"Bad sinus infection and cough, so Dr. gave me levofloxacin 750 mg for seven days. I was so sick, and I just wanted to take it to get better. After reading the reviews of this medicine, I have to say it scared me, but so far I've had no reaction at all. Sinus infection is gone, cough is still there."

"I have had sinus infections my whole life, and I am allergic to amoxicillin and erythromycin, so I've taken Zithromax hundreds of times. My sinusitis just started affecting my ear, so a few months ago, I tried 500 mg x 5 days of Levaquin. I felt immediate relief, although, at age 26, I couldn't walk without my knees giving out! I never wanted to take it again. Fast forward to 5 days ago when I was in the urgent care for a horrible sinus and ear infection. Z-Pack hadn't worked. I was in so much pain I decided to try Levaquin again. Day 5 of 10, 500 mg, my body has tolerated it a lot better! I feel great! Very little joint pain and almost immediate sinus and ear pain relief!"

Levofloxacin "This med has been effective, but it has caused such bad joint stiffness that I can barely walk. My back, knees, and ankles are in extreme pain. I also feel very dizzy and like I'm going to faint sometimes, really bad gas, and constipation. And the fatigue is unreal. I can't seem to make anyone understand. I still feel sick now, but in a different way. If I had not been so sick, I would not have taken this again. This has been my third Levaquin experience. I just can't do it again."

Levofloxacin "I started Levaquin four days ago. I noticed that I couldn't sleep the first night. I have a sinus infection with a bad cough. The cough has improved, but I still have drainage and eye pain. I asked the doctor for sleep medication, which he gave me, so I have no problem with that now. Eating lots of yogurt and taking probiotics and drinking lots of fluids. Still, the infection may not respond to this antibiotic, as I have had the infection on and off for several months. Used this antibiotic as a last resort. Hopefully, it will clear up soon."

Levofloxacin "Upon taking Levaquin, I have currently what unfortunately hundreds of other people have from this drug (I found out too late) - an inexplicable torn Achilles heel and the destruction of my right ulnar nerve. I went through four months of physical therapy for my Achilles heel, which did not completely heal, and also through surgery to relocate my ulnar nerve to hopefully aid in healing. The healing of the nerve will take over a year as I write this. In both instances, the neuropathic surgeon, nerve doctor, and occupational therapist were initially at a loss as to the cause."

Levofloxacin "I get 2 sinus infections a year. Spring & Fall. I have used every antibiotic there is only to return again to Dr. Levaquin is the only prescription that wipes it out. Have had to practically arm wrestle doctors for it.... Why load someone up with multiple 'first line' antibiotics when the patient tells you they don't work! Levaquin ----- definite game changer when it comes to chronic sinus problems."

"Prescribed this medicine for a recurring sinus infection. Doctor at N.W. Allergy said you may have some tenderness in your lower leg tendons near ankles, just don't exercise while taking. After a week and a half of taking the medicine, I could barely walk. Kept taking the medicine because pain was in my upper calves and knee joint. Then it went into my shoulder. The doctor insisted it wasn't the levofloxacin. Two weeks after finishing the medicine, I feel like an 80-year-old woman with bad arthritis, and prior to this, I was a healthy, active 51-year-old woman. Doctor still insists it wasn't the antibiotic, I just woke up one morning with knee and shoulder joint and muscle pain for no reason. This medicine is not worth the risk and can change your life."

Levofloxacin "Earlier this week, I was prescribed levofloxacin for a sinus infection. I took one dose. I strength train and diet year-round. I haven't felt like working out since I took it Monday. Very fatigued and weak. Last night, I became extremely sensitive to cold. My hands became incredibly numb and cold, and there was no blood in my fingers for the first couple of inches. There's a poisonous taste in my mouth that won't go away, and I have a rash on my back and my chest. My Achilles tendons are so tight I'm afraid I'll rupture them."

"I was taking this antibiotic for three days. During the night of the second day, I could not sleep for the pain. On the third day, I felt swelling and puffiness in my elbows and hips. I do not recommend this product. I just hope that I do not continue to have joint pain. I quit taking it after the third day."

Levofloxacin "I was given a 10-day prescription after sinus surgery. The pros are 1) I only have to swallow one pill per day, 2) it doesn't bother my stomach (other antibiotics have in the past), and 3) I've not gotten a yeast infection. The con is that it seems to totally dry me out. I take it in the evening, and my mouth/nose/lips are incredibly dry regardless of the amount of water I drink all night long. It is uncomfortable enough to keep me awake. I also experience dryness during the day, but not the same severity."

"This drug has caused a great deal of discomfort and pain to my legs and arms. I got a concussion 2 years ago and still have difficulty comprehending technical reading material. There were approximately 8 pages of possible side effects. I assumed the doctor or pharmacist would inform me of anything important. No one did. Even when I complained to the doctor about how sore my legs were since taking Levofloxacin, he didn’t say one word. It’s now been approximately 3 months since I took it. Symptoms are not getting better. STAY AWAY FROM THE DRUG!"

"I have COPD, and at least twice a year I suffer severe flare-ups of the condition, sometimes requiring hospitalization. Levaquin is the only antibiotic that has been effective. If I take it immediately upon early symptoms of a flare-up, I can avoid hospitalization. I have been taking it several times a year for the last several years and have not experienced any serious side effects. Whenever I've been hospitalized for COPD exacerbations, I received higher doses of Levaquin and, again, with no side effects."

Levofloxacin "Levaquin is the ONLY antibiotic that gets rid of my 4x/year sinus infections. I switched doctors in November and came down with an infection just after making my first appointment. I agreed to try a different antibiotic—Cefuroxime—because I HAVE experienced tendon injury after taking Levaquin (I was sprinting a couple of months later and not aware of the warnings). I “sort of” got over the November sinusitis and then came down with another in January. I honestly don't think the first one ever went away, leading to the second flare-up. I again agreed to try a different antibiotic, Doxycycline (I’m still babying those tendons from 3 years ago, so why not avoid the Levaquin, right?). Was on the Doxy for 10 days, and now, three days after finishing, I am no better. I’m calling my doc’s office and insisting on the Levaquin tomorrow. I just won’t be doing sprints."

"I am not doubting others have the issues, but Cipro and Levaquin are the only antibiotics I can take (I have severe allergies to others). When I have a sinus infection, Levaquin is a lifesaver. I'm so thankful for it. I do get a bit nauseous on it, but it's strong... I take it with food, and if I get nauseous, I eat crackers. It helps when other meds fail me. I just am concerned I will grow an immunity eventually. The drug does make me feel yucky initially, but it's like it's 'killing' the infection, then I turn around. It is a strong drug, but my husband, my parents, a friend, my sister-in-law, and my niece have all taken it at some point and never had any major issues."

"I started Levofloxacin 500 mg 10 days ago, I'm on day 5. I've been having trouble sleeping and a little bit of diarrhea. Yesterday, I started to have random, deep pain in my forearm, legs, and right shoulder/shoulder blade. I'm thinking about calling my doctor to ask if I should continue taking it. It worked really fast, other than those side effects, which is great because I have a really hard time with other antibiotics!"

"I was prescribed levofloxacin 500 mg for a sinus infection. I took it for 10 days with no change in infection, it wasn't working. I noticed soreness in my Achilles and in my knees. I began to experience strong panic attacks and very strong dark thoughts. The paranoia was very intense, as was the depression. I have never in my life experienced panic attacks, anxiety attacks, suicidal thoughts, paranoia, huge mood swings, or depression. The above effects lasted almost two weeks. Anxiety still comes and goes. It has been two months since taking levofloxacin, and the anxiety attacks are getting less."

"Do not take levofloxacin, do not take any chances!! In September 2016, I was seen by an urgent care doctor for a sinus infection. I get this type of sinus infection about twice a year. I explained to the doctor that amoxicillin always worked well and I did not have any side effects. She insisted that the levofloxacin would work much faster, so with reservations, I agreed to take it. Within 2 days, I could not bend my ankle forward or backward and was only able to walk by sliding my feet across the floor. It slowly went away after about 2 months. To this day, I still have aching in the back of my ankle and my ankle is swollen. I am 62 and take prednisone, I don't know why this doctor would prescribe this to me."

"I have been fighting my sinus infection for over 5 years now. Have been on different antibiotics through all those years. Just for the past 7 months, I have been on antibiotics about 5 times (mostly Zithromax). It seems like the relief was for a couple of days, and within a week my sinus would be stronger than previous. This time I went to the doctor and he put me on levofloxacin 500 for 7 days. I am on day 5, and I feel at least 65% better. My nasal area feels more dry, and much less mucus is coming out. I also have strong bronchitis. My head and breathing cleared up. I am still coughing though, but not as much as I used to. I tend to have difficulty waking up in the morning, but hope it will be better as the treatment finishes."

"I got sick 2 days after Thanksgiving with a sinus infection, and my Dr. put me on prednisone and azithromycin for chest congestion. I did not get well. I was then put on levofloxacin for 10 days. I am on day 7, I quit today. I have a severe headache, earache, sore throat, swollen glands, sores on my tongue, my mouth feels like it was burned. Gums receded. My arm tendons have shooting pains, my legs are swollen. Ankles hurt. I think this medication should be outlawed. It is poison."

"I had a really bad sinus infection as a complication from the flu. At the end of 14 days in August, I still had some gunk, so we decided to switch, Levaquin was chosen. 500 mg for 7 days. Six hours after the first pill, I had some weird leg pain around my ankle, and my joints seemed tight. Because my doctor educated me, I was able to immediately stop and get a new antibiotic. 1. Listen to your body. If after one dose you feel off, STOP IMMEDIATELY. It accumulates at the second dose, and it’s much worse. 2. Based off of 3 medical opinions, I should be in the clear in 48 hours after the dose, but to treat the areas that have mild pain as an injury. 3. Levaquin metabolizes through the kidneys, so if after one dose you feel icky, start heavy fluids and 100% cranberry juice. Magnesium only helps if it’s still in your stomach or if you’re deficient. I’ll update in a few days to see if the opinions were correct."

"My doctor prescribed 10 days of this Rx for a sinus infection; yesterday made 4 days, and I'm experiencing severe joint pain. After reading the reviews below, I'm shocked/scared and will not be taking any more pills. My body feels as though I've been in a car accident; I can barely move my neck due to pain, my hands ache like I have arthritis, my elbows, entire back, hips, knees, and ankles are in pain, and the bottom of my feet are burning as if I've been walking in hot sand. The last four days I've had a headache and nausea, and today my eyes ache. This morning, I was then experiencing confusion and finally decided to do more research on this drug and discovered this site. I plan to call my doctor tomorrow; this drug is horrible!"
