"I loved the first 3 treatments! 2 in the psych unit/behavioral health unit, 2 in a clinic and 1 so far at home (have a month's supply of nasal from a compounding pharmacy, and it's a controlled substance so I had to show my driver's license at the pharmacy.) My last in-clinic IV dose was awesome during but horrible after because of bad thoughts during treatment. I was more suicidal afterwards and my boiling depression turned to lava. My most recent nasal treatment was JUST RIGHT. PERFECT. AS LONG AS YOU ARE IN A FAIRLY GOOD MOOD AND FOCUS ON VERY POSITIVE THINGS DURING IT, ketamine is mental health gold."

"I recently started getting 100mg IM injections of ketamine for my treatment-resistant bipolar, treatment-resistant PTSD, and ADHD. It is a jarring experience, but has helped more than any other med on the market. The clinic took a risk since I have a psychotic past, but the treatments ended up stopping the commands in my head completely. I don't think it's amazing for my PTSD, but for the depression and suicidal ideation, it's the best available."

"I started ketamine oral and nasal sprays around 5 years ago. It was a lifesaver for my depression, but it also worked with my pain medications, and combining the two, I finally got some decent relief from my CRPS, which is in both legs and both feet. Unfortunately, it has been over a year since I have had it due to my two doctors going to ketamine infusions, and being on disability, it's not an option as it costs too much. Still hoping to find someone to write the ketamine nasal spray, as $150 a month is better than $800 a week."

"Ketamine has given me my life back. I’ve been using compounded ketamine from a reputable compounding pharmacy. Cost is $50 for a round of treatment of 3 weeks. The branded esketamine is $1000 for the same round. Yes. Ketamine works wonderfully for depression. The key is to get the dosing correct. In my case, it didn’t work being overdosed and didn’t work at a lower dose. Once the psychiatrist found the right dose, the depression vanished. Don’t let anyone tell you ketamine doesn’t work. Pharmaceutical studies are biased toward branded drugs. The outcome is very dose dependent, and studies are often done with the intention of a failure. Get a psychiatrist that isn’t a shill for big medicine. Use compounded ketamine, you will save thousands. Find the right dose with your psychiatrist. It may take 3-4 rounds until the sweet spot is found."

"I’ve tried ketamine intravenously and in powder form for depression. You definitely want to be lying down and warm. I felt connected to the world and made me feel not afraid of death. A very positive experience. When taking intravenously, I was also suffering from Lyme disease, which affected me mentally and physically; and I’m not sure if it helped my depression or not. But it was absolutely a peak experience in a positive way."

"Worked when nothing else did. Am marking it 'not recommended' only because it's not appropriate for everyone, it's for genuinely *treatment-resistant* depression, and you have to be willing to work at recovery, it isn't magic."

"I have had treatment-resistant depression since I was about 10 years old and was diagnosed with bipolar II at 24. Since then, I've tried 24 medications of various classes. I started ketamine along with Cymbalta for severe suicidal ideation after a long depressive episode 6 months ago, and I am now the most stable I have ever been. It quite literally saved my life and brought me to a place where talk therapy is effective. I started at 90 mg in a nose spray twice a week for two months, and I now take a sublingual troche at 120 mg every two weeks. This is much lower than an IV dose, but it's still very effective and doesn't cause too much dissociation. The suicidal ideation disappeared immediately and I improved very dramatically over about 3 months. Honestly, I think this regimen is probably more effective long-term than a short set of high doses IV, so talk to your doctor about trying this before the IV treatments. It's also much cheaper."

"After years of antidepressants and an anxiety/PTSD diagnosis, I read about ketamine treatment and was excited about the reviews. I did my first session at home, through an online agency that had sent it in the mail, and did some coaching beforehand. For me, the experience was not pleasant. I was crying for the first half and feeling anxious the whole time. I remember looking at the clock, hoping the hour would be over soon. Afterwards, I journaled my experiences as I was told to do. But it was a lot of negativity and sadness. Afterwards, I felt very out of it and crappy all day, including nausea at night. Since then, I’ve been really agitated and lashing out at others. I hope that I feel better soon."
