"I just started the Lupron shot, and so far it's helping, but it's also come along with hot flashes, dizziness, prolonged QT heart interval (I already have the heart problem, but it is amplifying it), body pain which is slowly going down, brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, inability to breathe, and is making some of my connective tissue symptoms worse. I'm hoping at least some of these symptoms go away. If they do, I will continue the monthly shots since the endo symptoms are getting better (headache, bowel issues, insane amount of bleeding every month, and debilitating pain)."

"I've been on the Lupron shot for almost 2 years now. The first six months were the hardest. I woke up tired, icky feeling, and puked. I lost my appetite, lost a lot of weight, and it made my insomnia worse and my urge to pee worse, especially at night. Once the nausea settled and my appetite came back, the other side effects were easy to cope with on top of the side effects from the Implanon. I haven't bled at all and had no pain. I got off it for 3 months, and some of my shooting pain came back, but no bleeding, so I got put back on it. I just decided to take a break, and I'm crampy and starting to spot. My OB/GYN said I shouldn't have pain like I was before, so we shall wait and see. Since the Lupron is working, my Medicaid won't let me have a lap to see what stage my endometriosis is."

"A costly and largely ineffective drug. Beware discount cards that refuse to honor their promises for low co-pay and further discounts. After having one 3-month shot priced at $2,500 and feeling little to no relief from a recurrence of endometriosis, I ended up getting a full hysterectomy anyway."

"I have stage 4 endo with adenomyosis and large fibroids. I’m currently awaiting my 3rd dose of the Lupron injection. It hasn’t been a bad experience; just body aches, bad hot flashes, and night sweats. No real weight gain, actually lost 6 pounds since I started the injection. After my first injection, I had a minor period, and for my second injection, no period or pain. Coming into the 3rd injection being due, I’m starting to experience endo pain. Think I’m only going to do one round of Lupron."

"I am a 22-year-old Black woman who started taking this injection in February after undergoing diagnostic surgery for endometriosis. I don't know what stage of endo I'm in, but it has spread to my intestines, liver, ovaries, and bladder. When I was informed about the injection, I read about its effects, so I'm not surprised, but it doesn't make me feel any less miserable. I experience severe hot flashes day and night, weight gain, and a severely decreased libido. Fortunately, I haven't felt any joint pain yet, but I hope I never do. I'm scheduled for the second dose, but I'm on the fence about continuing due to my decreased libido and weight gain. This injection is affecting my self-esteem, but I can't handle being in pain for 13 days every month. Although I still had a period every month, my last one was the worst, with heavy bleeding, extreme bloating, and gastrointestinal pain. If you're informed about this injection, choose to use it wisely."

"Just got my second 1-month Depot shot yesterday. I can't say I like it, but it's also not terrible. I have had hot flashes at night or sometimes during the day. I wake up more often at night, usually because of hot flashes or sweating. I am not used to feeling warm, I rather feel cold quickly. Kind of nice to feel warm actually. Definitely not horrible. Didn't gain any weight so far, had definite some sugar and carb cravings, but switched to a sugar-free, low-carb diet and feel much better on it. Also, working out daily helps. I've had one real breakdown moment a couple of weeks ago, but I am also in a difficult life-changing situation, so I wouldn't completely blame it on the drug. However, that was one day, and then I was feeling okay again. I've had joint pain in my elbows and a few headaches (I never have headaches), and I feel vaginal dryness. Definitely felt increased libido the first two weeks. All in all, not too bad. No idea if it's working yet, but I'm hopeful and would do it again."

"Almost as soon as the injection of Lupron Depot 3.75 was administered, I experienced the most horrible night sweats hourly, making sleep impossible, burning palms of hands, raised pulse, and headaches. Two weeks after the injection, I experienced pain in knees, difficulty in crouching, walking up and down stairs, increased pain in joints, hands, and feet."

"I have been taking Lupron for 4 months now, with about 2 months of that having add back. I am 17 years old and only have one ovary (not sure if this affects my experience at all). I am in hell, I'm constantly missing school. I don't want to get up every day of my life, and I always want to just cry. I wake up in pools of sweat, I get migraines to the point I have blurry vision and see dark spots. I still have pelvic pain (what I was trying to fix), and I am constantly dizzy. I also cannot think and remember correctly anymore. I lost my life."

"I had been suffering for years. Horrible pain, cramps all day and night, and meds NEVER took the severe pain away. The bleeding was excessive. I never had a light day. My period lasted for a month, sometimes almost 2 months. At the age of 15, I was taken to the gyn, which at that time was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and a bad case of endometriosis. Not only were the cysts bad, but the endometriosis had grown all over my ovaries, in my belly button, and was making it hard for me to move my bowels. The doctor politely said, well, you have a bad case here and you need surgery. So I said, ok, well, when? And he said, TOMORROW. So surgery happened, and not even 6 months later, I was having surgery again. I'm 34, and it's all back."

"I took Lupron for 6 months, and I loved it. It totally kept away my periods, and therefore I assume it stopped the endometriosis from growing. I had no side effects whatsoever."

"It took care of my endometriosis, but the side effects were terrible. Not so much the hot flashes, but the mood swings/depression."

"I wish I knew then what I knew now. If I knew 20 years later, I would still have side effects, I never, ever would have taken the doses. My doctor boosted this up like the fix."

"I have taken Lupron Depot 4 months ago. For me, it's a waste of money and time. One good thing is no periods, but I still have heavy pain in intercourse. Thinking to go for homeopathy."
