be at work at 7! Very anxious, feels like I'm having heart palpitations and my left knee and leg feel a lot of pressure as well. (not sure why) my chest feels super hot AND THE WORST OF ALL the WORST acid reflux I have EVER had at night. I'm just hoping the pain is worth the results."

Levofloxacin "I used this medicine for over 20 years for chronic sinusitis. The recent 3 times I have taken it, I broke out in hives all over my body that lasted for 2 hours. Has anyone else had a similar reaction? Not sure how, after all these years, I have an allergic reaction to something. The doctor gave me Sulfamethoxazole-TMP in lieu of Levaquin, and I am scared out of my mind to take something new. I have an 11-year history of random allergies to food and medications."

Levofloxacin "I only took ONE Levaquin, and within a 6-hour period, my back 'popped' and felt as though it was going out. I'd say the warning about this medicine causing tendon/muscle weakness is highly accurate! My doctor agreed and changed my meds immediately...nothing like taking a $100 pill."

"Will never take this again! After one 500 mg dose for a sinus infection, I did not sleep at all. I've been up almost 24 hours at this point. I felt like my skin was burning all night and can barely move now. I'm awaiting a call back from my doctor to get another antibiotic."

Levofloxacin "I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection. I have a lot of sinus infections. I have been on quite a few antibiotics. I had an allergic reaction from Amoxicillin earlier this year. Hives and sores all over for 1 month. I am on day 4 of Levaquin, and yesterday I had mild chest pains, which went away after I took a dose. Maybe it was from the sinus infection. Have been sleeping okay, though. Today my thigh bone has started hurting. Never has before. Will see what tomorrow brings."

"500 mg/1x a day for 10 days was prescribed for an acute sinus infection. I take Wellbutrin and bupropion for depression and anxiety, they manage my symptoms very well. Two days of the Levaquin had me in an agitated state such as I've not experienced in years. I experienced insomnia-four hours of sleep-and I am always blissfully able to sleep 8-9 hours, falling asleep within minutes of laying down. This drug was poison to my brain. I also have a headache, muscle aches, and redness/rash. I called the doctor for a new drug after 2 doses and asked why in the world would she prescribe me something that has a known history of causing nervous problems?! I may change doctors over this."

"My doctor prescribed this drug a year ago because of a nasty sinus infection. After 4 days of 500 mg/1 time a day, I developed joint pain everywhere - knees, elbows, ankles, wrists, could hardly walk up and down stairs. I stopped taking the medication, but continued to notice weakness in my ankles. Four months later, I developed debilitating PTTD, which is a failure of the tendon that holds your foot correctly. I am now in an expensive and uncomfortable ankle brace and facing surgery. I wish I'd never taken this drug."

"I took number 5 pill today of a course of 8 pills for a sinus infection. And I am scared and done. The side effects are horrible: nausea, dizziness, headache, jittery, insomnia, leg pains, heart palpitations, weakness, sensitive to heat. I can't even stand the hair touching my neck or the shirt near my neck. Absolutely horrible medication! Am hoping it all goes away now that I am stopping it!"

Levofloxacin "This is my 4th antibiotic for a sinus infection. On day 5 and not feeling any different. Just wanted to give my experience... I ate yogurt in the morning and afternoon and took a probiotic. I had none of the side effects but slight joint pain. Keep in mind everyone is different. Drink plenty of water. Blood test done yesterday and it shows I have an infection, but no antibiotic touching it. This has been going on for 2 months. Have a CT scan on Monday."

"I have a rare sinusitis, which the infection is located in the middle of my head. I was prescribed levofloxacin 500 mg for 3 weeks. I haven't been able to sleep very well and loss of appetite (which is good in a way) and a very sore neck. On my 5th dose and not so much drainage and not much of a stuffy nose."

Levofloxacin "Trying out this medication for a severe ear infection. 10 days of Amoxicillin did not work, so the doctor told me to take this. The side effects sound scary, but the long-term result of no ear infection should outweigh the other stuff. I will try and report my findings after the 10-day run."

Levofloxacin "Never, ever take this drug or those part of the fluoroquinolone family (Cipro, etc.). I didn't realize that this was a blacklisted drug; it should be illegal to prescribe such a thing, and the doctor who prescribed this to me failed to tell me about the side effects. When I asked her what the side effects were, she said 'lightheadedness.' Thankfully, I only took about 750 mg in total and am going to do whatever I can to expel this poison from my body. Warn everyone you know to NEVER take this drug."

Levofloxacin "I started taking Levaquin about 12 hours ago. My muscles are very weak, I'm dizzy, restless, didn't sleep last night, and having a very hard time focusing. I'm sure this is a great drug if you need to go to these extremes, but it's a little much for me. I'm calling the doctor to get off of it this morning."

"This medication will absolutely be different with each individual... no doubt. I hope more folks understand that with any/all medications have side effects; however, the benefits normally will outweigh the risks. Diagnosed with a sinus infection after an MRI on my neck. Let me make a long story short because my symptoms are too broad to go into details... 750 daily po for 2 weeks. I'm extremely dizzy, I'm confused, I'm restless, I'm plain beat down. I've yet to see anyone on the highest dosage for sinusitis-except myself. Come on now-two weeks? ..and I'm still coughing after one week. Mind you all, I take this med at the same time every day with pretty much all the symptoms most have experienced (but even more). Question: anyone with similar experience?"

Levofloxacin "Great for the sinus infection. Feeling much better after a couple of days. However, on day 5, much tendon tenderness and tightness during exercise. I read about the side effects, and this is one listed. It is worth it to get rid of the sinus infection."

Levofloxacin "Well, prescribed this medicine because I had an earache due to sinus buildup. Once I started taking the medication, everything was fine, but a few days later, I developed hives and ringing of the ears for some reason. I am allergic to penicillin, but I have never had an antibiotic do this to me."

"Leviquin was taken off the market in 2017, the generic they let sneak by until 2020, but it's still out there. I had one horrid experience with this med that led me to the ER. DO NOT TAKE! DEMAND ANOTHER ANTIBIOTIC. For the lucky ones who didn't have adverse reactions, that's great for you. Truly consider yourself lucky."

"I was given a 5-day script - 750 mg 1/day. On the 4th day, I started getting pain in my thighs and legs but attributed it to random aches and pains. Unfortunately, that wasn't true, and it was from this horrible Satan antibiotic. On day 5, I started having body aches 100 times worse than when I had the flu. What was extremely painful were my legs. I couldn't even get to a standing position without almost crying because it hurt so bad. Then I had joint pain in my calves, ankles, and feet. I pray this is temporary even though I have yet to read a review where the person had temporary pain. This is so scary, I am crying because I am 36 years old with a newborn and toddler and can't be crippled forever. I wish I would read a review where it was temporary."

"I went to an after-hours clinic to treat my sinus infection. The doctor prescribed me 500 mg of levofloxacin at 1 pill a day for 5 days. I took my first dose that night and had horrible anxiety and heart palpitations. I fought bad nausea the whole night too. The effects lasted for 2 days after I took that 1 pill. The next morning I started to get strange feelings in my left leg. It's hard to describe, but it feels like a dull ache in your muscles. I also started to get an odd tingling/numbing sensation in my left leg as well. This feeling (obviously) alarmed me, and I immediately stopped taking the medication. I took only that 1 dose, it's been more than a week now, and I'm still having issues. I still deal with leg pain/numbness/tingling, and now I'm getting a little of it in my left arm. Please don't make the same idiotic mistake that I did and READ about your medication before you take it. Be careful and DON'T take this or any antibiotic in this family unless there is no other choice."
