"I received my first shot almost 2 weeks ago. I am on the 3-month dosage. Absolutely no side effects the first couple of days, but pelvic/abdominal pain began day 3. My period came as normal on day 12 of getting the shot. I was really hoping to not have any at all. I will gladly deal with the more common side effects if my pain and period will go away! Only a few bouts of nausea and moments where I’ll feel so sad. I’m 39, no kids, and have been suffering from debilitating, life-altering pain since 12! I’m praying this helps!"

"This drug ruined my joints, chronic pain, I lost an inch in height, and my endometriosis was only gone for three years. I have gained 40 pounds, now have lost my mobility, can no longer dance or go out, I'm only 36, but I feel twice as old. I would never have taken it if I had known it was a chemotherapy drug for prostate cancer."

"I had a laparoscopy done in March 2015, and they determined stage 4 endometriosis. Before then, I had maybe 1 week out of a month without pain for over a year, it was horrible. My first injection was in September 2015. I had a laparotomy in October 2015, the doctor did an amazing job and removed all the scar tissue and cysts. My second injection was in December 2015, and the hot flashes are brutal. I am now on a low dose of estrogen to help with the hot flashes. It has helped but not fully. I highly recommend the injection if you want to be pain-free, the hot flashes are brutal but way better than the pain."

"My doctor told me about Lupron Depot, told me the side effects, and I was weary because it's an antineoplastic. I started it along with the add-back therapy of Provera 5 mg and had barely any side effects the first few weeks. Then I slowly started to gain hot flashes and some cramping in my right ovary where my cyst was. My period stopped before the second shot. I will say not to get it in the arm (deltoid) because my first shot was in my right arm, and it hurt even a month after. I get my fourth shot on the 18th, and I can tell you, the benefits will outweigh the negative side effects I'm having. So far I've had: thinning and loss of hair, my back and neck constantly hurt, hot flashes 2-6 times a day (mainly at night), vaginal dryness, which causes a lot of pain during sex, mood changes (I cry a lot)."

"Desperate for relief after 2 surgeries within 3 months of each other, I was so hopeful about this medication. I ignored the reviews and got the shot (11.75 dosage administered every 3 months). I regret my choice so much. First, the expense! Even with insurance, my out-of-pocket was $1,100. The mood swings were so bad that I became suicidal. I've gained 20 pounds that exercise and nutrition can't shed. The hot flashes were controlled by an OTC called Estroven. The pain did subside, but only for the 1st month after each shot (I got 2 shots total). Now, the pain is back and worse than ever and I'm only on month 5 of the treatment. Surgery #3 scheduled in 2 weeks. This med is NOT worth the side effects."

"I just got my first shot 10 days ago. Was bleeding 2 weeks before the shot, and it has not stopped yet. Pain has gotten a little more intense and has interfered with my sleep. Skin is also more dry than usual. My fingers are crossed that this will work. I have had very painful cycles since I was a kid, and I'm ready to not have to call in sick to work and miss social activities due to pain. No hot flashes, mood swings, or any other side effects, maybe due to the progestin I'm on. Will probably post in another couple of weeks."

"My first 3 weeks on Lupron were miserable. Painful, the heaviest period I've ever had, and just overall regretting my decision. It's now been about 2 months, and I'm feeling amazing! Hot flashes and forgetfulness, yes. But the pain is almost completely gone. My pain had me bedridden some days, and now my worst days just require a heating pad. I can't believe the turnaround."

"I was diagnosed with endometriosis during an appendectomy, but due to cluster headaches, hormones were contraindicated. Eventually, Lupron was advised. My mom, who NEVER had any menstrual cramps, told me horror stories, and I reacted as usual and agreed to the Lupron injections, and I have lived to regret it. Like so many others, I had severe menopausal symptoms, mood swings that made my fiancé think I was bipolar, and attempted suicide twice in a 3-month period, which is very unlike me. It caused weight gain, which I'd never had, and threw me into early menopause at the age of 46, 8 years after treatment. Now I'm suffering from acute hypertension, and I'm at risk for a stroke, which can't be attributed to anything else. But hey, no cramps!"

"I've received my first round in June 2015. Almost immediately, I started experiencing side effects. Headaches, weight gain, hot flashes, constant sweating, mood swings, made my depression worse, now swollen legs and ankles, also severe joint pain. This is becoming unbearable, and I'm rethinking doing the next cycle. It's helped with my endometriosis, which I'm happy about, but these side effects are a...."

"I've been suffering from endometriosis and ovarian cysts for 22 years. After trying all the hormones, we discovered I also had fibroids and adenomyosis. My doctor performed a hysterectomy with RSO. Even with that, I kept having cyclical bleeding and endo pain. We agreed on starting Lupron Depot for 6 months with progesterone add-back. I was incredibly nervous because of all the reviews. The first 2-3 weeks were pretty rough. Migraines, emotions all over the place. By week 4, I felt amazing! As the first 3-month shot started to wear off, symptoms began returning, and I couldn't wait for the next round. Dose #2 is coming to an end, and I can confidently say I haven't ever felt better. This drug was a dream come true for me! We've decided to proceed with removing the last ovary, and hopefully, I can start truly living life."

"This drug should be taken off the market. It kills your immune system, and the side effects never wear off. I had three injections in 2002 and am still suffering from what has happened to my body. The joint pain and hot flashes are unbearable. This medication has robbed me of enjoyment of life. Its only purpose is money for Big Pharma and ease of surgery for the doctor. No benefit to the patient at all. Do not take this, it will ruin your life."

"I got a month shot right when I was about to start my period. Period ended up lasting about 12 days. I was told night sweats and menopausal symptoms would happen, but I did NOT expect the suicidal urges (I've been diagnosed with depression, but it was manageable before this shot), migraines - the worst migraines I've ever experienced in my life, nausea, cankles. I've had to take roughly 5 days off work just in the last 3 weeks, and I may even lose my job. I am so irritable and cannot sleep for the life of me. I wake up at least 30 times a night. I'd rather have my excruciating menstrual cramps than go through this ever again. My body did NOT like this AT ALL!"

"At age 42, I had a partial hysterectomy (uterus only) to remove large fibroids. (Daughter was born when I was 32.) The doctor found stage IV endometriosis. He left my ovaries and said he never wanted to do surgery again - endo everywhere. He suggested Lupron to arrest the endo. It took me a year to start Lupron. I had to contact a foundation to qualify to receive the medication for free. I did two 3-month shots. I remember some hot flashes, nausea, and a few mood swings, but it passed fairly quickly. Now, I am 46 and in full menopause. I have osteopenia with some degenerative disc issues. Chronic back pain hurts most when laying on my stomach in bed. But I do not use pain meds or H.R.T. I hope the brain fog and other symptoms continue to improve."

"I started this about 6-7 weeks ago after laparoscopy for small endo on my bowel, and the top of the cervix was unsuccessful. The first month was a nightmare. Started with worsening pain symptoms and an extra-long last period. Mood swings were outrageous. Crying all the time and a little feet/ankle swelling. Started adding back therapy and spironolactone a week ago, and as I reach the end of month two, I'm pain-free and I feel emotionally more stable. The side effects are manageable, at least right now. So if you can get past the initial period, it works."

"Was prescribed Lupron after endo surgery since not all growths could be removed. I was very scared to be taking it after I read about it (I cried in the doctor's office when getting the injection). But I ended up loving it. It stopped my periods and the pain, so my anemia was under control and I had so much energy! As for side effects, there was insomnia (but I was not tired from it, so it was OK) and hot flashes started after about two months - but that was nothing compared to the relief. I only got one 3-month shot, but the positive effects lasted for quite a bit. I hope to get another 3-6 months soon. I know there are risks to this, and everyone reacts differently, so I could not advise anyone to take it or not, but for me it was wonderful."

"Straight after the injection, I regret it because of the side effect, but after 3-5 days, it makes me feel better and brings my life back. It has been 8 years that I have been in pain, 1 ectopic pregnancy and terrible pain every single period. Too much medicine I had to take, and it is a risk to my kidney function, and no medication helped me at all. I just keep asking how come I only had this Lupron after 8 long years of suffering through the terrible pain. It makes me feel better and be able to do the things that I never ever did for 8 years because of 2-3 weeks in pain every period. Now I can do all the normal activities, and it feels so good to be up in the morning after having a good sleep and being pain free. I am looking forward to my second injection."

"I was diagnosed with endometriosis after having a laparoscopy. I started the Lupron shots not long after the surgery. While the symptoms seemed to fade, the side effects were terrible. I had unbearable mood swings, which caused many problems in the family. The hot flashes were ridiculous. I also ended up gaining about 20 pounds within six months. The pain did subside, and I have not had as much pain since I finished the injections 10 months ago."

"I was diagnosed with stage 5 endometriosis back in the early '90s. My Dr. suggested to me the Lupron shots. The reason we did not do the surgery at that time, I was young and wanted children, so to help with the awful pain and miserable time of the month, we started Lupron injections. Let me say, the side effects were awful! The hot flashes, I wanted to go out into the snow naked to cool off. The mood swings were out of control, however, I was put through the menopause stage and no periods, that was heaven. I was on the injections for 6 months, then after I was off, the wicked horrid pain and cycle started. The weight gain was insane. I had to go back on the injections, but since the weight gain, I quit after the 2nd injection."

"Using Lupron Depot for endometriosis. Have an injection once a month, have just had my third injection. Missed period by 2 weeks, so hopefully no painful period this month. I have had my last two periods, but they were nowhere near as painful as the ones I used to suffer with. I am experiencing hot flashes quite regularly, but they only last 10 to 15 minutes, so it’s something I can cope with. I am also going through stages of feeling quite anxious and depressed, but hopefully these symptoms subside and this injection helps me for the future, as I’ve recently spoken to my doctor who said this will help fertility in the future, as I am 20 and have always wanted children, something I thought was just going to be a dream when first diagnosed and had my fallopian tube removed at 17."

"I'm on the 6-month therapy treatment, and I got my 4th injection yesterday. At the beginning, I was getting the hot flashes, which I can deal with, the mood swings. I'd rather deal with that than the terrible belly button pain, bleeding from the navel, and chest pain. I was diagnosed with endo stage 4 about 3 years ago. But now I'm starting to think, 'Is it worth it?' with the insomnia, tiredness, diarrhea, and waking up with migraines."

"I've finished my third cycle of Lupron for endometriosis, and it kicked my butt! Each cycle includes an injection each month for 6 months. Once I finish Lupron, I slowly have periods, and each month the pain gets stronger. Last time was bad, but nothing like this. There's no way of describing it other than 'Roid rage.' I couldn't control my emotions. For 2 1/2 months, I was manic. I'm talking fighting fits of rage and sobbing on the floor, which is nothing like myself. I'm almost emotionless. Hot flashes, hair thinning, loss of sex drive. That last one, which I hope doesn't affect you, surprisingly is one of the worst. Gained 30 lbs over 6 months while dieting. Even with an extremely strict diet, I have only managed to lose 2 pounds, and it's been 2 and a half months since my last injection. All in all, I'm not sure if I will go through another treatment of Lupron as all the side effects that affected me seem to get more intense each time."

"I have severe endometriosis and adenomyosis and am scheduled for a hysterectomy on Jan 29th. My doctor wanted me to get a couple of Lupron injections so that I can have some pain relief as well as experience some of the symptoms I will be dealing with after my surgery. Well, it's been 3 weeks since my first (and LAST) injection. I have night sweats every night as well as a full aching headache all day long. The headache goes away with Tylenol or sleep but is back the very next day. So I'm hoping the headaches stop once this horrible drug is out of my system. Didn't have headaches until I got this injection!!"

"I was put on this medication after laparoscopic surgery to remove cysts that were causing me pain. They found out I have stage 2 endo and recommended the Lupron with the acetate pill. The first month was fine, but the second month my period came early and never stopped. I can deal with the hot flashes, but I've currently been bleeding and cramping for 4 weeks, and they just keep telling me to wait it out. I'm due for the second shot in July, and I don't know if it's going to help at all. I am depressed, and the night sweats are a lot to deal with. I would rather have dealt with the endo pain 2 days a month than to have done this."

"I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis after my first laparoscopy in June 2015. Following my first surgery, I started Lupron injections in hopes of slowing the endo growth. I had three rounds of Lupron causing terrible side effects, which included, but were not limited to: fatigue, night sweats, mood swings, joint pain, severe abdominal pain, lack of sex drive, natural lubrication, and anxiety. In December 2015, my second laparoscopy and six months of Lupron left me with stage 3 endometriosis. The doctor wanted to continue with six more months of Lupron and another surgery. I declined such an offer. I am very unhappy with how this drug affected my life. My body will never be the same after Lupron. Don't take this drug."

"So I’ve been on Lupron Depot with an add-back for 10 months. I have severe endometriosis. I would bleed severely every month for at least two weeks, if not longer, with the worst pain of my life. I wanted to die. I definitely wasn’t living. The smallest movements, and I’d be soaked in blood. The pain was literally unbearable, and I’d have to make a trip to the emergency room. Yes, I do have side effects from the Lupron Depot: headaches, tired and drained, and for a few weeks out of my three-month cycle, my body hurts so bad I can barely walk around. But these side effects have nothing on the pain and depression I was suffering before. I had no life at all. Everything revolved around my period. It’s the only thing that’s given me relief."
